“An old man, poorly clad, stands by the side of a river, collecting bits of wood and straw with a rake.” Welcome to the Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch (beginning yesterday and ending June 19) when we may sometimes feel like that gentleman. There could be obtuseness which makes us fall into errors and then we “seek comforts by easy ways” but they are mostly fruitless. Then, to escape, we may emulate “an aviator in the clouds” who contemplates things from an otherworldly, irresponsible position. However, he and we could use such lofty observation for “whole judgment and long-range planning, taking a perspective superior to any involvement or pattern of limitation.”
“Behind a king on a throne stands a figure veiled in black.” Some well-known leaders on the world stage may feel that this is their situation. They are “too apt to depend on their own powers” rather than seek accommodation with all, and so their throne could collapse at the behest of an “enemy” not understood. Or if, instead, they have high resolves they can achieve their purposes “without loss of fortune, prestige or honor..” “He will sustain his throne by the use of aggressive measures, an astute mind and unswerving faith.”
“A serpent standing erect within a circle of fire” “has a soul disposed to the searching out of the deeper secrets of nature.” He or she could pursue science, especially that devoted to healing. “He will take life at the crisis and turn it back from the gates of death.” After we succeed in doing this we are on “a straight road with an interminable perspective.” We may enjoy “an evenly balanced mind and an uneventful life that will be long and happy.”
