\Happy Deeper New Year/

I am taking a few minutes at sunset on the 30th to write this.

I am very appreciative of all of you who came to my aid in this crisis, when I am wondering if it is worth while going on with the daily forecasts. Thank you for your support. You remain a tiny minority of those who read the forecasts, according to the numbers, but without that minority I might have given up long ago. There will probably be forecasts continuing before long. It seems to be in by blood and bones to write them, from the time I was a child and devoured astrology publications. Now it seems appropriate to take a break from the heavenly circuit, at least in consciousness, to go deeper for a while, or to "let go" as a Sabbath or Sabbatical at the end of the year.

As I write I am feeling the special value of the end-of-the-year period. As an astrologer I didn't, originally, believe in "the calendar," as too much of a human invention, based on ancient and Roman ideas and measurements more than on the precise orbit of the earth around the sun. Yet amazing books based on esoteric information released in the late 19th century (the world is always extremely slow to catch up with occult information!) revealed to me that our so-called Roman calendar, now universally used around the world to keep us all in synch, is by no means arbitrary. This method assigns December 30 to the Ace of Hearts, the only day in the year assigned to that card. (The 31st is the Joker.) This is a love card. It is love in a special transcendental sense. What is the love of One? (the Ace). Today I am sensing that. It is not self-love in the lower sense, but a higher Self-love which recognizes oneself as one with all. It is love of the One visualized in whatever spiritual-religious-aspirational form one can manage or is one's tendency or inherited tradition. It is the love of G*d which bases the love of humanity, of the Other, of any loved one, and of oneself. It can always be expanded and enriched!

So I recommend that thought and aspiration to you today, and also on the 31st.

If you can't be at home at midnight on the 31st-1st, because you are out celebrating (I expect to be), you and I can choose an earlier time in the afternoon or evening of the 31st to celebrate the New Year at a spiritual level (because it will be 2015 already somewhere in the world, as India or China or Japan).

Then you will get the double benefit of a spiritual New Year, celebrating for an hour alone with G*d, and a later social New Year with friends or family.

Happy Seventh Day of Christmas! Happy New Year!

Cosmic Piper

P. S. A footnote to the message for Wednesday:

Here are Western Hemisphere times for New Year's in lands East of us:

Jerusalem:  2015 begins at 2:00p PT | 5:00p ET

Rome: 2015 begins at 3:00p PT | 6:00p ET

Pondicherry, India (home of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville): 2015 begins at 10:30a PT | 1:30p PT

I may spend some time in meditation before and after the Pondicherry time, but probably spend a whole hour before the Jerusalem time, a "watchnight" New Year's Eve service, in prayer, although it will be in the afternoon in my time zone.

This is partly because Jerusalem has such high significance for both Jews and Christians, but also I felt the astrological conditions would be good at that hour for a deeper and more powerful experience.

So I expect to be in meditation and prayer (with Scriptural and other spiritual reading) from 1 p.m. to after 2 p.m. Pacific Time (4 to after 5 p.m. Eastern Time).

Then I will feel better about going to a "secular" party-style celebration later on.

If anyone chooses to join me, invisibly, you are most welcome!

Any other hour of the day might serve as well if it fits your schedule.

Tuesday

\Cute Cat/

A church I have been attending has a young pastor whose sermons are often puzzles put together to challenge the intellect.

On Sunday he spoke of the Sabbath, and all the other days of rest which were commanded in Hebrew scriptures--more than I had realized, many holidays and some whole-week or two-week periods. I am sure that the farmers fed their animals, at least, during those week-long "rests" from work, but the idea was interesting to me and helpful. I am narrowing down to a Saturday sabbath for myself, with Sunday as an optional work day when needed. So I will have to write a foreshortened forecast for Sunday (if I continue with forecasts) on Friday and post it with the Saturday forecast because I will not "work" on Saturday.

As for the longer required "rest" days, why not the end of the year? I understand that in many European countries people have a whole week or more off from work at the end of the year. I am taking it this time.

The Twelve Days of Christmas go through January 5, and January 6 is Epiphany.

The last straw came a few days ago when I struggled hard to write a forecast from the heart, which was more than a forecast but a solid broadcast of themes which I felt imperatively moving through the world-soul. Then I added a poem which took a long time to write and was one of my best

Only one person bothered to click on "like" on Facebook.

That was it. People can post a new photo of their cat and get 73 "likes" but when I pour out my heart and soul and work hard to correct the language to perfection and write a poem as well, I get only one?  I am obviously barking up the wrong tree (unless that cat is in it).

So, we shall see. If nobody cares for what I write, then I shall keep the forecasts and poems to myself, or write only poems and publish them elsewhere. Happy 6th Day of Christmas!

Forecast for Monday 29 December 2014

I am going to skip the written forecast today, and maybe for several days to come.

Nor many people are reading it and so it would seem to be a misapplication of my efforts.

"God's works exist and we see the products of the action of his spirit in nature; but God himself is to us a nonentity if we are not rendered divine by his presence in us; we cannot realise the nature of God, unless his divine nature is present in us and comes to our own consciousness. A state of existence is incomprehensible unless it is experienced and realised, and it begins to exist from the moment that it is realised."   ---Franz Hartmann

Forecast-Meditation for Sunday 28 December 2014

Sunday 28 December 2014

^Rescue^

Sun in Capricorn; Moon in Aries; Foci in 4, Home or Foundation and 9, Comprehension or Learning

Moon on course   ***

A lot is brewing, percolating. Life keeps changing. In our morose moments, we find this depressing. "Nothing lasts, nothing is secure, I have to start all over again every day." In our exalted moments we love it: "I can begin again, things are fresh and new, isn't it exciting!" Let's turn to that latter mood today if we can.

Yet there is an emphasis on home, as if you wanted to make that your foundation for new beginnings. Maybe organization there will help.

There is also an emphasis on learning and on career. We are all self-taught, no matter how many courses we take or degrees we earn. You select the schools, the teachers, the gurus. You are teaching yourself.

But the teachers you have selected are also teaching you and today you may value them intensively. They become part of yourself insofar as you assimilate what is best in them (and let the rest go).

Subordination to a guru or spiritual teacher, or a technical or skills teacher, is one of the mysteries: It feels like servitude but it makes one a master. So it is like "apprenticeship" in the old days. The apprentice willingly subordinates his mind and action to the teacher in order to become a master himself.

If the teacher is an excellent teacher, but also has a bad habit such as smoking or cursing, you do not have to assimilate that--just the best.

And so learning under teachers is in itself an art form.

The hawk threatens the fledglings in the nest. Who would care
Except the birds and their mother? The man who watches
Feels helpless--desponding, watching the barren plain, the
Leaden sky, wondering how the world could be so cruel.

But brownies dance in the setting sun. They seem to know
Something built in their limbs, their hearts, their smiling
Faces. He joins in their dance, looks toward the hawks--they
Have disappeared. He drinks himself silly, then remembers--

He must work with fire-fighters to put out a blaze, using
The tools and techniques he has learned. He does it for
A lady he will see, if all goes well, when his tour
Of duty ends--kind and beautiful, gentle and entrancing.

It is a rather mellow time, low-pressured for the most part. Mind-wandering or semi-controlled meditation is all right, as well as some more directed activities, if we are ready for changes and interruptions.

I am a believer in the Twelve Days of Christmas (through January 5, and then with an extra day, Epiphany, on January 6) and also in an esoteric calendar scheme which assigns the last-thirteen-days-but-one of December to the Hearts of the card deck. (The final day belongs to the Joker!) So it is a good time for sentiment, with the moon also in Pisces, and we need not be ashamed of that. Much in the world is worthy of our love and goodwill.

Reserve forces of electrical energy, vibrational patterns, endow
The laborer with determination to cut out his path no matter
What. He ploughs through obstructions incisively, not ashamed
To use whatever comes to hand, recycling the world's inertia.

A leading character in a school of philosophy is not less but
More than he seems, despite the fact that jealousy and rivalry
Pullulate around him. Those feeling unloved or misunderstood
Return un-love and misunderstanding--unless they follow his teaching.

They want to see into one another, take off one another's masks,
Declassify gossip, reveal improprieties, all in the interest of
Mutual understanding, of course! Not everyone feels comfortable
With that--but some invoke spirit companions who guide them.

~Ready for Renovation?~

Sun in Capricorn; Moon in Pisces; Foci in 3, Neighbors and Communication and 10, Honor or Career

|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week continues
Moon on course   ***

Luna forms helpful sextiles with the sun, Pluto, Mercury and Venus, in that order, throughout the day, so we have a three-star rating--despite the |difficult third| period which ends early Saturday.

There is likely to be more pleasure, contentment and easy good will than on Christmas itself. People are trying hard to be themselves despite others' misapprehensions of them (Uranus square Pluto and Mercury). Let's make this second day of the twelve days of Christmas equal to, or more likely better than, the first!

The light and the grey interspaces of the giant wheel
Look like matter and anti-matter, or black and white holes,
Or a fever dream needing a conclusion. So the dreamer unmasks
The dream and knows that the circles are spirals of bliss.

The turning wheel of the Law has become a turning spiral of
Truth and Love. No one is left out. A heart of devotion glows
Within an aureole of splendor. As in a dream, those apart
Draw near, feeling the unity of love envelop their souls.

Losing the mask of fear has not been as hard as it seemed.
The aurora borealis's force is also luminous brilliance,
Lifting thinkers like it to higher renovating truths.
A manuscript of hieroglyphs replaces program code in ready minds.

Forecast-Meditation for Christmas, 25 December 2014

Thursday 25 December 2014

}Bright Ideas{

Sun in Capricorn; Moon in Aquarius-->Pisces; Foci in 2, Allies or Possessions and 11, Friends or Hopes

|Karmically intense or sobering third| of this week continues (until Saturday)   **
/moon goes void-of-course at 7:12a PT | 10:12a ET | 3:12p UT   *
until it enters Pisces at 8:08p PT | 11:08p ET | 4:08a(F) UT   **

Again we have a void-of-course period for thirteen hours. In addition to the |difficult third| period. (I find some confusion about |this| in people's minds. It is, of course, not the same days every week. It might appear to be that because it rotates quite slowly through the weeks, from later in the week to earlier, sometimes midweek, sometimes weekends. It is now moving earlier toward midweek, leaving the weekends free of |it| for a few months.)

So, Christmas can be spiritually Happy but probably not very Merry, if that means depending on other people's moods to make one Happy. But if you insist on merriment, go for it!

Actually most people will be thinking about their honor, their position in the world, what their family or parents or "superiors" think about them, whether they are "making it" or not. That can be depressing because nobody feels they have succeeded, probably, as much as they would like, not even Warren Buffett. "What can I do with all my money that will give me more prestige or show everyone, or G*d, that I am a good man?" If WB does not think that way, I apologize to him, but many people do, and many will be doing it today.

That is probably all to the good. Whatever we do, we want to do it well. Where is the room for sentiment? some of us will feel. Isn't that for babies?

Sorry, but I am trying to capture some of the probable astrological trends. If you have a more friendly and loving experience today, good for you. You have a very developed soul.

He stands guard to prevent crises. Relatives seem to need that.
Others play cards and board games; some want to gamble.
Some grumble at the triviality, looking for something better;
Some try to protect the immature from their immaturity.

Carefree assurance and self-display are part of the holiday.
Kids show off their prowess with their new toys. A few,
Both young and older, retreat to their rooms with some
Bright ideas the Christmas Angels conferred, pondering.

A veteran smiles, inwardly glad he is not in the war,
But wondering what new battles must be at home.
A younger brother apes current fashions, trends, games,
Looking silly to the battle-scarred one, yet loved.

Forecast-Meditation for Wednesday 24 December 2014

Wednesday 24 December 2014

)Christmas Eve(

Sun in Capricorn; Moon in Aquarius; Foci in 2, Allies and Possessions and 11, Friends and Hopes

Moon on course   **
|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week begins at 7:40p PT | 10:40p ET | 3:40a(Th) UT

The Christmas Angels have a lot of work to do to overcome the squares from Capricorn to Aries (Uranus in the latter sign). There can be nervousness, and fanaticism about whatever makes you feel you are your real self as opposed to the real selves of others. (We may say that all "real selves" are united, and that is spiritually true, but it may be hard to experience that blessed condition.)

For months there have been repressed desires along with a need to be independent of the loved one. Some even feel they are at a life crisis under the aegis of Uranus square Pluto, which will be with us a long time, by one degree until April and then continuing with perhaps somewhat less intensity. At best, this is an indefatigable urge to create new conditions of life. It senses that it is up against a lot but is willing to keep trying. So we can do.

Decisions are wanted while Mars opposes Jupiter, yet one feels uncertain about them, so it is a "gaming" situation. Moon with Mars can make us excitable or impulsive, and its opposition with Jupiter can be differences of opinion which one has to shrug off.

Luna sextile Uranus is good for intellectual pursuits, and fleeting love-interests. The personality differences could be too intense for anything but "fleeting" contacts.

But it's Christmas Eve and there are the Christmas angels . . .

The problems we have are seemingly strange material for
Transformation. Where do they come from? Ourselves, the world,
Or G*d? Does it help to ask? This stuff is for us to work with.
If His grace is ours, our lives can manifest grace in return.

The stars and planets float in the sky, and we float within
Their orbits, and nothing could be without meaning. So we
Study and observe, think and intuit, and flowering truths
Astrological lift and uplift us, thinking His thoughts after Him.

Meanwhile the daily "grind" becomes a song of praise
If we learn, however obtusely, to feel its true worth.
The "mean" or boring work we do has deep value
If we make the mean mean something real and transcendent--

Is that easier now, at Christmas? Let's hope. It's a group effort
To keep the faith, value one another, and sense that we mean
So much more to everyone than we'd imagined, as they mean so much
More to us. Let Him reign, the loved child! Happy Christmas!

Forecast for Tuesday 23 December 2014

Tuesday 23 December 2014

\Interesting Low-Key Transition/

Sun in Capricorn; Moon in Capricorn-->Aquarius; Foci in 1, Focus or Self and 12, Confinement or Privacy or Research

/moon void-of-course  *
until it enters Aquarius at 6:53p PT | 9:53p ET | 2:53a(W) UT   **

The absence of helpful lunar aspects and the fading-away of the trine between Jupiter and the sun make this a more "ordinary" day than we might expect during a holiday season. The long void-of-course period has to do with Saturn no longer being at the end of Scorpio to "catch" the moon's sextile, but now in Sagittarius (as of 8:34 a.m. UT). There it shall be until June-September when it shall return to Scorpio for the summer. It entered that sign in October 2012. This has been two years of intensified desires, of strong loves and sometimes strong repulsions, of heightened sexual awareness, whatever that may mean to any particular individual. Now that Saturn is in Sagittarius we may expect a calmer, more philosophic or religious attitude, a desire to do good in a detached controlled but benevolent manner. That may be refreshing, but if you want more of the emotional intensity, wait until June.

Maybe Saturn in Sagittarius until 2018 will mean a stabilization in the Muslim world, which is said by ancient astrologers to be ruled by this sign. What has been settled by blood (Scorpio) may be settled now by law and ethical-spiritual negotiation (Sagittarius). Let us hope!

That is one of the most optimistic forecasts I have ever made. Yes, let us hope.

Tuesday is a moon-void-of-course day so, given what was said in the first sentence of this report, it might feel "blah." People will think of career hopes and needs, of what their position in the world really is and how to fortify it. That is always sobering, even to the most successful individual, for we always feel we have fallen short.

Keeping at things, in whatever way makes sense to your intuitive judgment, will be helpful, as long as you give yourself rest times and let your work be flexible or interruptible (void-of-course). You may want to be a slave-driver of yourself (Capricorn) but need some off time as well. This is specially true if you are at a transition stage where much remains unsettled or unclear. Research and planning could be better than rushing to put plans in motion when your environment is not ready for them yet.

\Establishing Practical Guidelines/

Sun in Capricon; Moon in Capricorn; Foci in 1, Self or Focus and 12, Solitude or Confinement or Research

Moon on course   ***

Major features are a stellium (five planets) in Capricorn and the square of all of them to Uranus in Aries. Capricorn may be the most "natural" or direct sign of all, wanting things to get organized immediately and wanting satisfaction at once. So it is highly competent, and "earthy" as perhaps no other sign (except sometimes Taurus). Today practical research could be emphasized, because of "field" placements (in the 9th and 12th fields).

We should be used to the squares by now, bringing out our need for independence or our insistence on following our own path (Uranus) rather than someone else's. Yet the sextiles of these same Capricorn planets with Neptune brings out the more acquiescent side of the Goat, a willingness to adjust to the needs of the human race, other individuals and G*d. "I'll do it my way, but I'll do it for you" is the attitude. It sounds like a winner.

At worst there could be fanaticism, but this is under control because Mars has a sextile with Uranus. There is a paternal or maternal trend, with Jupiter in high focus, a desire to guide and direct as if others were children, or a desire for such guidance from someone else. Mars opposing Jupiter could be a gambling urge. This of course should be moderated carefully. Gambling is "gaming" so a playful attitude could be liberating. The only opposition is in fixed signs, so helpful guidelines can be established for whatever is at focus in one'e efforts. We have until January 5, the beginning of the next Dark Hermetic Epoch, to do that felicitously.

^Ready for the Unexpected^

Sun in Sagittarius-->Capricorn; Moon in Sagittarius-->Capricorn; Foci in 12, Solitude or Confinement and 1, Self or Focus   ***

/moon goes void-of-course at 4:36a PT | 7:36a ET | 12:36p UT   **
Sun enters Capricorn (Winter Solstice) at 3:04p PT | 6:04p ET | 11:04p UT
Moon enters Capricorn at 5:26p PT | 8:26p ET | 1:26a(M) UT   ***
New Moon of Capricorn at 5:37p PT | 8:37p ET | 1:37a(M) UT

The void-of-course for thirteen hours suggests taking time out for relaxation or regeneration. Yet the cardinal preponderance suggests we will want to keep going and accomplish things. The Uranus squares suggest being oneself no matter how much "the world" and "people" seem to not-understand the self one has to be.

Mars sextile Uranus is good for all technical matters--but while the moon is v-of-c they require adaptability or waiting. It suggests freedom and bonhomie within the human family or among males, even if they are competing as in football.

Venus is uncomfortable, suffering apparent loss of love or worry about that, since she is semi-square Saturn while square Uranus. Love has to take unusual paths, or disappear before reappearing. This affects males as well as females, while the Mars-Uranus sextile is easy comradeship rather than love per se.

Mercury and Venus with Pluto suggest a desire for deeper commitment. When frustrated, that can be jealousy. Mercury still sextile Neptune suggests a spiritual solution to all this, the higher divine love which is unfazed by apparent betrayal or loss of human affection. Venus septile Neptune adds to that diagnosis--love has to be selfless to be solid. That is the opposite of the normal animalistic sense of love.

People find that the way to be themselves fully is to be more than themselves, while the sun is bi-septile Uranus. "I have to be Superman." Okay, let's try.

But while the moon is void-of-course, let's try in a subtle, easygoing, flexible way, ready for the unexpected and for variety. The moon winding down, getting smaller before the New, suggests recovering through old things or patterns in order to be ready for new ones. It can be a need for extra rest part of the day.

Moon on course   **
|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week ends at 6:59p PT | 9:59p ET | 2:59a(Su) UT   ***

Venus square Uranus is not only a tendency to "fly off the handle" when someone disturbs you, but an acute awareness of one's difference from others, with a determination to maintain that difference while, hopefully, respecting others' different differences. It can be hard at such times. Gay people, for example, go through it their whole lives, and Venus square Uranus has been perceived by astrologers as a "gay" aspect. When not that, it is an awareness of one's own and other "queernesses" whatever they be.

I am always tempted to be too optimistic toward the end of the |difficult third| of each week, but long experience has taught me that indeed it lasts as long as it lasts. We overcome it each week by tapping into our spiritual resources, and casting ourselves on the Almighty's mercy. It could feel a lot better toward the end, this afternoon, because Luna will be forming trines with Jupiter and Uranus and a sextile with Mars into the evening. This is manly stuff, a willingness to "play the game" with delight in it.

It should be a fine day to wrap up (literally or figuratively) holiday preparations. I do not do much of that myself, a little more this year than usual. The ritual, however casually done, is a good one, opening us to something beyond ourselves.

|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week continues (until late Saturday)
/moon goes void-of-course at 1:12p PT | *
until it enters Sagittarius at 1:56p PT | 4:56p ET | 9:56p UT   **

Not to speak like the Grinch or Scrooge, but the Christmas cheer may seem to dissipate, as hard to hold onto as the feet of Santa Claus in the chimney. It will come back another day, if not later this one. Santa needs to recuperate.

But you can carry on with holiday preparations--in fact preparing may be better than celebrating, today, making you feel you are ready for later festivity.

The |difficult third| can devolve into glum moods. But on Thursday, while it was in its early stages, I found that some "true blue" friends were very good to me while another one was quite beastly--he was not a true friend, it turns out, at least from his demeanor at that time. Other little misunderstandings happened while I was going about my business--if people are having a hard time they often show it during these times. It is a victory to maintain one's composure. Workmen pounding on the outside of my building knocked off an heirloom from its place and broke it. A typical |difficult third| sort of happening. But the landlord offered to fix it for me--very helpful. Other difficult events included a dispute with a waiter about a check. That is not typical of me but the situation was very peculiar. Other individuals at the Sri Aurobindo meeting were of the "true blue" sort and very friendly as usual. The day felt stressful yet I got a fair amount accomplished. I report all this to give you clues as to what you can expect at |these times| which I put within bars because we sometimes feel we are behind them then.

Mercury sextile Neptune can give high, deep, satisfying spiritual inspiration, so do keep up with devotional reading, study, and meditation or thankful prayer.

People who actually care a lot about each other can explode in each others' faces while Venus squares Uranus, as she is doing now. Let's try to prevent that so we don't "hurt the one we love" in the careless way a song points out as inevitable. It is not inevitable.

So there.

Another song declares that we should "take time to be holy" and that is good advice

Forecast for Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 December 2014

This is late because the Via Combusta got my schedule way off, although the time was a good one (I gave Tuesday four stars) because I made breakthroughs in astrological research and spent some happy time with friends.

Moon in the Via Combusta all day
Moon void-of-course   ***

It is futile to blame the planets for human stupidity and cruelty, yet it is true that recent dreadful killings are occurring while Uranus and Pluto remain in a tight square, less than 6 minutes of arc at present. Uranus can be as violent as Mars at its worst; Pluto is not necessarily so but can truckle to violence when large gain is expected. This square for most of us means facing and conquering our personal demons.

The day is half over as I write. Evening could be a nice social time (Luna sextile Venus while trine Neptune), hence the four stars.

There could be a sense of urgency while the moon in Scorpio moves toward a square with Jupiter and conjunction with Saturn (exact tomorrow). This could be in regard to holiday preparations perhaps. Mercury sextile Neptune lends glamour and beauty to self-expression while Mars sextile Uranus could make dealing with technological matters easy (such as a purchase or advantage secured). Feelings of disappointment may need to be overcome at the spiritual level. Interest in a friend could be obsessive.

On Sunday evening the moon's void-of-course period was archetypically valid for me, for about ten minutes before it began my Internet connection failed, just as I was setting up a new printer. It was extremely frustrating; the v-of-c continued into the wee hours of the morning so I could not post a forecast for Monday here. So I gave up on that and had an unplanned vacation. I called the provider and was told that they were "working on it." It was not restored until much later, either after the v-of-c ended or sometime in the middle of it while I was asleep.

Tuesday looks quite good except for the Via Combusta (not void-of-course), which can be subtle rather than harsh, as it probably will be this time--a subtle "loss of morale" or feeling of insecurity which can be overridden by the optimism stemming from Luna's sextiles with Jupiter, the sun and Mercury. Hopefully, I  gave the day four stars despite  the Via Combusta. Let's not let it "burn" us.

He doesn't know where to go for popularity.
He'd rather stay home in robe and cap, studying
Ancient books and current data. Yet he gets
Applause for his research from those who understand.

It's much too soon to be retired, she thinks,
Though relaxing into memories freshly alive.
She's come through many exploits successfully.
Now they are substance of lofty, intense meditation.

Three cups of wine stand on a table. Who will drink?
The one who does first becomes lively, audacious,
Ready to race through the neighborhood singing.
The next two talk of spiritual themes excitedly.
