Message for Halloween Weekend of October 31-November 1, 2020

 Weekend of October 31-November 1, 2020

\All Hallows Weekend/

Dear Faithful Readers,

I really appreciate your attention to these daily reports.  I have labored for 21 years to keep them going and to improve them as best I know how.  It is often exhausting, sometimes exhilarating.  Those of you who have commented or responded have kept me going.  Also, a quest for Truth has kept me going, and the amazing input from long-"dead' astrologers whose works I quote here.  The wisdom of their words is very much alive.

In the forecast for today (Friday as I write) we have: " The moon square Saturn (hard third of the week) fits with "a man standing in an open field with a broken plow."  There may seem to be misfortune, hindrance, and lack of opportunity. . . .  We can either fix the "broken plow" or accomplish something not requiring it."

I have to admit that I don't feel like "fixing" a "broken plow" today so I am not going to write a forecast for this weekend including Halloween, not one using the symbols as I usually do.

I'm going to vote, and that will require some time to review the candidates in my local and congressional races and their statements of their positions.  I am not happy with either presidential candidate.  But I care about this election.

It's Halloween, and that is The Eve of All Hallows, not a time for scary costumes, ghosts and goblins but for revering the spirits of those who have gone on into the "next world."  All Hallows is November 1.  That is All Saints Day.  November 2, Monday, is All Souls Day in the Church.  I am not a Roman Catholic but I revere these traditions.

Mercury Retrograde is with us in a big way.  I have tried to explain some of what it means, but there is always more! because life is complex and seems even more so during these phases of the Mercury cycle.  Mercury will turn direct on election day itself,  Tuesday, and this is interesting because Donald Trump is a Gemini, ruled by Mercury, and we do not know what this will mean for him.  I have resisted the impulse to predict the election.  A writer for the Mountain Astrologer magazine reviewed the standard "progressions" of both candidates, thoroughly, and concluded that Biden would win.  Another astrologer whom I have known for decades, Henry Weingarten who runs the Astrologers' Fund, which counsels investors, has predicted another Trump victory (and says he predicted his unexpected win four years ago).  We shall see.

You may feel "blue" more than usual while Mercury is retrograde.  And after it turns direct, until November 19.  But you may also be very good at sensing what your past means, what the people in your life mean to you, and how to link with those you see no more, whether they are in distant places or in "the next world."  The three days of Halloween, All Saints, and All Souls could be specially significant this time.

Often we feel "a little lost" during the Mercury Retrograde period.  Or even lost in a big way.  That is normal and you can cope with it in your own way as best you can.  Prayer of course is one of the best ways.  And spiritual study.  G*d does not "go on vacation" even though our minds seem to do so.

The symbols used in these daily reports often manifest in ways hard to discern on the surface, but in afterview they make sense.  That's why I recommend re-reading these reports at the end of the day or the next morning to see what they meant in your own situation.  In Thursday's forecast we had " The symbol-promises may be more subjective than objective, yet we have "a man with his left foot on the shoulder of a spade; in his hand he holds a jewel reflecting the sun's rays."  Unexpected good fortune! "  Well, I went shopping and was pleased with my purchases.  But also, it was announced that "GDP soars by record 33.1% annual pace in third quarter" (Marketwatch) and even the New York Times admitted that this was "the best G. D. P. report ever."  So yes, there was a shining jewel in the hand of the miner.

Friday:
A symbol indicating "orphanage" might show that one has to "go it alone" while the sun exactly opposes Uranus, planet of Independence.  Says Sepharial:  "Obscure in origin and reared among strangers, the nature is yet capable of attaining considerable distinction."  The moon square Saturn (hard third of the week) fits with "a man standing in an open field with a broken plow."  There may seem to be misfortune, hindrance, and lack of opportunity.  Yet "menial work," which after all someone has to do, has its own reward.  Needed routines are not enemies but friends.  We can either fix the "broken plow" or accomplish something not requiring it.

"Dental work" continues the practical trend.  This need not be literal, but is some sort of repair or maintenance of either one's tools and appliances or one's body.  When we ourselves are fit, we are able to hand on the baton or torch to someone else in life's "relay race."

'Tis the harvest season, and "a sheaf of corn," or maybe a harvested squash or pumpkin, is provided by "a practical benefactor of the race; a good member of society."  Then we are ready to join "a group around a campfire" or a consummating group experience, either in fact or memory or imagination.  Amiability is the name of the human race when it is free from fear.

^Out of Chains, Toward the Marvelous^

Moon in Aries
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week continues (exact around midnight) until Saturday afternoon

How do you change a cactus to a rose? A porcupine to a hummingbird?  That's my task in writing this report.  Turn political conflict and riots in the streets into the "better world" we all want.  Lying politicians into savants.  Let's try . . .

"A man in chains" is what many think their political opponent should be.  Both presidential candidates seem to be liars and crooks.  It is verifiable that both have lied heavily and frequently.  Yet each has proponents.  Sepharial says that the "man in chains" is "disposed to take life according to his own views and beliefs, and suffer much in consequence."  Sound like anybody you know?  Or, trying to escape dullness, one might emulate "an archer shooting arrows toward a flight of birds," not hitting anything, "flighty and indeterminate, effecting operations without design."  Too many love-affairs or attractions make them inconsequential.  One could be nonchalant.

The waywardness and eccentricity of a comet is our impetus from Uranus opposing the sun.  Yet one might do some great thing if it comes from inward profundity.  Unknown laws of nature exist, and sometimes one individual is able to use one of them, knowingly or unknowingly, to do marvelous things and make his or her mark.  This seems like magic.

"The moon shining across a lake" is fellow-feeling enabling release from compulsions, with an effortless move to deeper experiences of the heart.  There can be rapport despite differing viewpoints.  The pressures of recent weeks, not really lessened today, nevertheless may force us to innovate, so that there could be "the dawn of a new day, everything changed."

^Refining One's Position^

Moon in Aries
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week begins at 2:59p PT | 5:59p ET | 9:59p UT (until Saturday afternoon)

The energy of Mars plus the independence of Uranus (the sun is opposing it) make for high-energy disputes or disagreements during this election cycle.  Or we might pull back our differences and act like "two prim spinsters" who remain coolly friendly despite their differing attitudes.  There is "divorcement" from each other even while living close together.  There is a desire to be prominent but also to get to the core of things like "deep-sea divers."  One is involved in problems not only to solve them but to further one's growth toward perfection.

The symbols paint a nicer picture than the aspects, so let's go with them while realizing they point out ideals to be attained.  "A merchant ship" signifies a successful traveler, navigator or trader, and the chart shows strong career inclinations, so one might feel that one has found how to set one's sails in one's chosen profession.  Luna is in a child-sign and we have "a naked boy with a crown on his head and a scepter in his hand."  This is innocency plus dignity.  One is endowed to be as great as one hopes to be.

I said to a friend yesterday that most of us just need to wait until the election is over to get a true sense of where we are going or clear answers to our questions.  That's because Mercury turns direct the day of the election (though still moving very slowly until November 19).  And so it is not surprising if things seem very tentative.  The symbol-promises may be more subjective than objective, yet we have "a man with his left foot on the shoulder of a spade; in his hand he holds a jewel reflecting the sun's rays."  Unexpected good fortune! I am not suggesting the lottery or casino.  But somehow you might enjoy unusual success or good fortune.  This could be through exploration or discovery.  A trend is fortuitous.  At a more universal or spiritual level, "the light of the sixth race is transmuted to the seventh."  History's mirror is foreshadowing humanity's ultimate potentials.  Venus now in her own sign, Libra, gives relief from some of the recent nastiness.  We may be at the threshold of a better future.

~Discrimination as Balance and Comfort~

Moon in Pisces-->Aries
/moon goes void-of-course at 5:47p PT | 8:47p ET | 12:47a(W) UT

I can't always be a cheerleader; sometimes I have to be a consoler.  Or a commiserator.  Things don't look totally bleak but we are feeling that our spirits are required to do more lifting, or "uplifting," than usual in order to keep our faith and optimism.  "A man standing headless or with the head shrouded in black cloth" is said to be eccentric and melancholy, a recluse devoted to "midnight studies."  The mind could be obscured or chaotic.  Or, hidden truths could be discerned.  "A monster with two faces" is duplicitous and deceptive, a slanderer, and we are familiar with the type during any election cycle.  The moon is in Pisces, two fishes going opposite directions, so we could uplift the bickering to a level of Hegelian dialectic where opposing views are somehow reconciled in an overarching vision.

"A false call unheard in attention to immediate service" emphasizes a career focus in the daily chart.  Discrimination is needed in business so that one's enthusiasm for success is aligned with honorability.  If focused on the path one has chosen, one is safeguarded from deviation into pointless divagations.  Then it's as if one were piling up "a great mound of earth and stones with a flowering shrub on the summit."  Carefulness in small things leads to life-continuity and reward.

"The truth" is called into question by Twitter and Facebook and everyone.  We want to be considered fit to judge what is true for ourselves.  There is gloom and fog (untruth, error) and there is sunshine (lucidity, truthfulness).  Of course we want the latter.  While Mercury is retrograde the mind goes back and forth from new to old viewpoints and tries to find a balance. That balance is often unverbalizable.  "I just know that this is right."  Such certainty brings peace of mind.  Then we may be ready for "a gold rush" or pursuing our dreams and ambitions through personal initiative.  Enterprise frees us of limitations.  We choose skill and ultimate good fortune.  However, the way things are now we may restrict the "rush" to anticipation rather than direct action (unless perchance one is a presidential candidate or campaigner).

{Tuesday}  ~Discrimination as Balance and Comfort~

P. S.  One reader wrote to thank me for the "planetary highlights" I tried out experimentally yesterday.  That was good to hear.  However, I am still not sure if I want to make it a daily feature and feel I have said enough for today.  It is under consideration.

~Freedom within Mysterious Knowledge~

Moon in Pisces

There is a desire to assert yourself, to force decisions.  Can you meet with the opposition?  They are elusive.  "Two contending armies" does not sound like fun, but depicts the run-up to the election.  "A storm-swept prairie" is the noise and tumult of the "battleground states" as they vote or prepare to do so.  This is freedom (you choose whom to vote for) but it can be rash and wasteful.  "Fallen idols and desolated temples' could be the lot of either candidate, in fact of both.  There is wantonness on both sides.

On the other hand, in this "relay race" one hands on the baton or torch to whomever one can tag and whomever one believes to be "on one's side."  One is fit to enter into "a group opportunity."   Human values are passed on.  We may not realize we are standing on "a massive, rocky shore" which is the dependability of the natural and social worlds.  Markets, brokerages, government agencies of distribution such as social security or safety nets, are all dependable to the point that they stabilize our lives, and within such stabilization we carry on.

The mysterious is often the domain of Pisces, wherein the moon joins Neptune.  "A man gaining secret knowledge from a paper he is reading" is that delicious sense of being one-up on everyone else when one gets a glimmer of the way things might appear to G*d the Overseer.  Through conscious imaginative effort one makes discoveries.  One is crowned with "a trefoil":  Faith, Hope, and Charity (Love), leading toward schemes for a better world.

Alternate reading:  (When Mercury is retrograde one often gets "out-of-pattern" ideas or methods, experimental ones.  Here is a fresh way of reading the daily chart, as an experiment):

Highlighted planets:
Neptune: obligation-objectives-sympathy-confinement:  Objectives are confined within a realm of sympathy.  One is obliged to consider how others are feeling and responding, though this be elusive.

Uranus:  independence-personality-integration-possession:  One's possessions are integrated according to one's own personality, not someone else's, and it is good to be consistent with what one has already chosen as to money-management.

Saturn:  sensitiveness-consciousness-discrimination-friendship:  Friends have already been chosen according to one's best discrimination and also according to fate (or karma).

Venus:  appreciation-pleasure-assimilation-partnership:  One might share a meal with someone pleasant, or "assimilate the world together" in a way that is pleasing.

}Readjustment Toward Mutual Assistance{

Moon in Aquarius
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week ends at 5:20a PT | 8:20a ET | 12:10p UT
/moon goes void-of-course at 2:55p PT | 5:55p ET | 9:55p UT

Some pressures seem to be easing.  This is the first Saturday almost free of the |difficult third| period for many weeks.  Mars, going backward, is easing up on squares with the three Capricorn planets, though the square with Jupiter is still strong---differences of opinion which can become intense, or even harsh conflict.  Yet homey-ness and friendliness seem possible.

"A battle-field" points out the conflicts just mentioned.  After the battle, or during it but escaping it, "an old man sits beneath a shady tree, his head bowed in thought.  A pilgrim."  There is a philosophic trend.  We need "the eternal verities."  There can be abstruse or mysterious companionship even in solitude.

"An empty hammock" is said to symbolize Rumination, or "inner reorientation and outer readjustment."  This is indeed what we do during a Mercury Retrograde period (lasting until election day, though still-slow Mercury continues its Dark Hermetic Epoch until November 19).  Yet the hammock is empty; after ruminating one gets up to do something.  One does not have to be totally selfless to see that aiding others is a way of aiding oneself.  One might captain "a ferry boat taking people across a wide deep stream."

Luna in friendly Aquarius sextile Mars, while Venus trines Saturn, could add up to "a man and woman standing hand in hand looking with affection toward each other."  There could be amity and concord.  A friend favors one's success.  With the Part of Fortune in the 4th sector of home, there could be "a house-raising."  Through simple good will there is cooperation and mutual helpfulness.  We find fulfillment through one another's gains.

The first paragraph of the Saturday forecast remains relevant.  We are in the heart of the Mercury Retrograde period so calming ourselves is important.  "Hurry and worry" are our bane during these times.  Meditation and prayer are our forte.  We can still keep up with what we have to do, but with poise and inner peace, even contentment, making "let it be" our theme song when there are delays.  Some momentums should be reassuring or fulfilling because Luna trines both the sun and Mercury in water signs.

}In Hiding? or Peeking Out{

Moon in Aquarius
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week continues until tomorrow morning

We live in strange times.  As I write the last presidential debate has not happened.  I'll try to avoid politics in this report.

"An ape seated before a mirror" has huge overtones, it seems.  Doesn't it feel like that as you watch the news?  Which is the ape and which the mirror?  Opinions will diverge radically.  Leon Russell did a song "Magic Mirror" in which he rhapsodizes over how we see ourselves in others, if we dare.  There is also a lot of shenanigan or intrigue behind the scenes (Hunter Biden etc.).  And those who have chosen a hero or heroine to imitate are looking into their mirror to shape themselves to that image.  Secrets? We all seem to have plenty of them, and sometimes they seep out---"a broken bottle and spilled perfume."  You can't put the perfume, or tell-tale signs, back in the bottle; they permeate what people see (or smell) in you.

Occultists may look beyond this world toward invisible entities, whether demonic, angelic, or both.  We may be melancholy about income or "the bottom line" and feel we are clinging for dear life to what we have.  This is partly the uncertainties about the election and partly the always-uncertain Mercury Retrograde period.  (It turns direct on Election Day but that probably won't help election dither and confusion.)  We may need to be content with believing "things will get better" while we investigate or ponder imponderables and specific leads (such as those emanating from that "laptop from hell").

"A great headland over which the sun is rising" shows someone with lofty, elevated opinions who has stability of purpose and strength of mind.  That could be you.  Let's hope the bitter political and other disagreements shall subside enough so that "two women walking together with linked hands talk confidentially."  Maybe that is a non-political personal conversation.  We might benefit from something like that, while the moon is in friendly Aquarius moving gradually from the |hard third| of this week (which was exact during last night's debate).

\Debate Party?/

Moon in Capricorn
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week is with us (most intense today) until Saturday morning
/moon goes void-of-course at 9:36p PT | 12:36a(F) ET | 4:36a(F) UT

I try to keep politics out of these reports, but we can't avoid the fact that the final presidential debate is tonight.  It WOULD happen at a time when the moon will be exactly conjoined to Saturn (perchance Satan) in Saturn's own sign Capricorn, which seems to be the source of much of our pandemic woe (three planets have been therein for the entire period).

The first symbol is suggestive of Hunter Biden:  "A man sitting naked upon a sea-girt rock, covering his eyes with his hands."  This is someone "estranged from his kindred and maybe exiled or outcast from his country."  He "will be short-sighted or have some moral obliquity, and incur severe trouble through this defect."  Of course the media, and debate moderators, are at their worst doing their best to keep Hunter out of view, but there he is sitting on that rock. And maybe Joe nearby.  "A nomadic warrior equipped with javelin and firearms" sounds more like Donald Trump, "nomadic" because he is having a rally in a new state almost every day.  He is "ever ready for the fray, involved in many strifes and quarrels."  "In body robust and in mind offensive to the peace of others, he will not fail to make numerous enemies."  (Yes, the sun and Venus are at these two degrees in Signor Borelli's clairvoyant symbols from 19th-century Italy.)

Both candidates are accused of ill-gotten gains, and we have "an old man carrying two bags of gold clasped at his breast with nervous hands."  This is simply Acquisitiveness, for better or worse.  Voters too are clasping their "bottom line" while awaiting further stimulus.  Foreign trade and costly foreign involvement will be discussed.  Yet Venus's trines with three planets suggest friendliness, and we may have debate parties as if "on a sight-seeing bus."  There can be "naive and indomitable interest in life as a whole" to protect us from pointless partisan gloom and fury.  Some win, some lose.  Take in the scenery.

Yes, let's have a debate party. "A large assembly room.  A large audience and a man at the piano."  The audience and piano are most likely virtual in 2020.  Some of us may be artistic, eloquent and popular.  Could we perchance overcome partisan bickering sufficiently to arrive at a point where our hearts are "affectionate, confiding, unselfish; much influenced by others"?

"The Eyes in His Head See the World Spinning Round . . ."

Moon in Capricorn
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week begins at 2:58p PT | 5:58p ET | 9:58p UT (until Saturday morning)

"The Fool on the Hill," the Beatles song, seems relevant.  Someone, a seer, sees "rings of light in the heavens, zone within zone," but cannot make anyone believe what he deduces from that.  Sounds familiar to me.  "A raven standing on a stone" says "You are a fool!"

We have an eye to our financial needs but should not be covetous.  Perhaps giving to someone or some cause would be appropriate to show to the world and yourself that you are not a miser.  We also need to keep our bodies in shape by right exercise, for we are all "animal trainers" in regard to our physical embodiment.

Jupiter's location and symbol suggest that we feel we are circling round in a dark stairwell, which is typical of the convolutions of Mercury Retrograde, yet there is "light at the top" and we may get rays of that before we reach the happy culmination, to encourage us.  Roving cheerfully toward new experiences, some of them romantic and dangerous, is like being on "a ship in full sail."  For most of us this is in imagination and vision rather than reality.  But we have to dream.

^Magic Carpet^

This is, in the British style, 20 10 2020, or in the American, 10 20 2020.  The election in the U.S. is getting critical.  20 is the Tarot card of Judgment or Final Judgment.

However, I am trying to eliminate politics from these reports.  We have our individual lives apart from the noise and tumult.

Tuesday:

Are you taking an optimistic or pessimistic view of human love these days, or of loves in your life? We have "A well-favored woman, but of evil aspect, standing before a mirror."  This is said to indicate Sensuousness.  Sepharial warns that "unless one urges a strong moral resistance to instincts one will incur shame and dishonor through alliance with the opposite sex."  This fits, perhaps, Venus's tri-septile with Mars and opposition with Neptune, yet she also enjoys trines with Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn.  In Virgo, she may be naturally restrained, yet longing for adventure.  The T square in cardinal signs may precipitate us rather into the Gloom of "a dark pool of water in the shadow of dense foliage."   This could be fatalistic melancholy devoid of ambition or brilliance.  Yet "underneath are the everlasting arms."

Charubel says we might be aware of, connect with, or even BE "a man among men.  One who will spontaneously elicit the goodwill and plaudits of his fellow-men."  Of course this could be "a woman among women."  "Thousands will look up to her for light and guidance."  You may sense what this means in the final few hours before the moon goes void-of-course (time above).  Humanity is "seeking to bridge the span of knowledge" according to the Sabian symbols. That means "making itself a practical instrument for the accumulated experience or perfected wisdom which has built and supports the world in which it lives" (Dr. Jones). This can be through sound reasoning, sometimes.

"The magic carpet" presents a panorama of idealistic potentialities.  It might fly down to pick one up from the "dark pool of water" or melancholy.  One can choose one's place and endowment from what one samples in the panorama.  Then one has earned or inherited "a royal coat of arms," or "authority implicit in the very fact of existence."  Prerogatives and privileges come to each individual in varying forms.

^Toward Valor^

Moon in Sagittarius

Would you rather be "an ape seated before a mirror" or "an ostrich"?  Neither image is flattering on the surface.  The ostrich is pompous, lofty in appearance and assuming he is a hero, but he "despises the ideas of another and has none of his own."  The ape at least is facing herself honestly, perhaps imagining ways of being an actor, imitating others, being an egotistical mimic.  That is creative.

Questions of money are significant.  You may wonder if you are miserly, or if someone else is.  He, she, or you might be mercenary while making notable speculations.  Mars square Jupiter while Mercury is retrograde warns against betting the farm on any "promising" deal.  Conservative money management is better. You are focused on yourself, of course, yet also on expressing yourself among those who might applaud you.  "A man in the midst of brightening influences" receives encouragement from multiple sources, and is responsive to it.

The more reserved side of you is reasonably cautious, yet there is an urge toward "a rough journey" for which one is "equipped, belted and armed."  This could be more an inquisitive mind-journey than a physical one, arising from fearless and aggressive impulses.  Some ideal of what one wants to live out is suggested by "A man with a crown on his head and a spear in his hand."  He has "dignity, valor, and humanity combined."

I hear that people lose friends over politics these days, and I seem to be dangerously close to that myself.  Charubel gives a symbol for today which suggests "thinking slightingly of one's best friends" or "neglecting to confide in them."  Some will "pander to the popular taste" yet eventually "suffer from the public."  All the contradictions are summed up in "An eagle and a large white dove turning one into the other."  We shape our fate according to our ideals.  Can we do that adeptly?

"A strong man, a knight of the field" is not confined to presidential candidates, but which of them one chooses is obviously at issue.  Which "will be steadfast in defense of his rights and those of his country"?  Personally, you may be snatching victory from the tense aspects including the sun's exact square with Saturn today.  What you fear could be upon you but alertness plus caution can give you the victory.  As for alertness, "a ouija board" is available as "effective anticipation" by whatever means you favor.  Your cleverness and acumen channel answers.

We may be ascending "a spiral staircase in a dark enclosure, with sunshine at the top."  There seem small returns for our busy-ness, yet eventually good luck.  Late tonight and tomorrow seem much better (as shown by data above).  "A white-headed man surrounded by happy children" suggests homey-ness and benevolence, prosperity and peace.  One feels pleased to guard the interests of those younger or less mature.

until it enters Scorpio at 10:07p PT | 1:07a(Sa) ET | 5:07a(Sa) UT

Things may seem "gummed up" because of a New Moon within the Via Combusta segment of the zodiac together with the |difficult third of the week|.  The sun closing in on a square with Saturn is rather morose or depressing.  "A volcano in eruption" is what seems to be happening in politics, with accusations and counter-accusations.  Maybe we need to calm down and take a day of relative rest, as suggested by "information in the symbol of an autumn leaf."

"A pugilist entering the ring" needs no comment, as appropriate for both the political competitions and near-fist-fights over methods of dealing with the virus, raging against the shutdown of normal activities. Venus however is forming a trine with the three Capricorn planets and this could be some easeful good fortune, as "a person being carried by four men in a sedan chair."  This could be a bit of self-indulgence.

It indeed looks as if all depends on how we deal with the stressful and angry aspects during this New Moon.  At the best, we could be like "an old man cutting grapes in a vineyard" because we have been prudent enough to take care of business with an eye to the future.  Libra can be a sign of beauty and if it, with the aid of the good Venus aspects, wins out over the stressful Aries-Capricorn squares, we could be on "an elevated promontory crowned with variously colored flowers."  This is light-headed relationships, personal charm, and attractiveness.

}Spiral Staircase{

Moon in Libra
|Karmically serious or sobering third| of this week begins at 12:26p PT | 3:26p ET | 7:26p UT (until Saturday evening)
< moon enters the Via Combusta at 10:35p PT | 1:35a(F) ET | 5:35a(F) UT (until very late Saturday night)

A solitary tree on a rocky height is threaded
By a dark cloud threatening betrayal.
Still it's a point of hope for a traveler
Struggling abortively through knee-deep mud.

He's big, almost a giant, but he failed in most
Things.  His ambitions need better direction.
Without sensitiveness he rawly pushes to
Establish himself like a boxer entering a ring.

From the mud he climbs up a spiral staircase
And circles round in the dark.  Sunshine at the top
Discloses men and women in festive attire
Assembled together with humane feelings.

From lonely beginnings mutual advantages develop.
Astral festivity translates to human concord.

P. S.  Mercury retrograde, as of Tuesday evening, has been evident to me in my neighbors, who have been upset by various factors in their lives and doing "out of pattern" things which pulled me away from my own routines.  That's okay with me, because knowing about MR's tricks, I was able to adapt myself much more smoothly than if I hadn't known.  Also, one good thing was that I researched something about a possible purchase of a tablet for (mostly) reading and consulted a friend who has one, who gave me excellent advice.  Yet, with MR, I am not even sure I will follow it up, yet I feel relieved to know what he told me.  It can be a REsearch time, and sometimes RElief.

Moon in Virgo-->Libra
/moon goes void-of-course at 3:48p PT | 6:48p ET | 10:48p UT
until it enters Libra at 10:55p PT | 1:55a(Th) ET | 5:55a(Th) UT

Some factors look blasé or boring, and we are in the final days of an Old Moon before the New on Friday, and Mercury went retrograde last night (for three weeks).  Where is the oomph?  One of the symbols indicates a graveyard, but this usually means thoughts of what lies beyond death and can be uplifting.  "An ape seated before a mirror" is contemplating the vanity of life, wondering what it all means, but ready to imitate what he or she senses as interesting behavior.

"A pugilist entering the ring" is living out Mars's opposition with the sun.  The ego needs to be triumphant in one way or another.  Therefore we exert ourselves, perhaps at home but in connection with career hopes or whatever elevates our status.  When we've done what we can, we hear "a hidden choir singing" assuring us of the ideality of our experiences and hopes, even of "a power for the good of all" which can ascend toward worship of the Highest.

There is an urge to wander or explore, though this may be mostly in the mind.  "The clear purple sky covered with stars" is the roof of one who doesn't stay long in one place but makes discoveries everywhere.  A desire to feel one's merit makes one want to be hospitable, like "a strong and prosperous-looking man standing with arms extended, holding in his hands a bowl full of wine."  People have needs, and shared pleasure is one of them, which can be healing.  Steadfastness and sincerity bring respect.

The Bouncy, Friendly Generation, now 12-25 years old, Pluto in Sagittarius

Bouncy, Friendly Kids and Young People:

The Pluto in Sagittarius generation, born from November 1995 through November 2008, thirteen years. Their current ages are 12 through 25:

What are the media calling this group? I can't keep up. Generation x, y, z? I just call them the Sagittarius generation because it seems that Pluto, the slowest moving planet in our system marks off the generations more cogently than any other planet. (One could also categorize generations by Neptune and Uranus.)

I'm going to call them the bouncy-friendly generation.

The previous generation was Pluto in Scorpio, born September 1984 through October 1995, eleven years. Current ages 26 through 36.

I have noticed that styles in music are the sharpest way to distinguish the generations. Pluto in Cancer was the '40s-'50s "crooners" when pop music was heavily sentimental. Pluto in Leo was the Beatles and what came after, heavy or light rock and the like. Pluto in Scorpio has been, to my mind, rather morose often, weighty, with huge numbers of death themes, like Five Finger Death Punch; it has also been gangsta rap. But sometimes Christian rap and gangsta rap are mixed up together, as in Big Sean (born1988), Kendrick Lamar (1987) and many others. Their fantastic track Holy Key (produced by DJ Khaled) is an excellent example of this genre at its best. They need to hit the deep stuff, the anger or agony and pain,, sometimes mixed with humor or sarcasm, sometimes with real pathos. Avicii, one of my favorites, even took his name from the Buddhist name of Hell, though his music is not as morose as most emanating from his generation. (Sadly, he took his own life I believe.)

A few years ago when the Sagittarius generation was in its late teens I was asking myself, When will their music hit the scene? And what will it be like? Well, I said to myself, it will be bouncy and friendly. Alive and sweet, serene or cheerful, in contrast to the Pluto-in-Scorpio soul-searching stuff. Lorde was the first Pluto-in-Sag female singer to hit the big time, it seems, and her first album was bouncy and fairly cheery. Her second album was a flop. Justin Bieber? He fits what I think Pluto-in-Sag ought to be, though he was born with Pluto at 28 Scorpio, less than 2 degrees from the end, which bears out what astrologers have said for generations, that planets "on the cusp" of the next sign often carry out the themes of that next sign. (I would not allow for more than two degrees for this.) I am still waiting and looking for the Pluto-in-Sagittarius musicians (now 12 through 25 years old) who will define that generation's music. If you know some, please let me know.

This afternoon I was out trying to enjoy the beautiful fall weather while it lasts, and after a while ended up in a restaurant managed by young people in their early twenties. The Pluto-in-Sagittarius generation. I was greeted by an exceedingly cheerful and friendly young man, my server. The music being played as I sipped water and beer was "current" stuff I didn't recognize, a woman wailing sadly sweet or sweetly sad lyrics. After about ten minutes of this the bartender changed the channel to something totally unexpected---lively, bouncy pop songs from the late 1950s and early 1960s. There were many I had heard as a teenager, which was very refreshing. Included were Elvis Presley and Patsy Kline. This went on for a half hour and I was astounded that this old music (wonderful to me) was what they chose to listen to for a while. Then before I left, it went back to some current stuff I didn't recognize.

I think the Pluto-Sagittarius generation will be--yes--bouncy, cheerful, and friendly. Also, religious or philosophical not in a melancholy but an optimistic fashion.

\Duty Prepares Unlimited Prospects/

Moon in Virgo
We have been in a Dark (Slow) Hermetic Epoch (Mercury cycle) since September 23. Today the three-week CENTER of that two-month Epoch begins, the Mercury Retrograde period, at 6:05p PT | 9:05p ET | 1:05a(W) UT, lasting until Mercury is again motionless, turning direct on November 3. But the Dark or Slow Epoch continues until November 19.

"A man asleep by the side of money-bags" indicates carelessness.  Not just self-indulgence but duty calls.  Then one might be like "a man mining rock with a pickaxe," -- practical, laborious, honest, and just.  Unimaginative service sustains not only the world but ourselves.

"The open Bible with a sword on it" could be an insignia of Amy Coney Barrett.  Charubel says that this is "a truthful, honest and good person" who will "give righteous judgment."  Yet we might also gravitate to "a large ballroom" where there are "music, dancing and singing on the program."  Mercury at its station (motionless) is sextile Venus, showing that performance arts could be prominent and pleasing.

"A child of about five with a huge shopping bag" may want to get into the previously mentioned money-bags to buy trinkets, or perhaps fulfill harmless expectations of fun through acquiring or giving treasure.  "The gate to the garden of desire," however, is opened by a key the heart holds, sweet sentiments and naïve optimism opening into unlimited friendly prospects.

P. S.  The Mercury Retrograde period has a deserved reputation for slowdowns, delays, and technical problems.  These are unpredictable, so while some things may go on normally, others will trickily seem to resist normality and "go kaflooey."  For example, today I could not print the daily chart on which this forecast is based because the printer refused to print.  It gave sputtering sounds now and then and peculiar messages on the screen.  I tried several tactics to get it going and failed.  Then I just waited and after I had started to write the report from charts on the computer screen, not on paper, it finally printed the chart (or rather four of them when I needed only one).  This sort of thing happens more often during any MR period.  Crazy but true. I am also, as you may see, having trouble with getting the font size right.

^Tottering, Happy Crowd?^

Moon in Leo-->Virgo
/moon goes void-of-course at  7:31a PT | 10:31a ET | 2:31p UT
until it enters Virgo at 9:57p PT | 12:57a(Tu) ET | 4:57a(Tu) UT

Technically, very early hours (time above, before v-of-c) would be the time to settle any pressing business.  It would appear many will feel at a loss, now knowing what to do or where to turn, for not only is there the v-of-c but a very tight T square with sun opposite Mars and both square Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn!   Crisis!   You may experience this only subjectively, with a feeling that "all is lost" or "what can I possibly do?"  Others, less fortunate, may have a real crisis on their hands:  "A bridge in a broken and dilapidated condition spans over the dry bed of a river."  This is a warning against "working along a false trail."  Projects may seem to fall through.  "A man of tottering and uncertain gait carries water which he spills on the ground."  This could be faulty judgment or indecision.  "How shall he act who does not know what he desires?"

All is not really lost, however, during a v-of-c period.  The harsh aspects might be a stimulus to get us mobilized for something momentous, even if we can only get it in planning stages.  "A cross formed of darts, a barbed determination on each arm" symbolizes "a very positive character, a person of strong will." DJT is forging ahead with a rally in Florida tonight.  "He will never allow anyone to impose on him.  He is ever on the defensive; one with magical abilities."  (Charubel).  You might see how this applies to yourself.  We also have "a place of amusement with music, dancing, and singing on the program."  Well, the Democrats can't sing since they're wearing masks, but this again sounds like a DJT rally.  I would advise him to have music and colorful banners, etc.  (I try to avoid politics, but we're living and breathing it.)

"A crowd upon the beach" presages "unconditioned friendliness" brought to "a point of immediate expression."  There is "a need to release the pyramiding tensions of personality whenever it is held too closely in rein."  (Dr. Jones)  A party during the v-of-c?  There can be "naive assurance and a delight in every possible aspect of human relationship."  "The gate to the garden of desire" is here somewhere, but as previous symbols hint, we may fail to open it, "contemplating things which might be claimed for the self rather than making any real effort to gain them."  Let's have faith in Venus's sextile with Mercury and trine with Uranus, and have a little fun.  (Oh yes, duh, wear mask.)
