With the moon slow, and Mercury rising after the sun, there is a slowdown of mental processes: not that we are stupider but that our smartness is more internal and less ready to interact rapidly with the external world. Combined with the first days of a Dark Hermetic Epoch, you may at times feel you are sitting and doing nothing but drift with the turning planet.
At those times you may brood a little on the difficulties in a friendship or relationship, what with the sun opposing Mars and Venus opposing Saturn. In some ways this is a Great Separation, with people taking time to be themselves or find themselves apart from their usual companions.
The cyclic nature of life and all phenomena is important to grasp as well as one can. Then, when you see things moving in one direction with which you are not happy, you know they will turn back the other way at some point, probably in the near future. After a huge number of such alternations, and years of experience, with maturity one may begin to be wise to this process and anticipate it intuitively so that one's worries decrease and one is serene in all eventualities. (It is hoped that these forecasts may aid in that direction.)
You may discover things you would like to share, yet wonder if that is feasible or if anyone would understand. Then you are in the shoes of the great discoverers, explorers, inventors and theorists. They learn to keep their mouths shut about their discoveries for years, often, until there is a way to make their knowledge accessible. And, in some cases, only a very few are able to grasp what they have achieved.
Other facets of your life yield best to exact timing, so that you say to yourself, "Yes, I would rather do that, but this is on the schedule so I will do this." No one is a clock or machine but it is advantageous to all to have some clock-like habits as a rhythmic basis for the rest.
The two oppositions mentioned plus a third (Jupiter opposite Saturn, still with us) suggest that you are straddling opposing forces, directions, and opinions. This is not always uncomfortable. It can lead to a status of poise where one has one foot on each side of a dilemma, riding triumphantly above both, letting each support one foot, one leg, one vector of your embodied struggling soul. Then neither can do you harm. Even if they attempt to dominate each other, they lift you above.
Such a graceful stance is aided by little reminders, whether they be stories you recall, a token you carry, the image of someone beloved, or other evidences that you and the human race have transcendent impulses, immortal longings.
It's possible that Thursday, including the evening, may be the best social or entertainment day of this week.
This is a time when you may have doubts about attaining the goal you wanted to attain. Perhaps it is beyond your reach? It is well to aim for the highest you can conceive, but also to be content with what you in fact have achieved and are in process of achieving, for that is considerable in itself. There is no need to diminish it in your mind while you aim still higher.
Help is not an embarrassment. You have had help from others ahead of you or who have attained partially what you had hoped to do yourself. Basking in the light of their achievements is an achievement in itself. Appreciating what has been done by the best is not something everyone can do. When you do, you are subconsciously preparing yourself to take a place beside them. Merit is gained by appreciating and emulating merit.

The Dark Hermetic Epoch has snuck up on us, beginning Monday. Of course, the days in the Northern Hemisphere are getting longer, but by now you must know that by "Dark Epoch" I mean something psychological, in connection with Mercury's cycles. One tends to go into dream-time, that is, the realm of Maya, which is creative but not very practical, more often than in the Bright Epochs. Of course it is a matter of proportion but I think you will see what I mean gradually as this Epoch continues (through April 22, with the peak of it while Mercury will be retrograde from March 12 through April 3).
Yesterday I heard a married couple next door screaming at each other, with the wife threatening to move out and file for divorce. I could only think of Venus opposite Saturn, which began Friday the 24th and continues through March 3 (by ten-degree orb). It is without doubt a difficult aspect. Not only separations and divorces but less dramatic strains in relationships and friendships are to be expected. Of course all depends on how one can respond. Saintliness is required to get through the period unscathed emotionally.
Other meanings of the aspect have to do with the suffering of someone you care for, so that you have to bear with his or her pains or incapacities and emotional deprivations. Again, the only remedy I know is saintliness. For which, I believe, there are no pills.
However, I am happy to say that during this three-day period Venus is quintile Mars, which can be unrelated or related to the previous two paragraphs, that is, it might be some softening of the hard part of a relationship, or else some other or new relationship or friendship which offers promise and some relief.
In other more material, financial or business spheres, the grand trine of Jupiter, Mars and Pluto in earth signs, emphasized by Luna with Jupiter, suggests well-being or satisfying success.
There are warnings against passions getting away with you. That could be the positive passions such as inappropriate appetite or lust, or, when those are frustrated, the negative ones of rage or vindictiveness. This could get even worse, approaching the notoriety of someone who deliberately hurts (such as a terrorist or, more likely one who causes vindictive disruption). This is not to scare you but help you prevent such eventualities.
Patience is required before the full fruits of your labors are realized, but it seems you are well-fortified for such patience, sensing shrewdly how to proceed while waiting, or wait while proceeding. Proceeding with the project, that is, while waiting for results.
Someone at home or in the neighborhood is awakening to her or his potentials through giving of herself or himself in ways which seem mostly appropriate even if sometimes inappropriate.

And back and forth again. By rising above these ups and downs in your mind and spirit you can transcend them and stick with what will be best for your home situation and your finances. Constructing an intelligent way of bridging gaps in your program is highly feasible, so you can think it through and proceed wisely. That means keeping open certain channels toward better things, which requires fresh attention over and over. Will you get to that place you want to be? In the process you have eliminated certain methods which failed in the past, and you can continue to throw out anything which fails too often. The cheerier days of this weekend are Friday and Sunday, with Saturday the pits. So plans for social or happy times should be for those two days primarily.
Friday has the moon in Capricorn with Pluto, squared Venus (odd unconsummated attractions) while trine Jupiter (early) and Mars (late). This is good for business and financial strategy, also for intelligent purchases. But Saturday could find many people buying stupid things and wasting their money. Making Saturday the Sabbath this time would be wise for Jews and non-Jews, Christians and non-Christians.
As I have said (perhaps ad nauseam) and must say again, in these final days of the Bright Hermetic Epoch, through the 26th, it is wise to decide, if you haven't already, on your basic goals and methods. Today is not a bad day for that, and probably Sunday, with Saturday being good also for that but depressing, so that you will see mostly the gloomy side. The moon's square with Saturn (Saturday) is good for "repentance," that is, seeing what mistakes you have made and resolving to do better. If I had to rank them in order of social luck or fun times, I would put today at the top, Friday second, and Saturday in the basement. In case that helps with your planning.

This is tough love, not sweet and clinging love. The moon in Scorpio (Sunday through most of today) has been weird for me. Long-lost thoughts and people in my mind. Questing for the unknown and unknowable. Feeling that death and life are the same. Longing for transcendence but sensing that the autumn and winter are not passed. Listening to some hard rock on the radio which I usually don't listen to. It's from the "dead" past, performed by mostly "dead" musicians, but seems oddly alive, and its bitterness invigorating.
Expect more of that today, at least until the moon enters Sagittarius at 4:57p PT | 7:57p ET | 12:57a(W) UT. The moon is void-of-course until then, beginning earlier at 9:05a PT | 12:05p ET | 5:05p UT. So those eight hours could be, yes, weird.
You have a perfect excuse for a shoddy or casual or naughty Valentine's day gift to your special one. Or wait until the time above to set out in a new direction.
It is good indeed to be careful. You might stumble and fall, more likely metaphorically than literally, so watching your step is wise. However, good things are shaping up under the aegis of Mercury's and the sun's good aspects to both Saturn and Jupiter. There are times when you don't care about that, or believe it, so you feel like retreating, snoozing, taking a solid meditation break. I wish your job would allow that. If it doesn't, you will find a way to live in the inner and outer worlds at once, perhaps slacking off wherever you can until the moon changes signs (paragraph 2).
You don't have to be totally frustrated or inept, but might feel so if you hold on too much to something you need to let go. Things and people change, yet the best you have seen in them remains real and lasting, so you can retain that faith and then stop fretting about the changes, which are hard to encompass at first. Someone who intrigues you has plenty of room to quest and be free, or is set on a chase for something he or she wants, and you join in this vicariously if not actually. There can be lust or seduction.
There can be mourning or sorrow for that which is past. It might be worth while recalling that time is some kind of amazing illusion, not just philosophically or mathematically, but in our lives. We can revive and change the past, or relate to past events and personages gone from this world in a revised manner. Such reorientation transforms sadness to deeper understanding [but not until the sadness has been plumbed to a required limit--Sir Real].

There is good fortune from holding on to things which have benefited you already. Whether you are being generous or not, good things flow to you.

The abortion debate surges anew with the trouble over health-care insurance laws. I am firmly on the side of life, and firmly anti "choice" if it means ending the life of a budding human being. And I don't care how many women or men I offend by that position. That does not mean I think abortion should be illegal, which would doubtless make things worse, but that it is unethical ought to be apparent to everyone. In this particular case, I take the side of the Roman Catholic Church most definitely. That is, they cannot, by spiritual law, be forced to do or support what they consider wrong! That the Obama Administration even tried to make them do that is disgusting and shows a basic lack of principle.
There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding of what is at stake. The existing insurance programs for workers at Catholic institutions do not pay for abortions, but do not deny the workers abortions if they secure them in other ways. That is in no way an infringement on the rights of the workers. When they got the job, they knew the policy.
I am mentioning this not merely to flaunt my deeply considered opinions (I was once on the other side) but to point out as an astrologer that this is happening while Mars is retrograde in Virgo. This has what might be called an amusing aura about it (although abortion is not amusing) because Mars is the planet of males and the male organ, while Virgo is "the virgin." While Mars is in "the virgin" we have another abortion debate. Astrology is so often directly and fascinatingly literal. Further, Mars is retrograde, which suggests reconsideration of Martian or male "initiatives," namely, of conceptions he has induced. A retrograde planet often suggests wanting to go back and change the past. Sorry guys, sometimes you have to live with what you did (or conceived). It is not the end of the world, and obviously not the end of life.
Let us hope and pray that some resolution of this Church-State conflict will be coming very soon.
Mars retrograde in Virgo has other meanings. Virgo is the natural 6th house, broadly stated as "work and workers" or "service and servers or servants." We have as I write the eruptions of the workers in Greece and a nationwide strike there. Also there have been strikes of police in Brazil. "Retrograde" in this case means "this mule is going no farther without a better reward." Oddly enough, Virgo has for centuries been considered the ruler of Greece by horary astrologers. I would predict even more strikes and work-related protests (whether there or elsewhere) during the coming Dark Hermetic Epoch of (more or less) March-April, because Mars will continue retrograde in Virgo.
The changes going on in several states in connection with gay marriage, and court decisions about it, have to do with Venus conjoined to Uranus. This is a gay aspect (though not only that). It has been acknowledged as such by astrologers since shortly after the discovery of Uranus a couple centuries ago (also the squares and oppositions of Venus or the moon with Uranus). It is interesting that it is happening in the early part of Aries, a sign which values individual freedom, and that both planets are square Pluto, a planet which reflects sexual predilections.
Building (perhaps literally) and industry are emphasized for Saturday, or perhaps organizing one's home, homes or places of refuge. Something fateful or inevitable is shaping up regarding present or future travel. At the same time, there could be a feeling of gloom or depression, and so a need to pull back and go deep into oneself, searching out a hidden reason for being.
There is something about wood, trees, or natural growth used for human purposes. The utilitarian merges with the friendly and benevolent.
You are not unsympathetic to the vision and program of some reformer or activist. Perhaps you will benefit (and benefit the world) by taking up a new or old cause.
Getting things done together with others who share the task (or game in some cases) is not only useful but a form of satisfying expression.

An ethical drift or trend relies on what has been learned from the past. And wisely too! The absence of classical education in our schools, so that young people do not know Homer, Plato, the Bible, Philo Judaeus, Hegel, and Kierkegaard, is a tragedy and a deep deprivation. Generations of superficial nitwits who know nothing but how to push buttons on machines are coming up. (Since I mentioned philosophers, let me drop the name of J. N. Findlay, whose two-volume book, The Discipline of the Cave and The Transcendence of the Cave is enormously important. Like most things valuable, it has been around for a while but almost no one knows about it. More secret treasure which it is my duty and destiny to point out.)
Self-admiration usually stems from good luck. Whether there is really "luck" is a philosophic question into which I shall not enter. But you will notice people in power positions, and companions, who are filled with self-admiration over the good fortune the cosmos or its Lord has dispensed to them. "Look what I have gained! How great I am!" The Psalms and the book of Job both lament the vanities of this type.
Those who keep saying "Oh, just look through evil and pretend it isn't there" may be preparing their own disintegration by the evils they ignore. This applies in the larger social-political sphere and also in the domain of personal health and hygiene. It is true that giving power to evil is a mistake, but ignoring it is giving it power in another way. Rather, transforming it is required. With that clue you may see what to do.
Kindness at the international level, as well as locally, is an amazing trait of millions of unsung and often unpaid or poorly paid human beings, who are real heroes and heroines, and who, by their acts which preserve some of the world's harmony, ought to be heroes to the military types who would have to fight more wars and make more sacrifices except for the labors and giving of those who hold the world together, such as the International Rescue Fund.
Aristocracy is not a bad thing. It means the rule of the best. We all hope for that (so long as there has to be "rule" at all). Oligarchy is the problem, the rule of the few, and plutocracy, the rule of the wealthy. The wealthy might be aristocrats, good people, or plutocratic oligarchs, just "lucky" ones who serve their own desires and ignore the plight of all others. In the former case, they deserve support and applause, as in some members of the Kennedy family and, to some degree, people like Warren Buffett. We need aristocrats, not oligarchs.
There are others, often country folk either poor or rich, whose smooth alliance with the natural environment accompanies a heart of natural generosity, so that their ruggedness is a boon to neighbors, family, and the world. The good people of the planet need to recognize one another past veils of religious or political belief and life-style maya.

When we find ourselves nerveless or without power we tend to look for a tonic of some kind, whether coffee, other stimulants, recreation, or rest and meditation. Much of this may be going on today, in order to recover strength and purpose.
Some of us treasure knowledge for its own sake, and the activities which lead to greater understanding, such as study or research, whether or not this helps in a career or business or furthers income. Is "knowledge per se" an attainable goal? Or, in accord with the trend of the time, is real knowledge basically technology, that is, the ability to "do" something in the material world? I leave the answer to you. The professorial type is often scorned by businessmen, and the businessman by the professors.
The discussion of loneliness or aloneness, and the non-marrying kind, in yesterday's report is even more relevant today. Whether in a relationship or out of one, you may find that what you feel deeply you need to do has to be more or less alone or solo. Not that you do not require cooperation, but you want to manage even that as much as you can.
People oppose one another for good reason sometimes, but if the opposition becomes a thing in itself it can dominate one's thinking, feeling, and energy to the point that one is incapacitated for anything beneficial. Making one's case as best one can, and then letting it go, to attend to one's own interests, may be best. The contest will be decided later, by One of whom your opponents may not be cognizant.
Who are these people vying for power in the U. S. A.? Rick Santorum seems the most conventional, a self-defined family man, and his sun-sign is Taurus which fits well with that type. It is, however, a sign which desires power (as in Hitler, Saddam Hussein and Tony Blair, all Taurus the bull). Ron Paul is a man of principle, sun-sign Leo the lion, who enunciates what he thinks is real and true, and his sincerity attracts young people to him (Leo is the sign of the natural fifth house of youth). Newt Gingrich is a classic Gemini (twins), appearing to be on both sides of most issues, "intellectually promiscuous" as one commentator called him, clever, witty, and somewhat unpredictable, all traits of his sign. Gemini is also said to be "the sign of thieves" or deceivers, when cleverness overcomes integrity, and of that he has been accused. Mitt Romney, Pisces, seems to be a fish-oil or snake-oil salesman, with his fishy sweet smile concealing what purposes? Charm belongs to his sign, but also sometimes confusion about motives or uncertainty about direction. His religion figures prominently in his life, as often with members of his sun-sign. Other than someone who gains and spends huge sums, what is he really? Barack Obama is Leo, as have been Mussolini, Hailie Selassie, Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Bill Clinton. I admire and applaud Leo as a well-intentioned sign, but its natural kingship can turn to tyranny. However, the sign's administrative abilities are well-known. Obama as well as Paul attracts young people, as did Clinton.
I told a friend today that I longed for a third-party or fourth-party candidate to vote for.
Venus is conjoining Uranus in early Aries. Wouldn't it be fun to put on a costume announcing your supremacy and parade around as one who deserves respect, admiration, and obedience? You have some such tendency. You are forging ahead in ways you keep mostly to yourself.

The tug of war between self-sufficiency and emotional dependence upon an object of affection is going on. You don't want to admit you need someone. So you argue out reasons why you are either not with someone or are with a particular someone and what the problems are, but none of this leaves you completely satisfied. When people don't agree with you, when you thought they loved you, you feel emotionally helpless. Yet mentally, you are strong, and hide your suffering.
Business conditions are such that, no matter what your worries over the past year, you are patient and sense that providence is helping you. Therefore you can make wise choices which will benefit you a long time to come, whether in investment, job search, or improvement of relations with clients or customers. When it comes to supervisors, there could be more suspicion because you are not sure just what they are up to; each wants to be first and there is rivalry. You yourself want to be first in your own sphere and can make assertive strides in that direction.
Some individuals seem destined to be alone, not marrying, avoiding too-close personal commitment, yet look longingly toward some who might fulfill their buried emotional yearnings. Still they bide their time, and perhaps find fulfillment in other than binding relationships. Self-marriage is peculiar internal wedlock.
Some of this sort used to become school-masters, or follow intellectual or religious occupations. Someone of the type might get your attention or interest. One can see the tendency in some children or young people also.
Others, who feel privileged and keep to themselves, are secretly patriarchs of power, not spurning marriage but holding it subordinate to ambition.
Passion and strength lead to long labor which is sure to be a march of advancement toward goals. The weak either do not attempt this, or become strong in the endeavor.

The practical merges with or blends with the social in a large way on this Full Moon day. You idealize certain people and are willing to put up with a great deal in them which is not up to standard, because you believe they are learning and developing.

There is always the Supreme to cling to when things seem harsh, and admonitions from Him to which one can be attentive (the voice of conscience in conventional terms).
There is a surprising amount of stubborn strength in someone you have been sweet on or who has been sweet on you. He or she will not yield to authoritative demands but fights blindly, boldly to hold on to his or her intentions.
You have faith in a great deal which has not yet been fully worked out, and today with the sun and Mercury together, marking the center of this Bright Hermetic Epoch (lasting through the 26th), you might wisely estimate and project exactly what you hope to accomplish in the next few months, for your vision is sharp and clear. What has seemed impossible in the past may yet be possible. A changing scene does not have to indicate a changing focus. Rather, wherever you are you can use skills and perceptions you have developed. Visualizing how this might work out in detail could be useful, and writing it down or drawing pictures.

Weekend of February 4-5, 2012
So much is straightforward now, during this Bright Hermetic Epoch (three more weeks), that I advise you to remember what you are learning and discovering and "seal it in" your consciousness so you don't lose it. You have been seeing what to drop and what to keep.
It seems the weekend is relatively low-key and you are free to use it as you wish. You will not want to abandon your plans and ambitions entirely, thus an A rating for the "work" category. Yet there is a lot of encouragement for sheer relaxation, hence an A in that category also. SuperBowl Sunday looks quite good socially because of the moon's good aspects to the Mars-Venus opposition, although its square with Saturn warns of covert uneasiness which needs to be faced and overcome so that there are not disquieting flare-ups of argument or conflict. Though having a good time, you care about responsibilities of conscience also.

An Undevout Astrologer? Friday's Forecast

The moon is gratifying our desire for a happy Friday, for I have not found its square with Venus to be terribly troublesome in the past. It can be a kind of temptation, a desire to jump into some attractive relationship prematurely, but the results do not have to be bad. It can be fascinating. The fact that it is also square Mars, which opposes Venus, is why I couldn't give the day an A rating socially. However, "bold" could be the right word, if you are reasonably careful not to step on toes metaphorically (Mars in Virgo opposite Venus the sign of the feet). Dancing, however, could be a thrill.
Money factors seem on the up-and-up. Your mind can locate strategically whatever will benefit you whether financially or socially. This has an element of fate, which one can lean on as it leans on oneself, in which it is comfortable to trust.

An Undevout Astrologer?
One reason I am emphasizing the Bible, religion, spirituality, is because of the serious truth of an old adage, repeated by Max Heindel, that "an undevout astrologer is mad." This has more than one meaning. First, anyone who perceived the truths of astrology and yet could deny Intelligent Planning of the solar system and of human beings would indeed be mad! Second, pride would overtake an undevout astrologer, who might begin to think himself master of the universe.
Some kind of devoutness in the face of the Infinite, and of our Creator, however one chooses to visualize Him or It, is absolutely necessary to anyone rising beyond the dull perceptions of ordinary humanity.
On the topic of the Bible, continued:
3. Another problem (two were discussed yesterday) connected with appreciating the Bible is the absurd notion that everything in it is presented and meant to be taken literally. It is as if the critics of religion and the Bible had no elementary perception of what hyperbole and metaphor are, or what inspired writings are, which invariably use hyperbole and metaphor and other literary devices to give some hint of Realities which, of course, if they are of G*d or the Divine, are way beyond our ordinary thinking ability.
Therefore those who make fun of the notion of God as the Creator of the universe in six days are simply silly, unlearned, uneducated. They do not know that centuries ago, by Philo in Alexandria, by the Jewish cabalists everywhere, the teachings of Genesis were interpreted allegorically and spiritually. Only American Christian fundamentalists of the most simplistic sort take these stories literally. Even the scriptures they purport to believe in refute them, for they say that "a thousand years to the Lord is as one day." Then why not a million or a billion years?
Of course, these atheists do not want to know about the truly profound spiritual interpretations of the Scriptures, spanning many centuries, because they are so firmly committed to and locked into their superficial materialistic preconceptions that no one can jolt them out of them, except possibly death or a near-death experience. The moon is gratifying our desire for a happy Friday, for I have not found its square with Venus to be terribly troublesome in the past. It can be a kind of temptation, a desire to jump into some attractive relationship prematurely, but the results do not have to be bad. It can be fascinating. The fact that it is also square Mars, which opposes Venus, is why I couldn't give the day an A rating socially. However, "bold" could be the right word, if you are reasonably careful not to step on toes metaphorically (Mars in Virgo opposite Venus the sign of the feet). Dancing, however, could be a thrill.
Money factors seem on the up-and-up. Your mind can locate strategically whatever will benefit you whether financially or socially. This has an element of fate, which one can lean on as it leans on oneself, in which it is comfortable to trust.

An Undevout Astrologer?
One reason I am emphasizing the Bible, religion, spirituality, is because of the serious truth of an old adage, repeated by Max Heindel, that "an undevout astrologer is mad." This has more than one meaning. First, anyone who perceived the truths of astrology and yet could deny Intelligent Planning of the solar system and of human beings would indeed be mad! Second, pride would overtake an undevout astrologer, who might begin to think himself master of the universe.
Some kind of devoutness in the face of the Infinite, and of our Creator, however one chooses to visualize Him or It, is absolutely necessary to anyone rising beyond the dull perceptions of ordinary humanity.
On the topic of the Bible, continued:
3. Another problem (two were discussed yesterday) connected with appreciating the Bible is the absurd notion that everything in it is presented and meant to be taken literally. It is as if the critics of religion and the Bible had no elementary perception of what hyperbole and metaphor are, or what inspired writings are, which invariably use hyperbole and metaphor and other literary devices to give some hint of Realities which, of course, if they are of G*d or the Divine, are way beyond our ordinary thinking ability.
Therefore those who make fun of the notion of God as the Creator of the universe in six days are simply silly, unlearned, uneducated. They do not know that centuries ago, by Philo in Alexandria, by the Jewish cabalists everywhere, the teachings of Genesis were interpreted allegorically and spiritually. Only American Christian fundamentalists of the most simplistic sort take these stories literally. Even the scriptures they purport to believe in refute them, for they say that "a thousand years to the Lord is as one day." Then why not a million or a billion years?

Secret Treasure; Thursday's Forecast
A lot of thinking is going on. There are intellectual, philosophic or religious differences to reconcile or fight out (Mercury square Jupiter) and differences of habit and predilection which make for separation or covert repugnance or indifference even toward those important to you. Many are struggling to re-invoke health rules they have temporarily abandoned (Mars retrograde in Virgo opposed to Venus). "Oh, I have fallen off my exercise program, or recommended diet." Of course it is well to keep trying.
The moon in Gemini trine Mercury and the sun in Aquarius can be cheerfulness about everyday things, routines, job, and co-workers. It favors also business or financial moves or transactions. A happy social element, plus quick insight, lightens tasks. This may reach its peak just before the time given in the ratings.

The vexed question of Bible-reading hinges on a lot of things, two of which I will mention:
1. There is a lot of false, injudicious, confused or confusing use of the Bible by a lot of groups, teachers, and preachers. Therefore those who have suffered under their direction or control as children, or later, reject the whole Bible rather than realizing that those who were interpreting it to them were, simply, wrong.
2. The Bible is only part of the world's wisdom. The teachings of the East, especially of Hinduism for me, reaching a culmination way beyond traditional Hinduism in Sri Aurobindo (and at a different level in Sai Baba), are necessary to expand or supplement the Semitic teachings of the Bible. There are also the teachings of Plato and the Neo-Platonists, often compatible with the Hindu contribution, which provide a really important supplement or complement to the Bible, as many gnostic Christian and Jewish groups and seekers have recognized.
So, to any who are interested, I must say: If you were to read the Bible, according to a good plan (I have one which I would offer to anyone who writes to me), and forget everything you heard in Sunday School, or confirmation class, or from TV or street preachers, or anyone else, and just ponder those Scriptures as if you had never heard of them before, with an open, inquiring mind and searching heart, you would be amazed at what you find.
Thus the title, "Secret Treasure." And I mean that more literally than you might surmise. Financial success (or else contentment with what one has), prosperity, fulfillment of every kind, is taught by those peculiar, obscure, disturbing, alarming, yet often comforting and illumining chapters, whether in the Old or New Testament, Tenach or Gospel, prophets or apostles. There are secrets within them which I will not tell, because you need to find them for yourself if they are to benefit you.
