}Advantages Through Intriguing Connections{

It's the Full Moon day-and-evening; consciousness is broadened and intense.

A sharp approach to things is lastingly effective, carving out your hopes through clean, telling communication. People will be amiable when you seem real to them, grounded in reality.

Differing attitudes and opinions require adjustment, but this need not be harsh. You could win over an opponent and gain rewards in the process. Confidence in yourself and your manner of expression sets you up for fulfillment.

Someone beautiful or handsome in your ancestry is breaking out through you and your appearance. There is a touch of refinement in your home and neighborhood which brightens the coming holiday season and its merriment.

You are ingenious and clever when sorting out material possessions and arranging them, plus getting physical exercise, emulating a happy ideal in your mind so that you find, experimentally, your most progressive course for the moment.

Pestilent individuals (or animals or insects) might seem to be at enmity with your peace of mind, yet you can find a way to serenity if you rise beyond anxiety and do what is immediately protective.

Courage and persistence are winning accolades for you. You can instruct people in what you know and gain much in the process. What you have tested through experience you feel confident teaching.

Your high school class, college friends, brothers or sisters or others from the past may seem to gather round you for reminiscence, either now or presaging meetings during the holidays. It is fun to be detectives investigating one another, as it were, in subtle ways, to gratify curiosity and make life interesting.

\Challenges Met Effectively/

We have Prime Time but a rather dubious Prime because lunar aspects are harsh. This could mean tackling things which are challenging.

The emotional tone could be harsh also, people sensing their differences more than their harmonies.

Experimenting with communication is the order of the day. It doesn't matter how old you are, you are learning new ways of putting your thoughts into words or making your case. You can make your mark through unusual skills, which you could probably not teach if you tried.

Even then, educating people, either children or those less skilled, is an emphasis quite pleasing. Or you might go to a lecture or reading.

You clear away whatever has been frustrating your work. Servants or subordinates may be on your mind and you can understand their needs and satisfy them through a bit of spiritual renunciation or tolerance, participating in their labor so to speak.

Unusual understanding or clever skill (Mercury square Uranus) makes you feel you have entered uncharted territory which yet pleases you through a sense of adventure. You delve into whatever needs reordering at home and may discover treasure you had forgotten.

You are avid for better control of your home, office or workshop. You see how to make using it more of an adventure through patterns in time and space you control almost artistically.

Someone elderly may amaze you by his or her renewed vitality.

People are fascinated by mysteries requiring solution. As Nancy Drew or Frank Hardy you could participate in the enthrallment of the adventure. You need to take your time and postpone precipitous judgments; rely on valid instruction; and then see what develops in a way you can share with those who want results.

An effective approach to satisfaction requires asking for help from someone who has the power to grant or deny a request. This individual is focused on his or her own needs more than yours, yet will listen. Or, if this is no one in particular right now, pleading with the Highest can be effective if you are honest, straightforward, and willing to accept guidance from above.

*Energetic Community Satisfaction*

The moon goes void of course at 3:34p PT | 6:34p ET | 11:34p UT; before that, Prime Time; so plans ought to be straightened out before then.

It's an upbeat day for the most part, even if you feel sensitive about spending.

Innovations you have contemplated may look too costly, so you pull back, as if chained down.

But in the realm of pleasures you could be happy, enjoying a placid, festive time with the allurement of erotic or semi-erotic attraction.

If you feel nerveless or apathetic about human relations, this could be because of disappointments rankling under the surface. If you rise beyond setbacks you will not feel timid about connecting with people.

Taking some risks seems natural to you and may be all right. You are sensitive to potentials when it comes to your home, perhaps wanting to change it, improve it, or even move. It is possible that this is a good idea, although today you may change your mind about it a dozen times as if moved by invisible spirits.

A desire to be on the move could involve journeying, or more likely thoughts about it. You have in mind an image of someone who traveled as a teacher or guide, and secretly would like to emulate him.

You are persuasive when it comes to family matters and could impress someone sufficiently so that their mind is changed about something important, and they get moving in the way you feel is correct. This has to do with neighbors, community, home, and ultimately career.

Meanwhile it is well to enjoy easy-going connections and enjoyments while they are available.

Foecast for Friday 27 November 2009

Friday 27 November 2009

*Machismo, Chutzpa or Noble Intent*

I am still deliberating whether or not to continue with these forecasts in their present form. I am writing, of necessity, while the moon is void of course on Thanksgiving morning, so perhaps my musings about the future of this column/blog/forecast/report are premature. One loses faith in things while the moon is void of course.

Someone wrote recently that I am too hard on myself. I appreciate the thought, letting me off the hook if the reports are less than perfect, but I really do not want to write and post a report which is only half-correct or rings bells only half the time. A critic could say that anybody could do that with sufficient scheming and cleverness, regardless of whether he or she used astrology, Tarot cards or tea leaves. I want to do something better than that.

I just read Wednesday's forecast, since that day is behind us, and felt that it was not hitting what I needed to hear for that day. Anyone who has done astrology knows that it is one of the most complex sciences around, with so many interacting variables in any one chart or on any one day that only a monstrously powerful and comprehensive intellect could synthesize all of them into something simple or straightforward.

On the other hand, the |difficult| third of the week is indubitable and consistent. I could perhaps just post a weekly report giving those times and some other brief clues to each day. That would take away the complex flavor and subtlety of the daily reports, which sometimes do hit things remarkably well. But it would also take away much misleading speculation which probably helps no one even if it is "interesting."

I am not throwing this in your lap or asking for you to communicate your support. I know many of you are very loyal readers and find something helpful here. But it is very likely that hundreds of others have read the report for a few days and thought, "This stuff is ingenious but not very accurate or helpful." And then never returned.

So it is all up in the air. I am trying to find a way between the perhaps overly complex reports I have been writing and something so simple and basic that it is almost worthless. That is not an easy task.

Friday is a case in point. It is within the |difficult| third of the week and yet there are a great many smooth aspects and in fact the general atmosphere of things is improving on into at least the middle of December. Whatever your recent troubles have been, I believe they are lessening. You have learned some things you needed to learn.

There seems a game-like atmosphere on Friday. This could be sports or games for some, entertainment such as theatre, movies or concerts for others.

There is something masculine about the day with the moon in Aries trining Mars in Leo. Maybe you will buy toys for boys. As for "Black Friday," surely a depressing designation which I never heard in my boyhood, I cannot say it is a good shopping day; I would never say that about a day in the |difficult| third of the week. Yet there is an emphasis on childhood or youth, which is why I mentioned toys.

People are concerned about how their personalities impact people, and so may seem vain, yet they are also serious about giving something to the world through laborious self-expression.

People often wonder whether religion and spiritual seeking are merely a sign of weakness. No, they are not, but they can give that impression simply because to pursue them one has to drop worldly or "practical" matters for a time.

You are a captive of your most cherished interests and desires. That may be all right temporarily while you enjoy life, hopefully in ways which don't get you in trouble. There are explosive possibilities if you were to get carried away.

You will encounter someone who is demanding and somewhat harsh, good-natured and wise, wanting to travel in order to spread his influence. This could be a teacher who does not try hard to please his students, yet gets respect.

Caring about your mission, concerns and noble intentions, you may give the impression of being remote or indifferent. But you are really intent on something serious which will help the world.

Yet the "game or entertainment" aspect of the day is persistent, so you will be able to enjoy yourself when you permit yourself leisure.

~Community Deliberation~

There is not much reason to worry about the moon being void of course on a holiday, since a holiday is precisely a time when we take leave of ordinary business. That condition prevails from 6:19a PT | 9:19a ET | 2:29p UT until the moon leaves Pisces for Aries at 7:12p PT | 10:12p ET | 3:12a(F) UT.

The |difficult| third of the week could be mellow this time because the moon is trine both Venus (earlier) and the sun (later). Still, you will note that people are touchy, having to oomph up holiday cheer self-consciously rather than falling into it easily.

Communicating is a problem, with people feeling bound or limited about certain things and wanting to escape from hard circumstances, but not wanting to spill all this out on a holiday or make others uncomfortable about it. People may talk about their homes, the problems there, or the possibility of moving.

Sorrowing for the young, or wishing one could improve their lot, is going on, whether they are babes, children or young adults going through hard times. Bringing them back to a level of normal ease in living requires wisdom.

People are clearing away obstacles to their fulfillment. Disappointment with present circumstances leads to efforts to change them, yet there is lassitude and lethargy to overcome.

Someone who has gotten himself or herself lost to family and friends is a subject of attention. The lost sheep, as it were, is seeking rebirth in a way not easily understood.

Self-obsession is dissolving through social interaction. That is good but can be upsetting in the initial stages, until one realizes that nothing is lost by 'fessing up or letting others have their way when that is not really threatening.

Community functions are challenging because they sometimes bruise the little ego. Some will be asserting their privilege to be free, go where they want to go when they want to go. There's nothing wrong with that if it is courteous and respectful of others.

Somebody might suggest a sort of house-raising activity, or cleanup, or building something. This could be an interesting project either in a group or individually. It's wonderful to bring order out of chaos in a living situation. You could appeal to neighbors or relatives to get going in a direction helpful and uplifting to all. Even if this goes nowhere fast today (moon void of course) it is inspiring, and could be fulfilled at a later time.

~Daringly Insubstantial Creativity~

Prime Time continues until the |difficult| third of the week begins at 8:11p PT | 10:11p ET | 3:11a(Th) UT. It will last through Thursday and Friday until Saturday morning. We have this kind of a Thanksgiving one third of the time so it is nothing to shun. Low-key is the keynote. Little plans are better than big ones. At celebrations, people may be subdued and leave early. But other factors including lunar aspects suggest that the |hard| time will not be as bad as last week.

Back to today, Wednesday, Prime until the time above: You have tried to make innovations lately, and may see how they are paying off. This could include optimistic communications with key people. You may feel walled in by differences in beliefs and priorities; yet some communion is possible.

Prudence and care are helpful, even when it comes to entertainment, so you may hang close to home. Children and young people develop their individuality boldly.

You can clear away defeats and disappointments through music, poetry, or Scripture. Resting is sometimes the best activity. Then when it has done its work of refreshment you start again with renewed hope.

Calculating how to receive could go well. Of course there is no receiving without giving. So you calculate your prospects from various angles, alert to opportunities, even opportunities to give or serve. A spiritual or religious attitude helps define priorities.

When weary of ordinary pleasures you arrive at a more selfless attitude which grants serenity. There is no reason why your tastes and desires should coincide with those of people close to you.

Community functions and displays help you choose what you want. People are trying to pull together in an inspiring direction even when they know they disagree in various ways. The leader you follow is always a few steps, or miles, ahead.

You distinguish between the valuable and the illusive when you get in the stream of things. Then even imaginary or visualized beauties become real to yourself and those with whom you interact. Insubstantial glory is actually as real as a cartoon character, or the hero or heroine of a graphic novel. To live in human minds and feelings boldly is to be alive. When the moment is real, the future takes care of itself.

Animal Sacrifices in Nepal

[The forecast for Tuesday appears beneath this special message.]

I am often amazed by the way in which the Sabian Screen of Prophecy comments on world events, or events in my life.

Since I have just read the lessons for a month from now, to proof them, I do not remember exactly which lessons contain Marc Edmund Jones's comments on animal sacrifices and the Mosaic laws which sanctioned them. I do know that he said a lot of brilliant things about all that, and the fact that he says such things which no one else has ever said is is the main reason I believe in him and believe that he represents the Hierarchy of Masters (although of course no one represents it perfectly, and he himself would make no claim to have done that).

Tomorrow, November 24, in Nepal a huge animal sacrifice is planned, in which 20,000 or 25,000 (I have seen both figures) animals are planned to be slaughtered in the name of some goddess or other. In fairness, I must say that this is perhaps no worse, and perhaps not as bad, as the regular everyday slaughter of animals in the United States of America, because that is done in horrendous, heinous circumstances which deprive these animals of the right to any kind of a life, often chained up in their own excrement throughout their lives, unable even to turn around. That is so cruel that it might be even worse than the animal sacrifices in Nepal. In fact, it probably is. So if you eat the corpses of animals, please to not congratulate yourself that you are more civilized than the Nepalese who intend to slaughter these animals.

Many in Nepal are calling for this slaughter to be prevented. Intelligent and spiritually sensitive people everywhere can see the folly and evil of it. I am mentioning it not because I want to be a crusader here for animal rights, but because it fits in with the current lessons in the Thaumaturgic Message on the animal sacrifices of the Hebrews.

Here is part of a post from the Environment News Service http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/nov2009/2009-11-22-02.asp :

In a November 3 article in the "Kathmandu Post," Maneka Gandhi appealed to the people of Nepal to abandon the killing of animals at the Gadhimai Festival.

A minister in four governments, the Indian politician, animal rights activist, and environmentalist said that this is not a way to honor the goddess, who will be instead be dishonored by the deaths and suffering of the animals. "Priests frighten villagers into believing that terrible things will happen if the goddess is not placated with animal sacrifices," she wrote.

She detailed the ways in which the festival is a profitable enterprise for priests, moneylenders and animal sellers. "The festival is a business, and profit is the motive for killing so many animals. Villagers go into debt to buy the animals to be sacrificed. Debt leads to bankruptcies, and when the small farmers lands are confiscated to become the property of large landowners, then the former farmers become day laborers," wrote Gandhi. "The festival exploits both humans and animals."

The local business community is expected to raise about two million euros from sales of animal hides and carcasses as well as payment for logistics and recreational facilities.

The Tibetan Buddhist master Lama Zopa Rinpoche is requesting that all Buddhist centers and students read the Golden Light Sutra and pray that the killing may be halted before it begins. "I have asked Kopan Gompa [near Kathmandu] to send some monks to read it at the stupa and make strong prayers for the sacrifice not to happen, to dedicate like that and of course dedicate for world peace," said Lama Zopa in a widely circulated email.

The Buddha Boy, known for his Buddha-like ascetic life in the jungle, today moved to the Gadhimai Temple in an attempt to stop the sacrifice in the district where he was born and raised. Officially called by his Tibetan name Palden Dorje Tamang Rinpoche, or by his Nepali name Ram Bahadur Bomjan, he intends to preach non-violence and offer a blessing at the venue to stop the slaughter.

All this is especially sad for me because November 24 is the day of Sri Aurobindo's Siddhi, the day he acquired supernormal powers of a magnitude unheard of in the history of the world (1926). He did this not by animal sacrifices or primitive magic but by making touch with and embodying the Supreme in His and Her universal omni-competence, omni-awarness, and omni-charity or love.

Although the cultures are very much different, I cannot help thinking of Jesus driving out those who sold animals for sacrifice from the Temple in Jerusalem a few days before he was arrested and killed. His motive was not animal rights, within that culture, but the profanation of the Temple by using it for crude profit-getting. And of course we know that in the Christian tradition even the motive for animal sacrifices came to an end by reason of the Supreme Sacrifice.

~Compulsion Toward Ideals~

We have Prime Time and it seems like a useful and upbeat day.

Alienation from family is a possibility. If it is necessary to reject some of their wrong notions, it is necessary. For your own protection you should be careful how you make that known to them.

It could be, anticipating Thanksgiving, a day of philanthropy. There are good causes which need your support. You will feel better about them, yourself and life if you make some contribution either monetary or otherwise.

Whatever illness, major or let us hope minor, you have been combating, or perhaps weakness or lack of energy, may be up for review and a renewed attack to extirpate it. By investing in the future of your family, community, country or special group you strengthen your resources.

A wonderful thing is your mind's agility and ability to grasp practical, useful facts and connections. History may get special attention. Knowing the past could help us avoid repeating its tragic mistakes. In your personal life you could figure out something in connection with machines, gadgets, or food preparation. This could be a useful shopping day. Yet you also have literary tastes to be indulged.

You know of someone unappreciated by the world who has given so much to it. He or she could be "dead" in the sense of living on another plane of reality than the world visible to our physical eyes. Or not, but this person has earned your deep appreciation, which is partial repayment for what you have received.

Those who are in financial trouble may be eminent and strong in other ways. Their impulses lead them to attempt what is beyond them and yet their endurance wins respect, and ultimately enough income, from one source or another, to pursue what motivates them.

There is color and romantic interest, no matter where you go or what you do. It is hard to know whether this is good or not, because it is complex and tricky. You may feel compelled to do what your better judgment would not approve. This could be in connection with entertainment, self-indulgence, eating, drinking or erotic attraction. People are falling into temptation. Yet there is protection for those who raise their sights. A saintly, merciful, kindly woman is an important influence to keep you from sliding and protect you.

Monday 23 November 2009

Sunday evening I watched a movie from 2005 entitled "Why We Fight." It won the Sundance Grand Jury Award.

I recommend it heartily. One of the most moving and impressive moments in it is Dwight D. Eisenhower's statement, just before he left the office of President, about the danger of the military-industrial complex in a supposedly free society. A complex and thoughtful man, who may have been wrong in some of his Presidential decisions, nevertheless he had dared to oppose Truman's decision to use nuclear bombs against Japanese civilians.

This impelled me to think, Certainly we need retired or retiring generals and other military men to stand up for what is right--rather than what is expedient for the military but usually not good for the nation.

Will they start protesting the Afghan war too late, after agonizing damage and suffering has been caused?

Here is one piece I found from two years ago, still highly relevant, about courageous U. S. military men who dared to stand up for what is right. We, the American people, need to stand up against military waste, corruption, and tyranny. It is not our country unless we re-take it. 57 per cent of our annual budget goes to military spending. That could be cut in half tomorrow with no loss to our security, in fact, a great gain. The losers would be the endlessly greedy military contractors. The next time you hear someone complain about the budget deficit, remember that 57 per cent our our annual spending goes to the military, not to health care, not to schools, not to human needs, but to human destruction.

Generals Opposing Iraq War Break with Military Tradition

by Mark Sauer

The generals acted independently, coming in their own ways to the agonizing decision to defy military tradition and publicly criticize the Bush administration over its conduct of the war in Iraq.

What might be called The Revolt of the Generals has rarely happened in the nation's history.

In op-ed pieces, interviews and TV ads, more than 20 retired U.S. generals have broken ranks with the culture of salute and keep it in the family. Instead, they are criticizing the commander in chief and other top civilian leaders who led the nation into what the generals believe is a misbegotten and tragic war.

The active-duty generals followed procedure, sending reports up the chain of command. The retired generals beseeched old friends in powerful positions to use their influence to bring about a change.

When their warnings were ignored, some came to believe it was their patriotic duty to speak out, even if it meant terminating their careers.

It was a decision none of the men approached cavalierly. Most were political conservatives who had voted for George W. Bush and initially favored his appointment of Donald Rumsfeld as defense secretary.

But they felt betrayed by Bush and his advisers.

"The ethos is: Give your advice to those in a position to make changes, not the media," said Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton, now retired. "But this administration is immune to good advice."

Eaton has two sons serving in Afghanistan and Iraq; his father, an Air Force pilot, was shot down and killed over Laos in 1969. He said his frustration began festering in 2003, when he was assigned to build the Iraqi army from scratch. His internal requests for more equipment and properly trained instructors went unheeded, he said.

While on active duty, Eaton did not criticize his civilian bosses - almost to a man, the generals agree active-duty officers have no business doing that. But he was candid in media interviews. Building an Iraqi army, he warned, would take years, and the effort might never succeed.

In 2004, he was replaced by Gen. David Petraeus - now the military commander in Iraq - and reassigned stateside. Sensing his once-promising Army career had foundered, Eaton retired Jan. 1, 2006.

Two months later, on the third anniversary of the U.S. invasion, Eaton criticized the administration in an opinion piece in The New York Times.

"I didn't think my op-ed would be a big deal," he said. "It certainly turned out to be otherwise."

Eaton said he wrote the piece because he believed that three pillars of our democratic system had failed:

The Bush administration ignored alarms raised by him and other commanders on the ground;
the Republican-controlled Congress had failed to exercise oversight;
and the media had abdicated its watchdog role.

"As we look back, it appears that without realizing it, we were reacting to a constitutional crisis," Eaton said in a recent interview.

Some of Eaton's colleagues, both active and retired, endorsed his decision to speak out. Others thought he had stepped out of bounds. He became persona non grata with ethics instructors at the U.S. Military Academy, his alma mater.

Eaton said he has no regrets.

Maj. Gen. John Batiste, former commander of the First Infantry Division in Iraq, chronicled his painful journey from stalwart soldier to outspoken critic in a post on the political Web site Think Progress this month.

Once heralded by many military observers as headed for appointment to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Batiste began his journey of introspection after he retired with two stars in 2005.

The self-described arch-conservative and lifelong Republican made the "gut-wrenching" decision to end his 31-year military career in order to "speak out on behalf of soldiers and their families."

"I had a moral obligation and a duty to do so," Batiste wrote. "I have been speaking out for the past 17 months and there is no turning back."

Code of silence

It is rare in U.S. history for even retired generals to step outside the chain of command and criticize the nation's civilian leaders.

That was true even at the time of the unpopular Vietnam War.

Andrew Bacevich, a professor of history and international relations at Boston University, said several generals who served in Vietnam now regret they didn't go public when it might have done the nation some good.

"That has encouraged generals today to voice their unhappiness," Bacevich said.

"But that war was brief, it seemed to go very well and the generals' comments were almost uniformly positive," he said. "This war is very long, it has not gone well and that's a main reason we're hearing the voices we're hearing."

For retired Brig. Gen. John Johns, the decision to finally stand up against the administration was a deeply personal one.

"My wife lost her first husband in Vietnam," said Johns, who taught leadership and ethics at West Point.

"To learn later that President Lyndon Johnson and (then-Secretary of Defense) Robert McNamara knew as early as 1965 that we could not win there, that hurts her deeply to this day."

Six months before the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Johns, who retired in 1978, agonized over whether to go public with a paper calling the impending war "one of the great blunders of history."

He sent it to retired Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni and to Pete McCloskey, the moderate-Republican former congressman from California who had opposed the Vietnam War.

"At that time, they did not want to go public," Johns said.

Zinni has since become one of the most war's most vociferous critics, and McClosky now calls for bringing the troops home.

"And I was not convinced that the invasion would not be stopped internally," Johns said. "Zinni was close to (then-Secretary of State) Colin Powell; I believed sane heads would prevail."

But Powell's notoriously inaccurate speech to the United Nations in February 2003 "sealed the deal," Johns said, and he knew the war was unstoppable. "I was very disappointed he did that. Powell was used."

Many sleepless nights, long talks with his wife and solitary walks followed, said the veteran combat officer.

But Johns didn't reach his tipping point until 2005, when a longtime friend, retired Lt. Gen. Robert Gard, invited him to discuss the war at tiny Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.

"Four out of five of us retired military panelists there said it was a moral duty for us to speak out in a democracy against policies which you think are unwise," Johns said. "The time was right."

The lifelong Republican-leaning conservative joined a pair of liberal organizations opposed to the war and supported the Democrats' call to get the United States out of Iraq.

"I appreciate those who hold to the old school of not speaking out," said Johns, 79. "I hope they will appreciate my deeply held feelings that led to my decision to do so."

Reaction mixed

One of those who falls into that old-school camp is Navy Vice Adm. David Richardson.

A one-time adviser to Pentagon chiefs, Richardson, who retired in 1972, said that while retired generals are "entirely within their rights under the First Amendment," he was quite surprised to see so many speaking out against the Iraq war.

"They may sound off as they please, but I don't approve of that," said Richardson, 93, who served in World War II, Korea, and commanded an aircraft-carrier task force during the Vietnam War. He now lives in North Park and remains active in military circles.

"When we are at war, voices that may give aid and comfort to the enemy can cost American blood," Richardson said. "I would not want what I said to in any way affect our troops' morale and effectiveness."

Gard, who retired from the military in 1981, displayed a stoicism typical of old soldiers when asked about his decision to publicly criticize the conduct of an ongoing war.

"I did some serious soul-searching," Gard said simply.

A West Point graduate with a doctorate in politics and government from Harvard, Gard saw combat in Korea and Vietnam.

Gard's introspection ultimately led him to conclude that patriotism means more than following orders and keeping complaints inside the military.

"When you feel the country - to its extreme detriment - is going in the wrong direction, and that your views might have some impact, you have a duty to speak out," he said.

It may not have been that way during the Vietnam era, Gard added. "But times have changed."

\Realistic Advance Toward Happiness/

We have Prime Time all day except for seven minutes while the moon is void of course just after its sextile from Capricorn with the sun in the last degree of Scorpio, before Luna enters Aquarius at 7:12p PT | 10:12p ET | 3:12a(Su) UT. I don't know what you personally do on Saturdays but today you could accomplish more than usual, if oriented to any task, or go shopping with good results perhaps. (If I were writing for Orthodox Jews or Seventh Day Adventists, I would leave out Saturday every week and write a forecast for Sunday, since Saturday is their day of refraining from outward activities. As it is, I refrain from writing a report on the Jewish Sabbath, being a good Jew on that day, and do not post one for Sunday so that Christians can be good Christians, that is, think of G*d rather than Cosmic Piper, astrology, or their worldly activities. It's the age of Kali--as so often, the HIndus got it right--so even the Judaeo-Christian religions cannot agree on a Holy Day, and of course the Muslims have to choose a third, Friday. Kali is still winning, and grinning.)

Basic common sense rules, with less fear, anxiety or upset than during the past few days. That is a relief. You could map out a travel agenda perhaps, or if you don't plan on that, settle your thinking concerning more abstract matters, what you think about life, reality, G*d. It used to be called philosophy but now the Ph.D. "philosophers" in American and British universities are forbidden to even mention G*d and instead play verbal chess-games about things like "if it didn't rain last Tuesday, how could we verify the statement that if someone had seeded clouds on Monday it would have rained on Tuesday?" This is called "the problem of counter-factuals." This kind of thing takes endless hours of their time and energy, and their students are left in the dark about all the great philosophers who said extremely brilliant and helpful things about G*d, reality, the soul, and immortality. Inspiration is forbidden, and dull apathetic analysis encouraged. Nobody wins the verbal games, because they weren't designed to be won, just to be re-analyzed by the next crop of Ph.D. candidates. And Kali grins.

Perhaps I am thinking of Kali because the moon is in Capricorn and the sun in Scorpio, two traditional witch-signs. They both leave said signs by Sunday, so perhaps Kali shall retreat for a while to her skull-decorated cave.

|Rotten| third of the week update: In my local paper Friday morning the main headline is about the killing of two bank robbers by two policemen who were both injured in the shootout. This was on Thursday, the heart of the |difficult or rotten| third of the week this time. You may say, "But that could have happened any time!" True, but it didn't; it happened during the |rotten| third of the week and if you study your local paper for such tragedies you will find that more than half of them occur at such times. The |difficult third| is just over a third, spread over time and averaged: about 35 per cent of the time, or 2.45 days per week, leaving 4.55 days free of it.

But please, remember we are not in that period today (Saturday).

In the battle between bondage and transcendent freedom, the latter could win today.

Keep your mental eye out for someone you respect who is both charming and powerful. This could be an ally for you.

Music is uplifting, as is peaceful contemplation of the happy side of your life both past and present, for happiness treasured has a way of springing more happiness in the future.

Rather than fighting with anyone, you could release your capacities in his or her presence (or physical absence as in email or phone-talk) so you are appreciated for what you can do and be.

One danger in this whole period (Mars, Jupiter and Venus in a T-square in fixed signs) is that people are fuming inwardly about injustices, or perceived injustices, and could explode at any time. Today that might be less likely but is still a possibility. It would be better for them to carry on with hopes for something better in the future, letting past hurts flow downstream rather than riding on that junk toward hurtling rapids.

It's a question whether some amusements or hobbies are good for you or just silly. You are the judge. You are restless about them and make changes in them somewhat impulsively.

You are finding keys to solving certain problems. What will precipitate solutions is less wearisome than you had thought. Justice is part of the answer, but not frontier justice or lynching, rather subjugation restrained and equable.

You might sense how you can play with or manipulate someone's affection, or gain advantage through charm and persuasion. Well and good so long as you are mostly straightforward and honest. The limits and perils of erotic or emotional game-playing are obvious, at least in afterview.

\Lighted Window of Hope/

The |painful confusing difficult| third of the week which began Wednesday morning concludes today at 5:16p PT | 8:16p ET | 1:16a(Sa) UT. So the evening could be a blessed relief.

I do not pretend to predict the stock market, but since it appears the day is concerned somehow with money I will say that your finances may seem better.

There is magic afoot in your work and learning, if you are alert to it. It is a way out of restrictions and limitations.

Study and learning also show where you stand in relation to other individuals important to you, some of them rather mysterious. You are becoming alert to hidden opportunities before they grow stale.

Career matters are facilitated by communication even if it seems self-centered at first. Awareness of self, flaunted, leads others to awareness of themselves as well as of you and promotes mutual advantage. Something you have been developing for years may be bearing fruit gradually.

Mental powers increase while Mercury moves toward a trine with Mars over the next week. Game-like strategies, when considered, may yield success, although you are prudent enough not to depend on them for sustenance; it is plodding persistent work, in any field, which provides such sustenance ultimately. (That is, unless the grace of G*d be considered, but even then it is well to return such favors through respectable endeavors.)

Matters connected with your home and neighbors may seem disastrous on the surface, or forbidding and peculiar. Through a challenging reshuffle of things you are getting back to a more peaceful, settled condition.

So much seems possible, through powers unique to yourself, yet it seems that actualizing your mission requires strength and foresight beyond the ordinary, and at times (such as this evening perhaps) you prefer to lapse into conventional, popular amusements which relieve your soul.

When you feel abandoned by some, you may rest assured that this is illusion. Neither do you need to abandon anyone else no matter how long you have failed to connect. There will be friends, old or new, to grant emotional sustainment you require. Afternoon and evening could brim over with popularity and opportunities for social felicity.

\Strengthened by Honest Endeavor/

I failed to mention in Wednesday's report that the |difficult, nasty, repugnant| third of the week began approximately 9 a.m. Eastern Time. So my statement that Wednesday was Prime Time was wrong. Sorry, but like you I have been hassled by a lot of difficult aspects (to be mentioned in following paragraphs); my timing, schedules and whatnot are intensely challenging. I have in the past been much more careful to to point out these times exactly.

That |nasty| third of the week continues through today until late Friday evening. (I double-checked that; will give the exact time tomorrow.)

I call it nasty this time because it is accompanied by the exact square of Mars and Venus, a truly nasty aspect.

The value of it is that it gets us moving. May you move in a positive, well-planned direction.

Limitations inspire you to get beyond limitations in your mind, from whence you can expand or release limitations in your life. To do that you need philosophy or religion, mysticism or deep realization of the good nature of things.

Is a friend really a friend? It is sad that we can doubt that sometimes. Maybe your interests and hopes proceed in different directions so that sometimes you seem at cross-purposes. Going deep within yourself to your ideals can help straighten out relations with friends.

There is much thought about money. The stock market does not know which way it is going. I believe it will improve later this month and in early December, so that by Thanksgiving a week from now we shall have more to be grateful for. (It doesn't matter if you are an investor or not, for often the market's variations reflect the trends individuals experience in their personal affairs willy-nilly.)

Mercury is already forming good aspects which the sun will take up soon, so your mind is anticipating good things before they can actualize. Good fortune is around the corner. But this could make you too placid, so other more worrisome aspects are spurring you on.

Speculative urges connected with money and travel could be disastrous, that is, lead you astray and possibly toward your hurt. I talked with a man on Tuesday who admitted he had a disastrous gambling urge. That is interesting because he is a stable (and very honorable) businessman about whom no one would suspect that, and because Mars is moving toward an opposition with Jupiter, well known in astrological circles as a gambling aspect. It can also be dangerous. I would not recommend unusual travel today.

The square of Venus and Mars is potentially disputes, arguments, fighting, separation, divorce, nastiness of all sorts. It can signify injustice and the attempt to right it. Since Venus is in Scorpio this could be over bills or payments as well as romantic alliances or friendships. Today it might have career implications. It is not impossible to get a handle on this since Venus is moving toward a trine with Uranus, and Mercury toward a trine with Mars. People will be reasonable although it may take time and effort to convince them of a reasonable compromise or arrangement.

Benevolence and humaneness are present even if masked. This can be in connection with your job and finances, plus communications regarding them. The pressure of differences and disagreements can bring out the better as well as the worse in people, once they reflect on what is happening and find ways of fielding or assuaging the divergences. An approach toward harmony still unattained is tantalizing and constructive.

*Growing Toward Friendly Nobility*

This looks like a smooth day, in Prime Time, until the moon goes void of course at 6:47p PT | 9:47p ET | 2:47a(Th) UT. After that, sweet rest and internal reconstitution with psychic experiences.

Whatever philosophy and religion mean to you, you could refine that today because your way out of bondage is internal rather than external; or internal first, followed by the external, as many political prisoners have learned in a way all of us hope we will not be required to. That there are political prisoners at all is a scandal and blot on the character of the human race. I hope and pray that many of them will learn behind bars some kind of esoteric magic through prayer which will ameliorate the consciousness of human beings, and I believe that is just what many of them have done. That does not justify their imprisonment, however, in any way (except perhaps in the eyes of G*d who is not cruel but apparently allows human beings to be cruel and to suffer cruelty, sometimes, in the long process of their evolution. Again, that does not mean we should not help them to escape, as through the efforts of Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, two of the most noble organizations on the planet.)

Indeed, the power of persuasion is pronounced today. You should not hide your convictions under a bushel but proclaim them, hoping they will awaken a glimmer of conscience and good will in those who fall under your influence.

You may feel content with some of the fruits of your labors. What you have earned is yours to use as you please. You are finding harmonious, tuneful or musical ways of employing it, which promote comity and accord among those in your home or community.

"He has a head on his shoulders" could be said of someone born with Mercury sextile Saturn, and that's going on right now, so you may have sound judgment about anything you investigate. You may find how you could help those who are suffering, either young people or those helpless (as the imprisoned ones already discussed). Caring about and aiding them could be an adventure.

It is interesting how bending to the winds of others' greed and arrogance can sometimes yield good results to the humble one. Nice guys do not finish last, although they appear to be last mid-way through the race, before the greedy arrogant ones stumble and fall or pant and fail.

But since "the last shall be first and the first last" we cannot always judge whether someone is arrogant and greedy or merely appears to be so. Philanthropy can be the salvation of the successful.

Indeed, philanthropy or other forms of righteous generosity may be the order of the day. Those who are ordinary business people, prosperous or semi-prosperous, sometimes have a hidden side which strives for the welfare of the human race. I for one do not make light of the efforts of college fraternities and sororities or groups like the Rotary clubs or Odd Fellows in this direction. Two of our ex-Presidents, Carter and Clinton, have founded charitable foundations which do a great deal of good work. It is easy to mock hypocrisy, but mixed with it is genuine charity. "Judge not that ye be not judged."

Love, fellowship, comradeship, and close companionship are emphasized. You do not have to seek these assiduously but can fall into them. People are good at heart.

*New Strategic Moon*

The red is not a warning signal. The moon is in Sagittarius and Sagittarians often like bright colors.

You want to understand the laws (natural, human and God-given) which govern your career or major activity, and could make headway in that direction. When attuned to the fitness of things, you do well.

We are in the second day of the New Moon (exact Monday at 11:15a PT | 2:15p ET | 7:15p UT). It is more like the first day because, as mentioned yesterday, the moon went void of course right after it began. So fresh ideas and plans are percolating. Yet you may feel isolated, for you are sacrificing personal desires for the sake of something greater. This could make you bitter at times when you feel others are not carrying their fair share of the burden.

The stock market soared Monday and I would not be surprised if it continues upward today. At least you will be pleased with evidence of prosperity and feel you have some extra to spend as you wish.

Music, the arts, and simple ways of living make you feel blessed and at peace. (I was impressed today by a man whistling cheerily while he did quite heavy manual labor; it made me feel better myself.)

Friendship is not blocked so much as implicit; not pushed forward. Differences of style, attitude and opinion make people defensive, even friends. Yet they may take bold chances in some matters, surprising you.

Someone who perhaps drinks too much, or otherwise seeks escape, is intelligent and wants to share his or her wisdom. He has been hurt by those who were not tolerant or understanding, but carries on.

Although you persist with your business, you may feel like just letting things go at certain times when you need mental-spiritual recreation, as it were. A few minutes of closed eyes could be a blessed relief.

Many individuals are being self-contained, withdrawn or taciturn; not unfriendly but self-sufficient and somewhat crafty or designing. This does not have to be a disadvantage to you or them. It's a matter of careful preparation for the next month on this day of the New Moon's blessing. Energies and hopes may blossom in the evening.

~Deep Defense as Transcendent Security~

The New Moon in Scorpio occurs at 11:15a PT | 2:15p ET | 7:15p UT. Immediately after that the moon is void of course until it enters Sagittarius at 9:23p PT | 12:23a(Tu) ET | 5:23a(Tu) UT. So it might be well to conclude any important business before that first time when possible.

It is fascinating that the charts over the weekend and today seem to point to exactly what we have been discussing in the two Yahoo groups concerning these forecasts, namely, the ethics of giving-and-receiving, or buying-and-selling, the ethics of business whatever your business or employment may be. These considerations need not be dismal but can be uplifting if one is willing to trust the cosmos and its laws for justice (a keyword of the sign Scorpio).

'Tis the season of Scrooge and the Grinch! Or of the anti-Scrooge and anti-Grinch, if we choose to create them.

The way in which music and spiritual aspirations blend could be fascinating, and might have business applications (however strange that may seem except to professional musicians or pastors).

You may note how some individuals, in business or not, are selfish enough to take advantage of anyone and everyone, as if wolves rather than human beings, while others struggle valiantly and ruggedly to uphold their ideals, and ultimately succeed.

Gradual yet certain gain is the financial motto. You can feel the liberating winds of Providence blowing around you and filling your sails. What you have built, hoisted or grown yourself is yours. And what you have given returns, albeit in unrecognized guise.

There is a thrill of the romance of chivalry, a man risking himself for a lady or principle or church or ideal, and this privilege not denied to women either who are heroic time after time; this is derring-do, but let us hope the enemy is not human beings but the carelessness or conscienceless-ness of said beings. With daring there should be defense; perhaps tact. (If one is on a battlefield, this advice moves toward a more radical version of itself.) If one fights for a cause, let the cause be grand.

If you think of a large, grandiose building you may get clues about avoiding ineptitude. It might be a place to go for instruction, guidance, or inspiration, whether on the physical or mental plane. An anchor for hope permits calmer and more astute activity. Friends met There may be invisible or visible.

The way in which individuals face the financial crunch, or economic crisis of the nation and planet, is currently highly individual, persistent, creative and even speculative (a gamble). Of course literal gambling (Mars in Leo opposite Jupiter) is not likely to yield more than entertainment or dubious thrill; I mean a willingness to attempt what might seem foolish to some, a glimmer of entrepreneurship perhaps. What's that idea you would feel foolish propounding to friends or family, which yet you feel might work? Hmm, maybe you should dust it off and make it spin. I should say, you might be more realistic about this before the void-of-course time (first paragraph). After that, you could ponder insubstantial bubbles which, no matter how colorful, are not "practical"; yet art, not practical, is worth millions (in the case of Van Gogh and others only after their deaths, sad to say).

You may feel that you and yours need defense; this is perhaps true; still there is always the need for faith as often the strongest part of a strong defense. To feel someone has taken advantage of you or used you unfairly is hard. If after due consideration and prayer you feel you need to confront this individual or institution, this could be the time for it; to be precise, since I do believe in the void-of-course times, I would say either before that or else tomorrow after the New Moon.

Scorpio is a sign of self-contained strength. At its best, somehow it pre-empts its enemies or even encompasses and contains them; understands them, which is the ultimate forgiveness and protection. Today such awareness may come upon you.

~The Castle of Lost Hopes Revived~

The Via Combusta lasts until Sunday evening, so the weekend has a peculiar flavor of uncertainty, confusion or loss of morale. It is a "cosmic reshuffling" in the words of Marc Edmund Jones. The moon is also void of course until it enters Scorpio at 2:25p PT | 5:25p ET | 10:25p UT. Plus, we are in the final phase of the Old Moon and may require rest, relaxation and reorientation.

Melancholy has a spiritual caste, that is, it opens you to what is beyond this world, since this one seems so unreliable. Music could be an aid in that quest.

A sub rosa feel to your orientation to career and income helps you relax. You sense how some things can only be changed slowly so you may as well do what is feasible and then trust.

The stress of varying opinions (the age of Kali for perhaps hundreds more years) can make for insecurity, yet you know what you can cling to, what has supported you. Information is liberating, making your personality more confident.

A studious approach can be comforting and strengthening. Being alone to learn in your own way makes you confident in the bushwhacking chase toward fulfillment (postponed perhaps for another day but happily comprehended).

People have their mysteries. You do not need to penetrate into them unless something opens up naturally and leads you on. You are aware of how some waste so much time pursuing fruitless ends only to retreat and try over again in an equally fruitless manner. You could ponder an imaginary castle, cathedral, fortress or throne room as a center in which all can find their orientation no matter from what confused standpoints they enter.

Restlessly you may imagine a goal at a distance, wherein dwells someone who seems sometimes friend and sometimes foe. He holds to his beliefs and principles even when they gain him nothing. You shrink from confronting him because you know he will quibble and quarrel and question so much that he fatigues you.

Something about parents could be significant, at least within yourself. You may feel you have been orphaned, or that your parents did not understand you or were not there when you needed them. Then you might realize how you have been strengthened by being on your own. This could be true even if your parents are (or were) basically good people contributing much to society. Would a brother or sister be helpful for you at this point? It might be worth considering.

It is a satisfaction and comfort to know you have fulfilled certain duties; then the evening mellows.

}Thrills Buffered in Savvy Caution{

In yesterday's report I gave the exact time of the end of the |hard third| of the week, late afternoon or evening depending on your time zone (later in Europe). So the evening could be a paradigmatic TGIF with a party in order.

Yet you care about deeper matters, philosophic thinking, study, learning how to face the more serious questions in your life, and that is all to the good, developing spiritual muscles and refined tastes.

Sad to say, a compulsion toward cruelty may arise in some, so you should be aware of that in order to prevent sad happenings. It's as if someone were to feel, "Well, no matter what, this person is never going to change his/her mind, so I may as well insult or hurt him/her and be done and over with it." A temptation one's better self rejects, in order to prevent interminable repercussions. Words of criticism should be veiled so as not to appear harsh. Sometimes human beings cannot help being what they are, which only astrology and the laws of reincarnation and karma can explain.

Yet you could exercise enormous persuasive powers, and so should not give up on anyone entirely. When you know you are right, something enters into you to make your speech and action convincing.

Skill and tact are required in the financial realm (with the period of taxes and accounting coming up). If you feel lacking in these, in any particular, you could enlist expert assistance (before the time given in the second paragraph following).

A certain debonair carelessness in the way people speak should not mislead you. They say things they don't really mean in order to make a point. However, if the bee in their bonnet is extremely painful, they could be dangerous. It's a matter of quick judgment.

Incidentally, computers sometimes have those bees in their hard drives, or operating systems, and some will be considering a change-over to something better; it is not a bad time for that if you feel it necessary (sun and Mercury trine Uranus in a Bright Hermetic Epoch). This might apply to smart phones also. However, if it ain't one damn' thing it's another, and the moon enters the Via Combusta at 11:42a PT | 2:42p ET | 7:42p UT, so it might be wise to wait until next week for a final decision on such matters.

When dissatisfied, you can be steadfast in what you know has proved itself in your experience. That could save you from a lot of questioning and quibbling with yourself or someone else. A fresh viewpoint on something which troubles you might be in your face so you can ponder it, question it, and ultimately reject it in favor of what you know to be reliable.

As I interpret the current shape of the solar system relative to Earth, it is a Bucket pattern with Mars as the handle planet. So you are indomitable along the lines of whatever you are trying to accomplish. You will not give up, but find the best way sooner or later. And if the world doesn't come around to see things your way, well, it will eventually, you insist.

Eccentric enthusiasm linked with a large field of choice when it comes to love-alliances could make things dicey in the emotional realm. This could be thrilling at times, at the "party" already suggested. Wandering eyes will give the eye. Most likely unserious and temporary, erotic attractions could still be fascinating and instructive. But please don't accuse me of tempting you toward sin. The Via Combusta means, appreciate what is happening while suspicious of where it is going.

}Longing for Secure Achievement{

We're in the |difficult, touchy, moody, reflective| third of the week, today and tomorrow, until (Friday at) 6:00p PT | 9:00p ET | 2:00a(Sa) UT. (Times are now in Standard Time, but UT remains the same, so that there is a 5-hour rather than 4-hour difference between ET and UT.) It is quite neat that Friday evening and the rest of the weekend are free from this "curse" (as it turned out to be last week during the 7-minute slaughter at Fort Hood for example).

Actually it is not a curse even though it seems to be. It is a chance to catch up with your karma, perhaps.

Also, the moon is void of course in the morning until 9:22a PT | 12:22p ET | 5:22p UT. Getting started might seem like a futile routine, one foot placed resolutely ahead of the other as if walking through a dream.

Travel plans may be on your mind. Even if premature, they can yet be inspiring. As mentioned, Friday evening and the rest of the weekend could be better than early today for travel or any other adventure. Local travel might be uplifting, however.

Intellectual or spiritual searching is circumspect and serious. It could be the very thing to do when all else seems barren.

Mars in Leo (October 16 through June 8, an enormously long period for Mars because it includes his retrograde cycle) puts an emphasis on children or young people, not always male but often. It may be that their deeper education, or the drawing-forth of their capacities, is at stake today, for they are seeking for something, they know not what. Those who have a stake in the feminization of boys, as many teachers, may be dismayed at the fact that boys refuse to be feminized.

Research in your own field gives you greater independence.

I shall not attempt to delineate your personal finances for the day, but it appears that many will be worried in that area. Perhaps the stock market's recent gains will slide backward; if so, it is just one of those minor weekly cycles. When all on your personal balance sheet is up-and-up, you are safe.

Faith is a cure for insecurity, in fact, perhaps the only one. But it, subjective, calls forth objective aid. That helps you to get everything in order, including finances.

Your ideals are strong when tested. You resist any impulse to gain through devious means, or grab what you haven't earned in some respectable manner, and so feel you deserve whatever you do gain; such self-worth is a strong card in your hand. Sacrifice for a cause turns out to be advantageous for yourself. Sometimes it requires you to be alone for a while.

Knowledge of future events is always speculative. Yet it can be helpful when not fearful. If you sense that something or someone is in trouble, you can take steps to avoid the trouble.

The stubbornness of a young male (or one young in heart) might be called constancy, that is, he remains true to his own interests and urges. But this could make him an unpleasant companion, even an antagonist, when he is critical, skeptical, or caustic in opposing you or anyone who questions what he is doing.

Well, what I said about the stock market may be true, yet it appears that at least the prices of gold and precious metals may go up today. The last time I said this, a couple weeks ago, they did in fact soar remarkably (about 5 per cent) that day, despite a precipitous drop for the previous week or two. We shall see if I hit it this time also. If not, that's 50-50, and I am still in the game. (I do not pretend to be able to predict something like this every day; there are too many variables.)

A friend at a distance may be alluring to you. Contacting her or him might be good, even if you don't hear back today. This person has some bearing on your career or standing; and helps you feel young and potent.

Wednesday 11 November 2009

We have Prime Time well into the evening. This does not mean everything is wonderful, but that at least it is not impossible to forward your plans successfully.

I am not going to write a forecast for this day. I am quite weary of trying to tease out all the complexities of the daily charts, which I have been doing for ten years. It can be done successfully sometimes, while at other times it would seem the diversities of human beings make it very hard to arrive at a verbal formulation which will fit everyone. Ideally, everyone would study the daily chart himself or herself and interpret it according to his or her individual proclivities, tendencies, life-style, and horoscope. I would be able to teach a class in such an individual procedure. Whether trying to write a daily guide here is going to be ultimately worth my time, I am not at all sure.

I will try to write a little each day for the immediate future but not the long and involved forecasts I have been writing.

We do have the Bright Hermetic Epoch to December 9, so I hope you will find your personal plans developing in ways which make sense to you and help you to feel good about your life.

Forecast for Tuesday 10 November 2009

Tuesday 10 November 2009

\Advantages!/

This is a Prime Time day and should be a high-motivation day. You want to be hitting it high, pushing toward goals, controlling destiny.

You can make discoveries in your field. This could win acclaim. A superior, boss, or colleague could offer an opportunity.

The work ethic is strong. It seems allied with a spiritual searching trend; each fortifies the other.

There is competition, at least within your mind, for you want to prove you are as good as someone else, or better. Those who support you will be avid in their support; those who oppose--well, you will know how to deal with them or ignore them. It is well not to make anyone think you are an adversary, and so stir up opposition.

What the world, or lower elements of it, interpret as a need for warfare is, at a higher level toward which we are evolving, a need to conquer oneself, one's habits; one's field of activity; one's health; one's ability to play a game.

However, it is not weakness to admit that you need help in some areas. Someone you respect, almost in a parental way, is able to protect you from certain mistakes and insecurities. These have to do with your career but also your home situation.

Your mind's approach to things is unusual, and so could be misunderstood. It seems to some you are wandering, pointlessly dabbling with attempts which go nowhere. On the other hand, you are learning and making amazing discoveries which they do not comprehend. Probably trying to make them do so would be a waste of energy.

You may feel your weakness is lack of courage. You may be preparing something competent, and feel that you will have more courage when it is prepared. That is well and good. True, it is well to stay away from people who seem inimical even though you have no idea why. They could be hurtful only because they do not know what they are doing. So your courage should manifest in connection with more promising associates.

Advantages and prosperity attend you. I am always leery of promising too much, but today I want you to realize your opportunities. Wherever you go--you may feel restlessly that you should be on the move, whether that is true or not--you will receive benefits, cooperation, and blessings from the cosmos and humanity. So it is well to be confident. True, there could be problems from overextension or arrogance, but these may be less than problems from failure to keep trying.

Art, drama, and music do not need to be neglected. They will be foremost only if they are your field; if not, they may still play an important part. Whatever you are trying to do, your will power is endowed with magical potency.

*Independence is Willing or Calculated Sharing*

Whether you are thrilled by or skeptical of the bill passed in the House for a new approach to medical funding, it did pass and will go to the Senate for modification. As I had said here many weeks ago, the chances for passage were better in the Bright Hermetic Epoch; during the Dark, nothing could get off the ground. Also I mentioned how Saturn's passage through Virgo was both promoting and slowing down the concern about this bill (Virgo being the over-all sign of health and health care). Since Saturn went into Libra on October 29th, everything connected with this bill picked up steam. (I am not endorsing the bill, however, not having studied it; I would guess it is riddled with waste and unfairness as any such bill would be at this point in our history. Especially, I totally reject the idea that everyone should be compelled to buy medical insurance. If the final bill contains this provision I shall oppose it. The real problem is ridiculously high medical fees charged by hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturers, ambulance services, and sometimes doctors as well. This gross exploitation of victims is what needs to be curtailed. If the bill goes to the government, we are still the victims, since governmentsRus.)

Also you will note that, as I faithfully point out every week, the |difficult| third of the week comprised Thursday and Friday, when the bill was stuck but being worked on; it was passed on Saturday-Sunday. Also, tragically, on those two |more difficult| days there was first the killing at Fort Hood and then another lesser incident of the same ilk in Florida (one Thursday and one Friday). When I point out the |difficult third| I am not whistling Dixie.

Business could be humming Monday. You seem determined to gain what you feel you deserve or need. Your efficiency and effectiveness are amazing. When competition is part of the picture, you can put up a good fight and quite possibly prevail.

A deeper side of you is inclined to philosophy, music, and refined tastes.

You sense what is fair and what is not. This would apply to employers and those with whom you do business.

You cling, for financial security, to what you know well, having absorbed, studied and assimilated certain information, knowledge, or methods. Vigorous, accurate accounting with the help of all agencies at your disposal helps you get the upper hand.

Strength and independence bring a youthful quality to your work, so that you can breeze through it.

Endurance is necessary while you get the drift of everything pertinent to your well-being. Lasting things, those in which the human race has invested, will sustain you.

While you sense that big potentials are on the way, and that you can promote them, you tend to slip into easy instinctive habits of indulgence, such as overeating.

You see through things, into their illusory nature, so that your sense of values is high. Therefore you can enjoy whatever is available to enjoy without getting trapped in it, overindulging or wasting valuable time. Knowing what to drop and what to hold, what to enjoy and what to renounce, is a secret. Someone very nice respects you.

~Rowdy and Bawdy?~

Weaknesses could impel you to wander rather than take charge. You may be needed in a position which calls forth your ability to speak, write, compose, construct or direct.

The moon goes void of course at 4:27p PT | 7:27p ET | 10:27p PT, so after that you do not have to focus on things just mentioned. May you enjoy a relaxed, free-form Saturday evening.

The individual responsible for the mass killing at Ft. Hood represents something in all of us which is impatient, resentful of not being understood, and wanting to force people toward its vision of justice.

Yet humane instincts are wonderful, wanting to enfold all in the joy of just being together, being what human beings can be at their best.

Some business matters have come together in your mind, and with the help of experts you seem to be getting the better of them.

Interesting things in the neighborhood related to technology could benefit you.

When you sense that you have control over someone's passions, temptation begins; and you might feel you could manipulate or mete out justice beyond what is appropriate.

You could aim at clever applications of knowledge, skill, or technology, so that from your private place you gain mastery over certain matters. You could even prevent the misuse of such skill. The "s" before "kill" in this word speaks volumes. True skill scotches killing, that is, shows us how to live in ways which facilitate the better for all so that the motive for warfare is no longer valid.

Mars is less comfortable than he has been in recent weeks and is wanting to prove himself; this should not be in hurtful ways, naturally, so that sports, games and competition (in business or art) are the right avenue for his avid energies. Today some of this is premature yet promising. There will be wonderful self-indulgence or festive sharing, which is one way Mars expresses himself when letting go (therefore males have the reputation for being the drinkers rather than females).

A crafty and lazy side of people could be noticeable, involved also with envy or jealousy, so that harsh humor or cynical taunting could be in evidence. The victims may seem willing at first, out of indigence, then realize they are being treated as fools. What will happen then I do not know . . . but of course all this is so unnecessary; we can reach toward the deeper humane togetherness mentioned (paragraph 4). A sense of humor would help.

Forecast for Friday 6 November 2009

Friday 6 November 2009

~Trusting Destiny's Curve~

The |more difficult| third of the week lasts just through today, not Saturday or Sunday, but the difficulty this time should be something you relish. You are wrapping up certain plans, feeling on solid ground.

Impetuous and sensitive, you may feel slighted or wounded and want to get redress, not through violence but by making your position and influence felt.

Often people feel that if only they could get themselves in a position where they did not have to work or fret about income they would be happy. Then in retirement, when they have all they need, they realize that happiness comes from elsewhere than fatalistic indolence. Then is a time for religion, for reaching toward the Highest and Most Immortal. Young people sometimes anticipate this stage of life and learn such lessons at a point when they will be more useful.

You may be keen on your financial status, wanting to straighten out the details and balance sheets out so you can let it be, and get on with things of even more value. In doing this you could be happy to secure the guidance of someone who knows how to save you much vexation.

It's a time for idealism. You are sensing how you want to "aid humanity" which is really your own Self. This makes you strong and ardent.

The merely speculative can be careless. Then an accident, or sabotage, could make motivating hopes go up in smoke. You want freedom at someone's expense, perhaps, and while that might happen it could incur a debt to be repaid.

The gold prospector, in frontier days, did not always know where his next meal was coming from but persisted past peril. His prospects were better the more he held some greater good of family or friend in mind.

Letting things happen, adapting to them listlessly with fatalistic escapism, may be a harmless disposition at certain times, when you are free of hard necessities or duties. This could be attractive to someone who finds your indifferent remoteness a foil for his or her ardor. Then a wisdom you didn't know you had directs both of you in peaceful but fascinating paths.

}Mastery?{

Today and Friday constitute the |difficult, sensitive, touchy| third of the week. One is asked to prove one's stuff. One is asked to show what one is made of at these times. Fear and anxiety raise their ugly heads and need to be reassured, from a higher level, that things are going to work out if we work them out.

There is impatience and disagreement. Why human beings cannot overlook some of their quarrels more successfully is a mystery to me; I believe it is arrogance, conceit, greed, and a desire for privilege which make people angry with anyone who disagrees about politics or religion. On the other hand, I get angry when people espouse obviously stupid and malicious viewpoints on these subjects. We live in the Age of Kali, according to the Hindus, and much as I would like to see an end of it -- the idealistic young people with stars (and drugs) in their eyes in the late '60s thought it was ending -- it seems to drag on. Kali delights in discord and battle, argument and disagreement. From a higher viewpoint this is theoretically a separation and discord preparing a greater coming-together and harmony. We always think that will be "next year, next week, tomorrow" rather than "next century or next millennium." The Hindu thinkers may have the more correct time-scale, I am sorry to say.

It is not pleasant to feel torn apart, or torn apart from other human beings who feel torn apart when you confront them with your viewpoint.

But I must say, buck up your courage, for today the moon's trine with Venus in her sign Libra portends nice, liberating, happy times even during the |difficult| period. Who is it who seems loving and sweet (at least mostly), trustful and kind? That person or someone like him or her is good for you today. You could spend time together, sharing a meal or drink, and find solace in each other. Knowing each other's foibles could be an aid to happy comradeship rather than a block. The heart has reasons our minds fail to grasp.

Business or financial adventures are at a tricky stage. You need tact and foresight. Advice from someone who knows ropes you don't could help. That could relieve worries.

When things seem hard, people choose their avenues of escape: indolence, drink, drugs, even religious observances if these become heartless and dispiriting rather than spiritually invigorating. When you don't feel like vigorous action, or need a break from it, thinking and planning would be wise while the sun and Mercury are together exactly today at the center of the Bright Hermetic Epoch (lasting until December 9). Resting is not aimless if you use that period for visioning your immediate future (let's say up to February as a guideline) and realizing what you need to do to keep your life in order with forward momentum.

It is not always those in the limelight who do the most for the human race. If you have a more secluded station from which to influence events, you are just as much needed if not more. Those who misunderstand may even seem enemies (Kali again) but
cannot harm one aligned with the Supreme.

The improvident members of the human race who seem to end up begging have always been with us and have their place, it would seem, and need sympathy and help in one way or another. To confront them charitably is a test of one's charity, which is another name for selfless love. To say "they ought to get a job" is easy enough but the struggle and evolution that would require is simply beyond most of them. We ought to offer them part-time work and very inexpensive housing, which would be a benefit to everyone. Of what value is it to keep them on the streets, begging, requiring constant attention from police and courts already overloaded, harassing them from one spot to another when they have no place to sleep? We are not a Christian culture. Nor a truly Jewish one, for the brilliant Jewish psychologist Erich Fromm, often quoting from the Bible, decades ago pointed out in his important book The Sane Society how we are hurting ourselves by not guaranteeing everyone basic support, enabling them to find a place where they can make some contribution or other. We might be surprised to find out what is in them if they were treated well.

After that I shall not tell you that your life ought to be a life of service. Circumstances and G*d see to that, in one way or another. Meher Baba's motto was "Mastery in Servitude" and such a concept was worked out thoroughly on the intellectual plane by the philosopher Hegel. I admit I would rather be the ruler than the servant, but . . .

Forecast for Wednesday 4 November 2009

Wednesday 4 November 2009

}Plans Positioned{

The moon in breezy, lively, chatty and charming Gemini could be pleasant, its aspects mostly favorable. We have Prime Time, but shall not have it Thursday when the |more restrained and touchy| third of the week begins, lasting through Friday. So today it might be wise to wrap up the week's major business (except for ordinary routines).

Straightforward dealing and honest thinking in connection with groups, older or mature people, can smooth matters at issue.

Stability in political situations is helpful, while you plan strategy. "Politics" includes any organizational matter when people disagree or are balancing differing priorities.

Business matters can be worked out clearly at headquarters. You feel revitalized when accounts are in order and you know where you stand. If assistance is needed, you could reach for it with success.

You do not discuss all your plans and strategic moves while Mercury and the sun are together in secretive Scorpio. You keep them to yourself except when it's necessary to air them with someone. It is good to map them out now, while we are near the center of the Bright Hermetic Epoch (Mercury is in the heart of the sun from geocentric perspective). Arriving at surety about your plans makes you up for anything. In the Dark Epoch I say, Postpone decisions. Now I say, You are ready to make them. It does not appear that they are earth-shaking or radically new; rather they are clarifications of what you have been contriving for a long time.

There are so many people who feel they are not able to consummate what their talents and abilities foreshadow (and ought to guarantee). They may feel that enemies of some kind are hindering them: perhaps the confusion and misunderstanding of human beings or other problems. Yet higher inspiration continues to reassure them that their efforts are not in vain.

Good taste and luxury assure a comfortable and pleasing time at home or away; probably in more than one location. When you are in gracious surroundings there is a sense of freshness and opportunity. Those who might upset your peace of mind can be detected and disarmed; that is (unless you are in a war zone), disarmed through your awareness and attitude toward them.

The mixture of work plus friendliness can be exhilarating. When you focus on one task at a time, you sail along gaily. You don't mind being alone while working. Then when you are free there is hospitality, given or received; friendly sharing with those who may be thinking of their work but have time for benevolent camaraderie.

Forecast for Tuesday 3 November 2009

Tuesday 3 November 2009

\The Unbearable Effort and Bearable Lightness of Being/

We have a void-of-course period from 11:05a-9:54p PT | 2:05p-12:54a(W) ET | 6:05p-4:54a(W) UT. So it might be wise to avoid major decisions during that 11-hour period and stick with either routines or meditative, relaxing, orienting pastimes. You are not going crazy if you feel things are at loose ends.

Concern about your status in the world could be overwhelming. You want to be and do something significant. Yet you want to be honest and fair with everyone. That will prevent you from flying off the handle and wounding those who seem way off base.

Defending yourself from those whose methods and philosophic attitudes are at variance requires sure-footedness plus inventiveness in countering opposing arguments.

Many are feeling isolated and bitter, wanting a better relation with you and others but not knowing how to go about it. So they stew in their own juices and remain self-incarcerated.

People are insecure emotionally, wanting someone to cling to but finding that their competence and working habits are what count rather than their emotional needs. In business, emotions are secondary. Patient learning and study, much of it alone, is useful; so it is wise to let needs for emotional support or companionship be secondary. Then they will be fulfilled anyway in indirect or surprising ways.

When you feel you are dropping important things from lack of interest, and vacillating this way and that, during the void-of-course time, you can take comfort in places or situations which provide stability, tradition, and reliability, such as a community center, library, church, or the like.

Beauty is displayed in such places, as well as close to home or in it. Gracious living uplifts morale and heals unspoken uneasiness. Yet there are trends toward outspoken or even hateful outbursts. People feel that if others insist on being wrong they have a right to incinerate something in the situation to force a change. Rather you could find out the best way of expressing outrage at unfairness so as to awaken but not harm.

Elevated feelings and harmonious connections can be evoked, despite all the preceding, even during the void-of-course time. Because they have been feeling out of sorts, people long for some entertainment and companionship. It might be well to spend time with a companion, or alone, exploring whatever attracts you and makes you feel that all is well, whether it be natural or artificial: music, sport, drama, comedy, a walk, a luxurious meal or whatever uplifts you. When you let happy things happen, rather than trying to force them, they shall.

\Position Sustained/

Sensitiveness leads you to ponder your philosophic background, beliefs and understanding. In doing that you develop stamina and feel stronger, able to stand up to callow criticism from those who do not understand.

Insecurity could affect your relations with friends; you feel you need them but are not sure if they need you. Taking a more impersonal attitude, through study, could save you from fretting about things you cannot change.

It is unclear to me what the stock market will do, but the changes going on in the financial world are crucial. You do not have to withdraw completely from participation in the economy (as if that were possible except to a Robinson Crusoe) but might readjust your way of participating carefully, so as not to stumble.

A friend, or one who might be a friend, is clever and perhaps too playful in some ways, so that you do not know when he is serious. Yet he helps you understand various matters about which you would otherwise be in the dark.

It is wise not to procrastinate when it comes to crucial friendships or connections with people. You do not have to understand everything about them or their attitudes in order to interact or communicate. They have an aura of the past about them, deep and mysterious.

Some who are important to you may seem privileged, to the degree that they relish their prosperity and independence snobbishly. Then you feel that they are ready for a downfall. This might be envy, or not, but it is better to look to your own circumstances than to theirs, while benefiting from their good will as you can.

Your place in the world is important to you, and you take pride in it. Therefore you could be envied or even betrayed, but it is better to persist in the path you have chosen than to backtrack at a time like this. The Psalms point out how devotion to that Higher than yourself protects you.
