1 'A man sowing in the wind' could be any of us during the lunar periods marked out above.  One might 'waste substance and dissipate energy in vain and illusive projects, constantly going counter to others' opinions and advice.'  This is not inevitable if one chooses the less glamorously-pleasurable pursuits, emphasizing responsibility. 

2 'A bunny metamorphosed into a fairy' could represent distorted escapism, or else 'poetry of soul' bringing a transition from animality to living for ideals and aspirations (like a fairy or angel).  

3 Realistic practicality is represented by 'a general accepting defeat gracefully.'  A lost campaign prepares for a winning campaign ahead.  Expediency and opportunism look toward long-range ends.  One might even win over, through graciousness, an enemy who thought he had won.

4 Not everything is bleak.  'A golden-haired goddess of opportunity' showers rewards.  There can be unconditioned expectation plus self-confidence.  Nature always takes care of her own.  

5 The moon is waning, yet we have 'a full moon shining in a clear sky.'  Reflected light is still light, so assimilating and imitating others' attainments, with ease and grace, could bring fame and wealth through brightening capacities.

}Relaying Friendly Potentials{

1 For over-all orientation:  We are in a Bright (Fast, Straightforward) Hermetic Epoch from November 3 until December 29, followed by a Dark (Slow, Internal, possibly confusing) Epoch from December 29 until February 24.  The middle of the Bright Epoch occurred  on Thanksgiving weekend and we remain close to it, so it could be a good time to consolidate plans, schedules, arrangements, connections, alliances.  You know pretty much what is going on and have studied it and figured it out quite well so now you could consolidate it so you don't lose it. (Or else accomplish that more completely over the next two to three weeks.)

2 The difficult side of Tuesday is suggested by 'a cataract falling from one rocky ledge to another.'  (Via Combusta, etc.)  One could be restless and impulsive, deficient in foresight.  But plans will not be 'lost in obscurity' if one sorts them out well.

3  'A man on a platform before an audience' has oratorical or literary gifts, perhaps yourself or someone who influences you.  He or she could be helpful, with the moon trine Jupiter.

4 'A house on fire' is not likely to be literal, but indicates an impulsive, enthusiastic, or visionary nature.  The zeal could be impractical, 'burning itself up' before attaining its purpose.  Still, inspiration is better than lethargy.

5 The Magnum Opus or great work of alchemical science could be taught by 'an ancient hieroglyphic manuscript with a retort and crucible upon it.'  This could be a sally into physical science, or metaphysical, even up to the transmutation and renovation of soul and body.. It is not that there are no veridical manuscripts teaching this, but that no one reads and comprehends them or puts them into practice. 

6 We are in 'a relay race' during which we take values and achievements from the past, carry them forward, then pass them on to a new generation.  In the process latent potentialities are discovered and refined, and we demonstrate our fitness to be running in the human 'race.'

}Up the Spiral Staircase{

1 For anyone desiring peace of mind, 'blame games' are no fun, yet we tend to fall into them.  Over the weekend most of us have contemplated our careers, our place or standing in the world.  We may think we have been like 'a soldier derelict in duty,' having deviated from our responsibilities, or we may feel justified in having so deviated if it was for reasons we had worked out carefully.  Duties may need to be modified by soul-inclinations, or desire-inclinations modified by duties.  

2 The emphasis on career, or a project, makes us feel like 'a person ascending a spiral staircase within a dark enclosure, with sunshine at the top.'  We have had small returns for our labor, but ultimately there is good luck.

3  In the midst of the cacophony of human chattering and (sometimes) shattering, somewhere there is 'a hidden choir singing.'  The music of the spheres inspires us to worship its Composer.  (More about this in paragraph 6)

4 The MIA soldier of paragraph 1 may be 'in the midst of a lot of children at play.'  You may let yourself be simple-hearted like a child, or feel fond of children and childlike amusements., at certain times during the day and evening.    

5 That does not mean shirking all effort.  'Rocks and things forming therein' would not be developing something good unless they were somehow laboring, or trying to remold the course of things.  The rocks' 'pregnancy' means that we create our own reality out of our endowments and the actual situations we are involved in.  A better composition of things takes time but could be peeking out at us.  

6 "I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, . . . saith the Lord of hosts.  For I am the Lord, I change not."  --Malachi 3: 5,6  ('Sorcerers' are 'spiritual soldiers' derelict in duty.)  Another passage, in Deuteronomy, condemns "observers of times" which meant people like astrologers who differentiate one time from another.  Such a warning is consistent with "For I am the Lord, I change not," that is, one who is in fear of or love of the Lord does not need to observe the changes of times, as in astrology, and would probably be misled by them.  I as Cosmic Piper heed these warnings as best I know how, consistent with what I have myself observed to be true through decades of careful observation.  I acknowledge our changeless Lord but also the changes of times as indicated in our Solar System by the motions of the planets.  ('Rocks and things forming therein.')  On Thanksgiving weekend I considered all this deeply and concluded that, just as a farmer who loves the Lord does in fact plant his wheat at the right time, and not when it has no chance of germinating, so these condemnations of 'observing times' are intended to root out superstition, not to invalidate honest and valid scientific observation.  For example, I report on the moon's void-of-course times here.  Is that a mistake?  I admit there are times when I think it might be.  If it encouraged people to slack off from obvious duties, it would be one of those things Deuteronomy condemned.  There are times when I think I should have left it out of the reports, but other times when it is strikingly obvious that a void-of-course period had special problems about which it could be valuable to be warned.  (An example is the events of 9/11/2001, when planes, buildings and people seemed to go "into the void.")  And so I leave it in the hands of the readers to determine, from their own experience, what the void-of-course periods mean for them.  I also try to point out often that good things can happen at those times and that one can keep up with obviously necessary tasks, and so on.  Do the v-of-c times help?  I invite your comments.  Heeding this admonition of Deuteronomy, I shall attempt in the future to say more about what they might mean on a given day when they come up.  But ultimately the reader has to decide.  We attempt to root out superstition but not throw out the baby with the bathwater.  As for the Lord being changeless while we ourselves live, with or without astrology, in a realm of samsara or endless mayavic change, that is true enough.  Yet Sri Aurobindo, in whom I believe, in his Integral Yoga admonishes us to acknowledge the reality of Maya or Samsara, that is, its relative reality as an Expression of the Divine, no matter how we may fail to understand it or be confused by it.  This viewpoint is not inconsistent with Hebrew wisdom, for in Psalm 9:9 we find, "The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble."  That is to say, the changeless Lord is a refuge from oppressive changes, not that he eliminates all change but that he is "at our right hand" through all of it.  "Underneath are the everlasting arms."

 Message for Thanksgiving Weekend, November 26-28, 2021

I hope you are having, or had, a Happy Thanksgiving.

Periodically I find it refreshing to review the past, my own life and the lives of others,  using the astrological techniques I have developed over the decades.  I am feeling that need in a big way today (Thanksgiving) and while I will celebrate the day with some friends I will also spend many hours working on improved astrological methods.  There is so much to learn by patient research.  

G*d is good!!  I am studying the way the 'malefic' planets Mars and Saturn work in the transits used for these daily reports, and how they work in weekly or longer-term charts.  Nothing is really 'malefic' in God's universe or in our Solar System.  This was made clear to me this morning in some breakthrough study of past events.  There are matters we call trials, problems, or challenges, but if you watch any soap opera or sitcom or any movie telling a story, you know that people want to see other people overcoming issues and problems, in order to strengthen their own perspective and resolve.  The 'problem' planets and aspects serve the same purpose, keeping things alive for us, but they do not ever have to be tragic.  That is a lesson we are learning through many lifetimes.  

And so I am feeling very good about astrology, and the G*d of astrology who is the G*d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Heavenly Father of Jesus, the Ishwara or Supreme Lord in Hinduism who took form as Rama and Krishna and Sri Aurobindo.  The One Supreme Lord is real and confers blessings on those who seek Him.

To do what seems needed I will take off this holiday weekend rather than write the daily reports for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.    Here are the lunar data for those days:

^Away from Precipice to Shared Innocence^

I don't want to ruin anyone's Thanksgiving, but if I weren't faithful to the astrological indications which have proved reliable in the past there would be no reason to do these reports.  The moon's position makes for an X cross in fixed signs, along with other uncomfortable lunar aspects.  'A man walking on the edge of a precipice' may need to watch his tongue as well as his feet, that is, beware of inciting fierce strife through opinion-disagreements (Mars square Jupiter).  People are likely to be honorable, but sensitive and impulsive.  Some might provoke combat without realizing it. 'A soldier with a crossbow standing behind an embrasure' is prudent, reserved and cautious, and equipped to be on the defensive.  

'A racecourse' could indicate 'a betting man' or more likely some pleasure in extravagant hopes, or an exciting game, or anything which suggests 'a hunchback rider of the red Wild-Ass' (Sri Aurobindo's Savitri).  The game-like competitive spirit is jovial.  'The Union Jack' suggests that someone has to take charge and supervise things.  There is 'a greater community of interest' which guides individual inclinations.  Whose flag reigns, a red or a blue one, yours or someone else's?  Well, the U.S. flag is both colors, let's not forget.  

'A little child learning to walk' could be any of us when we ditch our pretensions and are willing to recognize that others have skills or knowledge other than ours.  Then we do not feel threatened by anyone, but glory in the 'baby steps' of our individual innocent life-progression.  Others too are just babes in one way or another.  As if smiling on us, and making up for the colder weather, there is 'a woods rich in autumn coloring' shedding orange-red warmth to remind us of the fulfillments we share on this day of Thanksgiving.

A fixed-sign preponderance plus an almost-T-square in fixed signs show that people are firm in their convictions, right or wrong, agreeing with you or not.  'A man holding a pair of scales in one hand and a sword in the other' may be just, yet too severe, not allowing for human growth through trial-and-error.  We are likely to feel we want to justify our existence through some achievement, like 'a man at a table with drawing instruments and paper before him,' whether the endeavor be in architecture, engineering, the arts or any other field.

One never knows how the favorable sextile between Mars and Venus shall turn up, so with the moon in Leo we might have 'a woman charming snakes, one of them twined about her neck.'  She is 'active in the arts of conquest, watchful but suspicious and jealous,' her supposed love perhaps poisoned by egotism.  The 'snake' she charms could turn against her.  But we also have 'a person with a large pair of scales in the act of weighing,' that is, a capacity to control ourselves with attention to detailed measurement, which would protect from embarrassment or heartbreak.  

Venus is moving toward a sextile with Neptune, as well as prolonging her sextile with Mars on the other side, and we have 'the Goddess of Mercy enthroned.'  This is an important degree denoting any goddess figure or female embodiment of Divinity, or any merely human individual who is aligned with the Mercy pillar of Deity (as opposed to or complementary to the Justice pillar in the Kabala).  On this day before Thanksgiving there is deep sympathy in the home circle, yet extending beneficially in many directions.  Kindness may be the virtue we need most.  'A woods rich in autumn coloring' is blessing us with nature's bounty and glory.  We rejoice in harmony emanating from the over-all fulfillment of the harvest season.

P. P. S. An astrologer on Twitter, S. J. Anderson, pointed out that in April 2022 there shall be an incursion of major planets into Pisces, probably a very good signal. I replied, "Definitely interesting. It seems we have already had too much of bad Aquarius stuff, (Saturn and Jupiter there) if we take it as ruling the circulatory system which everybody wants to mess with endlessly (vaccination, boosters, etc.) Let's trust the lymphatic system more (Pisces) for natural immunity!"

'A battered hulk lying on the seashore' suggests being rudderless, battered by winds of adversity and feeling abandoned.  'The ocean covered with whitecaps' represents a restless consciousness which stirs up personal energy in an irrepressible manner.  It's better to keep moving than to languish overmuch. 

'A stupendous waterfall' shows a desire for the marvelous.  'A woman the father of her own child' is anyone of either sex who feels a need of reconciliation with things as they are.  There can be a nucleation of potentialities while spiritual ideals fuse with practical orientations.  

'A female in a state of nudity' could indicate many things.  Body-consciousness can be exalting or debasing.  'A person riding at high speed on a well-conditioned horse' could represent the sun now in Sagittarius, the sign of the horse or centaur.  A traveling, romantic life appeals.  (I dreamed last night that I was washing both sides of a badly neglected horse which appreciated my attentions; then when I awoke I realized the sun had just entered Sagittarius..)  Managing a horse is a sort of diplomatic instructiveness, and for us as 'centaurs' it is right, straightforward direction of our powers.

'A man lying on a heap of stones by the roadside' may have 'a hard bed to lie upon' yet somehow is content at heart.  He has freedom of spirit and a love of natural simplicity.  Some of our dreams lead to no practical result.  Yet we might be subtle, sensitive and sagacious, like a good detective or 'a serpent in the shape of the letter S.'  Nobody can impose on someone natively alert to devious plots.

'Boys and girls in gymnasium suits' are poised for discipline and training, estimating their own capacities in a schooled context.  There is supervision of animated group effort.  This can sometimes be exhilarating, as exhibited by an older group at 'a Grand Army of the Republic campfire.'  We are entering the year-end holiday season as the sun enters Sagittarius, Jupiter's sign.  We 'appreciate every phase of experience that has ever opened up' for us, while we reminisce and 'return to center through enduring ties with others.'  

At some moments there might even be the exuberance of 'a man of stout make, good proportions, and round rosy features, looking very merry and dancing grotesquely.'  'Eat, drink and be merry, for who knows about tomorrow?'  Of course such an attitude has natural limits, yet it could result in 'a girl's face breaking into a smile.'  Some will acquiesce in untroubled merriment, sharing the essence of selfhood gregariously.  Hurray for the simple things of life.

'A lonely traveler with a heavy burden on his back is assaulted by ruffians.'  Some may be imposed upon or wronged, though usually this is not because of malice but just difficult circumstances.  The moon's 12-hour void-of-course time could accentuate such matters.  Even if there should be trouble, 'many toys in the children's ward of a hospital' show that limitations can be made softer and easier by goodwill, and the abundance which human beings shower on one another.  

'The Halloween jester' releases buoyant energies in a refreshing way through what could be overbroad humor.  New, various modes of contact awaken a spontaneousness which opens up spiritual sensitivity as well as laughter.  Venus and Mars continuing their favorable sextile could produce 'a woman in trailing robes waving a wand around which is coiled a serpent.'  This amounts to cunning powers of persuasion or fascination, personal charm and attraction.

'A goblet emitting rays of ruddy light' indicates humaneness and generosity, even spiritual loftiness which enfolds all of humanity in benevolence. At the personal level this could be 'a girl's face breaking into a smile.'  She is acquiescent in anyone's genuinely offered, ingratiating magic of personality.

}Beyond Pugnacity to Computation and Orientation{

I write just after the verdict in the Rittenhouse trial.  I don't know how long there will be disputes about it, but for Saturday we have 'a harrow standing on an open field' which well represents the sort of criticism, sarcasm and aggression some on both sides of the issue may be throwing out.  The harrow or the one using it 'digs into the common soil of the human mind, to lay bare and expose its true nature, and to create dissensions, divisions and strifes, stirring up and leavening the pabulum of popular beliefs, and bringing to light their fallacies, impedimenta, and imperfections.  The mind will be pugnacious in the extreme, and although it may attract admirers it will have few sympathizers or adherents.'  Mutual criticism may be the keynote, plus self-criticism.  Those who care about the human race may be like 'an Indian mother pleading to the chief for the lives of her children.'  There needs to be non-violent give-and-take in human allegiances, balancing rights and wrongs effectively.  The nation seems to be struggling in that direction.  

At a calmer level, we are near the middle of a Bright Hermetic Epoch when our minds can fathom things definitively, and map out research,  science or personal affairs in the light of clear thinking, even while Mercury squares Jupiter exactly today.  This is a need to see both sides of things.  You may realize, if you ponder it, that you have found some excellent methods, strategies or plans in your work or a personal project.  These could gain recognition or applause eventually.  There could be new or improved methods of computation.  You are studious and serious concerning your particular bailiwick.  You are 'a good marksman' aiming well at objectives and at the truths which will implement them.  A co-worker in such areas may be visible or invisible.

If all this should be more playful, it could be like 'children playing around five mounds of sand.'  Naivete is a form of simple integrity.  Before commitment, one experiments through innocuous trial-and-error.  Beside the sand-mounds there is 'an ancient bas-relief carved in granite,' something utterly solid and reliable you can use as an orienting foundation.

}Self-Faithful Ideality as Magic{

Each in our own way we are facing the T square of planets in fixed signs, focused on Saturn the hardest planet and with three others in Scorpio sometimes the hardest sign, and with Mars opposite Uranus exactly.  We are lucky that there is not more violence going on than there actually is.  It seems to be happening within people's consciousness, in political or other disagreements, sometimes legal combat.  'A tiger crouching for a spring on its prey' is said by Charubel to be 'a revengeful, treacherous and cruel person.'  We are lucky if we confront such only through the news media, fiction or movies.  As a defense we have 'A rocky eminence out of which is carved a cross in stone, standing against the rising sun as if haloed in divine light.'  If our minds are firm and dependable, our tastes austere or monastic, our character faithful, we are secure. 

'An Eastern town' might indicate literally someone you know who is east of you, or some such nation, or it might indicate any subjective or objective connection with far-off places or folks.  'Telephone linemen at work' are making it possible for all to link with all regardless of distinctive areas of focus.  We specialize, yet remain attached to all, or anyone, whenever convenient.

There is currently not a single one of the ten basic planets in a fire sign, and so we have 'a fire worshiper' as suggesting a need to establish 'an inviolable tie with the creative power of the universe itself' (Dr. Jones).  Aspirations can be spiritualized, and talents dedicated to 'the over-all reality.'  The individual 'must demonstrate his ultimate independence of his circumstances' and then 'ideality is brought to the point of miracle.'  

This utter magic is not merely self-centered, for 'the king of the fairies is approaching his domain.'  Accidental reliance on people and things is not necessary to one who 'exercises his sovereignty over outer reality's forms in creative realms of his own imagination.'  Then all yield allegiance to oneself in one's own domain.

In the month of Scorpio with political rhetoric and outrage running high, we are entertained by 'a military band on the march.'  This is a blare of self-affirmation and intrepidity.  However, at its worst Scorpio can be cruel and crafty, perhaps predatory, like 'a fox running apace in the moonlight.'  Zeal in the pursuit of his designs may win, though 'some incidents cannot bear the light of day.'  

'The Wichita lineman is still on the line' and people and things get connected, appropriately attached to one another, through one method or another.  Widely separated and distinctive individuals get linked somehow for the greater good.  Our clairvoyant Charubel gives us '* * *' indicating 'an extraordinary person, destined to take an active part in public life and exercise a great influence on mankind.'   This could be you or anyone who impresses you as super-significant.  

Venus and Mars continue to dance with each other, separated by less than two degrees, and 'two men are seated at a table with beakers of wine before them.'  Self-indulgence and indiscretion go along with liberality and frankness.  Kindness plus weakness add up to comradeship, whether same-sex or other-sex.    At best this could even be represented by 'a dove', someone with moral courage who acts from the heart more than the head--'a true friend; a constant lover.'

If you are not 'swimming in an angry sea', helping others to your own disadvantage, you may be a very reserved 'mole,' or a person dwelling in 'a great and lonely tower rising from an eminence of rock.'  Taciturnity and reserve could command respect, because your stability is reassuring. The Saturnine |difficult third| is at its peak, challenging us to hold steady in the midst of obstacles or delays.  This does not necessarily imply being alone, but being calmly self-possessed if with others.  

When there are pressures, one may need to extemporize, as 'Indians making camp' who find everything they need immediately at hand if they are alert to potentialities.  Or, Luna with Uranus could make one 'an inventor experimenting' in an intellectual or imaginative way, being clever enough to get something done beyond normal expectation.  

Acquiring knowledge, helpful explanations of nature's processes, can give direct fulfillment (three planets in Scorpio, an investigative sign).  Endless facets of things throw light on one another.  One might spend time in 'a spacious park with a baronial mansion in the background', perhaps an estate borrowed for some immediate purpose as if it belonged to oneself.  One's ancestors were well-off and generous.

The 8-hour void-of-course period plus the |difficult third| require self-defense from contrary, hurtful influences.  This should be done without intense anger or upset but with patience and fortitude.  'A wolf standing upon the carcass of a horse' could mean that some will try to snatch an advantage in an avaricious or cunning manner.  Probably one does not want to be either the wolf or the carcass, but rather to be patient under duress (horse), while yet avoiding predators, and savvy when it comes to gaining an advantage if it won't hurt anyone (wolf).  

Making choices can be enjoyable, even during a v-of-c period, if one is calm, avoiding anything extreme.  'A man inspecting horses' is a good judge of them, or of any convenience, technological tool or servo-mechanism, or of any possible purchase or commitment. One can investigate, measure, estimate and validate whatever comes up for consideration.   One may not want to criticize, or be criticized, yet estimation and discrimination are useful.

There could be the flavor of 'an embassy ball' to some interactions, given the continuing close sextile between Mars and Venus. You and someone you care about could be poised for party-like times together.   More soberly, there is 'a white flag unfurled, bearing a red Maltese cross.'  There is nobility, and pure intention, working through suffering to eventual triumph, 'vanquishing every puny foe.'

I do not believe that the human race is 'a large encampment of women, children, old people, and invalids.'  But it sometimes seems that way.  I believe in the assurances of divine metaphysics that all are inherently strong and well, if they are able to manifest their latent G*d-given qualities.  And so the second sentence of the symbol:  'A man at the gate is keeping guard.'  There is protection, whether from the Supreme Himself or Herself, or others delegated.  You may be one of them, or benefit from others so delegated.  'A true knight will such be; a defender of the defenseless, a benefactor of the poor and indigent.' 

People disagree on what will really help, in social service or politics, and over who should provide the help; thus we have the Red and Blue divergence in the USA and similar divisions elsewhere.  'A bull pawing up the earth will have his own way; his anger is lasting.'  We may see this, for example, in Steve Bannon today; and also the unrelated trial of Kyle Rittenhouse is at an important stage.  In your own case you could feel resentful that some do not see what seems to you the obvious truth about justice in some situation.

Who then represents your ideals in a decisive way to which you are glad to adhere?  'Crowds are coming down the mountain to listen to one man.'  Is this Jesus, or some other Avatar such as Sri Aurobindo, or a spiritual or political leader?  To have such a leader, confidently, is reassuring, and also challenging because leaders make requests.  Higher realizations are brought down to earth in a practical focus to be effective.  Someone of whom you are aware is appealing to the higher potentialities of everyone, to team up personal ambitions for meeting human needs.

I try to avoid politics, and the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse has unfortunately been transformed by the media into politics, but I'll say this.  CNN mentioned on Thursday that the peak of the harshness in the trial, when Rittenhouse broke down (appropriately if one can put oneself in his shoes), was on Wednesday, and if you look at the Cosmic Piper reports you will see that that day was the peak of the |karmically serious, sobering, challenging third| of this week.  It's when the hardest things usually happen.  Watch it, week after week, and you will see, whether it is in health, worry, mood, or relationships.  Or court cases.  Further, I decided to look at the day of the attacks in Kenosha, August 25, 2020, and I find that Mars in Aries, its own sign, was EXACTLY square Saturn in Capricorn, its own sign (26 Aries to 26 Capricorn).  These are the two malefic planets, as determined by the ancient astrologers who had the time and acumen to figure these things out.  It was not an easy day for anyone, and Rittenhouse was at the center of the storm. He was born January 3, 2003, with both moon and sun in Capricorn, Saturn's sign, and Mars in Scorpio, the other sign of Mars, plus many other factors of an explosive chart, including Venus in Scorpio with Mars, both square Jupiter, and Saturn quincunx (fateful) both Mars and Venus, and much more.  That does not mean he was guilty, nor does it mean that he may not have acted legitimately in self-defense.  His birth-chart is a textbook case of a potentially violent chart, but that does not indicate his guilt or innocence or whether or not he acted in self-defense. (From testimony so far, I'm inclined to think that he did.)

'The moon in her first quarter' is not literally true; she is in her second quarter; but this indicates something a little premature, though it has strong potentials.  There is speculation or a desire for change of a sanguine nature.  'On the whole, fortunate' says Charubel.  Luna in Aries, the first sign, square Venus indicates some prize or fruit (Venus) just out of reach, yet reaching for it can be a good experience preparing one for something better.

Three planets remain in Scorpio, a sign of transition, as if 'a bunny metamorphosed into a fairy.'  This suggests kaleidoscopic imagination and poetry of soul, mirroring character while remolding everyday reality.  Naive animal impulses are lifted up through ideal aspiration.  

'A man is climbing a steep hill, a road of steps; an angel form at the top gives words of cheer and holds a golden crown.'  An object worthy of ambition inspires a long climb.  The longed-for fulfillment of the mission ensures its actual fulfillment.

Lunar aspects are good, yet we are still working out from the intense squares from Scorpio to Saturn in Aquarius, and so at times we might feel like 'a man desponding, standing on a barren plain with leaden colored clouds overhead.'  Such a mood is likely to come and go, perhaps with thoughts about those who have passed into the next world, or else about those who are currently absent from us.  The moon with Neptune can be loneliness, though one can find spiritual support if one rises up to selfless, unconditioned love.  

Mercury in Scorpio opposite Uranus could be investigation and original, striking insight.  Let's not forget that we are in a Bright Hermetic Epoch when we can map out hopes and plans successfully (until December 29, and even better up to about November 30).  'A mariner's compass' belongs to us if we realize we have it, and use it.  There is both intuition and sharp mental analysis, tending toward either fertile secret studies or fresh explorative discoveries.  

The very long-lasting sextile between Mars and Venus brings cheer and goodwill to all relations, whether deep or transitory.  It brings real couples closer to each other, and facilitates also casual connections or loose friendships.  The fraternity-sorority of all humans is symbolized by a fellowship supper.'  We need one another's company in 'the common grooves of shared experience.'   This can be less objective when experienced in memory or imagination, or through movies and so on, though based on a personal store of outer social intercourse.

Saturn, the most demanding planet, remains at point focus in a T square, and there are three planets in Scorpio, also a demanding sign, so 'a soldier derelict in duty' may be what we think of ourselves or of someone else.  Yesterday was Veterans' Day, so we might compare ourselves to those unsung heroes and sense that we could be more faithful to the common welfare of our compatriots.  Perhaps you are tempted to drop your ordinary work.  Obligations and desires seem in conflict.  Maybe some minor deviation from your schedule will satisfy your inner stirring toward freedom, rather than a full-scale revolt or Missing in Action scenario.  

The moon in Pisces trining the three Scorpio planets, while the sun is trine Neptune exactly, opens up untapped resources in consciousness.  One can master things at a mental-intuitive level.  One might have insight into people's motives and thus 'a gift for organizing their efforts along any given line.'  True vision brings supremacy over any situation, as if one were 'a veiled prophet of power.'  

The moon in Pisces gives a childlike quality (witness two individuals who had it in their birth charts, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley).  'A man in the midst of a lot of children at play' has 'great simplicity of manner' and is 'fond of children and childish amusements.'  This could be you or someone you hang out with, connect with or witness.  

Does that mean you neglect duties, as in paragraph 1?  Perhaps, or you might succeed in balancing them with childlike fun.  Then you would be demonstrating prophetic insight and supremacy (paragraph 2).

There could be something lurking in your consciousness concerning parentage.  'A nest of young, unfledged birds lying upon the ground' could point to someone you know who is or was an orphan, or to feelings you have about your own parents. We are told that practical self-assertion and effort are insurance against desolation and despair.  An orphan can yet 'attain to considerable distinction.'     

The Scorpio month can be 'dark' in more ways than one; we notice the sunlight hours getting shorter, but this helps us focus on internal matters which need calm resolution.  'A dark archway with ten logs at the bottom' could be mysterious in a forbidding way, but we should not let ourselves be bound by peculiarities. Complexities require thorough exploration so they are no longer baffling.  

Daily Venus gets closer to a sextile with Mars, and we have 'a woman drawing two dark curtains aside.'  She is gambling either on her bodily charm or some talent she could demonstrate.  Rather than just self-exhibition, courage crosses thresholds of limitation to make experience more rewarding.  There is daring because of a psychological indomitability 'plunging ahead in every new adventure of accomplishment.'

|Karmically serious, sobering, challenging third| of this week continues until Thursday afternoon

Three planets in Scorpio squared to Saturn in Aquarius create pressure and challenge, especially today with the moon joining in.  There are various ways to meet that.  One is masculine and assertive, symbolized by 'a stiletto and tavola (table),' that is, someone who is 'a good trencherman, of sharp wit, who will make friends easily, though his enemies be equally numerous.'  'Headstrong and quick-tempered, he will yet bear himself bravely and honorably in strife, and his enemies will have much respect for him, while his friends will hold him up as a champion.'  He is 'eager in contention yet cautious in self-defense, and a convivial companion.'  (I let Sepharial have his say in full because he gave an excellent interpretation of the symbol.)  You may know someone who fits this description, or embody it yourself (at least partially). With both sun and moon in fixed signs, people are firm in their convictions.

It's impossible to do justice to variations within the sexes using the "he" and "she" pronouns we have to use.  I'll use the feminine for this paragraph, as opposed to the masculine in the previous one, but the former might describe a female and this a male.  'A heart surmounted by an aureole' signifies devotion of a high order, perhaps higher than those to whom she is devoted realize.  She has no guile, but 'perfect confidence in those to whom she gives her heart.'  She succeeds where others fail because of whole-heartedness.  

In realms of business there is perfectionism and artistry, plus executive ability.  On the social side we have 'the moon shining across a lake' intimating the magical rapport which can arise between any two individuals when they are honest and forthright in sharing their yearnings.

Finishing up old or needed things is probably better than trying anything new while the moon is void-of-course for nine hours.  Yet we have 'Indians rowing a canoe and dancing a war dance' with the keyword Mobilization.  One should pick one's battles very carefully, and the 'war dance' is preliminary, which is fine for a v-of-c period, with the actual combat coming later.  Aggressive leadership sidetracks minor issues for the sake of major ones.  The dance might scare away the enemy so that war is unnecessary.  Another way of spending a v-of-c time could be as one of a group of 'deep-sea divers.'  One is involved in ramifying day-by-day problems very consciously.  If immediate answers are not possible, there is still self-refinement through a testing of skills. 

Attractions and affections may or may not be "real" love.  'A woman is charming snakes, one of which is twined about her neck.'   The long-lasting sextile between Mars and Venus turns up surprising love-connections even if they are temporary or on the verge of danger.  'Mastery over the passions of others' may be illusory or temporarily successful.  Poisoned love or jealousy could be disastrous (difficult third plus void-of-course).  Do 'arts of conquest' have a legitimate place?  I leave it to you.  Some may choose rather to be alone, looking out from 'a very small unpretentious window in the wall of a massive tower.'  They do not seek display but revel in their native powers, 'independent of external aids and happy amid the offspring of their own genius.'  

The opposite option is making one's domicile 'a small cottage with wide-open door,' being hospitable and generous.  One could even go too far with the sympathy if one is imposed upon by 'human weaknesses and foibles.'  There is some golden mean between kindness and suspicion, a wise selection of friends and confidants.  Life brings seasonal fulfillment through 'a woods rich in autumn coloring.'  All is promising when 'personal excellence is compounded a thousandfold.'
