The final day of an Old Moon (and first day of a New) can be a time for solitude, as if one were in 'a great and lonely tower rising from an eminence of rock.' One is independent, relying on one's own counsel, capable of standing alone. Usually that stance will be respected and well-regarded. Innate stability assures that one's fortunes remain untouched. 'The Pope' may be a deeper part of oneself reaching for the sanctity which derives from 'sacrificing oneself in enduring service to the race at large.' That wins appreciation.
'A spade protruding from the soil' shows 'difficult and protracted work ultimately crowned by success.' This could be Uranus in Taurus, an earth sign, opposed now by three planets in Scorpio (making a 'fanhandle' configuration, with the single handle planet, Uranus, stronger than the other three). The New Moon, early in a Bright Epoch, suggests incisive thinking regardless of others' advice. Uranus is an experimentative planet, and we have 'an inventor experimenting.' This can be 'creative achievement in a special niche.' Cleverness foments 'accomplishment beyond normal expectation.'
The lighter, smoother side of the day is suggested by 'a youth holding a lighted candle.' He or she offering the gentle flame illumines and opens transcendental realms of reality, with rewards of the spirit. 'A lyre upon which there hangs a wreath of laurels' sounds forth something uplifting whether in the arts, drama, or music. The finer emotions of the soul take shape in an edifying manner.
