}Into the Void Again?{

We have a day-and-a-half of the moon void-of-course, which is quite rare. To those of you who doubt that this means much I must convey the following. First, we have had a lot of it lately because the outer slow-moving planets are all in early degrees of signs. Now the inner quicker-moving planets are gradually getting toward later positions within their respective signs and so there will be fewer void-of-course hours as we go along over the coming weeks. But not today and tomorrow.

Next, as to its importance: It is very important! The trouble with explaining it and using it is that the explanation has to be complex. It means different things at different times to different people but there is a consistency in it which I try over and over to put into words. If you watch it carefully every day you will slowly find out how to use it. Obviously we can't all go on vacation every time it happens. So I emphasize, for those times, (a) routine work which is necessary and which you know how to do and (b) recreation or meditation or whatever gives you release from worry. I do not recommend fresh, positive, ambitious activities at those times when a particular result is essential, or conferences or communications which are controversial or complex, or signing contracts or reaching final agreements. Negotiation could be fine, but sealing the deal should be later after the moon has entered a new sign and is no longer void-of-course. Ordinary shopping as for groceries can be fine (although you might wonder later why you purchased a few items) but buying a diamond ring or house or computer is not recommended!

An example of what it can mean: As I write on Wednesday, the moon was void-of-course Tuesday evening and I really felt at loose ends. Nothing seemed to make sense or be working as it ought to and I wondered where I was, what I was doing in this body and world. I did not "freak out" but I pondered, studied, prayed, and arrived at a few tentative conclusions about certain matters which did not feel certain. Meanwhile I was treated to the loudest and longest half-hour shouting match between a male and female neighbor I have ever heard in this location. This was doubtless connected with the Mars square Uranus and opposite Pluto configuration. I slept fitfully and in the morning did not feel like getting up at the usual time. I lounged in bed pondering and I must admit worrying. Finally I began to feel a little better and roused myself. I looked at the clock and then the daily chart. It was 8:58 a.m. in my zone and the moon had entered Gemini, no longer void-of-course, 15 minutes earlier at 8:43. I did not know this consciously or even what time it was but something in me knew it was time to get going again and felt much better about everything. I think millions of people go through something like this every time the moon is void-of-course but of course do not know anything about the astronomical phenomenon.

With the help of the previous paragraphs I will let you give yourself your own advice about today and Friday.

The intensity and complexity of current aspects is thinning out, and that feels to me somewhat of a relief. But please remember I said "somewhat." Mars is still closely opposite Pluto and square Uranus. This is a desire for freedom, since it is focused on Uranus, but the way to freedom is complex, and somewhat backward because Uranus is retrograde. Today, Thursday, it involves work as well as attention to finances. Remember the v-of-c advice, routine rather than unusual, new or high-falutin' work.

As for Mars opposite Pluto, it can be violent and turbulent--we have seen that in Egypt and elsewhere. Yet we see also attempts to control violence such as the Obama-Kerry initiative in bringing Palestinians and Israelis together, which began at a meeting Monday in Washington and will continue for weeks ahead. The situation of Bradley Manning is relevant here--he is to be sentenced soon, perhaps while I am writing . Here is how astrologer Robert Pelletier interprets the aspect: "The problem is to determine whether you are motivated by a lust for power and control or whether you should use your energy as a force for social responsibility." This of course is partly what Manning saw as a problem in his government. His government sees it as a problem in Manning. "You could be spiritually dedicated to make necessary changes in your environment." I believe that Manning was, regardless of whether the specific steps he took were justified or not.  "However, you may encounter powerful forces with the economic advantage to frustrate you in your objectives." No comment necessary. Now, if you apply this also to Snowden, to the Palestinians and the Israelis, and the Egyptians, one sees what this aspect is all about. The military is involved in all these cases (Mars) and also powerful financial interests (Pluto). They clash and interact in multiple ways, either violently or seditiously or sub rosa (secrets as ruled by Pluto) and often with a "lust for power or control." How this aspect is working out in your own life is for you to decide; perhaps what has just been said will help. Whom do you want to control or who is trying to control you? "Influence" is a more subtle form of control which is what most of us would be dealing with. The aspect lasts, by ten-degree orb, through August 10.

You might watch with curiosity the hours just before and after the void-of-course time in late morning (given above). This final aspect of the moon while in Gemini is a square with Venus as well as a sextile with Uranus. Something is brewing in your love-nature at that time. An obsession,  flirtation or infatuation? It could be quite compelling, even thrilling. Of course it is going on in others also; and so strange attractions could be intense. Where they go after that may be into the void! Or not, if they are important enough to you to be rescued in due course.

}Love Within Service and Deep Perspective{

I shall not repeat the exposition of void-of-course given yesterday.

1 Stage: There is service, a need to do what is basic; we all serve the world in some capacity. That which is old and established gets your attention as something you can rely upon intellectually and spiritually. You are resourceful no matter what happens financially.

2 Focus: There is self-indulgence and fun, friendship and genial interaction. It could be sensuous. A side of you watches your "prey" as if a spider waiting to move in--let's not say for the kill but for the denouement, whatever that may be. You see into people and their scheming and can scheme yourself. This is mostly centered around sheer pleasure.

3 Concern: A part of you feels it essential to care for and continue your work. "Work before play" is a generally useful motto. Your temperament is attuned to beauty, wealth, munificence, fruitfulness, and therefore open to receiving more of them.

4 Ado: You could become proud of things which are artificial and seem childish to someone else. You could appear superficial and peevish, making someone miserable. And someone could do this to you. However,  you could juggle things and possibilities in an interesting way and recover your poise.

5 Issue: Although there are good and hopeful aspects, such as Venus sextile Mars exactly, there is also a "troubled strain" connected with the septiles of Venus and Mercury to Saturn. You want a sanction for underlying inexpressible purposes of your life, beyond surface pleasure. You are not afraid to look ahead into darkness, for you know you must pass through it as part of your destiny.

6 Resolution: You know your foundations and need to remember them. This is partly your family background. Grandparents and other ancestors may be with you in consciousness. Convictions need to be absolute. Something in them was absolute and you have it too. Then you can  bring about desired results in the present, pleasingly genteel and fulfilling.

7 Essence: You reach up to become something you want to be. Yet you also need to reach down to perform humble work. Gold must be mined with a pickax, spiritual gold with service to others as well as yourself. When you get the feel of this you are free from concern about supremacy.

Tuesday 30 July 2013

Sun in Leo, Assurance; Moon in Taurus, Peace; Fortuna in 10, Honor

/moon goes void-of-course at 8:59a PT | 11:59a ET | 3:59p UT
|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week continues
until 5:10p PT | 8:10p ET | 12:10a(W) UT

\Utility as Guide/

1 Stage: All are trying to be good. Surprise? The heart overrules the head. Schemes are seen through. So, let's just stop scheming and get along? What an amazing thought! Yet all want to preserve their rights and prerogatives, naturally. There is a way, though it take a while to discover.

2 Focus: There is ardor and exaltation. There is a desire to know all and tell all. This can be focused spiritually as well as materially--in the latter case, the realm of gossip or chitchat about people and politics. So let us try to raise our sights beyond trivia to worthiness and spiritual faculties.

3 Concern: It is well to be careful in attending to detail. It is not well to reach too high too fast, or try too hard to be something beyond one's current feasible position. This could stir up rivalry or even enmity (Mars square Uranus applying by less than a degree).

4 Ado: Studying something you love to study is a great pleasure. Its value is beyond fame for yourself. It has to do partly with suffering, bereavement for example--where are those who are gone? Where did they go? The teachings about the afterlife and reincarnation may be relevant in a strong way.

5 Issue: With Venus approaching a close sextile with Mars, you might abandon yourself to a secretive flirtation or infatuation. This has its dangers as well as its value, showing what you need to learn. Something in you wants to rise beyond merely personal attractions toward something universally relevant and useful, to make your capacities manifest in  a material way.

6 Resolution: One gains knowledge in hundreds of ways, perhaps through books, mostly through experience and observation. Explanation and reasoning has its place, not only in the precise sciences but the more flexible and intuitive ones such as personal psychology. You see how people mold themselves to please their parents or ancestors, for example. Usually this is admirable, although we are in an era when the individual is learning how to be his own exacting parent, perhaps choosing others than his parents as guides or authorities. No one said that is easy.

7 Essence: It is refreshing to take a matter-of-fact attitude. What will this do for me or someone else? Does it have a utility? Then I can do it without fuss or inhibition. We project ourselves beyond ourselves, as in what we wear or think or assume or act out. That is helpful, and then it needs to be boiled down to something useful in the immediate context, especially when the moon is void-of-course and routine matters are often the most important.

/moon void-of-course until it enters Gemini
at 8:43a PT | 11:43a ET | 3:43p UT

}Joyful Entanglement?{

1 Stage: There is dignity, with Fortuna in the 10th sector of honor or profession. You know your worth but don't want to flaunt it, rather preserve it trustfully. There is also a sort of holiday or festive spirit, a relief from recent tensions, so little rituals of mutual appreciation have happy results.

2 Focus: There is pride and display. You are in a position where people will listen to what you say and so you feel conscious of wanting to say what will be interesting, first of all, but also not terribly insulting to anyone. There can be good taste and luxury.

3 Concern: With your heart in your work, you are pleased to carry on and build it up to something memorable. You are a good observer and no one puts anything over on you. You might, through careful tactics, eliminate anything unfair and deceptive which has been perpetrated upon you.

4 Ado: The ordinary is safety and is interesting, because you feel like delving into it and getting things finished. A building, your own or one you visit or observe, symbolizes something lasting or reliable.

5 Issue: Determination and steadiness help you rule your environment. You could deviate from this when feeling strongly attracted to someone or something. Do you need to throw yourself away on this (moon square Neptune and Venus)? You might decide rather to be ruthlessly practical.

6 Resolution: Still, there is magic, there is an ideal you love, and it will work with you to influence things in  a better direction. Someone might thrill you by inviting you into her or his personal world in a way which reassures you that almost anything is possible despite doubts (Venus sextile Mars).

7 Essence: People are trying to be more than themselves. This is good as an attempt, a stretching exercise. It could get complicated when your relations with someone are confused or entangling. Who is leading whom? Who is being deceived by whom? Or it is a sort of mutually willed mutual deception and entanglement? That may not be bad at all! By evening you could be realizing how to steer past tricky confusion to satisfaction.

*Hanging Loose with Hope*

The slew of current aspects is perplexing. Though I take them to be basically beneficent, the square of the sun with Saturn is always tough, calling forth either "true grit" or failure. So the old adage that you have to do things you don't want to do is true again with force. Then after you've begun to do them, of course, you are glad you did.

Mars opposing Pluto is a peculiar one--in many it will be a realization of sexual problems or an ability to deal with them. Obsessions are seen to be obstructions or just pointless and silly or even destructive if persisted in once one has realized their futility. At worst this is an aspect of sadism or rape, but with the opposition this can be more theoretical, on the inner planes, rather than physical (as it might be with the square).

Meanwhile Venus in good aspect with Jupiter and Mars on one side and Saturn on the other is a sustaining goodness which can be fortunate in a big way even though we don't realize how fortunate we are. Love of a restrained sort is in the air. It wants to be safe and so holds back from garish expression.

1 Stage: You feel you don't want to cater to people if this takes you too far out of your natural orbit. So you disjoin yourself from groups or individuals who don't feel right at present. Maybe they are disappointed. But you tend to the simple things which are necessary. Dairy products may be significant.

2 Focus: There is courage and splendor within you, wanting to come out, and you can broadcast it in one way or another. You do not have to be terribly worried about how people will respond, though you sensibly try to avoid gossip. If you are fair in your mind people will sense that you mean no harm when doing or saying things which reflect on them.

3 Concern: Not caring about "the fruits" or results of one's serious well-intended endeavors is a famous injunction of the Bhagavad Gita. You may be realizing what this means for you. Of course, everyone really does care, at some level, but realizing that one really wants to carry on regardless of the response from the world, because it is one's dharma or duty or reason for being, is a satisfaction in itself. Then, believe it or not, although I should not promise it! you get favor from the Supreme and the world and people because they appreciate you for who you are and what you do. They would not appreciate you as much if you were focused only on the results or gains.

4 Ado: There can be youth, artistry and music. This is coupled with curiosity about the world, as if pondering a map on which you might travel in the future. A place of entertainment as well as learning fascinates you and you map a way of visiting it.

5 Issue: Intense attractions are not always for the best. Yet cutting them off artificially can be cutting off some part of oneself. Making fun of them might be best! Then when one laughs one is not rejecting one's obsession or infatuation totally but putting it in a relaxing perspective. People can be ridiculously and hurtfully obsessed with each other, as in the 1987 movie Fatal Attraction, but when they laugh at themselves they recover from the lurking poison in the relationship.

6 Resolution: Hanging loose with others is a key. They and you are children learning how to live, to dance the dance of life, and do not have to be perfect or even competent. It's a process of seeing how others do it, doing it yourself, and not caring much about how you do, even though you try to be better in your own way.

7 Essence: A contemplative approach is good. The moon being void-of-course makes contemplation as good as action in many cases. There is beauty around you to be enjoyed, in nature and humanity. Reaching ahead in mind to something you can't do yet is relaxing because it shows you what is possible. That hope is enough to sustain you through lassitude or worriment.

Sun Leo, Assurance; Moon in Taurus, Peace; Fortuna in 10, Honor

|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week continues

\Opportunity Not To Be Missed/

It has been pointed out by some astrologers that today, because the moon in Taurus for this day only forms a grand trine with Pluto and Venus in earth signs, collectively sextile the grand trine in water signs we have discussed over the past weeks, we have the very rare Grand Sextile--two grand trines collectively in a sextile relation with each other. It forms what has been called the Star of David, although the Jewish Encyclopedia written by rabbis affirms that this was not known to David but was adopted as a symbol by the Jewish community around 700 A. D.  In fact, it was the Star or Symbol of Vishnu many centuries earlier among the Hindus. Therefore it was adopted as a symbol by Sri Aurobindo for his Integral Yoga. It is basically beneficent, although not without problems since it involves also at least three (and this time actually five) oppositions. This day might hold something special for you if you can mold things as the following paragraphs suggest.

1 Stage: You know how to keep ingenious schemes turning in your life. They proceed from one level to another with predictability and so you can accomplish much with mathematical certitude. You are enlisting for service which can truly save people from dangers.

2 Focus: You have power, talent, and superiority along some line. You can push yourself in a truly successful direction, not caring how much or how little publicity you get--probably the more the better. You want to spread news or information and will be successful brilliantly.

3 Concern: You can build up a name for yourself, but there are lazy, decadent trends which could defeat you. A part of you would rather be relaxing, eating and sleeping. This would be possible to a delightful degree with the moon trine Venus and sextile Jupiter, among other excellent aspects, but look at what you would lose! Rather, you could enjoy some of those pleasures within your work schedule and still accomplish what you really want to accomplish to feel good about yourself.

4 Ado: A depressing side of the day would get you worrying more about the past, and mourning things or people seemingly lost, than attending to business. This could go along with a selfish mood, "I need this so I will go after it regardless of anyone else's supposed rights." It is well to be very careful about (a) too much worry and (b) too much grasping and bellicosity. The two tend to reinforce each other.

5 Issue: A secret attachment or obsession could ruin things. You see nothing wrong with it though something be wrong. So you could demand what is impossible from the world or someone looming large in your feelings. Some could turn drastically from attractive to repellent and dangerous. Then you need to buck up and find the real significance and value in the situation.

6 Resolution: Looking at some as if looking at a natural phenomenon, as a detached psychologist, could help. When you explain their behavior to yourself, you relax rather than tense up. Life is an experiment. You can predict what people are likely to do, and find security in that, and then help them release their creative powers, as if an instructor, through dramatizing the trends in them.

7 Essence: It is important to avoid stagnation. You could coast too much. Things look easy, but letting them be too easy would make them much harder on other days. Indolence is wasteful. Being involved with the wrong individual is detrimental to both of you. Higher implications help you project yourself beyond the boring or blase` toward what will invest your life and other lives with meaning. Paragraphs 2 and 6 may point the way.

*Entering Fairyland*

Luna entering Aries and forming a trine with Sol in Leo just before the beginning of the weekend is a happy omen. This could be a good party or entertainment evening. Darker issues are present, such as Mars opposing Pluto and Venus opposing Neptune, perhaps lifestyle issues or a clash of tastes, while the sun square Saturn shows that we will not drop our concern about work or projects in which we feel success or failure is invested.

Nobody likes to hear this, but although Mercury is direct, the Dark Hermetic Epoch continues another week until Saturday August 3. For example, the horrid train wreck in Spain is reminiscent of the accidents we had during the retrograde cycle. What this means practically is that you may feel you are slow at many things or lazy and diffuse. On a weekend that is not necessarily a bad thing.

1 Stage: There can be idle diversions. You are capable of more than you set your mind to. You let things slide while the mind wanders. There can be humor as release. "Why worry? Laugh at life!"

2 Focus: You are the only one capable of a particular endeavor. You can do it though some do not understand how good you are at it. You are up, within yourself, for competition, and see into subtleties others are missing. You rely on intelligence and cunning.

3 Concern: The long haul is what you have decided to persist in, with care for all details. You are confident and display your powers whether people respond in a friendly way or not. It is very good to know certainly what you are engaged in.

4 Ado: What is not yet clear is not a threat but a mystery. You are brimming over with soul-force and a natural glorious urge to display what is compelling about yourself. This takes solid budding forms neither you nor anyone could predict.

5 Issue: Latent capacities or talents are startling but may be undeveloped. Rather than take them for granted you can develop them after the moon enters Aries (above). Your strong personality can impress people--or disturb them if you seem tyrannical.

6 Resolution: Rather than startle people you can nurture them, please them, and treat them to diversions, for they wish to be on a merry-go-round of the perceptions. Not only girls but little and big boys "just want to have fun."

7 Essence: You and all want to be free from strain. This can take forms of fantasy. It's a fairy-tale world. People will connect with one another intimately by  sharing food and drink, mirth, the fruits of life, easy earthly pleasures. Some signal relationship could be developing.

*Modesty*

1 Stage: Things are quieter and calmer than yesterday. This might be somewhat depressing. One feels one does not desire as much human contact. Routines are a comfort. The barest necessities seem better than anything exciting. You are diligent with whatever makes you useful to the world and yourself.

2 Focus: People are curious and gossipy. They want to know everything about you and others. You also may indulge your curiosity. There is argument, or at least controversy, so you have to decide how far to engage in the contention or contest of ideas and viewpoints.

3 Concern: Continuity in your life-tasks is a blessing because it affirms who you are. It is sad that you feel some do not understand this, either your motives or your competence. They may seem to desert you almost treacherously. You can be cautious in your reactions and words. They are worried about their own issues more than yours.

4 Ado: There's a contrast between what is within you--a strong soul-force wanting to show forth fresh beauty and glory to the world--and something else which is listless, almost lazy, relaxed, not caring about much except relaxing at home contentedly.

5 Issue: You feel as if you are an unfinished project, or a person not yet polished or complete. So you are susceptible to others who seem to have something you don't--a gift or social skill or smoothness, which you might yield to willingly, with uncertain or peculiar results.

6 Resolution: Caring about people is hard when they seem uncaring, but you might extend yourself to comprehend what is eating at them or why they seem unfriendly or remote. Perhaps they feel restrained as you do, victims in some way, wanting to assert themselves, feeling no one nurtures their true individuality.

7 Essence: It's not necessary for people to be gushing over one another to be happy. There is such a thing as modesty and even bashfulness as a wholesome retreat from unseemly interaction. You have a delicate side which is not unaffectionate but prefers to express affection not in fervent emotion but simple courtesy of a reserved sort.

~Learners in the Kingdom of Heaven~

There is so much to say. First, here is what I just posted in the cosmic-connexion Yahoo group (which gets the same forecast you see here every day) about the new (so far unnamed) prince:

Thanks, Paula. I did not want to get caught up in the euphoria--not every newborn child has a "nice" horoscope or an easy one. One hard thing for an astrologer to do is point out to parents the kinds of problems their child may face. But maybe I did get caught up in the "new child" euphoria, or for other reasons in my haste to comment I failed to notice that the new prince has a T square not only with Uranus but one with Saturn at point focus, with the sun and moon as the two "ends" of the T square. This is not easy. Mary Baker Eddy had the square of the sun and Saturn, however, and she handled it manfully--womanfully--by denying that any material limitations can hinder us. It takes that kind of attitude to deal with this difficult aspect, and in the prince's case the moon also is involved. So his life is not quite as "charmed" as I had originally thought. Nor am I sure that a "charmed" life is what would be best for the world--the world needs work and the Royals have, by their position in the public eye, a chance to shape public attitudes and actions in a better direction. So one might ask, how could one who never suffers, who lives a "charmed life," realize the suffering of the world and take steps to ameliorate it? It looks as if Destiny, or G*d, has given the prince a "cross to bear" as well as a "charmed life." It must not be easy to live one's whole life in the public eye--but that is of course his destiny so we will all be watching, including this astrologer. "The king of the fairies approaching his domain" as the Sabian Symbol for his ascendant is amazing. It is the only symbol of the 360 which mentions a king.

The sun is squaring Saturn now also for all of us, and this makes for choices. It can be depressing. It can be "look at all I am up against." That is how I feel. I felt last night that I wanted to make these forecasts available only on a private mailing list. Everybody who wants them would have to make a comment or else just say "Yes I want to continue" once a month in order to stay on the list. I am very tired of writing for phantoms or zombies who never say a word, lurking around somewhere, never saying "Thank you" or "I read the reports and find them interesting" or even "I think these forecasts suck but I read them out of some perverse fascination." Anything would be better than no communication whatever. At first I thought (fourteen years ago when I started doing these daily reports) that some of the readers (not all) would be astrological students who would write regularly to the group sharing their insights, agreeing or disagreeing with things I said, discussing the daily aspects so we could all try to understand how they work better. Alas, that has not happened at all, at all, at all. I get very nice comments from a very few of you and that keeps me going. Thank you! But I don't get the detailed feedback I had been looking for.

Sun square Saturn, also in your life, means "keeping on keeping on" when you are disappointed. In this case, fourteen years of disappointment.

I am not sure if I will write regular forecasts for Wednesday and Thursday. It is early in the day on Tuesday and I am depressed by the almost total non-reaction to my struggle to impart something about the new prince's chart. Millions of tweets, news reports, blogs, about the new prince, and only one astrologer (so far as I know), yours truly, who wrote something carefully about the new prince's horoscope, spending hours on it, and nobody cared. These reports go out to Twitter where I have more than a hundred followers. Nobody replied or said thank you or how interesting or maybe you are wrong or anything at all. Very very very depressing.

What is depressing in your own life with the sun now square Saturn? What do you not want to keep doing which you know you ought to keep doing? It tends to be a crucial time; it happens four times a year (including the opposition and conjunction).

Maybe because both the sun and moon were squared Saturn yesterday afternoon-evening when I posted all that information and insight about the new prince's horoscope, everybody was depressed and feeling "Why the hell should I care about some baby in London when I am facing x, y, and z?" Well, if that was what was happening, what can I say? It is perplexing.

Maybe you should read Chapter 13 of the Gospel of Matthew. It includes: "The disciples went up to him and asked,'Why do you speak to them in parables?' He replied, 'It has been granted to you to know the secrets of the kingdom of Heaven; but to those others it has not been granted. . . . They look without seeing, and listen without hearing or understanding. There is a prophecy of Isaiah which is being fulfilled for them: "You may hear and hear, but you will never understand; you may look and look, but you will never see. For this people's mind has become gross; their ears are dulled, and their eyes are closed. Otherwise their eyes might see, their ears hear, and their mind understand, and then they might turn again, and I would heal them."'"

Of course Cosmic Piper is not claiming to be a perfect oracle. From the beginning he has proclaimed this work as experimental, but he has labored to improve and perfect it and still labors to correct, improve, and perfect. That is worth something, I hope. It is all I know how to do. So those of you who struggle also to understand or use, somehow, what I struggle to say are vastly appreciated.

Matthew 13:35:
'I will open my mouth in parables;
I will utter things kept secret since the world was made.'

Psalm 39:5-7:
'Man, though he stands upright, is but a puff of wind,
he moves like a phantom;
the gains he piles up are no more than vapor,
he does not know who will enjoy them.
And now, Lord, what do I wait for?
My hope is in thee.'

Matthew 13:51-52:
'"Have you understood all this?" he asked; and they answered, "Yes." He said to them, 'When, therefore, a teacher of the law has become a learner in the kingdom of Heaven, he is like a householder who can produce from his treasure both the new and the old."'

The kingdom of Heaven is, among other things, the kingdom of sacred astrology. The "teachers of the law" have not yet become learners in it. It is not the kingdom of Elizabeth, Charles, William, or an unnamed child. Yet only a child, said Jesus, can enter it.

~Feudin' and a-Fussin'~

The long-term patterns the planets form in space around our planet were put into seven classifications or "temperament types" by Marc Edmund Jones. I believe I have discovered an eighth--I have been studying it for several years and feel more and more confident that it is real. I call it the "vise" pattern (not vice)--it is a chart which has one empty square, the other ten planets close enough to one another so that no one of them is further away than a sextile with a 15-degree orb. The empty square has also a 15-degree orb. One uses larger orbs for these patterns in space than one would use for the sharpest aspects within a horoscope (ten degrees according to Ptolemy and Jones).

And right now the planets are in a "vise" pattern, the determining square being that between Uranus and Jupiter. It will be with us perhaps for another three months, into October, although I have not studied that in detail, but it is certainly there now and will be for weeks to come. The only times it will disappear will be when the moon on its monthly course enters into the empty square. That will be in a few days when it is in the second half of Aries, Taurus, and Gemini. Then we will have a "splash" type of chart; then again on August 3 the vise.

This particular vise formation with Jupiter and Uranus as the two sides of the vise which clench us is fascinating. I think if we try to understand it we will get a huge grip on things which the non-astrological world does not have. "There is a prophecy of Isaiah which is being fulfilled for them: 'You will hear and hear, but you will never understand . . . '"

Jupiter is the planet of ideas, of religion and philosophy, of idealism. Uranus rules innovation, newness, radicality, radicalness or radicalism, whatever is shocking or disturbing although not necessarily wrong. So this square has a great deal to do with politics and religion and advocacy and agitation and strong opinions which clash with other strong opinions. Now do you see perhaps what was pushing at me in yesterday's "forecast" which was more a statement of my position? Uranus is the planet of independence and freedom and "Yes I am right, by golly!"

Since we are going to be in the grip of this vise for the rest of the summer, except for a few days each month (maybe I will point them out as we go along if that seems useful), it seems highly important to get a grip on that vise before it does something to us we don't want. Here goes.

I am going to quote shamelessly from other astrologers, two of the best who have written excellent books. First, Robert de Luce, on Jupiter square Uranus: "Unfavorable period of life for dealing with people of the learned professions. . . . It is an unfavorable time in life to promote or develop inventions, discoveries or original methods or processes." Note how I was complaining that my astrological discoveries and original methods are not getting sufficient support or notice. "It is well to avoid espousing or entangling oneself with reform movements or reformers, because the native may easily become fanatical, bigoted or over-zealous." I leave it to you to judge if Cosmic Piper is over-zealous! But this statement of Mr. DeLuce has special relevance for me, because on Sunday I attended a church I had never visited before, and the whole worship service and the sermon were to me "fanatical, bigoted, or over-zealous" in a political sense. The service was geared toward activism. Now the purpose and cause of the activism may have been just fine, but the way in which it was presented seemed to me "over-zealous." Also, perhaps, bigoted, although purportedly it was directed against bigotry. So we have the situation: "You are a bigot!" "No, you are the bigot!" and so on. We had this of course with the Zimmerman trial and that has not faded away. We have it with many other issues including gay-straight, and on and on. The sermon Sunday was directed toward rights for fat people, or the obese, and while that is fine with me, it seemed to me that the tone of it was "fanatical and overzealous, maybe even bigoted" as Mr. DeLuce pointed out in his book written decades ago.

Now, quite interestingly, I am considering going to a "pub theology" group that same church is having tonight. I can imagine what will happen. "What do you do?" "I am Cosmic Piper." "Who is that?" "An astrologer and a prophet." "Is it profitable?" And so on. "I am a Christian astrologer." "There is no such thing." And on and on. Do I look forward to this? Am I really going tonight? I am not sure. The moon is and will be void-of-course. It could be a stunning pointless argument or a pub brawl.

Now from dear Isabel Hickey (her book Astrology, a Cosmic Science): "Jupiter square Uranus: Conflict between the 'status quo' and the desire for freedom and independence. Apt to be strong-willed. Judgment not always sound. Has the same liberal and religious outlook as the trine and conjunction but is more direct, forceful and expressive in promulgating their ideas. Needs to cultivate patience and forethought, for their reflexes are fast and their minds keen. Are apt to be impatient and irritable with the slower thinking individual. Needs to use discrimination where choice of friends are concerned. . . . "  Indeed! In a broad way, Uranus is a planet of friends, ruling Aquarius, the natural 11th house, and when square Jupiter, ruling the 9th house, the friends have a lot of religious or philosophic or political issues to face or to fight out.

Sound like fun for the summer? Well, there must be ways to deal with this more fruitfully, and let's look at those. Ideas are welcome. The whole purpose of these reports is to help us deal with what otherwise we would be helpless floundering around in. Meanwhile, I myself feel better already because I sense now what is going on and realize I need to "tone it down" or "cool it" a little more when dealing with "hot issues" or "button issues" which set people off.

On Thursday the moon is void-of-course from the time given above, most of the day, so let us be calm and patient. Also the sun's square with Saturn is increasing. This can be severe challenge sometimes, or a feeling that one has failed, does not want to fail, and for sure is going to try not to fail again, come what may . . . that is, for the stalwart, of whom certainly you are one!

Or not, friend in controversy . . .

The Newborn Prince

Here is what I just posted on Shawn Collins's Astro-Alchemy page on Facebook, where Shawn posted the horoscope of the just-born Prince:

It's good to see this. The first thing I surmise is, No big surprises, a Royal who knows where his bread is buttered and will be conservative in preserving his prerogatives, with the fortunate (but sometimes lazy) grand trine, and with Pluto ruling the ascendant in the 2nd of money, and the planets in the 8th indicating his inherited endowment. There is also the fortunate increasing sextile of Venus with both Jupiter and Mars, very sweet. What would make for more fire? The T square focused on Uranus in Aries in the 4th. Some desire to shake up or challenge his foundations, perhaps, but in a small way--some originality within the royal established framework. But the Cancer-Capricorn opposition and the stellium in Cancer suggest that the framework is very solid for him. Cushy, comfortable. A very fortunate chart. With the focus on Uranus in the 4th (homes) and the Cancer stellium, he may be interested in architecture, as is his grandfather Charles.

Well, we occultists might want to believe that he could be interested in psychic phenomena and spiritualism or something along that line, with the big emphasis in the 8th house (death) as part of a wonderful grand trine including Neptune in Pisces. The generation born with Neptune in Pisces 150 years ago and more was very interested in spiritualism. It included Sri Arthur Conan Doyle.

Let me add that I almost forecast the birth of the Prince! Here is the first paragraph of the forecast for Monday: "1 Stage: Spiritual seekers are babes in the woods, it seems, like St. John the Baptist, or an Indian yogi wandering in a loin-cloth. Yet they can move the world as did John, as do yogis appealed to by the populace for healing, solace and guidance. The fact that they are not understood does not hinder them from helping."  It is hardly insignificant that on the "stage" for the day I put "a babe in the woods"! I am deeply convinced that the daily forecasts say much more than people generally recognize when they read them hastily. To "get" what they can communicate one has to read them also at the end of the day.

Paragraph 7 of the forecast mentions people celebrating festively: "Then there is the fairy or angelic kingdom within humanity, which comes out in festivals, parties, and get-togethers where all feel happy to display themselves in a colorful way, costumed or not. Some of all this is in the air despite the |difficult third of the week|, so we may be heartened and lifted on invisible wings."

Indeed, the denizens of the land of Albion must be celebrating even now the birth of a fairy or angel child, as if lifted on invisible wings.

P. S.  And now I have to eat just a little crow . . . I stand by what I said above except for the T square part. There is no T square with Uranus. I was reading Shawn's chart erroneously . . . I saw the moon as at 17Capricorn28 instead of at 28Capricorn17. My apologies. The grand trine, the sextile among Mars, Jupiter and Venus, and all the rest is accurate, except for the T square part. Uranus is indeed in the 4th but lacking the T square I would not say that the new Prince has much of a "shake-up" potential in him.  LATER: No I do not need to eat any crow! There is indeed a T square with Uranus at focus, but involving Pluto rather than the moon. So my "eating a little crow" was premature. I am not going to digest it.

P. P. S. He has such a fortunate chart that his life is pretty much his to handle however he wishes. It might be interesting to see if the "occult potentials" I mentioned come out. I could visualize him as very interested in his ancestry (Cancer planets in the 8th house) and wanting to establish some kind of spiritual communication with them. That could take a large variety of forms. We shall see.

P. P. P. S.  To consolidate further the validity of my forecast for Monday, written and posted Sunday before anybody knew the new Prince would be born, and which I titled "Consorting with Fairies or Angels?" on the Facebook links, I find that the exact rising degree of the Prince is 27 Scorpio, symbolized by the Sabian symbol "The king of the fairies approaching his domain." Is the still unnamed prince going to turn the Land of Albion into the Land of Faerie?
