}Traversing a Labyrinth Toward Peace{

Moon in Libra
|Karmically difficult third| of this week continues until Sunday afternoon
Full Moon of Aries-Libra at 5:38a PT | 8:38a ET | 12:38p UT
< moon enters the Via Combusta at 1:07p PT | 4:07p ET | 9:07p UT

A labyrinth.   Eccentric in conduct. Has a way and will of his own. Will find his way if permitted to do so, but may collide with the ruling power of this world as it is. He will not prosper in the world by following his own way.   c

A man sowing in the wind. May use faculties to little advantage.  Dissipation.  b

A man desponding, standing on a barren plain with leaden colored clouds overhead.   Gloomy and monotonous; uneventful. Poor in worldly substance.   c

A clear mountain stream.   Resourcefulness.   s

A woman of pleasant face, neatly attired, stands holding a sword, whose point is earthward. Her head is kissed by the meridian Sun, her face is towards the north.  Disputative mind, with many enemies, needing to exercise herself in self-defense. Strife, but native force and diplomacy will eventually prevail.   Self-Preservation.   b

A man leading two children by the hands.   A sociable and bountiful nature. Strong domestic instincts. Delights in family relations; proud to be householder and husband. Conservatism.   b

Birds in the house singing happily.   Establishment.   s

}Up the Hill of Hope{

Moon in Libra-->Scorpio
|Karmically difficult third| of this week ends at 4:59a PT | 7:59a ET | 11:59a UT
> moon is in the Via Combusta (until late Monday afternoon)
/moon goes void-of-course at 11:30a PT | 2:30p ET | 6:30p UT
until it enters Scorpio at 3:58p PT | 6:58p ET | 10:58p UT

A man climbing a steep hill, a road consisting of steps; an angel form at the top giving words of cheer with a golden crown awaiting him.   One inspired to pursue an object worthy of his ambition. Will labor hard and suffer much to fulfill his mission.  c

An angel carrying a harp.   Attunement.   s

A man sowing in the wind. May use faculties to little advantage.   Dissipation.   b

An inverted triangle immersed in a dark fog; slowly this fog clears away, and the triangle becomes a bright blue, embedded in gold.  It seems the psychic nature is more open to outside influence than the ordinary, so malignant powers rush in to eclipse the person of genius.  Heart-rending trials, followed by success.   c

A man at the summit of a mountain, illumined by the setting sun; holding a staff in his right hand, in his left a crown.  Through suffering and hard work will attain to dignity and prominence.  Reward.  b

Steps up to a lawn blooming with clover.   Hopefulness.   s

A woman is gathering grapes, with which she fills many baskets.  Reaping benefits from old age, pleasures from maturity. Acquisitiveness. Designs meet with success.   Gathering Together.   b

This is a fortifying, optimistic, strengthening picture for Easter.

}Cautious Stepping Out from Loneliness{

Moon in Virgo-->Libra
|Karmically difficult third| of this week is with us again, until Sunday morning
/moon goes void-of-course at [10:00p PT Thursday] 1:00a ET | 5:00a UT
until it enters Libra at 10:53a PT | 1:53p ET | 5:53p UT

It's the |difficult third|, plus a lot of void-of-course earlier in the day, plus Mercury Retrograde (until April 15), and it is also, appropriately, the day of the commemoration of the heinous crucifixion of Jesus Christ the Saviour. Not a party day. Many will be pleased just to be able to begin weekend recuperation.

However, Venus is beginning her trine with Mars, always a good period for relationships or friendships, and that can be in the background ameliorating other problematic conditions. It becomes exact on April 10th-11th and lasts by an eight-degree orb until April 22nd.  Somebody likes you.

A man desponding, standing on a barren plain with leaden colored clouds overhead.   Gloomy and monotonous; uneventful. Poor in worldly substance.   c

A horseman, armed as if for battle, is watching the waning moon.   Independent and domineering nature, forsaken by friends and colleagues on that account. Hurt by a female. Serving himself alone, he does not receive assistance. "The dog and his bone are best left alone."   Isolation.   b

A man sowing in the wind. May use faculties to little advantage.   Dissipation.   b

A man with a large telescope, which he employs chiefly in looking at things in his immediate surroundings, and what lies on the earth. The most remarkable thing, is that he is looking in at the large end of the instrument.   An egotist, boaster, traducer and slanderer. He will not utter a good word for anyone, and never acknowledge merit. There is no one so great as himself.   c

A duck pond and its brood.   Reliability.   s

A woman sitting in a chair as if conversing with someone. Her hands are folded lightly upon her lap, her face has a pleasant, smiling expression. She is loosely habited in a Grecian robe, her neck and arms are bare.   Easy manner, kind and accessible to all. Never cruel or harsh. Impulsive in passion yet gentle in manner. Lover of peace and harmony. Many friends.  Luxury.   b

Birds in the house singing happily.   Establishment.   s

\Visions Facilitate Patient Activity/

Moon in Virgo
[/moon goes void-of-course in the Pacific zone at 10:00p]

A maze.  Fond of enigmas. Profitless researches. Carried away by foolish whims, yet greatly ingenious.   c

The moon in her first quarter.  Fond of change; a speculator. Too sanguine in expectation, but mostly fortunate.  c

A man on horseback standing alone in the middle of a battlefield where around him lie the dead and dying. Unique career noted for daring and hazardous exploits. Success and prestige.  Victory.   b

A large glass ball, or globe. It is capable of receiving the images of the stars in space, as well as reflecting the panorama of the earth.  A mind open to receive truth. Reflects truth in his or her daily life. Just and honorable.   c

A veiled prophet of power.   Supremacy.   s

A man of humble appearance, but much strength, felling a tree with an ax.  Practical, aggressive, sometimes destructive. Finds success in simple persistent effort. Contends against obstacles, cuts out own part in life.  Labor.   b

A celestial choir singing.   Veneration.   s

The man cutting out his own way in life is well representative of the current squares between the sun in Aries and Mars-Saturn together in Capricorn. Luna in Virgo also helps keep a practical focus.

Victory on the battlefield, amid those dying, fits Jupiter's year-long position in Scorpio, correlating to the battle over gun control for example and other conflicts kept simmering on the world stage. (Jupiter goes into Sagittarius, his own happy though zealous sign, in November.)

The maze, the veiled prophet, and the globe reflecting the stars and the earth, suggest occult knowledge or supersensuous intuitions, the panorama of life viewed almost timelessly, or with a comprisement of the past with the present pointing to a possible happy future.  We are able to do that sort of thing very well during a Dark Hermetic Epoch, either in our dreams or consciously in daydreams or visionary musings. Let us be sure to keep them positive; or, when the negative appears, to refute it with the knowledge that it does not have to be an evil portent but an indication of what could go wrong if we failed to keep ourselves in a positive-faith mode.

So, in that mode, we can remember the Highest with veneration, appreciating what we have experienced and still experience of the Good.

\Through or Out of the Maze/

Moon in Leo-->Virgo
/moon goes void-of-course at 2:55a PT | 5:55a ET | 9:55a UT
until it enters Virgo at 7:31a PT | 10:31a ET | 2:31p UT

The progress of things often seems not only slow but supernaturally frustrated or interfered-with during a Mercury Retrograde period (until April 15th) or, to a lesser degree, a Dark Hemetic Epoch (until May 3). So we need to take that into account rather than feel that we are total failures or that nothing will ever go right again. Those feelings are a cause of suicides, resignations, and divorces during these periods, so we have to be on guard against them. The old-fashioned cure is faith plus patience. What you have undertaken to do is probably still worth doing, though it need review, modification, backtracking and patient reworking. The cure it not to stop doing it but to do it more slowly and thoughtfully, with extra breaks when needed.

All that advice is repeated today because the squares of the sun to both Saturn and Mars, in the difficult and demanding sign Capricorn, make things even harder, most likely. Hope and fortitude are the cure for weariness.

Younger people and your relations with them also require patience while they go through necessary developments.

A man standing upon a lofty place with arms folded and head erect. Great courage and self-confidence. Able friend and formidable enemy. Cool and collected. Loves freedom, despises assistance. Pride.  b

The moon in her first quarter.  Fond of change; a speculator. Too sanguine in expectation, but mostly fortunate.  c

A maze.  Fond of enigmas. Profitless researches. Carried away by foolish whims, yet greatly ingenious.  c

A large disappointed audience.  Disjunction.  s

A straight road, going in a direct line up to a point from which lead a number of branch roads, parting in four different directions. A finger-post points but one way--the primal one, the direct one.  Will miss his way in life, but eventually recover, and become a teacher or reformer, public speaker or writer.  c

A veiled prophet of power.  Supremacy.  s

A fair woman, richly attired, stands alone.  A rich and beneficent nature. By goodness of heart attracts friends and gains attention. Success through a woman. Love of luxury and praise, but generous and gifted.  Favor.  b

The profitless maze is something anyone can get stuck in during a DHE.  We don't realize it until we have spent hours in it.  Then we have disappointed others and ourselves. As our own audience, we are not sure when to applaud. We try various changes but may feel that luck determines the outcome.

Yet we can be "prophets of power," supreme within some internal domain where we are learning how to demonstrate that supremacy outwardly.  That depends on choosing the best road, not the "other three" which would need more profitless backtracking.

Always there is ameliorating divine grace, represented by the beautiful woman who is favored and grants favors.

^Equipped for Slow Attainment^

Moon in Leo

A butcher clothed in his working dress conducting a sheep into the slaughter-house.  Dangerous proclivities. Selfish, crafty and cruel.  c

A bunny metamorphosed into a fairy.  Transition.  s

A dark archway and ten logs at the bottom.  Thoroughness.  s

A man surrounded by others seeking a quarrel.  Quick to anger, or to disturb the peace of others. Rash and Impetuous.  b

A large hat with streamers flying, facing east.  Excitation.  s

A kingly person presenting a sceptre to one kneeling.  By merits, or the influence of those in power, will rise above birth-level. Merit allied to ambition. Attains great things, with assistance.  Attainment.  b

A man possessed of more gifts than he can hold.  Equipment.  s

Is the butcher more selfish, crafty and cruel than those who employ him, namely, all who eat the corpses of animals?  Humane slaughter, and especially humane raising of food-animals free from restraint, pain, and suffering, often equivalent to torture, is not a priority anywhere. It virtually does not exist. The family farm with happy animals in the barnyard is a thing of the past. Animals are treated by the factory farms as if they were unfeeling vegetables. They are not.

We can be thorough in recognizing and dealing with all the factors we need, the "ten logs," in order to get things done, even though we remain in a Dark Hermetic Epoch (until May 3) which slows us down with multiple interruptions and side tracks.

Mars and Saturn both in Capricorn now square the sun and Mercury in Aries fit with the man surrounded by those seeking a quarrel. Good old Mars, in his sign of exaltation. Our President has Mars rising (that is, within a few degrees of his
ascendant) and so we are well aware of the quarrels he seeks, as are his staff.

The excitation of the "streamers" could be beneficent in some ways, with Luna trine Mercury, Venus and Uranus especially later in the afternoon and evening. This might be mildly erotic, not without its dangers.

In any DHE we are aware of the gifts we have had since childhood, and the resources and potentials we have now, yet feel that the way to employ them wisely is either blocked or delayed. So again we have to buck up our patience. Maybe someone, somewhere, the "kingly person," will give us a hand up.

Moon in Cancer-->Leo
/moon goes void-of-course at [11:59p Sunday PT] 2:59a ET | 6:59a UT
until it enters Leo at 4:46a PT | 7:46a ET | 11:46a UT

I'm writing on Sunday and the amazing march-demonstration of Saturday is still fresh in my mind. It is a good example of a good way to use a |kamically difficult third| period, which encompassed both Saturday and Sunday. Karma? Yes, the heavy karma of guns. These "kids" or very mature kids or seemingly young and strong adults handled all that with perfect composure. It was quite a test, being also during a Dark Hermetic Epoch. But that was appropriate, because in those periods--in fact it is the Mercury Retrograde period now, or center of the DHE--we review and revise our approach to things, look at the past and reconsider it and how to live up to our ideals and correct the past in the present. Which was precisely what they were doing.

Two of the symbols given here for Saturday were:

A person climbing a rock in the midst of a fierce storm. Flashes of lightning reveal the figure in dark outline. It appears strong and climbs well.  Force of character. Efforts finally crowned with a position of security and comfort, after passing through perilous adventures.  Uncertainty, Peril, and Final Success.  b
Indians rowing a canoe and dancing a war dance.  Mobilization.  s

These could hardly have been more accurate.

The |difficult third| was evident in the somber mood, which of course was totally appropriate. I am sure that after the rally some had a social time, but I would guess it was imbued with a serious, reflective, sober quality. They met this period manfully and womanfully! Kudos to them.

Monday looks lighter, with a sense of growing optimism plus confident competence.  Especially by afternoon and evening, when the Part of Fortune enters the 5th sector, there should be a spirit of cheer, even fun.

A fox running along a path beneath the shadow of a wall.  Wily, prudent, cunning. Diplomatic. Self-defense without violence. In extremities, a clever ruse or presence of mind liberates.  Caution.  b

A butcher clothed in his working dress conducting a sheep into the slaughter-house.  Dangerous proclivities. Selfish, crafty and cruel.  c

A bunny metamorphosed into a fairy.  Transition.  s

A dark archway and ten logs at the bottom.  Thoroughness.  s

A large forest of big oaks; no underwood; all is clear beneath; hence a spacious vista presents itself, affording plenty of scope for wandering.  A lover of rural life, opposed to change or "reform." Will prosper if allowed to go in his own groove. His chief amusement is the chase.  c

A man of powerful form riding upon a restive horse whose mouth is curbed.  Maintains dignity and position by means of natural powers. Will have his own way; sometimes tyrannous and unjust. Will brook no opposition.  Dominion.  b

A double promise.  Sensibility.  s

Some of the symbols seem somewhat cruel, but we can transform them into self-control. The fox's caution is perhaps implicit in us.  The animal figures symbolize things in ourselves at the animal level we need to get under our control. That does not involve cruelty, not even to ourselves. Then, when we are functioning effectively, we can "have our own way" and arrive at thorough dominion over things we had been struggling against. "The chase" (not chasing helpless animals but something which benefits us) and the "double promise" can be our gladness when we have triumphed over obstacles.

Formidable Generation

Formidable Generation

I just watched, live, the rally in Washington DC of thousands of young people, a large number of them high school students. Many from Parkland, Florida and from Sandy Hook, Connecticut were organizers and speakers. Very effective speakers! I was overwhelmed.

I was impressed by their strength, fortitude, insistence on the fact that they were right and were going to demand change. Very strong and impressive, no dilly-dallying or second thoughts. "We know what we believe and what we want, and we are right, and we are going to make it happen!"

So of course I had to look to see where the outer planets were when these "kids" (I don't like to call them that, they are so adult-seeming) were born.

Assuming that most high school students now are between 14 and 19 years old (maybe 15-18 more precisely), they were all born when Pluto was in Sagittarius. That is very interesting because I saw, as a very young astrology student, that the place of Pluto seemed to mark off the generations. When the psychedelic-era Pluto-in-Leo generation came up with the motto "Don't trust anyone over 30" they were saying, exactly, "Don't trust anyone born in the earlier Pluto-in-Cancer generation." And they had good reason for that, because there was a stark difference between the two.

I have tried to follow the trends of each generation:  Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and now Sagittarius. The Pluto-in-Scorpio generation is responsible for a lot of popular culture centered around death, vampires, werewolves, zombies, and various forms of torturous violence. All that stuff has been incredibly popular during that generation's period of dominance through their entertainment choices.

So I have been wondering what the Pluto-in-Sagittarius generation would bring us. In music, I have not noticed a strong trend yet. One would expect Sagittarius music to be more friendly, easygoing, bouncy, rather than the intense, deep, sometimes morose music of Pluto-in-Scorpio. (Frank Sinatra was Sagittarius!) A cynic would say, more superficial, but it seems there might be room for optimism after the seeming pessimism of Pluto-in-Scorpio. (I say "seeming" because most of these individuals have good hearts and when you get to know them their morbid side is just an affectation or taste or mode, not their essence. And I have gotten to feel some of their music very deeply.)

One would expect a Pluto-in-Sagittarius generation to be friendly (common sign ruled by Jupiter), confident (fire sign) and likely to break down barriers in a simple way. Marc Edmund Jones the astrologer said that Sagittarians often manifest the friendliness of a puppy.

It ids also an idealistic sign, and not afraid, as Scorpio is, to broadcast its hopes and ideals. Scorpio feels that such effusive hopefulness is sappy and not realistic. Not cool. Sagittarius feels that it wants to follow heart and hope openly, unashamedly, wherever they lead.  Not cool? Okay, then be warm.

But there is much more to the generation which took the stage at this amazing rally demanding change from politicians.

That "more" is the sign Aquarius. From 1999 through 2002, when most were born, both Uranus and Neptune were in Aquarius. (In 2003 Uranus entered Pisces, and that would be effective for those now 14 or [sometimes] 15 years old, probably not the students who were on the stage today.)

Both Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius means a lot. First, Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius. Do you want to look for "the age of Aquarius"? Then look at these young people, perhaps those born from 1996 through 2002 (currently ages 15 or 16 through 21 or 22). Something very strong is happening with them.

I saw it in their faces and in their stances. There is something "square" about the Aquarian face. You will see it in well-known Aquarians whether male or female. It is not unattractive but looks solid and immutable (a fixed sign). It is a manifestation of the fact that they know what they are about and so are not going to change. Those "kids" today were not going to change for the "powers that be," but rather demand change from them.

You saw it also in their stances, the way they walk, move, take the stage, and stand together. There is nothing soft or wishy-washy about the way they move. "I am here for a reason and I am going to state or express that reason and nobody is going to affect my stance." That is what is conveyed by their bodies' language.

Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, is Independence (its Sabian keyword) and yet Uranus is a friendly and communal planet. Its communalism is not sappy or sentimental but mutually respectful. It is impersonal, in a way, yet upholds the right of each person to be himself or herself. If you don't "get" what I'm saying, you would get it if you were conscious of living and working with a variety of individuals with the sun, moon, or ascendant in Aquarius, or a group of planets in it, such as this current four-year set of high school students who have both Neptune and Uranus there. You "get it" by living with it, observing it, and working with it. (I myself have nothing in Aquarius so I have had to learn this through a lot of experiences with highly valued Aquarian individuals over the course of my life.) Aquarius is a tough sign, ruled by both Saturn and Uranus. Its friendliness is not a friendliness that lets you be weak, but a friendliness that buoys you up or perks you up or insists that you can be stronger. It challenges, usually (but not always) without hurting.

This group's bold way of challenging their elders, and asking them to wake up, is highly reminiscent of the attitude of then-young people in the 1960s, the Pluto-in-Leo generation. Well, Sagittarius is the next fire sign in the zodiac after Leo, and so it is not surprising that this current high- school-and-college generation would have something in common with those who are now called (rather garishly) "baby boomers."  Fire is self-sure. It is as if it were the sun or a star, shining by its own light, not by someone else's fuel. So the confidence of this generation (born 1996 through 2008 [with some exceptions in 2008 when Pluto went retrograde] and so now approximately 11 through 21 years of age) is similar to that of the "baby boomers." We may expect interesting innovations and progressive changes as they mature and take power.

The current high-schoolers (with Neptune and Uranus in Aquarius as well as Pluto in Sagittarius) are a smaller sub-set and, as I saw them in action today, seem to be a real cutting edge. A later (and so now younger) group was born with Uranus in Pisces (2003 through 2008, and so now about 9 through 14 years old). They may have a softer or more accommodating style, yet still very effective because they have Neptune in Aquarius.

Welcome to (finally?) the Aquarian Age? Mixed with beneficent Sagittarius.

Moon in Cancer
|Karmically difficult third| of this week continues (through Sunday)

I don't pretend to predict weather, which naturally varies over the globe, yet it seems that the "atmosphere" is at least mentally chilly, even "frozen" while the musical of that name takes over Broadway.

It all seems tough as brickbat, coinciding with the Washington appointments of Pompeo and Bolton to head important government positions. One of the symbols for Thursday, when Bolton was appointed by Trump, was  A man rushing along on horseback, sword in hand, to meet a company of armed men.  Violent and fearless. Trouble through rash acts.  c   This is exactly the image of Bolton we get from accounts of his past and his hard-nosed hawk positions on matters international and military.

A large iron cross lying on the ground. All looks dark, sad, and gloomy. There is perfect stillness; not a ruffle nor sound of any kind.  Suffering, gloom, darkness.   c

A man sowing in the wind. May use faculties to little advantage.  Dissipation.  b

Indians rowing a canoe and dancing a war dance.  Mobilization.  s

A person climbing a rock in the midst of a fierce storm. Flashes of lightning reveal the figure in dark outline. It appears strong and climbs well.  Force of character. Efforts finally crowned with a position of security and comfort, after passing through perilous adventures.  Uncertainty, Peril, and Final Success.  b

A man standing with a tankard in his hand ready to drink. Two others standing apart, talking together, with averted faces.  Evil habits through low associations. May suffer through envy and intrigue of comrades, and drift with the stream into unpremeditated evil.  Weakness.  b

A very small unpretentious window in the wall of a massive tower.  Abundant native powers and mental resources. Independent of external aids; happy amid offspring of his own genius. Creator, not imitator.  c

A woman in pastel colors carrying a heavy and valuable but veiled load.  Reticence.  s

These seem to fit with the |difficult third| of the week. We feel weak, perhaps, or lost, or ashamed. Yet we can climb through "peril" to "final success." The creative person living in the turret tower, and the maybe pregnant, reticent woman,  have found some internal secret they cannot share outwardly except through being who they are.
