^Contented Responsibility as Happiness^

[A special report on "Are the Symbols Real?" was posted just before this one.]
Moon in Scorpio-->Sagittarius
/moon is void-of-course
until it enters Sagittarius at 8:21a PT | 11:21a ET | 3:21p UT

A man struggling in a lake; only the head out; sometimes the head appears to sink under, but it rises again and again until at last a lifebuoy is thrown to him by a person witnessing his position; finally he is saved.   In trouble through debt; always involved, on the verge of bankruptcy; finally by some unexpected "god-send" he or she is delivered.   c

A quiver filled with arrows.   Preparation.   s

Two men fencing with swords.   A duelist, pugilist or gymnast; does not admit an equal; formidable kind of opponent.   c

A woman entering a convent.   Consecration.   s

The figure of a woman holding a globe in one hand and a scepter in the other.   Wide knowledge and power; a position of importance; a mind fit for governing, and a position of security after middle life. Some pride and self-love, but dignity, conscientiousness, and self-reliance.   Dominion.   b

A fork, resembling a farmyard implement, with four prongs.   Laborious, unambitious person, a useful member of society, content with his present lot.   c

A flower of a bright orange tint, upon which two butterflies are resting and fanning their wings.   A sympathetic and graceful nature, ready to please others. Anxious of recognition and affection. Desires concord. Delights in associating with those similar to itself. Hopeful and happy nature upon which the heavens will smile.  Reciprocity.   b

The "preparation" symbol, the quiver of arrows, fits with factors in the daily chart suggesting the renaissance of career motives and ideas. We were rescued from the lake yesterday, and so shall be today if we fall in again. The dueling signifies being up and randy for the adventure of life. The fellow duelist may be a playfellow. The dedicated woman who entered a convent has become a matriarch of dominion, holding a globe and scepter, governing others. Some are content to be governed, or to do just their daily work, as the laborious farm worker. That is a good path of contentment, is it not? Two of these characters, or any others, may rest upon the "orange flower" as incipient butterflies. They find reciprocity through each other, delighting in concord, and the heavens smile upon their happiness.

The symbols and their interpretation are intended to apply basically during the hours from dawn to midnight. Often a planet will move from one degree to another during the day, so I use a time near mid-afternoon for all of them, so that they shall be exactly right during most, often all, of the daylight hours. The period from midnight to dawn could partake of the nature of either day or both.

Are the Symbols Real?

Are the Daily Symbols Real?

We have been listing these daily symbols for quite a few months. I know that one person at least  besides myself is finding them extremely interesting and helpful. I realize that there are times when one may wonder what they "mean" or if they are really applicable to one's situation. I recommend pondering them again at the end of the day, or even the next day, to see how they in fact may have panned out in your experience. Understanding the past is key to a better future.

I read today in the New York Times of the historic meeting of the leaders of North and South Korea last Friday. " At a historic summit meeting, the first time a North Korean leader had ever set foot in the South, the leaders vowed to negotiate a treaty to replace a truce that has kept an uneasy peace on the divided Korean Peninsula for more than six decades. "  It is inspiring to look at some of the photos of this historic occasion.

What were the symbols for Friday? Here are some of them, as posted here on Thursday the day before:

A general accepting defeat gracefully.   Expediency.   s

Two swords forming a cross lying on the ground, and a man standing on them with a sceptre pointing heavenward.   A person of peace who confides in the higher power.   c

A Sun that is rising upon the ocean waters.   Restlessness and travel for the sake of discovery. Elevation and coming honors. Changes and voyages in the direction of the Orient. Fortune and distinction.   Illumination.   b

A man dressed like a Minister of State, of venerable and kindly aspect.   Kind and noble. Occupies positions of trust. Rises to eminence in his sphere of work.   Dignity.   b

Holly and mistletoe.   Ritualization.   s

I left out just two of the symbols which seemed less relevant (though still applicable probably in hidden ways and to other situations on that day). These five seem to speak brilliantly and clearly of what happened between the two Koreas on Friday. Even the "mistletoe" symbol, a kiss between the leaders of the nations! That is really what it looked like, especially if you find the photo of the two of them holding hands and walking across the border between the two nations.

Am I saying that peace is here, all is well, there will be no nuclear weapons in the North, etc.? I do not make such predictions or promises, not regarding astrology as intended for that. But it provides wonderful illumination on what actually happens, as in the above symbols. Let us rejoice in that. I hope that if you are skeptical about the validity of the symbols you will continue to work with them, and play with them, until they start speaking some of their secrets.

Then today, Monday as I write, I am reading about the continuing strike of teachers in Arizona and Colorado. It is very impressive. These teachers are protesting against not only inadequate pay and working conditions but a lack of funding for their schools, their students, which means old falling-apart books and on and on. I for one feel that they are right and that their State legislatures are betraying them and the children in their states. Here are the first six symbols for Monday:

A man struggling in a lake; only the head out; sometimes the head appears to sink under, but it rises again and again until at last a lifebuoy is thrown to him by a person witnessing his position; finally he is saved.   In trouble through debt; always involved, on the verge of bankruptcy; finally by some unexpected "god-send" he or she is delivered.   c

A scrawl or flourish of the pen.   Disappointments through lack of judgment. Incapable of adapting himself to conditions required of him; anticipating what he cannot realize.   c

A house on fire at night-time.   Rash and warlike, inclined to destruction. Apt to stir up disputes among others and bring desolation upon himself through a false sense of security. Domestic life full of turmoil.   Strife.   b

An industrial strike.   Protest.   s

A woman drawing two dark curtains aside.   Daring.   s

A woman entering a convent.   Consecration.   s

The first symbol is obvious: The schools and students and teachers need help! The second is humorously suggestive of a student learning how to write (let's hope "cursive" is not cursed!). The "house on fire" symbol could be taken by opponents of the strike as the teachers "bringing desolation upon themselves" but I would take it rather as the State legislatures doing that "through a false sense of security," that is, not understanding how dire the situation of the schools and teachers really is. The "house on fire" symbol shows people needlessly divided to the point of self-hurt. The next gets it exactly, "An industrial strike. Protest." Could it be more accurate?

Notice the photos and you will see that most of the teachers demonstrating are women, and the last two symbols show "A woman drawing two dark curtains aside," in this case not as a seduction but as a revelation of the miserable state of the schools, and it took "Daring" to do that.  Finally the "woman entering a convent" shows that these strikers are consecrated, in a sense, to the cause of their pupils and very serious about it. I hope good answers will come for them.

Just some adventures with the daily symbols. I hope you are finding them interesting and useful in your own way.

~Through Struggle and Watchfulness to Self-Service or Consecration~

Moon in Scorpio

/moon goes void-of-course at 7:57p PT | 10:57p ET | 2:57a(Tu) UT

A man struggling in a lake; only the head out; sometimes the head appears to sink under, but it rises again and again until at last a lifebuoy is thrown to him by a person witnessing his position; finally he is saved.   In trouble through debt; always involved, on the verge of bankruptcy; finally by some unexpected "god-send" he or she is delivered.   c

An industrial strike.   Protest.   s

A woman drawing two dark curtains aside.   Daring.   s

A woman entering a convent.   Consecration.   s

A man seated on a throne, holding a sceptre, crowned, and with signs of wealth around him.   Eminence by means of care in affairs. If born poor will acquire wealth and fame.  Shrewdness, watchfulness.  Self-Service.   b

You can sense what the symbols are pointing to for yourself. One might say "They do not look good" but they do look adventurous!  The man about to drown is saved. The one who starts a fire is not, because he has to suffer what he has angrily begun. Perhaps he became "rash and warlike" as a compensation for his inability to adjust to requirements (the second symbol). The industrial strike is a more civilized, united way of protesting against what seems unfair and perhaps changing it. The daring woman drawing aside the curtains and the one entering a convent are utter opposites. Unless indeed, the nun is vigorously rejecting a prior life of sin. Finally the man rescued with the life-buoy is not drowned but crowned, becoming a king in the final symbol. He has acquired wealth and fame through a shrewdness and watchfulness he did not have until he learned.

This sequence of symbols may show what many of us have just gone through: a time of struggle during the Dark Hermetic Epoch, now calming down so that we can perceive and understand the lessons we have learned dearly during it, now ready perhaps for a more regal position in life (the Bright HE already showing signs of its presence, beginning May 3, Thursday).

The life of consecration requires much painful awareness of things we have done wrong or failed to do. Yet that awareness can be a peaceful one, even an elixir, when it helps us live more consciously, doing the better thing first rather than late, thereby saving us from more suffering or recrimination.  Even a blessing sent to the past can heal the past, we hope, and straw petals on our path future.

Moon in Libra-->Scorpio
/moon void-of-course beginning at 10:33p Saturday PT | 1:33a Sunday ET | 5:33a(Su) UT
until it enters Scorpio at 0:13a PT | 3:13a ET | 7:13a UT
< moon in the Via Combusta
Full Moon of Taurus-Scorpio is exact at 5:59p PT | 8:59p ET | 0:59a(M) UT

The Full Moon of Wesak (Taurus) seems to confer a deep spiritual silence and solitude, whether one is of the Buddhist tradition or not.

The first three paragraphs of Saturday's report might be re-read for perspective on the coming week.

An ox, lying upon the ground asleep, in the sunshine. Upon its back two birds are perched.   Idle and self-indulgent. Pleasure in physical appetites. Brings trouble upon himself.  Grossness.   b

The sun shining brightly in a cloudless sky.    Carried away with brilliant anticipations, too sanguine and so liable to disappointment.   c

A large water-wheel attached to a corn mill.   A capable mind, flexible; an excellent mathematician; much ingenuity.   c

Two awards for bravery in war.   Recognition.   s

 An old-fashioned well.   Recompense.   s

A woman drawing two dark curtains aside.   Daring.   s

A peaceful valley; a lake upon which a swan is floating. At the back rises a high mountain.   A generous, kind nature, full of contentment and quiet happiness. Few sorrows; peace in relations. Passive, calm, thoughtful mind; manners courteous and body elegant. Strong memory.   Peace.   b

}Out of Shadows into Hopeful Awareness{

Moon in Libra
|Karmically difficult third| of this week ends at 1:21p PT | 4:21p ET | 8:21p UT

We have seen an enormous amount of not only political but legal maneuvering and cases moving through the courts with tortuous slowness but sometimes reaching resolution, during this almost-ended Dark Hermetic Epoch (March 9 - May 2 inclusive). The California serial killer, two days ago, and Bill Cosby yesterday, and all kinds of other strange cases, and Michael Cohen Trump's lawyer, and on and on. The DHE is a time to go backward, revisit the past, clear things up, or clean them up, or "repent" and purify oneself from errors.

Not that that sort of thing is impossible during the Bright Hermetic Epoch (May 3, Thursday, through July 6) but the whole period tends to be more forward-looking. I think we will be happy with that. It's as if rubber bands around one's ankles tying one to the past will finally be released or broken.

Meanwhile, it is good to use the advantages of the DHE, such as psychologically and spiritually helpful reminiscences which, even if sad, help one to know oneself through one's past and one's relations with others. Memories can be precious during these times, lighting up everything in our lives, showing a better way.

Saturday:

A new Moon on a very dark sky.   A very gloomy life.   c

The sun shining brightly in a cloudless sky.    Carried away with brilliant anticipations, too sanguine and so liable to disappointment.   c

Drilling for oil.   Speculation.   s

A Sun that is rising upon the ocean waters.   Restlessness and travel for the sake of discovery. Elevation and coming honors. Changes and voyages in the direction of the Orient. Fortune and distinction. Illumination.   b

Two awards for bravery in war.   Recognition.   s

A woman stands holding a book in one hand and a pair of scales in the other.   Learning, sound reason, dispassionate judgment, and elegant manners; but cold and impassive. Success in duties and profession; famous, but not popular.  Rich and long-lived.  Judgment.   b

A portly man, walking among pigeons, which flock upon the ground at his feet.   Chief interests in home and care of children. Attractive to young persons. Mind pacific and benevolent. Inspires confidence and faith in others.   Ministration.   b

The gloominess and disappointment go along with the |difficult third|, via combusta, and the fading DHE, but there appears to be improvement. One needs to keep up one's faith, and "speculate" a little, that is, believe in something impossible to make it more possible. Bravery is rewarded, ultimately.  The final two symbols speak of a cold but wisely effective woman and a kindly domestic beloved man, a reversal of the stereotypes of the two sexes. Interesting.  Regardless of sex we could bring forward either or both of these personae.

}Rising Upward{

Moon in Libra
|Karmically difficult third| of this week lasts until late Saturday afternoon

A spacious hall, like a museum, the walls of which are covered with symbols and hieroglyphics.   A student of the mystical, or an antiquarian; curious studies.   c

A general accepting defeat gracefully.   Expediency.   s

An old man, poorly clad, stands by the side of a river, from which he collects bits of wood and straw with a rake.   One of little wit who through obtuseness falls into errors which despoil him. Thinks to gain comforts by easy ways, but scratches to himself sorrow and annoyance, partly from females. Lassitude.   b

Ritualization.   s

The |difficult third of the week| can bring disappointment in one area of your life or another. Thus you could be the generally accepting defeat gracefully, for a time. We need to keep our faith in our wisest choices and keep on with some effort rather than lapse into the lassitude of the old man at the riverside. The rest of the symbols are beautifully promising so if we maintain poise we should sense good things coming. The Full Moon of Taurus-Scorpio, exact on Sunday but evident  now, is the Wesak festival in Buddhist tradition and tends to be serious in a deeply spiritual way; so our thoughts may be turned toward the everlasting more than the transitory.

|Karmically difficult third| of this week begins early and continues until Saturday afternoon

until it enters Libra at 6:14p PT | 9:14p ET | 1:14a(F) UT

Two men fencing with swords.   A duelist, pugilist or gymnast; does not admit an equal; formidable kind of opponent.   c

A general accepting defeat gracefully.   Expediency.   s

A horrid sight! A naked man being grievously tortured, with blood flowing.   c

A spacious hall, like a museum, the walls of which are covered with symbols and hieroglyphics.   A student of the mystical, or an antiquarian; curious studies.   c

A well-favored cow, grazing in a park, in the shade of two trees.   Complacent, contented. Attracts attention by physical powers or beauty. Comfort and happiness dissociated from labor, and inclining to luxury. Success and contentment in attachments.   Bodily Wealth.   b

A troubadour stands with one foot upon the ledge of a rock, his instrument slung at his side; he is listening to the music of a cascade which falls at his feet.   Bohemian habits, refined tastes, a love for things beautiful, music, poetry, art.  A roaming life; happiness but not fame. Talented. Content in the possession of his powers, thinking too little of wider uses.  Strong imagination, love of the marvelous, sensitive to the opinions and influence of others.   Harmony.   b

The garden of the Tuileries.   Luxury.   s

None of these symbols are to be taken as inevitable fate, especially the negative ones. I abhor the "torture" symbol but report it dutifully because it might be a clue to something we need to overcome. No one ever has to be tortured, in the Kingdom of Heaven, and we must approach that Kingdom with all due speed, eliminating all cruelty first in our own thoughts and hearts and then as far as possible in the world at large. Jesus, Sai Baba, and a multitude of spiritual teachers have shown the way. We ought to pray for those unfairly imprisoned or treated cruelly. And do whatever we are led to do to aid them.

The duelers and the general accepting defeat gracefully seem to go together, for if there is a duel, someone has to lose; unless it should be a draw, as all duels ultimately, perhaps, must be when the karma of the participants has been worked out.

Pars Fortuna in the 5th sector of play or pleasure helps to bring home the reality of the remaining four symbols. They speak of something beautiful, refined and cultured, on sublime levels, and I hope we may experience that profoundly.

[If you missed Tuesday's report, it was posted very late but it was posted so you might want to read it.]

Moon in Virgo

A man scaling a wall by means of a rope ladder. In his teeth he holds a sword, and in his right hand a firearm.   Daring and courageous. Rises to positions of honor and overcomes all obstacles. Eloquent, carrying defense in his mouth.   Prowess.   b

A relay race.   Fitness.   s

A man in the prime of life stands upon a dais; holding in his right hand a scroll of papers; upon his head is a laurel wreath.  Victories in life by means of intellect. Through penetration and large understanding he acquires honors and dignity. Regarded with favor by the people.   Mind-Wealth.   b

A ferry boat in the act of taking people across a wide deep stream.   A guide and teacher of the public; of much service to others more than to himself or herself.   c

Santa Claus filing stockings furtively.   Prodigality.   s

A large elliptical figure on the ground, and a man standing upright within.   Loves passionately, a great admirer of the opposite sex. A lover of the beautiful in art and in nature.   c

A man in the midst of a lot of children at play.   Simplicity of manner. Fond of children and childish amusements.   c

Has anyone seen the Netflix series Merli, made in France, about a high school philosophy teacher? Every one of these symbols could relate to and fit neatly what went on in that series.

So if you are a teacher, this may be your day to shine. For all of us, something like a fertile, lively demonstration of our real indomitable personalities seems likely, smiled upon by the cosmos. I leave you to ponder the symbols for they could suggest something very personal to you.

All I can do is SCREAM, because I wrote this on Monday, was very pleased with the happy symbols for the day, and then today, Tuesday, going to the site, I find that I did not provide the links to it either in Facebook or Twitter. SCREAM!  So on the one day in recent memory when there are wonderfully promising symbols for the day, I failed to connect you with them. SCREAM!  And if you say I am going senile, let me thank you for your kindly diagnosis but inform you that NO, it is the Dark Hermetic Epoch which is making things so incredibly weird (until May 3, but we can make it better, I hope, by self-awareness, which I should have done more of yesterday). Yes, yesterday I was the "soldier derelict in duty" and have no idea what demon from the subconscious made me forget.

A soldier derelict in duty.   Deviation.   s

A boat on a large lake, it might be a big river; two men are rowing in it.   Fond of company and of changes; a speculative bent, fond of adventure.   c

A glass-bottomed boat in still water.   Curiosity.   s

A ferry boat in the act of taking people across a wide deep stream.   A guide and teacher of the public; of much service to others more than to himself or herself.   c

A relay race.   Fitness.   s

Two yellow flowers growing beneath the shade of a luxuriant tree.   Security, peace, prosperity. Sincere and advantageous friendships. Protected by someone greater than himself. Kind and trustful.   Security.

A man of benevolent countenance stands near to a cottage chopping wood. Around him are orchards well filled with fruit. Near to him is a sheep grazing.   Contented, happy disposition; a friend of Nature and beloved of her. His ambitions are fulfilled with the day.   Heart-Wealth.    b

Three boats! Curiosity and a yen for adventure. So one might neglect duties (straying soldier); better (says Prudence) to take care of them first and then be free. The "boating" adventures lead to something like spiritual treasure when one is somewhat selfless (the ferryman).  One feels ready for anything (the relayed torch) when fully a part of the human "race." The final two symbols wrap up what could be a wonderful day if all this pans out. Lunar aspects are smoother than yesterday's, so why not?

^Finding One's Place^

Moon in Leo

A powerful man, holding a scourge in his right hand, and driving two slaves in manacles.   A tyrant who takes delight in power apart from its uses. Opinions are bigoted and selfish. Bad karma after his death, when the slaves go free.   Despotism.   b

A soldier derelict in duty.   Deviation.   s

A burning brand beneath the paw of a lion, whose rage is against it.  Sedition. Affairs marred by one's own violence. Strife, wrath. Force turned against oneself. Disintegration.   b

A ram standing alone, looking towards a flock of sheep in the distance.   The male principle predominates. Sympathies toward the opposite sex wanting.   c

A relay race.   Fitness.   s

A ferry boat in the act of taking people across a wide deep stream.   A guide and teacher of the public; of much service to others more than to himself or herself.   c

Two cobblers working at a table.   Capability.   s

There could be self-centeredness, with the moon in Leo forming hard aspects plus the trend of the rather forbidding symbols. With the ferryman, they suggest visiting the realm of the dead in order to gain perspective and strength. Through the portal of imagined death is real immortality.

The first three delineate a situation in which there is lack of freedom and indeed tyranny, so that those who want to deviate from protocol know they will be punished and so are likely to suffer degradation for the sake of safety.  No resolution is offered, but the fourth symbol suggests that one might be content with the situation so long as one feels that one's aloneness is significant as opposed to the supposed ordinariness of those who are merely members of the herd.

The last three provide hope. One sees that one is part of a "race" and can participate, however fit one may be, and thus become more fit. Then one perceives that one can help others and that this is even more satisfying than merely serving oneself.  Finally there could be capable activity shared with perhaps one special individual.

c: Charubel, 19th century clairvoyant who was John Thomas
s: Sabian symbols which came through psychic Elsie Wheeler, interpreted by Marc Edmund Jones
