\Peculiar Turning Point/

Goodness permeates the atmosphere at a subjective level, even though there are intense issues. People may be suspicious of or spying on one another, perhaps to prevent a death or death itself in situations which are maleficent. Cutting back the growth of the unnecessary can enhance what is necessary in wise accounting. Something elevated, beautiful and charming lends happiness and good fortune if you surrender to it rather than to an imagined inimical fate. 

Obstructions are temporary but nevertheless real, for we remain in the Dark Hermetic Epoch until July 17 even though Mercury turns direct this morning. That does not mean it is speeding ahead. Today it is hardly moving at all ("stationary turning direct" in astrological language--of course from a geocentric perspective). When you are held back you can determine what is primary in your life now, and adhere to that. There are robbers out and about, hidden of course, who would siphon off your time, energy or resources. An ordeal of doubt helps you focus on what is real and lasting rather than deceptive. Passions and sensuousness could be excessive, but you can put your focus in family or "career family," those with whom you are allied, and come through a peculiar period successfully.

Many feel strong within themselves. Determination creates privilege. Things are enhanced by bringing them into service to one another. You can correct old vacillating approaches to everything and feel renewal. At times you don't care what people think, you just want to express yourself, and this can seem mischievous to them and yourself. There is docility and tractability in some who might be lonely without your direction.

I feel that, musically, this may be the best song Good Charlotte ever did. It gets the flavor of Venus square Neptune, exact today and tomorrow: lost and illusory love, or appearing-and-disappearing love. As G. C. say, "You can't tell me this ain't real, 'cause this is real . . . " Holding on to Neptune can be a sticky and tearful business. However:

Sorrows fade away in peaceful scenes which magnify the gracefulness of nature and humanity. That banishes discouragement. There are challenges through the consequences of past actions, making for an obstacle course. Yet one could abandon oneself to thrilling moments, before realizing what is happening. These may not complete your hoped-for ecstasy yet are tantalizing enough to make the day memorable.

Although we are in the |difficult third|, there is a softening or loosening of the overall pattern for today, so all is not bleak. Wherever there has been turmoil or intensification, there is also helpful modification of your approach to life. There is a defensive and secretive tendency, which could lead you to find particular places where you feel at ease. You enhance things by cutting back on what is extraneous. This liberates you from pointless burdens. Strength and determination give victory in a career area. Either it's happening now or you get insight into how to make it happen soon. It manifests vitality within your day.

The harder side of the day requires vigilance, like a spider watching for flies. You see into people's weaknesses and maybe even their criminal tendencies. Maybe you are drawn to a detective thriller, or crime stories in the news. People get arrested and tried when they are careless ethically, and they are careless ethically when they don't respond with care and compassion to the reality of other beings. Then there are crises in their lives as a natural karmic comeuppance or lesson. 

If these issues do not touch you directly, you could see them in other lives. You might, at best, rise above them. The day has also amusing or pleasing aspects because of the moon's sextile with Venus and approaching trine with Uranus.

Song of the day:  Jesus, Jesus  by Noah Gundersen. This is not a song of faith but of questing by a non-believer. A Christian would say that Noah has not found Jesus and does not know him--and perhaps Noah would agree. This is a magnificently honest, childlike testimony of a questing soul. I am experiencing the Mercury Retrograde period (June 7 through 30) as an oscillation in plans which I find disheartening and difficult. I am able to keep up with daily routines, mostly, although I seem impaired by (a) daydreaming, which is really an attempt to get at deeper matters our surface consciousness ordinarily neglects, and (b) interruptions from the outside and (c) bad choices which waste time here and there at crucial moments. That is pretty much par for the course when Mercury is retrograde (and, I have to say, also during the rest of the Dark Hermetic Epoch until July 17). But this time, in addition, my travel plans are way out in limbo. I feel I need to decide on them, to secure tickets and make hotel reservations, yet I can't decide--and this feels like a real can't, as if it were simply impossible. One minute yes, the next minute no, with the no winning. The trip would be after Mercury turns direct, but the planning should be now--but I can't. It is disturbing. I mention it because it might be a parallel to something you are experiencing, not necessarily with travel plans but whatever you are wanting to get settled. With a friend, it takes the shape of his would-be girlfriend not being willing to make any choices in his direction at the present time although she says she will in the future. So he feels in limbo, as I do for different reasons. I have no clear-cut advice for solving such matters if you are experiencing one yourself. Maybe we "just have to wait," one of the harder things for human beings to do.

It occurs to me that part of the reason why this oscillation in plans is so intense this time is that Mars (initiative, beginning, decision) is in the sign Libra, the scales, known for its wavering or indecisiveness or ability to see both sides of everything. (Until July 26, but the wavering could lessen or end by July 1 or by the 17th.)

Thursday: One wonders how lasting the various military initiatives in Iraq will be, since all this turmoil erupted during a Mercury Retrograde cycle. The confusion is intense. Well-meaning fighters are strong and valiant, heading into the fray without understanding what is at stake or what result could reasonably be expected. Will somebody, some side, really be the victor? It is hard to imagine. Mars opposes Uranus exactly. Immediate plans of new recruits have been canceled, families disrupted, for the imagined splendor of battle. 

Beauty erupts in friends and friendly relations, at home or in the neighborhood. People want to share their feelings yet keep to themselves. They value their own eccentricity and don't mind if their path seems a reversal of the ordinary and "correct." They prefer uncertainty to prosaic routine.

This is rap with a refreshing difference. It fits the day because it touts spiritual renewal and we have both the moon and the sun trining Neptune in water signs while the moon wanes (a seeking sort of time). 

Many will, rather than act, rest or relax contemplating past experiences, maybe wishing they could regale the world with them. Yet there is a colorful desire for a win, a gamble, a fight even to win some prize, a gain as of rich jewels or a treasure-trove. This is the stuff of which movies are made, rarely real life. Ornamental dress and attractive semblance will be donned by many of both sexes, perhaps extravagantly, with good-hearted appreciation of life in its nebulous yet fascinating variety.

Much is spasmodic and evanescent. The new lunar month is trying to get a foothold. Things seem exciting and wonderful for a moment and then fade like a meteor shower. Talents are intense but hidden or hiding. You could try a hundred things and tire of each quickly. You enhance your life by eliminating whatever is not helpful. There can be strength throughout the fray, and victory when you know you are right.

Aggression and self-assertion in some can be cruel (sun opposite Pluto while Mars opposes Uranus). If you encounter this you need to face the consequences of your own stances, now and previously, as well as someone else's. We endure karmic results in order to learn from them and improve. Good judgment comes from adhering to the instruction of someone wise who has a sense of justice and has gained respect.

There is bleakness or doubt. It is hard to keep faith with friends, yet it can be done. Their faith in you could be flagging also. But the one-star rating is not hopeless, just a signal that you need to boost that faith.

Benevolence needs to be booted up, so that one does not fall into disparagement of everyone. Then there could be pleasant social times based on humility rather than ego. There is an isolationist temperament in many, yet a desire to expend oneself according to one's lights. So you could get quite a lot done in seclusion or according to rules and procedures of your own. There is destiny in the day, if you are true to something deep. Then you will sense how what you are doing has a role to play which is more than ordinary, supporting a cause you believe in in a way no one else could.

Luxurious and artistic tastes can be satisfied partially. One wants to get and enjoy things with as little effort as possible, as if one deserved all this without question. It is true that some things can be dropped or postponed if impossible for now. You may rely on wealth and influence. If you carry on sustaining the cause or destiny suggested at the end of the previous paragraph, you could be contributing something which makes all the uncertainties of no consequence. Who are your true friends? is a pertinent question, which you may be able to answer better now since the Venus-Saturn opposition (a test of love) has ended. Still, friends may spar, argue or disagree, finding this at some level more stimulating than annoying.

Repose is a wonderful thing when you can get it in or around the working day: a chance to read, ponder, think and relax in comfort. There is a side of you which trusts itself without relation to anyone else, content to live obscurely. This is rather mysterious. It is the you unknown. It could be a gypsy side of you, expending itself on what seems remote from the usual world, yet you desire some success within that world. You enjoy others' benevolence and share it with any who open doors into your life.

A mixture of the insecure and the secure keeps you guessing or on your toes. You may feel spurned by someone toward whom you have had strong feelings and passions. Love has been spoiled, like faded brittle flowers. You are on a boat and the landing is washed away. Those dried-up flowers won't help. But on the shore you see a tree with thriving yellow flowers under it, and someone who might offer security to your affections and ensure your well-being. How to get there? Aspiration, hope and prayer are a beginning.

The Grand Square is with us again because Mars has moved into a renewed square with Jupiter (after receding from it during its retrogradation). And Luna accentuates that configuration today. Pressure to perform, to live up to one's hopes or plans, is one solid meaning of this; with a likelihood of "too may irons in the fire" so that it is wise to select carefully what to put first (especially because of the retrograde Mercury). The pressure comes from both inside and outside.

Soliciting and giving peace and comfort to those in one's immediate neighborhood is a good uplifting potential. Someone also may do this for you. There is some worry about money or costs, or a feeling of failure in that regard, yet deliverance is at hand through whatever negotiations need to be made. Hard, humble work is a good thing, granting self-respect as well as subsistence. Some of it is done alone, with a taciturn, self-contained attitude. You know what you need to do even if others don't get it. 

There's a touch of vanity, of reaching for the clouds, wanting things seductive yet pointless. Of course this makes life colorful, so is not all bad, but could lead to circular meandering or questing like a dog chasing its tail. And someone very seductive could be doing the same, with you as victim or willing participant, so that you realize you are being used through persuasion, perhaps deception, and yet don't mind, so interesting is the scene and its entertainment of wild hopes.

You are not alone if you find your plans in limbo. This is Mercury Retrograde. It is hard to make definite, firm plans at such a time. One tends to be uncertain, and at worst feels that nothing is reliable or likely to work out as hoped, so why bother? Sometimes it is wise to heed that instinct; for example, I just read about the new Fire smartphone to be made available by Amazon in a month, and after feeling excited at first, decided it was not a good idea (the monthly plan with AT&T for $60 a month is not a great deal). If you can't postpone a decision until July (Mercury turns direct on the 1st), then you have to do the best you can, perhaps informing people that a decision is tentative.

With Mars opposing Uranus there is a tendency to go it alone, to be self-reliant and individually enterprising or venturesome in a self-contained manner. You may not feel that others understand what you are doing or why. Therefore there could be pugnacious situations when people oppose you, or seem to, or when you evoke opposition by a pugnacious attitude. There is a tendency to shirk responsibilities, avoid paying, or go further into debt. Of course that makes for costs at a later date. "Easy come, easy go" is not a smart basic philosophy of money--unless the "come" for you is in fact extremely easy. 

There are pleasant possibilities, sweet sharing with people in a simple benevolent manner which gives everyone comfort. It's the first day of summer, and you may feel a summer-like blessing of contentment. There are plenty of good things to appreciate. Some things come to an end, or seem to, while Mercury is retrograde--some which have outlived their usefulness. This gives you a respite which allows deeper musing on the meaning of it all. 

Some signals, including the Grand Square in cardinal signs, point to a desire to be tyrannous, to compel people, rule or command them or punish them if they rebel. Of course this is usually immature and wrong, unless you are in some position of authority requiring such action. Indications in the previous paragraph can come to the rescue.

Nobility and aspiration are wonderful, lofty as a splendid tree blessing the neighborhood. You may be on the lookout for strategies to cope with issues or individuals, and succeed at that through good intentions and sharp vision. 

There is beauty in people of an extraordinary nature, uplifting when accepted and appreciated graciously rather than envied. Some, however, may have given up the best of their aspiration and struggle, becoming lazy, slipping into decline. If that should be you, you can recover after giving yourself the break or rest you seem to need. 

A rich estate, garden or park could be significant, granting more fruitfulness to your life if you take advantage of it. Someone, perhaps male, seems to be going in circles, attending to inconsequentials. Yet there can be reorientation with or by him. Pride is an issue, a wish to compel others to do what one wishes. Being more mellow and patient could evade a potential crisis and get you back to paragraph 1.

The star ratings are low, yet there are good factors, as always. There could be simplicity and benevolence in the neighborhood, a sense of community even if strained. The new is coming out from the old and singing a song, like a mockingbird--intimating that what has happened before can happen again but in a different way not any worse and perhaps better. Something you do alone with your mind is fascinating to you but helter-skelter and you don't care to make it into a solid discipline at this point. You are self-reliant but perhaps estranged from many. That may have its purpose and place for a while. 

Other more cheerful factors amount to dalliance with things and people within an ambience of tolerance, concord and agreement.  This might seem pointless, circling nowhere, yet pleasant enough. Yet some around you might seem tyrannical or sadistic, wanting to punish. (Let us hope this does not take horrible forms in the Mideast as it has in recent days.) Mars opposing Uranus is a danger signal; impatience to an extreme. It can be "sudden endings and misunderstandings" (Isabel Hickey), or risk-taking without diplomacy, a conviction that one must get one's own way at all costs. And, obviously, the costs can be enormous, even up to the suicidal.

Periodically I need time off for research. This consists of reviewing past events in others' lives, the world's history, and my own life to see which particular aspects, orbs, field systems, and other factors are most pertinent and helpful in understanding and anticipating events and trends. I am very detailed and particular with all of that. I have a whole "stable" of methods which I have used at times and tested, and I need sometimes to pull them out of the stable and let them run a bit in tests I set up (it's the Year of the Horse), reviewing past events. This will help me, once again, to sharpen the methods I use in the daily forecasts.

I am doing that today (Saturday as I write) and will be doing so Sunday also, so I am not writing a detailed forecast for Monday and Tuesday as usual. 

Pertinent facts to consider are:  (a) Mars square Pluto, still in effect, and this can be fury at the worst, extreme impatience otherwise, and a desire to compel someone to do or think or be something. You are not crazy if you are feeling that but of course you need to be careful. You are not a doormat and you can protest when required, but as politely as possible even if firmly. 

(b) Venus is still opposite Saturn and this adds to the impatience with people. They may seem hostile to you, or uncaring, or remote, or boring, or . . . You may feel unworthy yourself, or wonder why friends are so remote or unable or unwilling to be with you or communicate pleasantly. 

(c) Mercury is still retrograde (until July 1, although the Dark Hermetic Epoch continues until July 17), and so in addition to feeling upset with people you may sometimes think they are crazy, because people fall into abnormal habit patterns at these times. Or they may think you are off the beam, because you are acting or speaking "out of pattern." 

These three factors are not easy, but of course there are also helpful factors, including Venus's sextile with Jupiter. This can be a saving grace. Since Venus is in Taurus, it could be happy eating, or overeating; enjoyment of other sensuous delights; pleasure in preparing food or eating out; musical upliftment; and so on. All that could be welcome relief from the other difficulties.

It is wise to calm down, take it easy, stay with routines as much as possible; yet give yourself breaks when you can. Make allowance for the fact that people are going through a hard or confusing time and will not be as friendly or easygoing as usual.

This is an amazing collaboration by these two. I haven't seen the video yet and sometimes I find them distracting, but the music and words are excellent in depicting "stuff" Eminem has actually been through with his family and it all fits the difficulties in the current planetary situation just outlined.  Eminem is showing us how to be a "survivor" of Venus opposite Saturn and Mercury retrograde and Mars square Pluto.

What I pointed out yesterday, those three major factors, still apply because they are still in effect, so it would be good to re-read that. 

The moon in Pisces (time above) can be laid-back, sweet, easygoing. It's good to do the things which are minimally necessary yet give yourself time for relaxation, daydreaming, meditation and soft pleasures.

If you can manage that--given the problems already outlined.

This could be dangerous advice while Mercury is retrograde and people veer way off course--but this song, no matter its country & western roots, probably describes what many are feeling as well as anything.

A form of mastery is attainable, no matter how uncooperative people or events may seem. That means being enduring and stable, with a bit of daring or derring-do. Being busy for small returns is sometimes hard, and hard to maintain because of boredom, but ultimately brings rewards. A view of what is going on from high above can help. You keep re-orienting yourself continually. Some who have had successful lives may be faltering, seemingly decadent. Your influence could help them.

An unselfish, friendly trend in people will be reassuring. It mitigates the difficulties of the Venus-Saturn opposition (because Luna is in good aspect with both ends of it). People including yourself can be sympathetic and persuasive. There is reciprocity. Simplicity of character, as in children, can be enchanting. It can override mischief deriving from envy or a desire to disturb or hurt someone (because you feel you have been hurt by him or her). It is hard but possible to get over those feelings and turn to something more masterful.

Creative potentials are here, perhaps obscured. It's all too easy to slip into decadent ways. One can even drop one's heritage for the sake of momentary escape. But concealed behind every decision is a contrary tendency waiting to manifest, and people do not reveal overtly what they are thinking. Someone you like is attractive and flowery with the flavor of exuberant youth. There is an inception of something adventurous--Venus's sextile with Jupiter permits leeway in any direction.

There is an ability to be very practical and make the most of opportunities, as a beekeeper catching a swarm of bees and placing them in his orchard. Yet with this goes a need for recuperation and rest, a Mercury-retrograde need for sure. So one is capable of more than one does, yet one does remarkable things, most of them designed not for permanence but for the momentary delight of doing them.
