As reported here many times, we remain in the Dark Hermetic Epoch (major half-phase of Mercury's cycle) until August 3. Mercury always goes retrograde at the center of that cycle, as it did on June 26 (until July 20). The whole period is difficult for most, as explained in detail in forecasts sent out during the past week, which, if you have not read them, you ought to find (beginning with last Friday's, the initial paragraphs of each report). For one thing, many feel "hanging," suspended, not knowing which way to go. If you have "nothing to do" it could be a good time, granting utter freedom to think, feel, and explore as you wish, which might be true for some on a holiday. Thursday:

1 Stage: However, some will use part of this holiday to take care of accounts, bookkeeping, financial details. Others will want to refrain from all serious activity and even protest against it or feel outraged that they have to do anything of a routine or laboring nature.

2 Focus: Gentleness and poetry are available. There are stars in flowers as well as flowers in stars (fireworks). A good position among happy people grants success. Information about the earth, its strata, and the atmosphere and its fluctuations could be pertinent.

3 Concern: It is well to beware a false sense of security when it comes to loyalties, for some will feel so outraged (by someone else, a situation, or you) that they are tempted toward destructive acts. For most, fortunately, this will be merely at the feeling or perhaps verbal level.

4 Ado: There is a gap between ability and performance. Well, it's a holiday, so why should you care? Yet you might be thinking you want to attempt many things while knowing you can only be really good at a few of them. You know what they are from past experience. Go for it.

5 Issue: Faded love! Where has past love, where have past lovers gone? Some will mourn them; others shrug their shoulders and look for the best in the current scene. If it doesn't measure up to past glories, let some of it go, reduce expectations, and take care of trivial matters which make you feel better.

6 Resolution: We all admire someone, and would like to be more like someone. Go for it. How did this person handle disappointments? You can do the same. You could be deft at an art or craft which is your own, though you emulate a master of it.

7 Essence: You have a beautiful scene in which to enjoy yourself. It has gardens and terraces. You want to display yourself. On Independence Day you have the right to pursue your happiness. You want to be self-reliant and handle things in your own way, heading off indomitably to your own choice of luxurious fulfillment.

1 Stage: I have never visited The Big Easy but the nickname of that city sets our stage for the day. It's all pretty easygoing. At worst, you could drift into something decadent. Other trends could lead you to ponder your background deeply or turn to ancient knowledge or teaching.

2 Focus: Versatility could lead to impotence. You could get involved in too much, making your activities disordered and vexatious. Information could save you, that is, an interest in scientific or technical matters which put things in a more lasting focus.

3 Concern: Ambitions voided or hopes betrayed. Why does so much seem perilous? Who has betrayed you? Is this really just an appearance? He or she may feel the betrayed one. So it is well to calm down, trust the slow process of things through the Dark Hermetic Epoch (until August 3) and avoid becoming angry at anyone or everyone.

4 Ado: Despite other indications, you know you have skills and abilities. You may need to choose among them so you have a clearer focus. You can develop power through self-command which leads to command of others, but not before you have established yourself along a given line. That can be pushed but not hurried.

5 Issue: Fateful inclinations lead you into the hands of someone who may not be as trustworthy as you wish. People need to feel loved and wanted, or at least appreciated. Then there is disappointment, and like trimming a runaway plant one has to trim back a relationship to what is workable.

6 Resolution: You can try your hand at things. Nothing is stopping you. It's healthy to try, and shrug off failure with a laugh. The attempt itself strengthens you and relieves worry. We're in The Big Easy. You don't have to prove something. You can have fun, enjoying recreation like a kid on a swing.

7 Essence: Too much of a good thing can be decadent and self-defeating. This is obvious with alcohol; also with some other diversions. There are things you want to do which prove your skill and give you self-respect. You can do them regardless of anyone else dragging his feet or holding you back. Then you are indomitable. But the easier side of you is genial, social and self-indulgent. You are balancing these two sides of your nature.
