If I wanted to be the kind of astrologer who glories in tragedies I would have plenty to talk about: The fires which killed 19 firefighters; the fireworks which injured dozens; another fire incident I just read about, don't remember where, which killed several. One could say, not superficially, that this could be connected with the long-term square between Pluto and Uranus, especially because Uranus is in Aries, a fire sign, and because now, when these incidents hit (and also of course the Egyptian turmoil and killing) the sun is square Uranus and opposite Pluto by just a few degrees, making that longer-term square more immediately manifest. That is superficial astrology but not without accuracy, for such indications are always worse during a Dark Hermetic Epoch, which makes people less competent and more prone to error. For most of us it is all more subtle, such as controlling interior "fires" of passion or anger or energy and directing all that in a useful direction. For Saturday:
1 Stage: Timing is important. You sense what causes what, and how to get behind causes by being true to your interior sense of timing. This could keep you a step ahead. You also do this by concealing some of what you are or intend, while bringing forward what the Other will see as more acceptable.
2 Focus: You want to cover everything, connect everything, see how all things are related, and be on top of the information. That would enable you to be a conqueror, to gain power in surprising ways. This you can do even while others are seeing you as soft and gentle.
3 Concern: There are fallen idols. The United States is one of them, because of the Snowden affair and the obvious fact that the Statue of Liberty does not hold a torch of freedom but a wand spewing out disinformation and lies. That perhaps is why the fireworks in California intended to signify freedom turned into an attack on the citizens, as if fate were telling us there is indeed something wrong with our nation in a deep way. I myself did not even look at the fireworks going on outside my window. What were they celebrating? A National Security State? Where is Independence and Freedom? Still, from a purely astrological viewpoint, today there can be kindness, simple good fortune, and sympathy.
4 Ado: People love what is fashionable and conventionally approved, whatever makes them feel rich and successful. They turn to adornments and furnishings as certifications of their own value. Still, in doing so they may support the fine arts and add to the world's beauty. Something firm, solid, established and reliable is stabilizing.
5 Issue: To be left without love when one had thought one had deserved or earned it is devastating. It is something like spoiled fruit or faded flowers. Whatever is annihilated is now useless. Rather than cling to it one could get back to the Everlasting behind it and let that germinate eventually into something just as splendid as what is gone.
6 Resolution: Nobility comes from self-sacrifice. This is not as hard as it seems, once the process is underway. The ideals of the nation (if we can resurrect them) or of the international community are real and powerful when shared in a neighborly setting where companionship flourishes.
7 Essence: You can appreciate your advantages. You can be self-reliant and indomitable. You do not want to coast but use your abilities in a way which is beholden to no one. You pound your skills into shape and lead them toward the place where they are useful and therefore successful. Patience and caution blend into secure advantage.

~Self-Confinement, Vision, Self-Strengthening~
What will happen to Edward Snowden? I shall not attempt a prediction except to say that Mercury turns direct on July 20 and I would expect that between then and the 23rd something will break for him--something fairly good. I know that now it looks as if no country in the world is bold enough to challenge the U. S. military-intelligence machine and risk reprisals by granting him asylum. I would be going out on a limb to say that one will come through for Snowden, but if there is any chance of that happening, the above dates might be the time, or at least for a change rather than the current limbo. Sunday:
1 Stage: Many will be impelled toward getting small things done. Manual labor is good. It will put things in order so that your larger determinations will be able to operate and succeed within a controlled environment.
2 Focus: Contending with obstacles is the way to gain power. There is an all-round trend, an ability to look up, down, beneath, above, and sideways to see all factors and win by means of that thorough vision.
3 Concern: Changeful knowledge and versatility will help you rise beyond any problems. You may resent what appears to be destruction going on around you, or the demolition of things and hopes, but your agility, penetrating mind, and memory will give you an edge over all that.
4 Ado: There is a contrast between the superficial and the profound, and you have a foot in both worlds. The profound could be ancient knowledge, a book you love or believe in, the pursuit of wisdom. The superficial could be TV shows, movies, games, entertainment. Each of these can throw light on the other and bring it to life.
5 Issue: Strong feelings overrule reason and push us into a longing for what has been lost or has become impossible. There can be mooning and moaning for someone gone, a feeling of abandonment. However, this could be a chance to become a gypsy, one who willingly abandons one situation for another, trusting that some fresh scene or set of actors in the drama will be better than just sitting and suffering. New horizons encourage expenditure, which is life.
6 Resolution: If spread too thin, in too many directions, you can recall what has happened in the past which was most fulfilling for you, and recapture that in some way which makes sense in the present. Then the past will be your agent rather than your bondage. You can immortalize what is best in your experience through a mature focus on what you want to achieve.
7 Essence: What you believe in, your principles, are dominant. You want them to be. To get from the known to the unknown requires self-reliance. When all seems lost, you hold on to what you have and use it as a basis for an indomitable progression toward a self-strengthening future.
