The navy man spent hours on deck staring at the moon.
Nobody could figure him out; they shrugged and said "He's
Moonstruck." Power grew in him, and magical
Rebellion. In a forlorn port he disappeared and was not seen again.
The seagulls had liked him; now he saw them often in
The parts unknown he traveled. He meditated,
Not only on the moon's dark side but on a pale blue
Star no one else could glimpse. Time passed.
The navy took not kindly to deserters; searched
Him out. He smiled insanely as they handcuffed him.
He sat upon the prison bunk with eyes closed, somewhere
Else in mind, and then in body, for before the trial he disappeared again.
