"Two daggers crossed" is Ukraine and Russia, Zelensky and Putin, and all the rest of us dragged into this ridiculously evil war whether we want to be or not. There has to be a negotiated solution. "It is to be feared that the nature is too contentious to excite any but the word passions in others." Precisely. Where are the diplomats? They have to disentangle those daggers, for the sake of humanity's future. It seems to me that they are just "sowing in the wind," tossing around endlessly repeated talking points which make them sound sincere to the naive. Are we really so? As for your personal life, rather than wasting substance and time with non-essentials you could find ways to secure harmony (reconcile dagger-like oppositions) through philosophically beneficent dialectic.
"An earthquake" can be evaded by "being careful where one builds." By being too ambitious one could venture into dangerous territory, when "the broad valleys of the world" would be safer terrain for "the seeds of a yet uncertain harvest." One can avoid reversal by invoking the aid of Heaven. There are simple effective things to do with dexterity, perhaps handicrafts, symbolized by "a pair of shears."
Ordinary work makes us feel like "officers on dress parade," disciplined in ways which seem trivial and yet maintain morale and strengthen the cultural and group values which sustain us. Keeping on keeping on not only saves face but makes us feel better. Eventually we can be like "a woman gathering grapes with which she fills many baskets." Maturity's pleasures coincide with gain, the success of one's designs, and the gathering together of satisfying items of fruition for oneself and others.
