One of our loyal companions in this project, a regular reader, noticed the dual emphasis in yesterday's forecast:

1. We are in a Bright Hermetic Epoch until August 29, so it is good to get things moving in an efficient manner, to achieve one's plans and hope--to some happy degree at least.

2. But we will be in a Venus-square Saturn period during that exact same period, or until August 21 (highly unusual for it to last so long, as pointed out yesterday). This puts a damper on enthusiasm, unless one can learn the secrets of how to deal with it. Let us try to find them.

I've been thinking about that all morning, and felt I had to write this report early, dropping other things. The Venus-Saturn square is among the most depressing aspects in astrology, if not the most depressing.

Yet one can have a sense of humor about it. Here is some of what happened to me on Monday, when I go to a regular prayer meeting in the evening:

As I left the apartment building, a neighbor joined me in walking. That was okay, although I was not exactly in the mood for his cheery talk about things (such as punk rock) which were not on my own mind. (VeSqSa: people's moods and yours clash, or you feel that something they are doing or saying is silly.) As we got closer to my destination, a neighboring apartment building, he chattered on, as I waited outside the building. "When will he shut up?" (VeSqSa: unwanted intrusion, from people who may be looking for friendship but you don't want it at that moment.) He was impressed with the building and quizzed me about where I was going, fishing for an invitation. I couldn't invite him, even if I had wanted to, because it is a private group and it would be inconsiderate to the host to bring in a stranger. Finally I got inside, by entering behind a couple who had opened the door, rather than buzzing the host. Then the elevator did not work. A security person appeared, dressed in some awful costume embroidered "Security"! "Can I help you?"--that terrible question which in these cases means, "What are you doing here?" I told her caustically that I came every Monday to the meeting on the third floor. She was not pleased but let me go. It's the first time that anything like that had happened to me in Seattle.  (VeSqSa: Locks, things forbidden. Being locked out. The banks in Greece are locked up this week!)

I got to the meeting. Although late, I was the first one there. People were later than ever before "It's the heat" it was said. (VeSqSa: People have their own worries which slow them down sometimes.) Also, the little dog who always welcomes me this time was barking at me frantically as f I had become a monster. (VeSqSa: More paranoia than usual. More frenemies. I had become a frenemy to this sweet little dog?) (VeSqSa: Frenemies!)

There was a lot more tension than usual as people sat down for beer and pizza. And the host, for the first time ever, brought the cheapest beer he could find, in cans. Nobody complained, I kind of liked it. (VeSqSa: People are more economical, trying to save, realizing they need to cut back. Greece again.) 

People listened politely to one another's small talk but I felt a freeze, despite the hot weather, as if no one really cared about what the others had been doing over the weekend. (VeSqSa: Boring!) (VeSqSa: I have my own worries, why should I care about your trivia?)

As the cheap beer flowed, things got better. But during the prayer session, as one of the guys was praying aloud for the others and their requests, two of the women started giggling. He was offended, and said later, "What was that snickering about?" When I prayed aloud, for those very two, they snickered again. Huh? (VeSqSa: Are people making fun of me? What did I do to offend somebody?) (VeSqSa: People are so absorbed in something troubling them internally that their reactions may be inexplicable or annoying.)

I have seen all this before, in previous Veus square Saturn seasons, over decades, but this time I am finding some words for it. 

Now, a break for me before I write the Wednesday forecast later. (Remember, the VeSqSa lasts till August 22. So I am hoping all this will help you cope with it and maybe even smile at it sometimes.)

Hours later:  Another aspect of the Venus square Saturn era, almost two months this summer, is the business side of it, but it need not be impossible. Often it is a need for economy, or cutting back. Let's accept that graciously. Enjoying life with less expense is an art form and has unexpected benefits. 

We will discuss all this further as the days go by . . . Wednesday looks not too bad; it is the Full Moon day so there is heightened consciousness. The symbols given by clairvoyants for planetary positions can be extremely revealing so I offer a poetic version of them for today:

The car did not heed the warnings, got stuck on the railroad crossing

And was demolished. The driver was watching workers on the side while

Worrying about supervising his own subordinates. Now he is climbing

Steps in another world, meeting an angel form offering him a tinsel crown.

The oak tree is filled with birds; there are shoots around its base;

An elderly couple live in its yard. They tried too long to win their

Way by craftiness, but the keys they made crumbled in the locks.

Humbled, they follow an easier path; red and golden fruit falls to their hands. 

This man thinks a lot, yet something higher than thought pervades his 

Consciousness. A pale blue star shines over the lake where he sits

To ponder. He becomes attuned to higher beings, angels or Devas,

And giving out their message, word-ly and wordlessly, gains a following.

^Learning Plus Graciousness^

Let's not worry too much about the void-of-course period--let's just say that if possible it would be wise to schedule important matters involving other people or decisions or agreements at an earlier time. Not all is lost afterward, but the fine line of definiteness in decisions could be missing. Major stuff earlier, routine stuff later should be the rule. 

There is love in the air in a wonderful way, with the moon in Sagittarius forming a grand trine with the Venus-Jupiter conjunction--now exact--in Leo and with Uranus in Aries, a fire-sign grand trine. This is self-confident love, a love of oneself as well as of others, free and easygoing, not woozy and emotional. It is "Let everyone be who they are, and let me be who I am, and let's enjoy the difference and the similarity without clinging or demanding, just recognizing the divinity in each." 

A different side of things is Venus and Jupiter squaring Saturn in Scorpio. This is not ominous, but can be a threat to poise. The Venus square lasts from June 27 through August 21. This is a very long time for that aspect, for Venus is a quick traveler through the zodiac. This time she chooses to take her station--her slowdown and motionlessness and then backward or retrograde motion--at the time of her square-off with Saturn, which was not, Venus, a wise choice! But the ways of the gods go beyond human reason. There is a divine reason for this. We will be finding out what it is.

You have heard the refrain from me before:  Venus square Saturn is "Nobody loves me" or "I don't love anybody." But let's definitely get beyond that formulation this time! It lasts almost two months! Help me, as I help you! We can do it. Why else would I be Cosmic Piper, except to get us over these bumps? 

One of the deeper sides of Venus square Saturn is detached, selfless love. Unfortunately, most people, confronting the apparent absence of affection or kindness from those they have loved, and even from acquaintances, coworkers, and strangers, feel instead a sort of burning rage or anger or barren disappointment. "I'll show them! If they don't like me, I will be indifferent to them. I will scorn them, frown at them, despise them as they despise me." Well, you can see where that is likely to lead. It makes things worse. It is important to avoid injuring anyone today, even in thought or speech. 

So, please go back to the Sermon on the Mount! (I don't feel like looking up the chapter numbers but it is there in both Matthew and Luke and I think Mark as well. You could find it online no doubt.) (I have read it literally hundreds of times in the past forty years.) "Love your enemies, be kind to those who despise you, bless those who persecute you." Nobody said it was easy, except Jesus himself! "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light." It is easier to bless your enemies than to fight them.

Sermon for the Venus-square Saturn aspect of the summer of 2015 accomplished! But I fear I will have to repeat it in coming days, to remind myself as well as you.

Meanwhile let's remember we are in a Bright Hermetic Epoch until August 29, and can get things done. Today it looks like study, details, learning, especially as connected with career, are very much worth doing. Your friends may be wonderful, yet somehow off in a world of their own, not inimical to you but dwelling in their own thoughts and hopes rather than in yours. Using the above Sermon, you can see that it would be wise to let them be. Trust that they are finding the right path. Pray for them, not to coerce them but to support their search for what is best for them. That is always something spiritual, in fact, it is always G*d, though they probably don't realize that. "The Good I am seeking is my God," says Emma Curtis Hopkins.

The Good they are seeking is their God. They may not realize that yet.

Meanwhile, today a push for success can be solid and fruitful, especially before the v-of-c time given above. You approach some aspects of your agenda as if a prosecuting or defensive attorney, able to see into every motive and intention of anyone involved. 

And, beyond that there is graciousness, summonable no matter what happens.

We are in a Bright Hermetic Epoch (to August 29) which favors clear long-term planning and putting plans into effect efficiently. That does not guarantee the emotional quality of the time, although generally people are more upbeat because feeling more in control of their destinies. 

Venus and Jupiter together in Leo continue their heartening, enlivening trine with Uranus, but are now both beginning to square Saturn. Let's not even talk about it! Actually Venus began that square by ten degrees on Saturday. It is interesting that David Sweat was captured by the police during a |difficult third| of this week (Sunday) and also on the second day of the Venus square to Saturn. I take no pleasure in anyone's discomfiture and feel some sympathy for him and what he will face. He got on a wrong track at an early age but does not appear to have been nearly as hardened a killer as Matt was (you will see what I mean if you look up their histories and their horoscopes). What I am pointing out is that everyone's "karma" catches up with them when Saturn is badly aspected, and since both Venus and Jupiter, the benefic planets, are doing that now, we may, even good girls and boys, expect to deal with our own "issues." I don't want to think about it. Let's do poetry instead (based on the symbols for the day):

To justify himself he argues with the world, and the world argues

Back. There is ripe fruit outside his door, and a wife he loves,

But only his cat can catch the mice. At his work he has to watch

Other "mice," subordinates, and worry about their reactions.

|Karmically intense or sobering third| of this week continues all day

The drive toward self-expression is intense, though probably with plenty of doubts as to whether the way you are doing it will succeed. We have to keep trying! People need self-images constructed by themselves in order to project them to others, and it doesn't matter if some of those others might mock you. Keep your confidence up and your "mask," if such it is, will grow more normal to you and be more convincing. I saw a woman Saturday who looked totally distraught because of her appearance, and she knew the lipstick she was wearing, and her clothing, didn't help, and I felt intensely sympathetic. She was on the verge of tears or a breakdown. I am praying for her at this moment. 

That is often what happens during the |difficult third|, a loss of self-confidence. Yet today, while Venus conjoins Jupiter in Leo, there is an intense desire to dramatize oneself, to be someone, to show what one is and has. Let's look at it this way: If you are genuinely appreciative of what others are and have, their appearance, their skill, their personality, what they are trying to be, you will gain the same appreciation in return--maybe not from the same person, but from someone and Someone. It's karmic law.

The decision on Friday by the Supreme Court came while the moon was in Libra, sign of Oscar Wilde and Truman Capote and many gay or gay-leaning individuals of both sexes. (I am not sure exactly when the decision was announced, but I think it was early in the morning just before the moon left Libra for Scorpio.) In any case, the Libra-Scorpio segment of the zodiac has a high correlation with sexual activities and preferences and attitudes. Libra is also the natural seventh house, the house of marriage. Perhaps more importantly, since the moon enters that section once a month, is the presence of both Jupiter and Venus--conjoined by less than three degrees--in Leo. This happens approximately only once in 12 years. Leo is the sign of love per se, the "natural fifth house" of love affairs. It is extremely romantic. Further, both those planets are trine Uranus in Aries by less than two degrees. Uranus is the planet of freedom. Cole Porter's 1920s song "Anything Goes" has become the law of the land. 

Sobriety and exaltation are strange partners, but they are joined in marriage today.

The sun trining Neptune adds to the wish-fulfillment aspect of the day. It has an international aspect, and a religious-spiritual aspect. Those who attend church, synagogue, or another spiritual group may experience highs which solidify their deepest hopes and realizations. 

At a more mundane level, there are links with those who are friends and who have partners whether or not you yourself have a partner. There is something very helpful about that. Love is free, not bound--Jupiter and Venus trine Uranus in fire signs! Fire means individuality, independence, self-sufficiency. Venus means romantic love and Jupiter spiritual love. Uranus means freedom, so love is not tied, although in marriage of course there are ties and bonds and pledges. I myself see no need for marriage, and I believe that it is on the way out as an institution--but I could be radically wrong. Uranus can do anything, which is why it is such a surprising planet no matter how one thinks one has it figured out. It can decide on marriage, or on divorce, with equal alacrity. Right now, since it is in favorable aspect with the two benefic planets, nobody worries about that. Later, when those two are square to it, people will moan over too-hasty marriages and painful divorces. Oh well. I am Cosmic Piper, I just observe! 

If you have a smidgen of conscious appreciation of your soul's destiny, today you could feel deeply what impels you to labor and endure and not-die, because that destiny is pulling you to manifest it for your sake and everyone's sake and--for G*d's sake!

The intensity of the day centers around home but also young people and hopes for entertainment, which may or may not be fulfilled, or fulfilled uneasily. There can be efficiency in doing what you need to do or have decided upon as a program for the first day of a new Bright Hermetic Epoch! It extends until August 28, by chance exactly two calendar months this time. Primarily it means you can trust your mental processes to see what is reasonable, doable, and likely to succeed, and keep yourself focused in accomplishing things with a minimum of bother or backtracking and circling. Hurray! 

Nobody should underestimate or make fun of the Via Combusta, which is one-twelfth of the zodiac in which the moon resides for about 2.5 days per month. You can see when it was there in the daily data I put at the beginning of each of these reports. It was there when George W. Bush stupidly and criminally began the Iraq war which killed thousands of innocent people and made more than a million Christians homeless. (Yes, that is true, though you will seldom read about it in the media or hear about it in the conventional outlets.) It was there all day Thursday and Friday, and here is a headline from the New York times on Friday afternoon:

The bloody toll prompted new concerns about the spreading influence of jihadists around the globe.

In addition, there was the killing by police of Richard W. Matt, the escaped convict, a day after his 49th birthday. Looking at his horoscope and that of his companion-in-escape David Sweat, I find the following: Both were born with Mars as the Planet of Oriental Appearance (you won't know what that is unless you study a major textbook of astrology, Essentials of Astrological Analysis by Marc Edmund Jones). Both were born when the sun was square Saturn. Sweat also has the sun square Mars; Matt has Mars square Pluto and Uranus. And there is much more I could go into, though it is not a pleasant topic. We must remember that others were born on the same days as these two, in fact probably thousands or tens of thousands in the world's population, and probably only a small percentage of them killed anyone. They learned to handle those difficult, impatient, semi-violent charts in some better way, perhaps in sports or a hard job or some other challenge which brought out their ability to fight. Here is where astrology could be of so much help in guidance counseling, for teachers or therapists dealing with children and young people. Some day . . . 

You can see when Luna leaves the Via Combusta today in the data above. For most of us it is a time when some things can be frustrating or upsetting, or confusion sets in (terrorism is of course a result of deep confusion). But it can be creative and good for investigation--I did a lot of that on Friday as an astrological sleuth.

On Saturday you may give a lot of thought to something you can be doing almost as show business, or something which accents your personality and ability in a colorful manner and attracts attention. Of course, this should be not for the purpose of enjoying the attention but to be of assistance to clients, and employer or an audience. The attention is a valuable contributory side product of being who you are confidently.

However, although you might have good feelings about all that, the lunar indications already discussed suggest that you may have to mute it for now while developing it. People may not seem receptive because they are involved in their own difficult issues.

Moon in the Via Combusta all day (possible confusion or uncertainty, wise to delay some major decisions)

(If you missed yesterday's report it's because I failed to post it on Blogspot and Facebook, though it went out to the mailing list, and is now posted everywhere.) 

The Bright Hermetic Epoch of two months begins tomorrow, Saturday. However, as fate would have it, tomorrow also begins the |karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week. Still, good thinking should prevail. 

Today, Luna forms a Grand Trine in water signs with the sun and Mars in Cancer and Neptune in Scorpio. Sweet! At least it should be good internal feelings about things and people, perhaps even money and possessions. Smoothing out conditions in your home or workplace could be pleasant and effective. 

You might be quite happy alone with memories or speculations. Yet social elements are certainly available especially if you tune in to the subtle side of people telepathically as it were. Probably this is a better social or party day than the rest of the weekend.

These birds feather their nest, well aware that hunters could

Destroy them or their young. They hope they are well hidden. 

A woman playing a lyre wears a wreath of laurels which would not fit

In the nest. A man climbs a step-ladder up a different tree. 

He runs; the wind is against him; his hat blows away, his shirt

This forecast was mailed to everyone on my list last night (Yahoo Groups, Cosmic-Connexion) but I somehow failed to post it here on Blogspot. Here it is finally.

Moon in Libra and the Via Combusta, loss of morale or confusion--of course it is possible to rise above that if one has a sufficiently high consciousness. 

When you turn to these forecasts, I want you to find something helpful, and I don't think you are looking for my musings or rantings about the process I use to write them. Yet I feel I have to unburden myself of that periodically, and hope it might help you understand "where the writing is coming from" and how to react to it or use it.

I've been feeling under the weather, or somewhat depressed, for several days and cannot find an adequate cause for that in aspects to my own chart, which look surprisingly good. That brings up a major topic which the astrological community has not yet recognized as major: The difference in importance between aspects to one's own natal planets (or the natal planets of a client) and the current interplanetary aspects "in the sky" for everyone on planet Earth. These reports are based entirely on the second.

And the reason for that was clear to me decades ago: I saw that these "general aspect," over and over again, "hit" what was going on in my life better than the aspects to my birth-planet positions. This is quite contrary to the way most astrologers think, but I went with my observation and experience and wrote the guides for the twelve signs for Astrology Guide magazine successfully for more than twelve years. I continued posting what I had learned in these reports starting in 1999. 

Now, today, these realizations come back to me big-time! Why do I feel depressed? No aspects to my natal chart explain it. But the little "minor" aspect of Venus septile Saturn (actually the bi-septile this time, which has the same meaning) is with us again and I always feel it intensely. It lasts from Monday the 22nd through Thursday the 25th. There is also Saturn quincunx Mars, very touchy (Sunday the 21st through Thursday the 25th). (I use a two-degree orb for the so-called "minor" aspects, which, within that orb, are in fact "major" by my experience.) 

This Venus-Saturn septile is specially interesting because about five years ago I was in a similar space, trying to figure out why things seemed so "rotten" when the aspects in general were not bad. Then I noticed the Venus-Saturn septile. It is as intense, within its orb, as the Venus-Saturn square or opposition, widely known to be emotionally painful, draining or depressing. "Nobody loves me" or "I don't love anybody" is the general mood. There was confirmation of its current presence on Monday when one individual said she was pulling back from a regular weekly activity because she was feeling depressed, and two others said they were feeling cynical or lacking faith. 

Because of such observations, years ago I decided to add that aspect into my general rating system, giving it a large negative value. I have since dropped a mathematically constructed rating system for the days, because there are so many variables that the human mind trying to balance all the data does a better job than a fixed mathematical model.

Or such is my faith and hope, but it is often very hard. Do I point out the depressing aspects faithfully, and then give the impression that everything is futile so why not give up? That would be negative astrology. Do I point out the good aspects all the time hoping to raise people to appreciate unsuspected possibilities? Yes, that is essential, but as a Capricorn client told me years ago, "Your positive predictions never work for me, but your negative ones always do." So I may look like a foolish Pollyanna if I say every day "Everything is rosy!" 

"Everything is pretty terrible" would be a safe prediction for every day, combined with, "But ultimately everything is good, don't worry!" And then we would not need astrologers or Cosmic Piper. Voila!

But I don't let myself get away with that. I know that the aspects are real and indicate real things going on in the psychic space or interpersonal reality of the human race. So I have to keep trying to sift and sort them every day and say something that makes some sense or could help you or other readers to a better understanding of what is going on and how to cope with it.

For Thursday: Hard because of the moon beiing in the Via Combusta. Easy because it is sextile Venus and Jupiter. Maybe some nice friendly feelings, but you don't know what to do with them or where they could be leading. The uniqueness of people can be distressing (moon opposite Uranus) even when you like them in some ways. 

Next week is when things will be easier.

One flag is furled, another remains invisible

Above the garden whose flowers ennoble Summer.

A triangle with wings flies to the top of the

Pole to release the hidden flag. Voila!

The remnants of a feast lie upon the picnic table where

Imprisoned ones enjoyed a holiday. Caged birds can sing

When they sense a secret tiny freedom. The triangle,

Now misshapen, visits the prisoners ready for it.

The sun reflects its rays in a mirror revealing

A face surmounted by a serpent. The wearer of

The face, competent, has survived major dangers and,

Lifting his hand, stabs all with penetrating light.

Home is important. What you do there releases your intelligence. You peek into mysteries which remain mysteries but partially illumined ones.  

Imprisoned thoughts seek freedom, finding it mostly in pleasures. As the day progresses better things come into view.

If you have an important transaction or decision, it's wise to take care of it today because tomorrow, early, Luna enters the Via Combusta when things are more confusing or embroiled. (Thursday will probably be a "nice" day, though with uncertainties.)

Not everything is difficult with finances, and some things may be remarkably good.

Opportunities abound if we are alert to them, though they require negotiation.

Depending on one's usual set of mind, there could be arguments or fights. Young males are always more susceptible to these, and Mars is involved so we know where to look for them. In addition, older males and women may feel this as a desire to excel and win out over competitors.Nothing is guaranteed, but the attempt is strengthening.

Serious and mature relationships are emphasized, where nothing really is gained but spiritual growth--isn't that enough?

Career matters are set in a cloistered space where you feel protected to pursue your own career path mostly without interference.

Muddled thinking can be remedied by reaching out decisively toward what Sri Aurobiondo called the Supermind, where all contradictions and conflicts are naturally reconciled in an overarching vision of unwalled Truth. Some get glimpses of this, but none fully manifest it at this period of human history.

Yet we may aspire to that.
