Challenge: Most of the day, before the New Moon, could contain failures of judgment and of persistence, either in yourself or those around you. 'A man, richly attired, has lost his foothold and is falling to the ground.' Says Sepharial, 'This signifies the breaking up of families and the loss of their traditions.' By dropping the best of our heritage we descend to the worst of it, in decadence. One way to prevent this is to attend to the arts, the sciences, or other ways of cultivating our finer sensibilities and aptitudes.
Process: 'A man in a garden pruning some trees' is attending to basic routines in a peaceful manner. This could be a clue for us. 'Pruning' could be doing away with the unnecessary in a way which is liberating. Then we could be ready to be more like 'children skating on ice,' enjoying 'successful self-expression as a dynamic to further achievement,' the adventure of life which is more than the static aplomb of someone sitting on the sidelines. We can have some fun.
Blessing: The final day of an Old Moon, before the New as listed above, could be a time for 'lost opportunity regained in the imagination.' Another month has gone, and what have I done? What is better, what worse? Lost opportunities can be regained, in consciousness first and then in reality. We reformulate the patterns of our lives and reestablish ourselves on better foundations. The final degree is much better than it appears on the surface: 'Several sparrows collected together chatter and plume themselves in the dust.' Sepharial says this is friendship, and unselfish happiness in the company of others. We feel attractive, as do they, and many friendships may form. Our honest nature comes out in speech or action and we are gifted in persuasion because feeling sympathetic.
