Challenge: Disappointments seem inevitable in this life, and we should be pleased if they are minor rather than major. 'The sun is rising in his brightness, but the rest of the sky covered with the shades of a lingering night.' Charubel says that 'fate and fortune conspire against this sensitive soul, born out of time and place.' Yet he or she is generous and 'marked with promise.' Perhaps what is frustrating is 'a comet with a very long tail pointing towards the earth.' This could be someone notorious, 'in the hands of evil powers,' if in a high position 'a scourge of nations.' One can take one's pick of possible villains on the world scene. This 'baneful' influence is of course basically inward and psychological so we might need to pump up our confidence, hope and spiritual awareness. The Good triumphs ultimately. We help ourselves by realizing that.
Process: Disappointments might too easily incline one toward escapism, while Mars is square Neptune and Luna in Pisces. 'A man stands with a tankard in his hand, ready to drink. Two others stand apart, talking together with averted faces.' Some may perceive others' weaknesses and gossip about them. 'Low associations' could work harm if one were to drift weakly into 'all sorts of unpremeditated evil' as stirred up by those 'low associates.' The power of selection is a major power. Then one might be more like 'a young woman lying beneath a tree, throwing food to birds gathering around her.' This is geniality, fellow-feeling, and a winning disposition. Generosity showers one's own happiness on others. There could be poetry, music or other fine arts amid peace and concord (Venus sextile Jupiter on one side and Mars on the other).
Blessing: 'A woman in pastel colors carrying a heavy and valuable but veiled load' is anchored in her own privacy, centered in her particular genius. She doesn't care if what she does is not greatly appreciated by the world. She is responsible in her own way, and reticent. If becoming more gregarious, under the influence of the good Venus aspects mentioned plus Luna in Pisces the sign of terpsichore, she might join in 'a barn dance.' This is the opposite of self-reservation, 'plunging into major and rewarding experiences' without inhibition. Richness of living evolves from expressive give-and-take.
