The New Moon of Taurus occurred Sunday at 9:14p PT, Monday at 0:14a ET | 4:14a UT. This first day of a new lunar cycle has a lot of strength. It seems we can face all difficulties gladly if we rise to the spiritual challenge they present (moon opposite Saturn, square Neptune, conjunct Mars and Mercury, sextile Jupiter and Uranus). Energy comes from determination, and taking the long view. 

It's time to be deciding how you will deal with the Mercury Retrograde period pointed out above. It's good for "old business" as many astrologers have recognized: things that need to be caught up or completed; things that have been neglected. But new things are possible also, if they have sprung up naturally out of old ones. 

There seems an erotic energy in Monday, as if you could think of individuals who attract and please you while you work and find that keeps you going more happily and fruitfully, regardless of whether you are seeing them. The |difficult third| usually means a dose of loneliness even while connecting with people as needed. 

Yet the lunar position and aspects suggest communication as a major factor, even communication about difficult matters which need to be "tackled" in order to help someone recover from hard times, illness, or maladjustment. This is possible, with due respect for the other's feelings in every case. His or her beliefs and spiritual orientation are a major part of the formula needing adjustment. These may be very strong influences even if foggy or inarticulate. 

A more playful and relaxed period begins after the completion of Luna's square with Neptune, while she moves to a sextile with Jupiter, beginning around 7:40p PT | 10:40p ET | 2:40a(Tu) UT. 

At worst the day could be a drift into dreaming about or mourning lost loves, old hopes, and factors missing in your life. At best you could see all that with a clear eye, study and learn from it. Those blessed with a knowledge of astrology could look over their past with its aid and detect patterns which help to brave the present and near future. Getting good perspective on that near future could be easier today and early tomorrow than later on Tuesday.
