To an up-to-date girl whose role in society is 

Forward-looking, in stimulating contrast to settled

Wisdom. Yet either of them could grow into a

Woman holding a globe in one hand--total 

Orientation--and a scepter in the other--the will

To experiment. Feminine dominion is secure. 

Upon the battlements of a strong castle on a high

Rock, a crown-bearing flag extends in the wind. 

A masterly character uniting both genders

Enjoys a sphere of influence unlimited.

Yes, let us remember and honor veterans. I'm honoring one I knew years ago, a Texan, and also my Uncle Homer. I told the Texan that I was grateful for his patriotic service even if I disagreed with some of the decisions of his military and political superiors. War should always be a last resort, which was the belief of John Kennedy and of his brother Robert and that brother's son, RFK Jr. who is giving an important speech today in San Diego. Let us pray also that veterans of the Ukraine-Russia war shall not be dead veterans, as tens of thousands are already. The situation is horrific for all of us. In light of the sonnet above, where are the women with "globe and scepter"? They could arrive at a peace settlement promptly.
