Message for Monday 16 May 2022, and Survey of April 26-Jun 19 Epoch
RE-trograde as RE-establishment
Moon in Scorpio—>Sagittarius
|Karmically serious, sobering, challenging third| of this week lasts until late Monday evening
/moon goes void-of-course at 2:29a PT | 5:29a ET | 9:29a UT
until it enters Sagittarius at 4:51a PT | 7:51a ET | 11:51a UT
The moon was full on Saturday evening at 9:15p PT | 12:15a(Su) ET | 4:15a(Su) UT (eclipse in some places)
As I write on Sunday we are in a Difficult Third of the Week while Mercury is retrograde. The sky is dark and it’s rainy and things feel bleak. But not utterly bleak, for Venus and Jupiter are in Aries the sign of hope and fresh beginnings, and form some good aspects. Still, things have been very hard for me and probably for you. I had an enforced vacation from these reports, for a week, because of severe and peculiar internet problems. That involved partly a dispute with a neighbor, which I did not want, and partly two walks in the rain to a place called Computer Love, and back, and paying more than I wanted to pay for what could be just a temporary “fix” but I am happy that I can write this for you today. As for the REstoration of service, fine, but then today just as I booted my laptop to write this, Windows kindly informed me that I should REstart my computer for Updates. So I started that process and took a bath in honor of the moon in Scorpio, a water sign, trine Mars and Neptune in Pisces, another water sign (while square Saturn in Aquarius, often a sign of technology).
My woes, and yours, are partly due to the square of the sun with Saturn, which comes (with the conjunction and opposition) four times each year and lasts about four weeks (about May 1-28 this time). It’s specially hard when Mercury is also retrograde (May 10-June 2). (That’s May tenth, the typeface makes the 0 look like 8 to the uninitiated). The RE period has affected my reading, and an old book by astrologer Sydney Omarr REsurfaced. He says of the sun’s square with Saturn: “one of the most depressing times of the year, especially for health and general business affairs.” “This is a very unfavorable time for work of an initiative nature, and is only fit for working on matters already under way.” I would say yes, in general, but there can be exceptions, when changes are forced upon one. “One is apt to feel tired, draggy and lacking in ‘snap.’” “You may be worried over the health or affairs of some member of your family, or some person intimate in your life, particularly of the male sex.” This has worked out for me in past instances of this aspect, and this time as well.
If you are at all familiar with Mercury retrograde, you know how it correlates with delays, little accidents, or peculiar events which seem demonic, intended to upset your applecart. I have had plenty of those, such as a neighbor preventing me from sleeping at night so I had to move my bed, twice, and in the process had to move many other things and in general feel dislocated.
One thing Cosmic Piper has investigated thoroughly is these approximately two-month Epochs mapped out by Mercury, and he believes that they are “ruled” by the moment of the sun’s conjunction with Mercury at the very center of each Epoch. This Dark or Slow Epoch goes from April 26 through June 19. It is not all bad or upsetting, but the square of the sun and Mercury with Saturn (just discussed) is probably its hardest feature; also the moon and Saturn both square Uranus.
I have found that the symbols for degrees of the zodiac seem to work wonderfully with these two-month charts, which is a different use of them than in the daily reports. Let’s look at one, that of the sun’s and Mercury’s position at the center of the Epoch, 0 Gemini 1. Charubel gives: “A white oval figure on a very black background. The background contains no forms or shapes of any kind." “This is an important degree. When it is prominent one will be unfortunate through marriage. If a female, should she ever become a mother, the labor will be attended with much suffering, and possibly death. A very negative person, open to evil influences.” Not cheery, but notice its correlation to resumed discussion of abortion and all that it implies. As for “unfortunate through marriage,” this fits perfectly the sufferings of a couple I know who are going through a horrid time in their relationship, and that began precisely at the beginning of this Epoch, April 26. As for me, three or four friendships seem “on the rocks’ for very different reasons.
It helps me to see both of the other clairvoyants’ symbols for the same degree. Here is the Sabian one: “A glass-bottomed boat in still water.” This is a curiosity which gives “a readiness of touch with the transient stream of everyday affairs.” A friend was doing this quite consciously a couple days ago, observing people in bars and restaurants as material for a novel. It is comforting to feel that one is in a position (the protective “boat”) to observe life calmly, letting one’s approach to it develop without hurry.
Signor Borelli gives the most promising symbol: “Two yellow flowers growing beneath the shade of a luxuriant tree.” This foretells “a life of security, peace, and prosperity. Friendships prove sincere and advantageous. One will be protected by someone greater than oneself, whose influence will be widespread and beneficent. One’s domestic life will be happy, prosperous, and secure.” Well, that may seem too good to be true, to most of us, while Charubel’s warning seems more realistic. It is good perhaps to make a transition from one to the other, by way of the middle emblem, the “glass-bottomed boat” which allows smooth observation and a calm response toward improving eventualities. The “impossible marriage” becomes possible, or a happy equivalent of it, through growth in perspective and character.
I hope to RE-begin the daily forecast-meditations tomorrow, Tuesday.
Cosmic Piper
