^Skill within Mercy^

Note:  The first draft of this used an erroneous planetary position (I plead innocent, blaming Mercury!) so I had to rewrite it.

Challenge:  Mercury going backward (apparently from the earth) is now right with the sun, the center of this Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch.  The past attracts us, yet we see into its foibles, and so "a dagger is stuck in an old door."  One finds fault with established opinions, whether those of Biden, Trump, or anyone else.  One paradox of the Mercury Retrograde period (until October 18) is that while we gravitate to memories and past events and acquaintances, we also see our own failings and maybe the failings of others, so the "dagger stuck in an old door" is our attempt to REpent, or REconstruct elements in our past living of which we are not proud.  One error could be " a mocking, taunting spirit" which would bring "a series of troubles" if indulged in.  On the other hand, one might more patiently be one of "two men playing chess," using one's refined skills and disciplined understanding to either win or enjoy the phases of life which seem like a game.  

Process:   "A horse saddled and bridled, and galloping away without a rider" could be the extreme of impulsive, improvident carelessness and impatience.  Of that we should beware.  Taking a break, or a day off from work, or other refreshing change in schedule, is fine when within reasonable limits.  If one has calmed down from the running-away stage one might be like "a man at a table with drawing instruments and paper," developing skills akin to architecture, engineering, or painting.  Or one might deeply appreciate someone else's "drawing" skill, such as the amazing and mysterious Leonardo da Vinci.   

Blessing:  "A retired sea captain" has earned the right to relaxation, having made peace with his past and his potentials rolled up together.  He is faithful to what he has learned and so feels secure in unshakable poise.  At a more sublime level, "the Goddess of Mercy enthroned" could be one of the Cathars who believed that Love was the highest virtue and the essence of religion.  The retired captain has poised sea legs, while the Goddess is able to bring merciful aid or redemption to anyone within suffering humanity.
