The Mercury Retrograde period is coinciding with the enormous budget and spending battle in Washington. On Thursday it was compounded by the moon being void-of-course until 8:55 p.m. Eastern Time while Nancy Pelosi struggled to get a vote. She did not, predictably, and as I write on Friday things are still in doubt. I do not believe Congress should adopt or vote on very serious bills with long-term consequences, like this one, during a Mercury Retrograde period.
At a personal level, I recommend that you remind yourself of the MR period (until October 18) frequently each day so that you do not lose heart. Sometimes it seems that life has no purpose, that things are just strange and getting stranger, or that one is losing one's composure, "losing it" in confusion or even dementia. Reassure yourself that this is not true, that instead you are going through a REconstruction phase while Mercury is REtrograde. It even seems that events around you are conspiring against you, as for instance I had trouble yesterday putting on a jacket, getting it all tangled up, when this has never happened to me before with that jacket. It often seems harder to "keep tabs on" everything so it is well to be vigilant with accounts. I had an overcharge on something a few days ago and had to write three emails to get it straightened out, and a REfund. These kinds of things can seem perverse or demonic, so it is wise to keep the faith. Sometimes (not always) dropping something, without worry, and just waiting is the best course. Old tested paths are usually the safest and best.
Saturday:
Challenge: "A wolf standing on the carcass of a horse" would not apply to most of us but it might typify the actions of someone you know or hear about. Some are predatory, avaricious and cunning. One does not want to play the "horse" to their "wolf." As for oneself, it is good to beware (be aware of) unconscious selfishness which has become a habit. The Mercury-Retrograde sense of futility is represented by "a man with a bow in his hand; but he has no arrow." One's abilities (the bow) are real but one seems not to have the means of gaining one's purposes. Perhaps one could ponder on possible means of effecting such purposes (Mars and sun trine Saturn, moon sextile Mercury), while not acting hastily.
Process: Moon square Venus can be attraction to beauty or charm: "A fair woman is looking at her face in a handglass." There can be lighthearted, even frivolous moments in the day. Not everything has to be striving. One can "flaunt one's colors" and not worry if some regard that as foolish. Leo, where the moon sails, does not shrink from self-display. "An X ray" (maybe "a CAT scan" these days) could reveal something embarrassing behind the display, but wouldn't that apply to everyone? Mercury stalled while trine Jupiter (both retrograde) could be brilliant investigation or analysis of things one has wondered about for a long time. The truth will come out through slow, patient inquiry.
Blessing: Venus is sextile Pluto in Capricorn, an earth sign, and the sun is bi-quintile (favorable) and Mercury quadri-nonagen (favorable) Uranus in Taurus, an earth sign, and we have "miners emerging from a mine" no matter how slowly (these planets except the sun are retrograde). Only dogged effort gets at, and gets out, the earth's resources for the use of individuals and humanity. The miners are unsung heroes. All of us are mining "the inexhaustible resources of self" in one way or another and recurrently enjoy our escape from what sometimes seems drudgery. We can fly "a white flag unfurled with a Maltese cross on it" to celebrate our triumph over all obstacles through pure, noble intentions.
