 The Miracle of the Sun, or the Miracle of Fatima, and Astrological Correlations

Most have some familiarity with this remarkable story but I want to revisit it with the aid of the symbols for the degrees of the zodiac I use daily in the Cosmic Piper forecast-meditations. The synchronicity is truly remarkable, a miracle on top of a miracle!

There are multiple sources and books about the Fatima miracle. I was reminded of all of it by a current Netflix show titled simply Fatima. It presents pretty clearly what most of the accounts present, though with perhaps some overdramatization of the criticism and cruelty the children faced. (Or perhaps not; people can be mean-spirited.)

In the spring of 1917, while the First World War, or Great War, was going on---horrendous in its barbarity and cruelty---three young children in Portugal, shepherds living near Fatima, reported seeing a vision of an Angel, and then on May 13 of a Lady whom they took to be the Lady of the Rosary, or the Virgin Mary herself, later called the Lady of Fatima. Their reports gained publicity gradually.

They were told to go to the place on the 13th of every month. Then they were told in July (mainly through Lucia the eldest) that on October 13 there would be a miracle 'so that all may believe.' Of course all this was controversial, but I do not want to diverge into discussion of the secular or atheist opposition, which stretched even to the governmental level when some officials detained the children and interrogated them. The children reported that the Lady had told them to announce that prayer, and saying the Rosary, could lead to an end of the war. This was the message they were to convey.

At any rate, by October 13 the publicity had reached such a level that between 30,000 and 40,000 people came to Fatima to see what would happen.

From Wikipedia: 'According to many witnesses, after a period of rain, the dark clouds broke and the Sun appeared as an opaque, spinning disc in the sky. It was said to be significantly duller than normal, and to cast multicolored lights across the landscape, the people, and the surrounding clouds. The Sun was then reported to have careened towards the Earth before zig-zagging back to its normal position. Witnesses reported that their previously wet clothes became "suddenly and completely dry, as well as the wet and muddy ground that had been previously soaked because of the rain that had been falling". Not all witnesses reported seeing the Sun "dance".'

Those who did authored remarkable reports: '"The sun, at one moment surrounded with scarlet flame, at another aureoled in yellow and deep purple, seemed to be in an exceedingly swift and whirling movement, at times appearing to be loosened from the sky and to be approaching the earth, strongly radiating heat."―Dr. Domingos Pinto Coelho, writing for the Catholic newspaper Ordem'

"... The silver sun, enveloped in the same gauzy grey light, was seen to whirl and turn in the circle of broken clouds ... The light turned a beautiful blue, as if it had come through the stained-glass windows of a cathedral, and spread itself over the people who knelt with outstretched hands ... people wept and prayed with uncovered heads, in the presence of a miracle they had awaited. The seconds seemed like hours, so vivid were they."―Reporter for the Lisbon newspaper O Dia

'As if like a bolt from the blue, the clouds were wrenched apart, and the sun at its zenith appeared in all its splendor. It began to revolve vertiginously on its axis, like the most magnificent firewheel that could be imagined, taking on all the colors of the rainbow and sending forth multicolored flashes of light, producing the most astounding effect. This sublime and incomparable spectacle, which was repeated three distinct times, lasted for about ten minutes. The immense multitude, overcome by the evidence of such a tremendous prodigy, threw themselves on their knees."—Dr. Manuel Formigão, a professor at the seminary at Santarém, and a priest.

"I feel incapable of describing what I saw. I looked fixedly at the sun, which seemed pale and did not hurt my eyes. Looking like a ball of snow, revolving on itself, it suddenly seemed to come down in a zig-zag, menacing the earth. Terrified, I ran and hid myself among the people, who were weeping and expecting the end of the world at any moment." —Rev. Joaquim Lourenço, describing his boyhood experience in Alburitel, eighteen kilometers from Fátima

Reading this, I felt impelled at once to see what was going on in the sky that day. According to one of the major field systems I use in the daily charts, the one which puts the moon's North Node (called Rahu by the Hindus) as the beginning of the first house, the sun was in the 10th sector, at the very top of the chart. It was exactly (within one degree) sextile Mars in Leo, the sign of the sun, in the 8th field of death or regeneration.

The symbols I use in the daily reports are based usually on three planets, the sun, Venus, and Mars, because they move by a degree or a little less or more each day and because experience has proven them to be significant. Signor Borelli's symbol for the sun's position that day is 'a man in the robe of a priest standing in the cloister beneath the light of a window.' Of course it was largely religious people who took these predictions seriously enough to be present at the event, and then they found themselves beneath the 'light' of the sun's amazingly extended 'window.' Charubel's symbol for the same degree is even more explicit: 'The sun shining brightly'! Need I say more? Charubel elaborates: 'A great man; a public character who will be noted in his day and whose presence among mankind will be considered essential.' Whatever that may mean for those born with the sun or a planet at that degree (many things for many people), on the Fatima Miracle day it meant Our Lady herself or whomever she was speaking for, as manifest in the sun's brilliant dance.

Then Mars, in Leo the sign of the sun: Borelli: 'A man running in the face of a strong wind, but making little headway. His garments fly in tatters behind him.' This may not seem complimentary, yet it describes what the thousands of spectators went through, because there was a terrible storm before a sudden calm and the sun-dance. It is dramatized well in the Netflix show titled simply Fatima. As I watched it I wondered what impelled them to press through the storm blowing into their faces. Charubel's symbol for that same degree sets forth what they finally experienced: 'A star surrounded with many rings.' Charubel says this is 'one of those suns which revolve around the great central sun' and of course our sun is one of those suns. 'Thou wilt meet with trials, but fear not, "thy bread shall be given thee and they water is sure."'

Charubel wins this day with his two symbols for the two strong astrological planets (we call the sun a planet for convenience), the sun and Mars: 'The sun brightly shining' and 'A star surrounded with many rings.' Quite remarkable. And that is why I use these symbols: They prove themselves in daily observation.

As for Venus, in early Sagittarius, it is Signor Borelli who gave the most applicable symbol: 'The Goddess of Mercy enthroned.' Obviously on October 13, 1917, this was Our Lady of the Rosary or Our Lady of Fatima. Sepharial in his interpretation gives, of course, beautiful praise to the Goddess, and the keyword Sympathy. The Goddess of Mercy is exactly how this Lady behind the miracle was viewed by those faithful and lucky enough to be there that day.

I had already, since years, noted that Venus was in that same degree on November 24, 1926, which is Sri Aurobindo's Day of Siddhi and the day that his spiritual partner, The Mother, became for all practical purposes the head of his Ashram. Their followers of course believe that she is 'The Goddess of Mercy enthroned;' in fact she often sat on a throne. Siddhi means, roughly, spiritual power, and that is the day, one might say, when both of them attained some pinnacle of assurance in their Integral Yoga done for the world more than for themselves.

I just got on my knees. The confluence of these wonderful or divine synchronicities is another example of why I remain, to the best of my limited ability,

|Karmically serious, sobering, challenging third| of this week is with us until Tuesday evening

Challenge:  We have a five-hour void-of-course time in morning or mid-day.  This is of course a frequent occurrence.  It can work out in interesting ways.  On Friday (when I'm writing this) it was void-of-course in the morning when I tried to print out charts, and my computer was not working.  I had to restart it, twice because the first time a program running prevented it from shutting down.  Then I hit the Print Chart button and no dice.  The printer was out of paper.  Not a tragedy but annoying, so it took me a while to reload with paper I had to select.  Then I finally had the charts, all during the v-of-c.  Now, would it have been wise, if I had thought about the v-of-c, to say, "Well, I'd better wait a couple of hours before printing the charts"?  No, because the printer would still have been out of paper two hours later!  So common sense can trump one's attention to the v-of-c times, often, yet as a matter of fact I had unusual troubles during it.  It's life, but knowing about the v-of-c can save one from some fuming and fussing, because one takes delays or odd events with a sense of humor.

Challenge, continued:   In accord with the v-of-c, we have 'an anchor unattached to any vessel's chain, lying with its hook fast to a rock, the cable broken.'  This is 'terrible trials over which one seems to have little control; a very mysterious ending.'  Since this is just a daily reading, it could be frustration that several things seem impossible to work out at the moment.  With gumption, one might emulate the 'game birds feathering their nests' and be meticulous in accomplishing necessities, 'preserving initiative by utilizing the natural course of things' (Dr. Jones).  'Individuality flourishes whenever able to establish its personal rights over some desirable segment of reality.'  This could include home, friendship, and finances, or 'nest' in a broad sense.

Process:  'Two dogs running, one with a bone, the other in pursuit of it' fits the stellium of planets in Taurus, often a sign of possessions or finances.  Sepharial warns against selfishness, or pursuing unprofitable things, perhaps even lawlessly (or one might observe this or hear or read about it).  Satisfaction with necessities is better than craving for the currently unattainable.  Supplementary or contrary to the 'running dogs' symbol, one is likely to be sensitive to imposition or fraud, not fooled.  One might have great soul force (represented by 'a smelting furnace') and be large-hearted. Or one might be lucky to have such an individual as a friend or relative.

Blessing:    'A homestead,' as in yesterday's reading, might seem far off in time or space, or pure imagination, yet 'one generally accomplishes what one purposes; one's speculations are successful.'  You care about your home and have hopes of improving it, and this is feasible.  As for moving at some point, some might be thinking in that direction, but we are advancing toward the Dark Hermetic Epoch of May 15 through July 6 in which such plans are less likely to work out smoothly, or when revisions are required.  Perhaps preserving what one has is the key right now, as in 'a jewelry shop.'  There can be enjoyment of immediate luxuries of some sort, which are a reflection of  one's 'character and skill.'

Moon in Capricorn

Challenge:  It's Saturday and Lunar aspects are smooth.  Nevertheless we have symbols indicating attempts at getting things settled at an ordinary rather than thrilling level.  'A fork resembling a farmyard implement, with four prongs' could these days be a technological implement or app.  Charubel says it indicates someone 'laborious, unambitious, useful to society, content with his present lot.'  Likewise we have 'game birds feathering their nests,' preparing for the future, establishing security in a meticulous way.  We remain in the Bright Hermetic Epoch of March 13 through May 14 a couple more weeks, an opportunity to firm up one's plans, routines, business approaches, and scheduling.  That could be facilitated today by Luna in Capricorn trine four planets in Taurus, both earth signs.

Process:  Good Venus aspects with the moon, Venus and Neptune could bring a lighter, more pleasurable trend into free moments.  'A woman clothed in gaudy apparel plays with some jewels in her lap.'  She or he could have savoir faire and be sophisticated about human nature, while inclined to excess and ornamentation.  "Good-hearted but foolish and extravagant' does not sound bad, though there might be unfairness through addiction to 'semblances' or mere outer appearances.  The sun's square with Saturn could be an undercurrent of worry, as if we needed to be reacquainted with our 'reason for being.'  A 'white dove over troubled waters' is something or Someone offering  'absolute orientation' or sure guidance.  This 'comes to man from his birth as a consequence of his indwelling spirit' says Dr. Jones.  'Here willy-nilly is freedom of understanding,' together with 'a wholly practical protection, to the precise extent it is accepted.'  

Blessing:  Again we have 'a flower of a bright orange tint, upon which two butterflies rest and fan their wings.'  This is 'a sympathetic and graceful nature desiring peace and concord.'  It wants recognition and affection, and gives it in return, so the keyword is Reciprocity.  At a more solid level, in accord with paragraph 1, some may possess, or prospect, 'a large tract of land mapped out and enclosed with posts and rails, intended for a farm and homestead in the near future.'  Charubel says that this shows 'an adventurer possessed of boundless resources, who generally accomplishes what he purposes.  His speculations are successful.'  So may it be.  We might be pondering such a possibility at a distance, with the Part of Fortune in the 9th house of travel or far-off places, or we could bring the far near through thought or action.

Challenge:  Luna opposite Mars could stir up envy or mischief, symbolized by 'a crow or raven standing upon a water-pot.'  Some are designing and crafty, even wanting to hurt someone, but end up injuring themselves as much or more.  Anyone who is a victim of such individuals has perhaps misplaced his or her trust, being too incautious, confiding in those undeserving.  If such betrayal is extreme it could be indicated by 'a young tree or sapling bent about the middle and thence growing awry.'  But we can learn to confide in and trust the Almighty, and thereby become unbent, redeemed from human unkindness.  

Process:  'Wind clouds and haste' could again represent the Luna opposite Mars syndrome, and other hard features of the chart stimulating us to 'hurry and get on with it before it's too late.'   But Dr. Jones says 'there is a real spiritual lightness here as an outer mark of the soul's fundamental freedom.'  We almost enjoy the wind and turmoil, knowing we transcend it.  But if we went wrong there could be 'an automobile wrecked by a train' because in the driver's hurry he or she neglected ordinary safety rules.  So it is good to put oneself first when there is danger, rather than some goal which seems all-important.  If one reorganizes things adroitly there is Exaltation, the keyword of  'wind clouds and haste.' 

Blessing:  Better indications are abundant, including the trines of Venus and Mercury with Pluto and their sextile with Neptune, plus Luna's trines with the sun and Uranus. 'A man is seated on a throne, holding a scepter, crowned, and with signs of wealth around him.'   This is one who, 'even if born poor, will acquire wealth and fame.'  That is because of shrewdness (the good aspects with Pluto) and watchfulness, putting the service of oneself first.  However, one is likely to please others also in these gains:  'A large flag on a flag-staff is fixed on the top of a high mountain.'  One 'rises from a low degree to eminence,' attracting attention and approval.

Challenge:  Perhaps a fifth-house emphasis could make us inclined to indolence, as if 'a woman, lightly clad, lying in a field, surrounded by violet-colored flowers.'  Sepharial says this shows weakness or incompetence, but I might defend the luxuriating lady by saying Who objects to lying in a field of violet flowers?  Strawberry fields forever!  Well, there you get the Beatles' intimation of drug-induced euphoria, which neither Sepharial nor I recommend.  If one is more attentive to one's business, one could feel more like 'a cat arguing with a mouse,' whether identified with cat or mouse, that is, one might be trying to justify one's position in a business or money matter where there seems imbalance on the side of the powerful.  One has to get the best set of mind to persuade someone to fulfill one's wishes.  

Process:  People are feeling a need to escape from an outworn complex of experience (the sun with Uranus, and both squaring Saturn).  Some of them may be wanting to escape ill health, so we have 'a Red Cross nurse' on the scene.  She has enlisted (Saturn, commitment) to help others who have extreme needs, and so 'becomes momentarily a phase of all-self' in Dr. Jones's words.  This leads to good results for her as well as for them.  With Mercury sextile Neptune and trine Pluto there could also be mental illumination bordering on Sri Aurobindo's Overmind.  'A large star half as large as the moon, but more brilliant, in the west. The surrounding sky is dark.' Charubel says this denotes 'a great genius.'  But the 'dark surrounding sky' could be those who do not appreciate or even see his or her brilliance. 

Blessing:  Indeed one's mind could come up with brilliant schemes, as if it were 'a large water-wheel attached to a corn mill.'  This flexible mind is good at mathematics and has much ingenuity. It could be sharply effective at some business matters.  It prepares the way for 'a newly formed continent' under the aegis of Sol's exact conjunction with Uranus, the planet of originality and freedom. One might feel pleased about the attitudes of children or young people.

^Justification through the Unusual and the Kindly^

Challenge:  It seems that today should be somewhat milder and less worrisome than the last several days, yet we have 'a man beating an ass with a stick.'  This is probably just impatience, arrogance, and possible cruelty in someone else or yourself.  Venus square Saturn is still with us and can, as bitterness and resentment, manifest as anger or unkindness  Of course we can prevent that, if we summon up the patience of a saint.  However, if we need to defend ourselves in some way we might be in 'a cat arguing with a mouse' situation, that is, whether cat or mouse, having to justify our position or our desires, persuading others to cooperate.

Process:  The unusual is our lot while the sun conjoins Uranus, so you might be aware of 'that side of the moon which is never seen by the inhabitants of this planet.'  Charubel says this indicates 'a strange character whom no one will ever understand.'  He or she 'possess powers unknown to the present race' and 'will pursue studies with which the age is not conversant.'  I knew an individual with a planet at this degree who resembled that description.  'He will be a magician, but not of any known type.  His powers are Moon-set! but he is not insane.'  What that may mean for you today is for you to discover.  Hopefully the way these powers manifest will be beneficent, like 'a Christmas tree decorated.'  We can share possessions of beauty as well as more immediately useful things.

Blessing:  Perhaps there will be an appetite for 'the good things of life' defined materially: 'A well-appointed table with the remnant of a feast lying upon it.'  One might be too 'extravagant and reckless' but there is 'richness of heart and camaraderie.'  At a more mellow level we have 'a portly person, walking among pigeons which flock upon the ground at his or her feet.'  One has 'a pacific and benevolent mind' and is 'attractive to young persons.'  One's 'footsteps will be followed in security' and one is happy to minister to others.

~Measuring, Modifying Trusting~

Fire!  It is fascinating how the Via Combusta can be almost literal.  On Monday, an hour before I am writing this, the dreaded smoke detector went off in my building.  I put on my ear plugs and went downstairs out in front of the building to watch the firemen come and find out that a lady on the first floor had been cooking mushrooms too long.  Not a biggie, except for the nuisance and time-waste, but we were in the Burning Way!  At least for the mushrooms.  

Challenge:  'A man  swimming in the river against the current and making no progress' describes how we might feel at times during a mixture of hard and easy aspects and during a |difficult third| just after a Full Moon when there is often a letdown.  'Misdirection of effort' could be 'a straining after that which Nature has not designed.'  Another man stands beside the river, not fighting it but 'collecting bits of wood or straw with a rake,' scratching to himself what he can gain through lassitude.  Not a fantastic example but at least he is using the river rather than fighting it.  Five planets in the two major money signs may impel us to figure out wiser money strategies.

Process:  'A battle between the swords and the torches' could be varying political or other viewpoints struggling to better their opponents.  There is what is practical and there is what is meaningful, and we try to balance the two by resolving our practical endeavors into what is also meaningful.  Ideals should not be compromised, but perhaps modified in the way they can manifest best.  To do that we might need more information, becoming familiar with graduated strata or data, pictured by 'a deep shaft descending into the earth, and right overhead a balloon.'  This could be some unusual method of measurement which resolves worries or obstacles by showing how things are interconnected.  The balloon might be a welcome indication of what is beneath it.

Blessing:   'Two swords form a cross lying on the ground; a man stands on them with a scepter pointing heavenward.'  He is 'a person of peace, who confides in the higher power.'  He may live in 'a small cottage at the base of a high mountain, where jutting rocks appear to overhang the cottage perpetually threatening its destruction.'  But he is 'a truly good person who has implicit faith in the Most High' and is protected.

The Full Moon of Taurus-Scorpio is exact at 8:33p PT | 11:33p ET | 3:33a(Tu) UT

Challenge:  The "nobody loves me" aspect, Venus square Saturn, has been with us for more than a week and shall remain a few more days.  'A woman is seated in an attitude of grief, her clothes disordered and her hair unkempt, holding some faded flowers in her hands; among them are lilies and roses.'  She has had 'fateful inclinations and strong passions subject to the influence of the opposite sex.'  You or someone close to you might have 'weak will but strong feelings apt to overrule reason and experience.'  But the poignance of all this impels soul-growth.  A more active challenge is presented by 'a cavalier fully armed' who could be yourself asserting yourself, well-equipped for emergencies.  You are alive to your own interests and can defend yourself. 

Process:  Charubel introduces us to 'a stranger to the public and not very popular among his friends; incapable of thinking on abstract truths.'  This suggests a failed quest for wisdom perhaps, but any quest which reeks of failure is, if continued, going to approach its goal eventually.  'A woman of Samaria' met an unexpected character at the well she came to to draw water and he awakened her to possibilities she was glad to accept tentatively and hopefully.  Jesus had only to say a few words to kindle fresh spiritual awareness..  

Blessing:  We are called on to be persistent and even indomitable.  This is not a blessing coddling us but one supporting our endeavors.  'A man all bundled up in fur leading a shaggy deer' is a pioneer, a trail-blazer. He repudiates unnecessary limitations and boundaries.  He is imbued with 'the unknown challenge ahead' which also inspires the deer to follow him.  Self-reliance shows the way.  Sometimes the 'deer' one is trying to lead may resist or not understand one's purpose, direction or reasoning.  Then one is like 'an old man attempting vainly to reveal the Mysteries.'  People may not 'get' one's method of presentation.  One needs to be pertinacious, trying to adumbrate the same principles through varying modes of formulation.  The 'old man' cannot transmit his knowledge like a blood transfusion but only keep hinting at it, or plant it like a seed to germinate when it may.

To give myself a weekly break I shall not write the usual report with symbols for today.  I must say, however, looking at the daily chart, that we have lost some of the most helpful or uplifting aspects over the past several days and we have some more challenging ones such as the septile pattern with Mars, Pluto, and Uranus at critical degrees.  Combined with the Via Combusta and Venus's continuing square with Saturn, the prognosis could be worry.  We feel challenged deeply, to the soul perhaps.  Those who go to church or some other spiritual group on Sundays might find that helpful, or else private devotions and meditations.  When all the spiritual teachers tell us that we need to give up desires, we often take that with a grain of salt, until times like this when that advice is especially appropriate.  It's not that everything goes wrong but that we might feel more upset with turmoils or disappointments which ordinarily might not trouble us that much.  

The LORD preserves the simple-hearted;

  I was brought low and he saved me.

Be at rest once more, my heart, 

  for the LORD has showered gifts upon you.  

He has rescued me from death

  and my feet from stumbling.

I will walk in the presence of the LORD

}Reorientation Difficult or Adventurous{

Challenge:  The Venus square Saturn aspect is exact today, often mournful because of love gone awry or missing, or deprivation of one's desires; or else wise renunciation of them.  A strong septile pattern involving Mars, Pluto and Uranus seems fateful, requiring patient reorientation in the light of the Eternal's demands on us.  'An anchor unattached to any vessel's chain, the cable broken' suggests the danger of losing connection with one's spiritual Source, which would result in 'terrible trials' and mysterious disappearance.  One might mourn someone else, as 'a widow at an open grave.'  We need to place our value and identity in the Spirit, not in matter, though maintaining our bodies as well and as long as possible.  When some outer links are gone, there remain invisible links to which we can be affixed through reorientation.  

Process:  The same unusual septile pattern could reveal in us our dissatisfactions and cravings.  'Two dogs are running,one carrying a bone, the other in pursuit of it.'  We might 'pursue unprofitable things' rather than attain those near at hand.  Some selfishness is normal but when it gets twisted into envy things go awry.  It would be better to feel that 'our labor is its own reward,,' as 'a man of benevolent countenance near a cottage chopping wood. Orchards are filled with fruit and a sheep is grazing.'  Rather than grabbing someone else's stuff we cultivate and maintain our own.  

Blessing:  Not all is effort.  'A man handling baggage' could be planning a trip, or be employed at an airport, or he could just be ourselves industrious in doing necessary things, 'this goes here, that goes there.'  It is exhilarating to be in control of small things for they represent or even embody larger ones.  If all that is squared away, then one might be in 'a boat on a large lake or big river; two men rowing in it.'  Charubel says this is a fondness for adventure, with a speculative bent of mind.  One desires company and changefulness.

Moon in Virgo

Challenge:  The moon in Virgo and other factors could bring that sign into prominence as the 'work' sign or of getting things in order.  'A fork like a farmyard implement with four prongs' represents whatever instruments we use, including technological ones, to carry on our labors in a normal, unambitious way.  Being useful while contented is important even on a Friday.  Our ways of measuring our projects could be sharp, as if we saw them as 'a large clock with weights in sight, on which is a large dial-plate, with hours and hands complete.'  In other words one could be extremely sensitive to timing, to cause and effect, shrewdly observing and directing the dynamics of one's activities.  

Process:  Venus square Saturn is cautious.  'A furled and an unfurled flag displayed from a vessel' suggests using different roles or 'hats' for different projects.  'Practical allegiances' can be changed or revised according to whatever focus is needed.  This does not mean dishonesty but adaptability.  One is a step ahead of whatever connections or loyalties to which one might have to adapt.  'Window-shoppers' are using Venus's conjunction with Uranus to be free in their choices.  One can know in advance whether a choice will be in line with one's desires, by visualizing and comparing varying options.  Then one's choice is liberating.  (These first two paragraphs together might result, on the negative side, in diffidence, uncertainty or changeability in a way which frustrates definite fulfillment.)  

Blessing:  I hope your weather will support this:  'A well-fruited vine hanging upon an old wall beneath the sunshine of a summer day.'  Signor Borelli's symbols often bathe in the luxury of such rusticity.  'Tender sympathies and strong attachments' could be yours. 'One will have enough of the good things of life and use them wisely.'  There are strong sympathetic associations to 'country and kin.'  One stays in the same place for a long time.  There could be 'a flower of a bright orange tint, upon which two butterflies rest and fan their wings.'  Anxious to please, one is also anxious for recognition and affection.  One connects with those 'similar in character to oneself.'  The heavens smile upon reciprocity.

Challenge:  The chief problem is probably Venus's square with Saturn, exact now within three degrees, plus her conjunction with Uranus, exact.  This can be disappointment in love and sudden rejection, or flight from a friendship or relationship.  'A lion in captivity, tormented' suggests that some will feel their lion-like powers are being restrained while they suffer as a consequence.  I'm for the lion, but Sepharial suggests he (a human of course) might be to blame, with his own sedition, violence and wrath turned back against himself.  Our attempts to improve things are never futile if well-thought-out, but we might succeed only in 'a scrawl or flourish of the pen,' that is, feeble attempts which disappoint through lack of judgment or failure to adapt to conditions required.

Process:  'A ram standing alone, looking toward a flock of sheep in the distance' is said by Charubel to be someone with no female qualities or sympathies, just the male.  However, he is looking toward the sheep so wants some companionship of some sort.  We might get insight by combining this with 'a wolf following a sheep along a secluded pathway' showing attempted conquest through craftiness or intrigue.  This is seductiveness which seems harmless but could, by deceptiveness, be hurtful in some way.  One needs more sympathy and actual compassion for anyone one is pursuing in any way.  There could be fated or fateful 'success' in some unusual connections or hookups, with Mars septile both Venus and Uranus, whether straight or gay.  (I should say, though, be careful.)

Blessing:  Apart from the harsh long-lasting Venus aspects mentioned above, others are good, including Luna's trines to Sol, Mercury, Venus and Uranus.  'Bathing beauties' are among us everywhere, displaying their charms whether seductively or innocently.  Natural endowments are self-assuring.  The radiance of the body brings desires and interests to a level of worthiness.  Charm shared is ineffable and unspoken.  Whether we feel we possess it or merely have faith that we can get it, 'the rainbow's pot of gold' is close.  We have the incentive to pursue our hopes through 'the universal matrix of life' represented by the rainbow, and it leads to our targeted booty in ways we may not fathom.

Challenge:  'A new moon on a very dark sky' is said by Charubel to indicate a very gloomy life.  It coincides now with the 
|karmically difficult third| of this week.  Even worse we have 'an execution' suggesting a crisis in which someone may be blamed for what someone else has done.  The Innocence Project works with those wrongfully accused of crimes and exonerates many of them.  Further personal meanings of this could be that one has to face a crisis, perhaps involving injustice, by maintaining one's courage until the crisis passes in normal order.

Process:  Mars septile Venus can indicate fated or fateful, unusual connections between the sexes, or within them if eroticism is involved.  'A wolf is following a sheep along a secluded pathway.'  This could be crafty intrigue or deception, or maybe just playful seductiveness.  One might have powers of persuasion, or meet someone who does, which is not a problem unless deception is part of the package.  More happily, 'a Christmas tree decorated' suggests sharing with others 'through the recurrent birth of a world spirit.'  Home is where you find it.  Displaying one's possessions or enjoying others' display of theirs can have a vicarious, spiritual implication.  

Blessing:  But it's spring, so we also have 'steps up to a lawn blooming with clover.'  We have our personal and business affairs pretty well in hand, at the center of a Bright Hermetic Epoch, and feel hopeful that things are working out.  We 'entrench ourselves in beauty and order' by cooperating with the flowering universe.  Peope's natural endowments are ours to behold, 'bathing beauties' who 'stand radiant and reliant among the total of their fellows.'  Familiar desires and interests shared open into a beachhead of charm for all.

^Tensions Release when Plans are Definite^

|Karmically serious, sobering, challenging third| of this week is with us until early Thursday

Challenge:  Pessimism could wrap us 'in the dark mantle of doubt and misgiving' as if we were beneath 'a gloomy sky filled with scudding clouds while a flight of blackbirds struggle against the wind.'  'An endless succession of thoughts and schemes' could lead to nowhere because of lack of confidence.  We should not let ourselves be thrown easily off the track, but maintain continuity in our designs.  Concern about finances could make one feel as if one were 'an old man, poorly clad, standing by the side of a river, collecting bits of wood and straw with a rake.'  

Process:  The discomfort of luna squared to four planets in Taurus could arouse anger and cruelty in some, such as 'a man flogging a boy with a whip.'  At worst this could be a despot in an official position.  Rather, all need to be aware that transforming forces are surging through humanity, making for high energy to be used constructively rather than destructively.  'An electrical storm' is dramatized catharsis impacting events and people, discharging a complex of strain.  We do not need either to lose our aplomb or become overly timid.  

Blessing:  We remain at the center of this Bright Hermetic Epoch lasting until May 15, with Mercury joined to the sun and both sextile Mars and Jupiter, so effective plans are likely to be stewing or fully cooked in your consciousness.  'The first mockingbird in spring' is articulating aspirations for you, whether he be a singer, musician, writer, inspiring public figure or personal associate.  You feel quickened to the real stature of your role in life.  If we rise beyond the tensions of previously mentioned symbols, we can 'stand upon two swords forming a cross on the ground, with a scepter pointing heavenward.'  We would be invoking peace, and 'confiding in the higher power' which can settle disputes, conundrums, and uncertain plans.  Then the crossed swords no longer want to duel but provide a balanced foundation on which to base our hopes.

~Awakening to Resourcefulness~

Challenge:  'A man declared bankrupt' is any of us realizing that we are in need in one way or another.  It could be that some need to apply for government assistance as available for the asking.  Or there could be issues regarding what is owed to or by a friend or relative.  One might feel that one has been cheap and therefore seen as 'bankrupt' by someone.  A more somber symbol of the day could relate to Venus's growing square with Saturn, 'a man being tortured.'  Actual torture is the worst thing human beings can do and every day I pray for all cruelty to disappear from the mind and heart of humanity, replaced by kindness everywhere.  I invite you to join me in that prayer.  

Process:  'A woman of Samaria' refers to the woman Jesus met at the well who was interested in him and listened to him attentively.  The keyword Awakening refers to her realizations gained through hearing him and inviting others to listen.  The moon is exerting pressure on our hopes to make them more impersonal or spiritual.  The sun has entered Taurus, and Signor Borelli gives its first symbol as 'A woman of pleasant face, neatly attired, stands holding a sword pointed toward the earth.  Her head is kissed by the meridian sun, her face turned toward the north.'  (This last might refer to the sun's being apparently more north of us in the summer months.)  Sepharial says that the woman has to contend with disputes or strife, but her self-defense ultimately prevails through native force and diplomacy.  We succeed in self-preservation.

Blessing:  Real sources of strength are opening up to us.  We have 'illimitable depths on which to draw,' symbolized by 'a clear mountain stream.'  Our resourcefulness pays off through 'unswerving fidelity to some definite course of action.'  Then we could enjoy the complacence or contentment of 'a well-favored cow grazing in a park in the shade of two trees.'  Our natural qualities, well-directed, lead to wealth.  Our physical manas, beauty and charisma make for happy attachments.
