Forecast for Friday 24 December 2010

Friday 24 December 2010

*Worshipful Fulfillment*

This to many feels like the most sacred day of the year. I have never hidden my faith in the Lord, Christ Jesus. He has done more for me than any embodied human being, not only directly and invisibly but indirectly through His followers who have helped me. And that is all the proof I need that He is real and the Lord.

At the same time, these forecasts are written for anyone, Christian or non-Christian. But unlike the paid writers for the standard media, I do not have to hide my faith or my knowledge because, by those who do not know, it is labeled "religious" or "sectarian." The New York Times, perhaps the best newspaper in the world in terms of accurate and complete reporting on politics and international affairs and many other topics, fails dismally with religion, frightened to death of the subject and publishing only timid articles by unbelievers timidly admitting that believers might not be totally crazy. That is the Achilles heel of the New York Times, and of most other standard media---its refusal even to report on or publish the views of theists, for fear of offending their atheist-agnostic-humanist base.

Even Moses was forbidden to enter the Promised Land because of his failure (which hardly looks like failure to us) to uphold the holiness of the Supreme Lord at a critical moment.

Today, Friday, looks fairly smooth, although we ought not to forget that we are in the center of the Dark Hermetic Epoch, with Mercury retrograde, and therefore so many things are uncertain. I always point out at such times that irrevocable decisions are unwise. You can decide whether to wear this pair of shoes or that, obviously, but to quit a job, move (unless the move was thoroughly planned before the period), lash out in anger at a partner and separate, or, at worst, commit suicide (as pitiable Mark Madoff did on December 11), is forbidden by this astrologer.

Daily devotions are essential, whatever your religion or non-religion. That is, if you believe in nothing but nothing (as the Buddhists do, deifying Nothing), even then you probably have some spiritual or semi-spiritual practice which holds your psyche to its center of living purpose. (Although one Buddhist told me that purpose was a mistake.) (A serious and devout Christian might agree, if the purpose is not of G*d, so in that case the sine qua non is to divine God's will.) (Which would be foolishness to the atheists and humanists.) (As would be these reports.)

Are you still here? Foresight and insight into others gives you commanding power. You get into their minds, as it were, and then perceive that they have their own balance which needs to be preserved for their equilibrium. Not material but spiritual intoxication accentuates happy response to the inner equality which invokes real bliss.

There are depths in this day, as well as restrictions, which you "grok" when you feel the spiritual heaviness in the atmosphere as the angels pick up their trumpets and harps. Human affections can disappoint, repeatedly, but divine love is constant. You are in touch with people, through correspondence, phoning, texting or whatever, who are entering into new-yet-old phases of their lives. You might be instrumental in aiding the crossing of a frontier.

Rebellion against one's job or position, boss or administrator, government or spiritual teacher, has its place, as a way of finding out who you are and how you need to relate to these "superior" influences. Such kvetching and rebellion can only go so far, and could be dangerous at this time (paragraph 4). You might know someone who is retired, or mature and secure in a position you admire, or even gone from this world but strong in memory or in a book written, whose poise is a constant lesson and inspiration, reawakening you to potentials.

The ornamental and beautiful are everywhere at this season. There is hospitality, often in surprising ways, the more welcome the more unexpected. A large group of people may get together, even if there are confusions and backtracking in the way they do it.

We look to the East toward the Star of the Saviour. There is adventure in the purity of hazardous service, reawakening us to self-offering. Ideality is magic when living and alive, the fire of love bringing peace and salvation to humanity.

There is also justice, the inevitability of changes not in accord with one's desires. This can happen through what appears to be jealousy in people, or suspicion or desire for revenge. At a time like this, joking about all that could be the right response, evoking the healing astringency of laughter.

Order and beauty secure fulfillment. There is glad repetition of G*d's assurance to humanity through the glorious announcements of the angels, the quiet adoration of the Madonna, and the meekness of the beasts worshiping at the manger.
