Yes, let us remember and honor veterans. I'm honoring one I knew years ago, a Texan, and also my Uncle Homer. I told the Texan that I was grateful for his patriotic service even if I disagreed with some of the decisions of his military and political superiors. War should always be a last resort, which was the belief of John Kennedy and of his brother Robert and that brother's son, RFK Jr. who is giving an important speech today in San Diego. Let us pray also that veterans of the Ukraine-Russia war shall not be dead veterans, as tens of thousands are already. The situation is horrific for all of us. In light of the sonnet above, where are the women with "globe and scepter"? They could arrive at a peace settlement promptly.

 The holiday weekend starts in confusion, on Friday, with the moon both void-of-course all day and imposing the |karmically difficult third| of the week through its opposition with Saturn. That continues through Saturday, so Sunday and Monday may be the happier days of the holiday period. Friday and Saturday could b more low-key and possibly lonesome.

How does one avoid politics when the world's fate is hanging by a thread because of the insane Ukraine-Russia war, which does no one any good except maybe defense contractors? The warlike Mars-Pluto-Jupiter T square continues this week, but does not give the Biden administration an excuse for deliberately prolonging the war, which it is doing. The experts on the war are not the clueless mainstream media, which repeat suicidal government propaganda, but: Glenn Greenwald, Saagar Enjeti, Krystal Ball, Jeffrey Sachs, Judge Andrew Napolitano and his podcast guests Alistair Crooke, Col. Douglas MacGregor, Ray McGovern, Larry Johnson, Col. Daniel Davis, and others. The more people who listen to these experts, the more likely we are to prevent World War III. 

We could hope that people will get smarter when the next Bright Hermetic Epoch begins on Thursday June 1, which is also the day when (supposedly) Congress much reach an agreement to prevent government default.

They have courage, nobility, energy and endurance. The one who comes to mind at present is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 

If such individuals do what they can to save us, and Divine Grace abounds, we could find ourselves in a fertile garden under the full moon. That could be "high reward in worldly goods and exceptional self-integrity in using them." The keyword is Ultimacy. May we live so as to arrive at it.

P. S. I am convinced that the Dark Hermetic Epoch has, this time, all the features of Mercury Retrograde. Yesterday I tried a Zoom meeting and it was a mess, the directors saying pointless things and others, like myself, excluded from saying anything or proposing questions which might have rescued the meeting from futility. Then today (Wednesday as I write) there was the fiasco of Ron DeSantis's attempt to launch his Presidential campaign on Twitter with Elon Musk, with technical glitches aplenty so that apparently the whole thing was an imbroglio for 20 minutes. Embarrassing for both men. I have had a "glitchy" day also although I got a few major things done. At the cost of peace and rest. I had to reply rudely to a friend's text saying I was too busy to think about anything but shall reply tonight I hope. There has been no apparent progress on the Debt Ceiling crisis which theoretically must be solved by June 1, exactly according to the Dark vs. Bright Epoch schedule! A neighbor now is making stupid noise outside my window. The suicidal war in Ukraine drags on, to the shame of the human race because the U. S. could have pursued peace negotiations a year ago. Peace! to you.

1 The debt ceiling issue, and possible default of the U. S. government, is to come to a head by June 1. The Dank Hermetic Epoch ends May 31 and a Bright Epoch begins June 1.

2 In the past week there was a major loss by Ukraine of Bakhmut, and Joe Biden says he is escalating the futile and dangerous war by sending F-16s to the Ukrainians, and much more, and training Ukrainians to fly them in the U. S.! This is escalating into a war between the U S and Russia, which is SUICIDAL. Listen to what Col. Douglas MacGregor says. He knows. Listen to what Larry Johnson says. He knows. Listen to what Tony Shaffer says. He knows. Listen to what RFK Jr. says. He knows.

MacGregor says that the muddy conditions preventing Ukraine from its "spring offensive" should clear up by early June. That is when the next Bright Hermetic Epoch begins, as I have pointed out here at least 30 times in the past couple months. Also the debt celling issue is scheduled to be settled (?) by early June. As for the war, neither MacGregor nor any serious expert believes that Ukraine can win but that this s a war of ATTRITION which means that Ukrainian boys and men are being SLAUGHTERED because of Joe Biden's insistence on provoking the Russian bear in a futile and stupid manner.

3 The U. S. pre-primary season is under way and it has been gummy and draggy or peculiar and weird, or any other adjective you want to apply. Ron DeSantis has held back entering the race until today, which may or may not have been smart, and the DHE ends June 1 in about a week, and some people think Donald Trump will re-enter Twitter soon which would be a big move. My definitely preferred candidate is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who entered the race shortly after the DHE began, on April 19. I believe that his campaign will pick up speed in June and I look forward to his big speech in San Diego on Memorial Day.

4 What do you think about how things have been going in your own life? My presumption is that most of us have felt things to be draggy and difficult since April 6 but that by Wednesday June 1, a week from now, it will be easier. Do you agree? Meanwhile one might say that things are "slowly" getting smoother, as Mercury picks up speed, but I actually believe that there is a sharp division between the Dark and Bright Epochs (May 31 or June 1 this time).

That's all I want to say because I am feeling this as a heavy "transition time" as indicated by the news headlines. For example, it's just been revealed that Elon Musk may be interviewing Ron DeSantis on Twitter when DeSantis enters the ace Wednesday. A volcano is erupting near Mexico City, consistent with the near-exact opposition of Mars with Pluto (interior of the earth) while both square Jupiter, and Mars in a fire sign. That major T square also correlates to the pivotal taking by Russia of Bakhmut, and Biden's horrible decision to escalate the war rather than seek peace negotiations. The sane man in all this is Bobby Kennedy.

This is the final week (Saturday May 20 though Friday May 26) of the Dark Hermetic Epoch (slow Mercury) which began April 7. It continues to have the features we associate with Mercury Retrograde: delays, obfuscations, uncertainties; and on the positive side, spiritual awareness or psychic phenomena.

It is hard to avoid politics because when you combine the DHE of REview with Jupiter square Mars, said to be the harshest of all astrological aspects by CEO Carter one of the finest astrologers of all time and one of the top ten writing in the English language, we have the debt ceiling and possible default, we have possible impeachment, endless lawsuits amounting to "lawfare," and an insane and possibly planet-destroying war in Ukraine-Russia. To keep up with the intricacies of all this seems too much for one human being but I suggest Glenn Greenwald's System Update as the most important news source we have at this time. Oh, and also the RFK Jr. Podcast.

The coming week? More of the same? In a nutshell, yes. I don't see relief at this point, except that the quest for justice, after years of injustice, is continuing, and that is heartening.

Some symbols from the chart for this week: "A man lying on the ground while the sun is setting" signifies final moments of life when one judges oneself. Of course it is wise to do this ahead of time to be prepared. But "a serpent is standing erect within a circle of fire." He will "take life at the crisis and turn in back from the Gates of Death" through exceptional wisdom and knowledge. This he may gain from "a very old-looking book or ancient record." There could be abstruse studies and profound scholarship. That could set right any misdirection and inconsequent wandering, which would thrust one into obscurity until one recovered one's bearings.

As for "enemies," some may seem like a raven or crow on a water-pot, screeching at oneself out of envy or petulance or sheer malevolence. Others may seem like a tiger in view of a tethered horse. Or one may try to rescue someone else, or others, from that tiger, as in a political dispute, war, or lawfare. Wearisome. However, one's mind is sharp, like the profile of a man with one eye in view who is a savvy observer or detective. One's mind is as flexible, ingenious and mathematically exact as "a water-wheel attached to a corn mill." Further, in moments of leisure and meditation one enters "a niche wherein there is a lamp and a missal." The secrets of nature are revealed through long and patient study. Devotion sustains vigils and studies which others would have abandoned. Therefore one has gained the illumination of that "serpent standing erect" who "takes life at a crisis and turns it back from the Gates of Death."

May our world and its people acquire such mastership speedily.

The week-ahead report, coming up tomorrow, will focus more on long-term trends, but for now: I am feeling the DHE (until June 1) as if it were Mercury Retrograde itself. And in politics there is virtually nothing but REview of the past, in the very important Durham report which totally trashes the fake "Russiagate" conspiracy nonsense directed against Donald Trump for years. Glenn Greenwald's report on this, in his System Update, is the best you will find anywhere. He is not a Trump supporter but a Truth supporter. I haven't heard the rest of Glenn's latest podcast yet, in which he shall REcall and REminisce about his partner-husband who passed on a few weeks ago.

Impeachment is the REcall of a government official and some Republicans are instituting such procedures against Biden as well as his FBI Director and Attorney General. Getting rid of what is baneful is one of the normal procedures of any Dark Hermetic Epoch (through May 31).

Friday:

Is cruelty God at his worst, or humanity torturing God?

The symbols for Wednesday were terrible. It is not clear exactly what they were referring to, but I think it is awareness of serious issues, such as the debt limit discussions and possible default. And the main headline in the Wall Street Journal is:

"Young Americans Are Dying at Alarming Rates, Reversing Years of Progress

"Car accidents, homicides, suicides and drug overdoses have pushed up death rates for children and teens in the U.S."

Some will say this is partly because of vaccination, others will point to other villains, but it is a major concern. On other fronts, important U. S . government leaders are threatened with impeachment, justly. At the personal level, it has been a stressful day for me.

Thursday:

Groan! I do not write these reports to be popular. I try to be as honest as possible, while admittedly slanting things toward the positive because I never want to be a voice of despair.

However, three of the four symbols for Wednesday (determined by a regular formula) are unremittingly dismal So I won't try to weave them into an uplifting sonnet.

1. "A dark cloud passing over a part of the earth, charged with elemental shapes most hideous and repulsive." --Charubel. "Dabbling in Black Magic would terminate in utter ruin." Who is your candidate for Black Magician these days? Some politicians? The doctors who mutilate children in the name of "gender de-affirmation" (as I call it)? Big Pharma? Of course, them. And others, determined by one's personal value system. Is this Putin's "dark cloud," or Zelensky's, or . . . Many are beginning to believe that demonic forces have been unleashed.

2. One of the worst of the 1080 symbols: "A horrid sight! A naked man mutilated, blood running down his body." --Charubel This is a degree of physical or mental torture. Julian Assange is said to be suffering solitary confinement, which is torture. That is just one example out of, unfortunately, thousands or hundreds of thousands. Let us pray for an end to all such cruelty. To a much lesser degree, many of us feel we are tormented by circumstances, or duties, or betrayal, or . . . The opposition of Mars and Pluto is squared to, from both ends, Jupiter and the moon, and this can be violence or cruelty or other trials and tribulations, stemming from envy, jealousy, resentment, vengefulness, and so on.

3. Perhaps the worst of the 1080: "A dagger lying beside a skull." --Signor Borelli. Sepharial's interpretation: "One of fatal tendencies, destructive to a degree; inclined to cruelty and oppression. He will need to hold his passions in strong check or some fatality will surely come upon him. The nature is melancholy and taciturn; yet silently discerning, and capable of keen feelings. Jupiter was at this degree on 9/11/2001 and four days before that while an evil plan was being set in motion.

4. The Sabian symbol for the day: "A Muse weighing twins." We REcalibrate and REevaluate things during this Dark Hermetic Epoch extending to May 31. There is "an effectiveness of judgment irrespective of momentary contradictions on every hand."

Some say they are perplexed by the sonnets. All I can say is that I believe strongly that the symbols they set forth do have a solid link with events of the day. Free-associating to them can bring illumination, especially if one does that both early and late in the day.

I'll have more to say about the vaunted *Best Vacation Dates * later, but please note that on further study I have changed the dates to September 14 through October 28, still six weeks but a little later in the year. I have some caveats about that but shall post them later.

Mercury turns direct Sunday May 14 at 8:18p PT | 11:18p ET | 3:18p(M) UT but is still moving very slowly, so we remain in a Dark Hermetic Epoch until June 1. All that was discussed thoroughly in the weekend report. Perhaps today some issues at least will be clearing up partially.

It is not surprising that I dwell on Mercury Retrograde (April 21-May 15) and the Dark Hermetic Epoch (April 6-May 1) because I am the pioneer in seeing that these periods determined by the relations among the earth, the sun and Mercury are PRIMARY in our human consciousness and our experience of TIME.

Briefly, my thesis: There are two kinds of time. They are almost evenly divided: Two (and a little more) months of Bright Hermetic Epoch when Mercury is moving quickly ahead, and two (and a little less) months of Dark Hermetic Epoch when Mercury is moving slowly or backward.

Bright Time is more easily described; it might be called Normal or Smooth or Non-Obstructive. Dark Time is more complex and interesting: It is when we can go into other dimensions, in our minds and thoughts and dreams, and investigate the past through memory, and interact with the "dead" as well as the living, and attain, without even trying, spiritual realizations which are hard to put in words, or impossible to codify though they are very real. It might be called "Poetic Time" while the Dark Epoch is "Prose Time."

Some individuals have told me that they prefer the Dark or Poetic Epochs. I also appreciate them, though it is harder to get a grip on outward factors then.

Example: You want to start a new business or project. Suppose that it is near the end of a Bright Epoch, with the Dark starting in a few days. Then my advice is: Figure it out slowly, toy with it, tease it, write down possible approaches on a yellow pad, but take your time throughout the Slow or Dark or Poetic Epoch of two months. How far you can go in planning is up to you, but setting things in motion might be very difficult or impossible. You might chat with people about it but they will probably be either uninterested or indecisive. They might be inspiring and enjoyable and help you in that way, but "the devil in the details" is likely to be taunting you.

So then what? 1. Don't give up, but also 2. Don't rush anything. Back to the actual or figurative yellow pad or drawing board. Pray. Let yourself have more "down time" than usual, when you can daydream or meditate.

Then, when Mercury turns direct, you may have your plan much more clearly developed, yet still it may not be ready to implement, or only partially. That depends on the particular situation, but you should not be disappointed if it takes another couple weeks to work things out. Right now, Mercury will turn direct on Monday May 15 but the DHE shall remain until Thursday June 1, more than two weeks later. This two-week interim period is half Dark and half Bright, but it should facilitate gradual development of plans which will be fulfilled during the Bright Epoch of June 1 through August 3.

Are things always that clear-cut? Maybe not, but as a rule of thumb this has not failed me over the years.

Of course there are other important astrological factors, especially the aspects among the planets. Today I felt the pressure of the current aspects I wrote about in the Friday report (Mars square Jupiter while opposing Pluto), in the world as well as in myself, and thought "When will we have a smooth, placid time, a good vacation month?" So I looked ahead at each weekly chart for the next few months and here is what I believe:

Maybe the best time for a vacation would be the entire month of September as well as the first half of October. I was looking for a combination of smooth aspects and find them in those six weeks o so. Problem? All of September is within a Dark Hermetic Epoch, but that is the Poetic Epoch and so it could be good for a vacation. If, because of Mercury retrograde or slow, you should have a flight delayed, for example, or other confusing factors, you could, knowing about the DHE, relax and appreciate whatever happens.. Maybe while you are delayed you will meet someone who turns out to be a friend or who at least colors and gives fresh life to your vacation. Or you might take an unexpected side trip or detour which opens up something wonderful.

That's about the best I can do in terms of planning a vacation this year. Or if you remain at home I think you'll find those six weeks wonderful for happy experiences in your usual haunts. It will be a good time for romance, for Venus and Mars will be in al long-lasting sextile through that whole month-and-a-half.

As for this weekend, as pointed out in the Friday report it is within the |difficult third| of this week, until about noon Sunday. If you choose between Peace and Adventure, I would choose Peace, but that does not mean you cannot enjoy yourself. Conscience is active and so if you spend some time doing something your conscience approves that will bring deep peacefulness.

As for the coming week, Saturday May 13 through Friday May 19, I cannot honestly say it will be any easier than last week, although Mercury turning direct on Monday-Tuesday should help clarify things. We have still the fateful square of Mars with Jupiter while it opposes Pluto. The Ukraine war drags on. Peace signals? I hope so; maybe; or maybe not until June. Trump and Biden both have legal troubles and there is what many call an invasion at the southern border. Disruption is a DHE word and the immigrants feel even more disrupted than the American communities being asked to harbor them. All this "drags on" so all I can say is that the issues involved may be somewhat clarified, though the suffering of "bad karma" on all sides continues. Saints, or those devoted to spirituality and prayer, have the duty of trying to uplift their sisters and brothers.
