}Roused to Extemporization{
A mole. Great individuality; very reserved. Very determined. One who hates the public. c
An old adobe mission. Durability. s
A dark and lonely pool overhung by wooded banks. Simple, natural life. Poetic, visionary. Contemplation. b
Indians making camp. Extemporization. s
A man walking beside a cow, his hand on her back, bringing her home from the pasture at eventide. c
A woman drawing two dark curtains aside. Daring. s
A man lying upon a sheaf of corn, asleep, with viands at his side. Wasted in dreams, visions, vain projects. Lassitude. b
Someone lying on a sofa, with plenty to eat at his side, dreaming of what he might be, while also despising everyone else with distaste (the mole), is in a spiritually dangerous position. There is no hope for him until there is a change of consciousness.
Fortunately the "old adobe mission" could remind him of his better aspirations. Then the woman drawing aside the curtains could remind him of unfulfilled desires or affections which also stir him to get up and do something. Thereupon he realizes he needs to "make camp" or extemporize, make his life at least a temporary structure where something interesting could happen.
If then he lapses, at the end of the day, into the "farmer" bringing his cow or body home, back to his sofa or bed, it will be with something done and lively memories to spur him to further adventures tomorrow.

Cosmic Piper
Surprised by a blind joy with groping hands
Like one who wakes to find his dreams were true,
Into a happy misty twilit world
Where all ran after light and joy and love
She slipped; there far-off raptures drew more close
And deep anticipations of delight
For ever eager to be grasped and held
Were never grasped, yet breathed strange ecstasy.
