(Yesterday's New Moon was not "the New Moon of Leo" as I reported because it occurred in the penultimate degree of Cancer just before the moon entered Leo. I got ahead of myself.)
With the help of a New Moon (yesterday) it is possible to feel like "a bulbous plant pushing its way upward and beginning to unfold its beauties." One has soul-force which can "magnetize" others to one's will and purpose. Then one might feel one's heritage or inheritance, the background of the leadership in which one believes, which makes one's strength more certain in its effects than if one were going it alone.
The "general accepting defeat gracefully" is not totally defeated, just in one battle, so that he is regathering strength for a fresh campaign when that is strategic. That is a common feeling during the whole Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch of two months, which ends on Saturday-Sunday this week. So one might survey one's "defeats" over the past two months and sense how to recover. "A serpent coiling near a man and a woman" gets at the continuing sextile between Venus and Mars while, today, Luna is in good aspect with both. This may seem phallic or sexual yet at deeper levels it can be the revelation of male and female supporting each other both outwardly and inwardly within multi-sexual consciousness. How this goes is highly individual. Aiding a friend could be part of the process.
Any awkwardness can be finessed somehow. "A broken pitcher lying on the ground with spilled fruit around it" after all represents an accident from which one can recover. One might feel that some efforts have been vain or impotent. Yet there is "sunshine just after a storm" and a fresh approach to issues develops reconstructed fulfillment through steadiness and fidelity.
