It's the end of a difficult day for me and I am going to take the easy route by quoting from some seasoned astrologers their comments about the closest planetary aspects at present:

Mars opposite Neptune, from Reinhold Ebertin: ""Wanting something without doing anything for it, misuse of energy, moodiness, inferiority complex, disappointments, being harmed, secret enemies, tricks behind one's back, pathological states, harm through drugs (including nicotine [and alcohol--CP])." This continues through Sunday October 11 (by a 3.5 degree, but probably longer in fact). From Robert DeLuce:  "The purpose of this aspect is to teach reliance upon Divine protection, as only spiritual means can be used effectively to overcome the troubles, dangers and adverse forces which this aspect will bring." 

Sun square Pluto, from Isabel Hickey: "New pathways can open up and a completely new and impersonal approach to life can come at this time. For the spiritual disciple it can be the cleansing away of the obstacles that have hindered his progress.. . . It is a time for important, far-reaching decisions. Wisdom through willingness to take the high road can be gained." This goes on by a 3.5 degree orb through next Friday, October 9.

Jupiter trine Pluto, from Isabel Hickey:  "Charm and vitality, and penetrating insight. Blending of extroversion with caution, and of optimism with subtlety. Able to help self as well as others overcome obstacles that stand in the way of success. Therefore often the chosen leader in groups and organizations. Generosity, empathy and understanding for the problems of the other fellow. Metaphysics and all that it implies may well interest the individual, for the cause behind the effect appeals to his highly imaginative consciousness. Yoga and disciplines that call for meditation attract these individuals. Perhaps one leads a spiritual group. Perhaps individual abundance through inheritance." (or through other good fortune--CP). Continues until the first few days of November by the 3.5 degree orb.

Mercury retrograde sextile Saturn (through October 16): Ebertin: "Good powers of concentration, perseverance, thoroughness, diligence, philosophical thinking, relations with older persons." De Luce: "Period of success achieved by diligence, prudence and industry. Honor and credit will improve. Elderly people commend one and give one their confidence and seek to employ one in their affairs. Relationships with inferiors or employees will be satisfactory. May travel with safety and profit. (but Mercury is Retrograde--CP) Plans for business or commercial undertakings will be well conceived and end successfully."

This last one could be important because it lasts so long, for Mercury's station--its position when motionless before it turns direct--occurs while the aspect is exact.

There is an emphasis on deep thought today.

P. S. I note that I did not write a forecast for the first half of October, which I had planned to do. I will blame Mercury's backward motion, a too-easy excuse of course, but a tempting one. I am not sure if or when I will do that. What is above would be included in such a report, for these aspects fit that time period.
