~Holding To One's Path Proudly~

Moon in Cancer   * *

One may feel one is in servitude because one's work is not amply rewarded or even recognized. One is "a mill-wheel driven by the wind" so far as what others see. Yet within oneself one is taciturn, unchanging and stable, "A great lonely tower rising from an eminence of rock."

However, apathy and indolence are a perversion into which we may fall when things are very easy for us. We may unconsciously cultivate and manifest illness, lassitude or incapacity. That does not have to be if we maintain will-power toward the best we have chosen. Then we may manifest "dignity, valour, and humanity" as "A man with a crown on his head and a spear in his hand."

Formula sentence:  We can work out an authoritative approach to purposes through awareness of cycles as formulated and certified. Or: We can work out an authoritative approach to purposes through developing our qualifications for unusual, esoteric or specialized fields requiring such unusual knowledge applied purposefully and magnificently.

We remain in the midst of "brightening influences" if we are responsive to them. These could be invisibly spiritual, verbal, or both. The right words evoke the right spirits. The wrong or disorderly words, "A quantity of books and papers in disorder," are merely intellectual, which is a way of saying mentally entertaining but not necessarily useful or uplifting. "A mere intellectual" is a designation we ought to consider and take seriously, for intellect in itself can be puffed up and arrogant while merely cleverly nugatory. (I could mention certain journalistic commentators but shall restrain myself.)

There is sportsmanship, as in "a game of cricket," for we realize we are part of the human race and must play its games along with it in one way or another. This is more or less the opposite of "a magician in sacerdotal vestments, standing in a magic circle, performing magic rites." This latter has taken a lonely path designed to conquer the world from his own domain of specialized skill or magic; the cricketer is facing his teammates and the other team's players in order to cooperate, and demonstrate his competence within that cooperation and unpredictable play. Both have to follow rules. Which is a better man? The world would choose the cricket-player because his approach is honest and can't be finessed through secrecy and pretense. But who knows really what the magician may be capable of?

December 2017, Daily Ratings (Maximum * * * * *)

4 Monday        *
5 Tuesday       * *
6 Wednesday  * * * *
7 Thursday     * * *
8 Friday         * * * *   (except during one half-hour to be listed later, * * *)
9 Saturday     * *
10 Sunday      *
11 Monday      * *
12 Tuesday    * * *
Two of these have been changed, with extra star power, not because I want to be "nice" but because I neglected something in the original computation. That is one advantage of doing these a week ahead, because I double- or triple-check. Sometimes long-term aspects will depress the ratings for weeks at a time, or raise them. The indications are intended to be most accurate from dawn of the given day until midnight. Then, from midnight until the next dawn, that quarter-day may partake of the nature of one or both days on either side. It is a transition period, usually reserved for sleep. Note: I am not giving any five-star ratings until the Dark Hermetic Epoch ends on January 10. The other ratings remain the same, but the uncertainty in the DHE makes * * * * * unrealistic.
