"Star" adventures: It's notable that the star ratings for Friday (*) and Saturday (****) seemed to be most accurate for Republicans, since on Friday they were greeted with the news of Michael Flynn's arrest, and the stock market plummeted. The tax bill the Senate was working on was supposed to be secure but no one knew for sure until it passed---but not until Saturday near 2 a.m.. So it couldn't pass on the one-star day but passed on the four-star day and Republicans at least were happy. Of course you might say Democrats and others were happy when Flynn was arrested and unhappy when the bill passed. Actually, I believe these ratings apply more fully to individual experiences than political ones, in most cases. I had a better day Saturday than Friday, in fact an event I was dreading turned out to be pleasing.

The ratings are not intended to predict the stock market's ups and downs, not at all. In general one-star days like today are good for routines, ordinary work, and boring things like clean-up, laundry or trash removal, for example. They are also good for prayer and meditation, spiritual outreach. "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," that is, when outer things fail us, the inner life and faith become a refuge and fortress.

Monday:  The sun happens to be in a degree symbolizing the absolute worst of what Democrats and most liberals think of the Republicans and financial conservatives: "Death, with a scythe in one hand, and a bag of money in the other" (Charubel). "A miser, who will starve himself for gain; and who would delight in slaughter and carnage if it would prove of some monetary advantage to himself." According to current futures indications, the stock market is slated to rise dramatically Monday, a one-star day, after the miserly tax reform. Could Charubel's chilling diagnosis be literally true of the party in power? (I didn't say it was. Wondering.) Borelli says of the same degree: "A large portcullis guarding the entrance to a prison." This is where the Democrats would like to send Flynn, Manafort, Kushner, and even Trump, in revenge against the Trump-inspired chant against Hillary, "Lock her up!" We live in strange times.

"A bull" is still "pawing up the earth" and his anger is lasting. We could guess who that might be, in the political sphere. Perhaps he is someone in your life also. Yet in his neighborhood likewise dwells "An old owl up in a tree" whose normality of perspective and insight keeps him calm, efficient, and in control. He may appear smug but he has self-restraint and self-respect. You? Those who observe and restrain their powers for later use may be essential at this pass of a Dark Hermetic Epoch, with Mercury having turned retrograde yesterday.

Selfishness in ourselves is often undetected by ourselves. We see it in others instead. So misanthropy can creep up on us until we realize we need to take a grip on our feelings and look for the best in people. We may also feel that some are helpless victims of circumstances or of bad health or some other disability. This is our chance to keep faith with them and pray for the best, "A man of middle age watching over a cradle."

Charubel says that Mars is at a degree of "dignity, valor and humanity." Let us hope so. These qualities seem evident usually in those who get no publicity or popularity. Why is that? Such individuals, whether we realize it or not, are brightening the lot of humanity and we are all somehow responsive to their creditable endeavors to benefit everyone, "A man in the midst of brightening influences."

So may it be . . .

December 2017, Daily Ratings (Maximum * * * * *)

3 Sunday        * *
4 Monday        *          (*- during v-of-c listed above, about one hour)
5 Tuesday       * *
6 Wednesday  * * * *
7 Thursday     * * *
8 Friday         * * *     (except during one half-hour to be listed later, * * *-)
9 Saturday     *
10 Sunday      *
11 Monday      * *
Sometimes long-term aspects will depress the ratings for weeks at a time, or raise them. The indications are intended to be most accurate from dawn of the given day until midnight. Then, from midnight until the next dawn, that quarter-day may partake of the nature of one or both days on either side. It is a transition period, usually reserved for sleep. Note: I am not giving any five-star ratings until the Dark Hermetic Epoch ends on January 10. The other ratings remain the same, but the uncertainty in the DHE makes * * * * * unrealistic.
