The killing of the police officers in Dallas occurred, as have so many or perhaps most of past mass killings, in a |karmically difficult or sobering third| of a week. That was Thursday and Friday this week, and much of Saturday. We should be familiar with this pattern by now.
Millions of black people and white people and policemen were not shot or harmed. What we can say, however, is that there is a clear statisticaL pattern that more mass killings occur during |difficult thirds| of the week, including the events of 9/11/2001. And masses of people all over the country and even the world feel these events vicariously because they are given such constant publicity and discussion.
There is more, as always. It is important to consider all the aspects because astrology is real, not illusive, and the more we study painful events in its light the better we might be able not only to anticipate and prevent them but understand them and their sources.
On Wednesday evening when Philando Castile was killed by a police officer in Minnesota we had a continuation of the difficult Mars quincunx Uranus aspect, from Scorpio to Aries, both Mars-ruled signs--and Mars rules guns. This is a very long-term aspect because Mars happened to go retrograde, stationary and direct almost exactly at the point of the quincunx with Uranus. We linked it also with the Brexit affair and a killing connected with it in Britain. It was exact within one degree on Thursday and also on Friday. Also, the moon in Leo was squaring Mars in Scorpio.
In addition to that, there is--and this is important because exact on the day of the shooting and also on the day of the sniper attacks against officers in Dallas--the sun and Mercury both opposite Pluto. Why would this be a violent aspect? It does not have to be! Not planets but human beings are violent. For the exact time of both those events the sun was opposite Pluto within one degree, something which happens on only two days per year.
Further, quite amazingly, when I constructed a chart for the time of the Minnesota killing (9 p.m. local time in Falcon Heights, Minnesota) Pluto is shown as directly on the ascendant at that moment. The ascendant has been known for centuries or millennia by astrologers as the most sensitive or significant point of the chart (other than the planetary positions). Pluto crossed the ascendant at exactly 8:58:46 p.m. local time in that location. All the reports said the shooting occurred "about 9 p.m." The sun would then be, of course, because exactly opposite Pluto, on the descendant or 7th house cusp, the house of "open enemies."
What does this mean? I often think of the word "suspicion" in connection with Pluto. The officer responsible suspected the innocent man, whether as a result of racism or other factors, and of course probably because then Mr. Castile informed him that he had a gun. My guess is that whereas the gun was in the car, the officer assumed it was on Mr. Castile, and then when he reached to his pocket for the documentation requested, the officer assumed (or suspected) he was reaching for his gun. Here is part of the danger of Pluto. It is a suspicious planet. That is, it is connected with deep suspicions and distrusts in human beings. Suspicion and distrust between the races, and between laymen and policemen, for example.
We do not have time to explore all of that here. But now I have learned something from this horrible incident about how people can "freak out" over Pluto. Pluto as "the suspicious Other" can set off a train of reactions which could end in tragedy, as in this case. It is something astrologers need to ponder.
One more factor: The two shootings by police officers this week might have been set off by misapprehension, that is, by each officer assuming that he was in danger from an armed man (both were armed or thought to be). Then fear pulled the trigger, with an assumption of self-defense. Whereas on Friday the Dallas shootings occurred in the |karmically challenging third| of the week, when most deliberately contrived, carefully planned killings have happened. It is as if the moon-Saturn aspect (which demarks the |difficult third|) brings out grievances or supposed grievances in the prospective killer's mind and emotions which drive him to deliberate and malicious violence. Whereas the other killings were more likely the result of fear and misapprehension of what was going on.
In your own life, what did all this mean? Before the tragic Wednesday incident happened, in the afternoon, I was writing letters to people about a very difficult situation involving deep suspicions on all sides, and trying to get to the bottom of them. It was not easy but I felt I had to to it. I considered it to be the lunar square to Mars in Scorpio, sign of "past misdeeds" sometimes, and indeed it was. But it was also the sun-opposite-Pluto aspect bringing forward old things needing rectification. You may have been doing through something similar on Wednesday, or indeed Thursday or Friday.
Meanwhile the good aspects seem to have gotten lost somewhere, but not entirely. Good aspects to Venus are good for money, and also the sextile between Mercury and Jupiter, and the stock market has been recovering this week, especially on Friday. We seem often to get hypnotized by the difficult aspects and forget how many benefits we are actually enjoying.

Moon in Virgo *** |
\Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week ends at 3:04p PT | 6:04p ET | 10:04p UT ****
/moon goes void-of-course at 8:29p PT | 11:29p ET | 3:29a(Su) UT *** /
As mentioned in a forecast two days ago, this does not look like a bad day for social events or fun and entertainment because the moon will be between Venus and Mars forming a sextile to both of them while they remain in a trine. Possibly a day for lovers, or at least for harmonious relations and contacts.
Sunday 10 July 2016

until it enters LIbra at 1:33a PT | 4:33a ET | 8:33a UT ***
Probably less thrilling than Saturday, yet still Luna in Libra is pleasant usually.

(I am writing this very late on Friday and do not feel up to the usual full reports after spending so much time on the tragic events just discussed.)
