Forecast for Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July 2016

Saturday and Sunday, 16-17 July, 2016

This seemed like a week when we were recovering from the horrid American police-and-race killings of the week before. And then, on Thursday and Friday, the further horror of the attack in Nice and then the coup, or attempted coup, in Turkey. And when did these last two happen? Exactly after the beginning of the |difficult third| of this week as I had pointed out, in fact, the Nice attack began 18 minutes after the beginning of the |Karmically challenging or sobering third| of this week (Thursday at 1:12p PT | 4:12p ET | 8:12p UT | 10:12p in Nice, France, as reported 18 hours before that in this report for last Thursday). The Turkey events followed the next day, beginning at 10 p.m. in Istanbul which was earlier in the afternoon in the U. S., in the center of the |difficult third| as Luna was approaching Saturn.

I do not prize myself for predicting tragedies, because I wish there were none of them, but I did train myself to figure out the temporal patterns during which they happen, and the world ought to be interested in that. But because I call myself Cosmic Piper, the astrologer, nobody takes it seriously. If I called myself "Dr. H. Howard Higgins, Professor of Temporal Statistical Analysis at Harvard University" perhaps a few would take notice.

Anyway, I consider you to be among the lucky few who know about these periods so you can ease your week by taking advantage of the advance information--understanding the need for a lower-key, lower-profile stance during the |difficult third| while planning more social or ambitious events during the other two-thirds of each week. I hope some of you are able to profit by that information. I am grateful for your continued attention to these attempts because that keeps me going.

At the time of the Nice attack (an unbelievable one) the moon was at 23 Scorpio 36' and Mars at 24 Scorpio 31', which means they were conjoining by less than one degree. This happens every month, but not always in Scorpio which at worst can be a deadly sign, and not always when also Mars is quincunx Uranus by a tiny orb of 07' (Uranus at 24 Aries 24'). At the time this happened, the afternoon of Thursday where I live, I was lying down for rest and praying because I felt the moon-Mars conjunction as possibly ominous. (Of course I knew nothing of what was going on in Nice.) Perhaps more intense or informed prayers by more individuals around the world could have averted the catastrophe.

Then on Friday, while the moon was conjoining the other "malefic" planet, Saturn, within 6 or 5 degrees, the turmoil and attempted coup in Turkey. These two are in Sagittarius, the sign considered to be connected with Muslims and Arabs by traditional astrologers for centuries. Charubel's symbol for 10Sagittarius11 where Saturn lies is "A lion with tail erect and in the act of running towards a panther." He continues: "A person of noble disposition, high-minded, honourable, but bold, courageous and fearless of foes." Well, which is which? Is the tyrant Erdogan the lion or the panther? Which are the rebels in the military? I cannot say. Certainly "bold, courageous and fearless of foes" applies to the renegades. As I write we do not know their fate. I for one am amazed that they would attempt what they did. But, as we know from years of suffering, it is not easy to discern the "good guys" form the "bad guys" in that part of the world. One could hope for greater honesty, less corruption, and more personal freedom in Turkey, whatever its source and however it may come about.

At a less global and thrilling level, while the moon was in the Via Combusta and we entered the |difficult third|, my little coffeemaker had its final two days and sputtered out! I just purchased a new one. You will note, if you watch these periods over the years, that such things happen--the end of something during the Via Combusta or while the moon is in Scorpio or during a |difficult third.| These last are also often "bad hair days."

^Spiritual Foundations^

Moon in Sagittarius
|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week continues   ** |

Potentially a "bad hair day" and yet, later in the day, Luna forms a trine with Uranus in Aries the sign of the head, so after too much time in front of the mirror you may feel your coiffure is splendid! (Hey guys, you know you do it too.)

Luna square Jupiter suggests metaphorical hair-splitting over religion, philosophy, or opinions (perhaps political, or not).

The situation in Turkey was ushered in by a "sesquisquare yod" which is in this case Saturn sesquisquare the sun on one side and Uranus on the other. That looks frightening. It was indeed frightening in Nice and Istanbul. A dying coffeemaker is nothing by comparison. But it may be a warning to us that we need to "get right with G*d" because Sagittarius can be our thoughts and understandings of Him or Her (or It if you are an impersonalist. I am not.).

Less formidably, the Part of Fortune remains in the 5th house which suggests a desire for entertainment and pleasure, perhaps entwined with the more serious ponderings just mentioned.

\Pausing, then Struggling Toward Recommitment/

Moon in Sagittarius-->Capricorn   ** |
/moon goes void-of-course at 1:58a PT | 4:58a ET | 8:58a UT   * / |
|Karmically difficult or sobering third| of this week ends at 5:34a PT | 8:34a ET | 12:34p UT   ** /
Moon enters Capricorn (no longer void-of-course) at 12:34p PT | 3:34p ET | 7:34p UT   ***

The above suggests that things will get clearer and smoother as the day proceeds. Long-term aspects remain the same. We have not even discussed the sun's square with Uranus, which of course also fits the attempted coup in Turkey--Uranus the planet of Independence in Aries the sign of Mars, the military! Very straightforward astrology. Of course, it could happen anywhere in the world, and probably is happening in various places but without the intense drama and publicity of the Turkish situation.

For us individually it may suggest that our individuality is challenged but thriving--we feel a conflict between the "homeland"s routines (the sign Cancer, and Erdogan in Turkey) and our own desire for greater freedom. The "homeland" could be family or a group to whom one feels allegiance (Cancer) versus one's own striving self (Uranus in Aries). Where is the balance or agreement between them? That we need to find, or muddle through until it finds us.
