Weekend of January 6-7, and ~Election Speculation~

The Dark or Slow Hermetic Epochs, this one covering November 25 through January 20, are magical times. The question is, is this Dark magic or Light magic? It can be both, but Mercury the trickster seems to cast its shadow. Were Christmas gifts you gave or received boons or burdens? Maybe a little of both? Was it a time of holiday cheer or of what felt like trivial harassment? Both? 

Likewise, in the realm of thinking, Mercury or Hermes is either controlling the serpent of wisdom or letting it coil in any and every direction. Astrologers I interact with on Twitter have said some helpful intuitive things but also some rather silly ones, such as: Pluto in Capricorn is the source of all our troubles (from February 2008 until November 19, 2024). I see no reason at all why that should be true. I suspect that because Pluto will enter Aquarius later this year, there to remain until 2043, wishful thinking decrees that this will somehow be a magical time eliminating ll our problems, in accord with the old pop song "Age of Aquarius." But Aquarius as well as Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the Big Baddy, and also by Uranus which is often disruptive. We can't look to such zodiacal placements as guarantees of "a better time." 

As for political discussion during this Dark Epoch (time above), it has been almost impossible. Heat rather than light, and claws rather than handclasps. Either one is Islamophobic and a blind supporter of Zionism, or one is pro-Hamas, pro-terrorism, pro-Sharia law, and anti-Jewish. There is supposed to be no middle ground. Either Donald Trump is a deity or a devil, and so with Biden. 

Meanwhile the two candidates with the most refreshing, honest voices, Vivek Ramaswamy and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., seem to be pushed to the sidelines, although Kennedy is fighting a valiant battle to get on the ballots of all the states, and winning one slow victory at a time. It may be good if he does not know about or believe in Mercury retrograde or the Dark Epoch; he just keeps pushing on. 

In an X discussion about Pluto being in Capricorn, I mentioned that the final degree of Capricorn's 30, where Pluto shall be on November 5, is an interesting one, and a competent well-informed astrologer asked me about that. I told him I would write about it here, and so:

Charubel the clairvoyant gave the symbol for that degree as: "A shepherd on the mountain top with crook in hand, looking out for the locality of his sheep." "This symbol denotes one who, by reason of his superior powers and advantageous position in life, will be called to be a leader and a commander of a society, a community, or perchance a nation, in the capacity of president. This degree is pre-eminently the degree of rule, and that ruler [represented by it] will be a ruler indeed." Something to look forward to, I hope!

Who shall it be? I shall not predict. It seems almost that it is unethical to predict election results, in that one's prediction, wrong or right, could influence the outcome, while that ought to be determined by the calm and deliberate reflection of informed voters.

However, there is another piece of the puzzle. On November 8, 2016, when Donald Trump was unexpectedly and spectacularly elected, Mars was at that same degree, 29 Capricorn (named Capricorn 30 in the symbols books because 0 Capricorn is Capricorn 1, and so on). "A ruler indeed"? So his adherents believe. 

This does not mean I am endorsing Trump, nor that I am predicting he will win. But it is interesting for sure. Pluto has been called "the higher octave of Mars." What happened in 2016 with Mars could happen again in 2024 with Pluto.

Or not. Because Bobby Kennedy is also in the race, and he is a sun-sign Capricorn, with Mercury and Venus also in that sign. Could he be the "shepherd looking out for the locality of his sheep"? Well, he is that indeed, win or lose, for he has to "look" more than the other candidates for his sheep, by getting on 50 state ballots. He is only on one so far. "One who by reason of his superior powers and advantageous position in life will be called to be a leader" fits him perfectly, with the advantage of the Kennedy legacy.

Again, I make no prediction. 

One could consider other factors, such as the symbol for this same degree in the Sabian system: "A secret business conference" with the keyword Opportunity.

But that is enough for now. May the voters choose wisely.

As for this weekend and the immediate future in our personal lives: Mercury gradually gains speed so that clarity about choices gradually increases. Venus is still square Saturn, "Nobody loves me," but gradually releases its grip. Mars in good aspect with both Saturn and Jupiter is excellent for forward progress in business or any project requiring solid backing and attention to detail. The sun trine Uranus gives useful insight into trends with a resulting sense of freedom.

Saturday the 6th is Epiphany when the Wise Men visited the baby Jesus and bestowed gifts upon him.
