}Friday, and the Fortnight January 4-17{
Yesterday's report was a long one, covering the Fortnight of January 4-17. I would like to rewrite it as three segments, one for Friday, one for this weekend, and one Monday. The first, now, covers the three symbols for Venus in the January 4-17 fortnight (Friday is Venus's day).
I myself have been struggling to fathom "what is wrong" during and since the holiday season. Of course part of it is the Dark Hermetic Epoch lasting through the 20th. Oddly enough, two of the three Venus symbols speak of darkness. "A person is entering a dark tunnel." Trump faces endless lawsuits; Biden's polling is down; Chris Christie dropped out of the Republican running. Kennedy's numbers are quite good but it might seem like a "dark tunnel" getting his name on all the states' ballots, though his team is making firm progress; and he has to make a VP choice early because of state laws affecting independent candidates, yet to be announced. Kennedy, reared on the tragic history of his family, seems utterly prepared for any "dark tunnel."
This is a sermon. It has to be, since these symbols, channeled through real spiritually-connected clairvoyants, are implicitly ethical, though not specifically Christian nor allied with any other religion, including paganism. They provide solid material for thought and inspiration and do indeed fit the time periods to which they apply.
What is the spiritual meaning of darkness? Search, for one thing. Where do I go, what do I do, to get out of the darkness? "This person will go wrong in life if there are no saving influences in operation." And so the assignment is, Turn to the saving influences! For Christians that could be the Bible; for all, it could be any teaching or guru-figure or priest or coach.
Venus gets a double dose of darkness. "A black hole or cavern in a rock" is the Borelli-Sepharial symbol. "Futile or vacuous projects" may take much of our time, due to no fault of our own. Or--prepare for sermon--we may be "always open to receive benefits from others but yielding nothing of our own" and so "friends and fortune fail" us. The sermon is, Be generous even when your own bottom line seems on a downward curve. Not easy to hear or to do. But it could save us from "a black and barren prospect, from the keyword Vacuity.
But what is the positive value of "vacuity" or blankness or darkness? Is it not comforting to turn out the lights and pull up the sheets and blanket? Maybe this Fortnight is good for giving ourselves a partial break from too much worry. Trusting in the Lord's mercy, as the Psalms recommend, could be specially appropriate. I saw a quotation from saint Padre Pio to the effect that the more we are suffering, the more God's love abides with us and comforts us.
The Sabian symbol, "Seagulls watching a ship," brings us back to realism. The gulls may have rested or slept in a "cavern" or "tunnel," but now they are alert to what they need and where it can be found. We need respite and re-orientation, which cannot be rushed, and sometimes that looks like inertia. But when we are awake and alert we have regained poise; and our supplies, in business or investment or through other avenues, are sufficient.
