As noted below, the |hard third| of this week ends early this morning, making this the first Monday in months to be free of it. It shall continue to hit weekends until early May. We know that bitterly cold weather affected most of the U. S., or large swaths of it, on Saturday-Sunday. Perhaps that will be less painful today either because of less storm and cold or because people feel inured to it. That could be fortunate for those attending the Iowa caucuses.
As planned, we continue with clues concerning the current Fortnight of January 4 through 17 (Wednesday this week), this time with the symbols for Mars's position in the chart covering the fortnight.
No one enjoys hearing about the tribulation of thousands in the Mid-East, yet they have been happening to an alarming extent. Let's take just one example, the Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas, together with, more painfully, the slaughter of hundreds of Israelis on October 7, which began this horrific war. "A butcher clothed in his working dress is conducting a sheep into the slaughter-house." Charubel elucidates: "A person of dangerous proclivities; unfortunate to those with whom he deals; selfish, crafty and cruel." Of course now the accusation of such a character and such deeds is made also against Netanyahu, Jews in general, Biden and others, as well as against Hamas and other Islamic militants. In a roomful of people taken at random, half will be pointing at the other half accusing them of being the real "butchers." This is not good. In our personal lives also we may perceive some as "crafty and cruel" or we may give thanks, hearing how others suffer, that we are free of it ourselves; or we may support noble groups who are trying to end such injustices.
How to do that? By facing "a dark archway with ten logs at the bottom." This symbolizes "the varying fortunes of everyday living" and "the satisfaction anyone may know through a conscious direction of his own destiny." Taking the hostages as an example, it's easy to see that they are symbolically under "a dark archway" and the "ten logs" could even be the bodies of some tragically killed in October or later, or else the living bodies of those who may yet be released. Or the "logs" may be possible ways of escaping or of ending the stalemate. "Man remains unimpeachably himself because he is able to extend himself indefinitely," says Dr. Jones. As for each of us, fortunately not in such dire straits, the keyword Thoroughness hints that we can, by surveying and evaluating our circumstances, find a way past anxiety, toward competence. We "get to the bottom of it."
The Borelli-Sepharial symbol for Mars is "A heart surmounted by an aureole" indicating "an affectionate and devoted nature, centering his affections upon a single object and continuing steadfast all his life." This is virtually the exact opposite of the "butcher" symbol. If we take the example of a hostage being held by Hamas, there are many touching testimonies on X (Twitter) of family members who recall memories of the hostages, give whatever news they can, and pray for their release. "There is little of guile, little of fear, and perfect confidence in those to whom he gives his heart." This may be a message to us that to surpass or transcend the cruel or "butchering" tendencies in ourselves or around us we can focus on those we love or have loved. "In whatever path of life his work may lie he will succeed where others have failed, merely because of his whole-heartedness and concentration." The keyword is Devotion.
