\Worthy Climbing/
Behind a hare seated on a knoll above its burrow,
The moon rises. This creature is watchful and cautious
But not far-sighted. Timorous and apprehensive,
He feels insecure. A man climbs a Maypole with a
/
Crown of flowers at the top. His sole object in life
Is popularity. The love of approbation makes him
Ascend. But one day, the crown ungrasped, he falls,
And troubles plague him as if he were being tortured.
/
Surely there must be help, he prays, and in place of
The Maypole there appears a road consisting of
Steps up a steep hill. This time his climbing instinct
Pursues an object worthy of his ambition.
/
He labors hard to fulfill his mission. An angel at
The top awaits and cheers with a golden crown.
