Challenge: While Mercury is at its station, today, one is likely to pause and consider. Some things seem less pressing, more open to consideration. What's the hurry? 'A horseman armed, moving across a desert towards some woody hills' is at a natural pausing point. He is looking out for himself, self-willed and capable of carrying out designs without the aid or cooperation of others. He is taciturn and self-contained, letting his next moves evolve in his thoughts, self-reliant. If, on the other hand, the impatience of Mars opposite Saturn were to be paramount, one might feel like, or be influenced by, 'a Bolshevik propagandist.' This could be searching for a worthy cause, or deciding on one, being open to the leaven of fervent political ideas of Left or Right whether one ultimately casts one' lot with revolutionaries or not.
Process: 'A hedgehog' suggests the motionlessness of Mercury at this point: "Don't bother me; I am wrapped up in myself, not moving except to defend myself.' One might be secretive, shunning the public gaze. The Slow or Dark Hermetic Epoch continues until July 7 while Mercury very slowly gains speed. Meanwhile one might have noble aspirations and influence people beyond one's neighborhood, as if 'a lofty pine tree' giving its shade, scent, comfort and beauty to all.
Blessing: The theme of motionlessness or calm poise continues with 'a man suspended over a vast level place.' One can take an illimitable overview of things in advance of involvement in them. Random compulsions are avoided so that one develops free choice. Calm contemplation brings self-orientation and understanding. This could prepare one for 'a dark shadow or mantle thrown suddenly over the right shoulder.' That is a touch of ripened destiny. Felt obligation develops into leadership or stewardship. One embodies the general welfare in some dramatic way, and some others are aware that one has this special role.
