Some current symbols seem to warn against the perils of the Mercury Retrograde cycle (until February 21), such as this: 'A man swimming in the river against the current and making no progress.' Sepharial says this can be 'a straining after that which Nature has not designed, and consequent failure.' Well, one might, rather than just drift downstream with the current, get out of that river and walk along it or find some alternative course of action. (Also we have a long void-of-course period pointed out above.) Even sitting on the riverbank for a while and meditating could be wise during these MR periods. One might hear 'a man playing a violin' or other music one prefers, letting the struggle for sharp thinking and planning be dissolved into the magic of the Muses for a while.
Struggles in either politics or other matters of diverging opinion continue intense, seemingly inevitable, whale Mars and Uranus remain squared to several planets, so there is 'a battle between the swords and the torches.' Dr. Jones says that one could 'align oneself with the cause of enlightenment while yet respecting the manifestations of might.' Necessity and desire need reconciliation. 'A big white dove, a message bearer' could resolve the problem through the 'transcendental or superior wisdom' it brings to bear, making for 'an ever-constructive attitude of mind.' Sincere convictions put things in a cosmic framework so that one knows what to do and when.
'A truly good person who has implicit faith in the Most High' dwells symbolically in 'a small cottage at the base of a mountain where rocks overhang it and threaten its destruction' yet it is not destroyed. Or one might be like 'a great tortoise' which can pull back into its protective shell at any moment, free from harm for a phenomenally long lifetime. He or she is solitary, philosophical, contented and kindly, enjoying the security of Providence.
