~Loosening Routines and Patterns~
Sometimes I have to toot my own horn. For Tuesday's forecast I gave the title "A Reprimanding Slap?" Today in my reading of the news I find that Nancy Pelosi and the "AOC squad" or supposedly "progressive" young Democratic women in Congress are definitely slapping each other! Verbally, that is. Not only Jeffrey Epstein but other prominent powerful individuals are getting their faces slapped by the revelations of the Epstein sexual trafficking. Donald Trump and Sir Kim Darroch, the UK ambassador to the US are slapping each other's faces. Cosmic Piper titled the forecast for Tuesday appropriately. In your own life, who is slapping whom?
There could be more of the same today, Wednesday, since some of it is based on the harsh, exact squares between Mars and Mercury (together in Leo) with Uranus (in Taurus). This is "I am right and you are wrong!" because it is in fixed signs, which never want to give up their position, and because Mars and Uranus in a square tend toward violence at worst or at least anger or "righteous indignation" at best.
The symbols for the day, however, are quite pleasant, so I am not sure what to make of that---how to balance the contrary indications. Since the moon is in the Scorpio half of the Via Combusta, while opposite Uranus, maybe nobody can figure out "what the hell is going on." So if you feel that way, you are not alone.
Therefore I shall give some words of counsel about the current Mercury Retrograde period (July 7-31), center of the Dark, Slow or Confusing Hermetic Epoch (June 20 through August 14). These clues apply to both the central MR three-week period and the longer DHE:
1. In general it is not good to depart from established procedures--to quit a job, end a relationship, or resign from a function you perform in a group. You may regret it later. Things seem unusually slow and difficult, boring or pointless, and you feel "Why am I doing this? Why not jump ship and try something else?" Based on painful experience, I have to say that that is not a good idea. Bearing with the pain or weariness of the daily grind is better. It will build strength and character and prevent you from "burning your bridges behind you."
2. However, if you have worked and planned a long time for something new, and it happens to become available during this period, you can take it up--if you feel very confident that it is the right step. I have moved to new places, and gotten new jobs, during these times, and the result has been good. That was because I had planned for the move beforehand and felt sure I knew what I was doing. The danger is a precipitate move based on sheer anger, exhaustion, exasperation or huffiness. Example: Your partner or good friend may be weary of you, and you of her or him, but that does not mean the relationship is ended, just that it needs a vacation or extra patience.
3. Backsliding into old habits is common at these times. It could be dropping your diet---"I'll just eat as I please but try to control it wisely" seems the right course. Maybe; I cannot say yes or no. Likewise, if you had given up alcohol or smoking or pot or whatnot, but feel during this period that it wouldn't hurt to indulge a little, I sympathize. I have been there. It's just important to keep very conscious of what you are doing and not let it get out of hand. Maybe a greater latitude will be good for you. Maybe not. It's easy to say "Be careful" but not easy to take that advice.
4. Likewise, changing your schedule, making it more free-form, is a natural tendency at this time. One part of you, the strict one, says "Oh no, you are slipping." The other part says "You need a change, a break from this silly rigid schedule." Both are right! In other words, it's a matter of sly, elegant, subtle balancing. You do need to do things in an "out of pattern" way part of the time. Your sleep schedule may change, or your eating schedule. Maybe the exact way you do your job changes. We want to keep the world and our experience of it fresh, not boring. That is legitimate. It becomes a problem only if you ignore basic responsibilities and thereby get in trouble. That does not have to happen.
5. The subtle, spiritual, internal, introspective, mystical side of all this can be wonderful. Your soul wants to come to the forefront, rather than the robot which "the world" thinks you ought to be. Well, you have to be somewhat robotic in your job if you want to keep it. Likewise with housekeeping, and so on. But heeding your soul's demand for extra freedom is also important. When you are sleeping longer, or going to a different place for lunch or dinner, or otherwise escaping from routine, your inner self has a chance to rediscover a lot about itself and the unexplored world around, and the unexplored world within.
