The square of Venus with Mars, now the closest square or opposition in the sky of our System, will be with us a very long time because of the slow speed of Mars plus the fact that Venus is slowing down and turning retrograde in early October. By a seven-degree orb it lasts from August 29 through October 18. It will be at its tightest over the coming two weeks (but still felt even in its fullness after that). Let's look at what some distinguished astrologers have said about it. Here is the final sentence from C. E. O. Carter's excellent piece on it: "The health may be affected through worry, strain, and lack of interior tranquility, or through hurt to the feelings or sorrow. It may likewise denote harm through self-indulgence." That says a mouthful. It puts the onus on us to get out from under any bad effects by calming and controlling our feelings and worries, and finding tranquility no matter what is going on around us. The final sentence also points out astutely that through our sad or angry feelings we may seek escape in self-indulgence--in overeating, over-drinking, or drugs. In this case the cure may prolong the illness. So it is worth pondering what Mr. Carter wisely said. (We will consider other portions of his discussion in coming days.) I find it very helpful to re-read those two sentences just quoted and hope you do also. They suggest ways of rising beyond some of our current predicaments or sorrows.
Wednesday: Someone generous, kindhearted and proud is an ally. He or she responds gladly to you and you to him or her. You serve each other graciously.
One who guides or commands keeps looking for the place or venue where he connects with his true followers. They tend to be honest, just, realistic, working for little reward while content with their labor.
Encroaching on someone else's affection or attraction is a temptation. This may or may not be feasible, yet could feel like a natural thing to do; or someone may be toying with your own affections or being seductive for ulterior reasons. Yet all are at least subconsciously aware of family traditions or some heritage in the blood which inspires toward greater nobility, and that can uplift the spontaneous flirtatiousness toward something nicer.
An inner circle of those who seek financial advantage could be on your mind. Even if they seem opponents, their quest may stimulate you. As for yourself, you might feel at times that you are just a servant or beast of burden, "an ass tied to the shaft of a grinding mill." Yet the daily circle of your effort is satisfying, ultimately. Perhaps less is more and contentment trumps ambition.
