Moon in Libra-->Scorpio
< moon in the Via Combusta

Hurricane Harvey hit the U. S. last year just when the sun was opposing Neptune, on August 28-30 when the worst winds and flooding hit Texas and other areas.  This year Florence is about to hit the Carolinas and again the sun is opposed to Neptune, by just 6 degrees, and Mercury is moving toward the opposition, now by just 3 degrees. Of course Neptune is the planet of the ocean and of ocean storms, the god Poseidon wielding his trident, and he is in his own sign Pisces, ruler of the ocean as well, making the effects very strong last year and this. However, in 2017 we were in a Dark Hermetic Epoch at the time the hurricane hit, making it much worse than it will probably be this time, I hope. USA Today says that Florence's worst impact will result in "catastrophic, deadly flooding." As for water signs, Venus just entered Scorpio, one of the three water signs, on Sunday when the storm was building up, and she is opposing Uranus exactly Tuesday and Wednesday while people are fleeing their homes. An opposition with Uranus results often in separations. This can be on the emotional level (lovers' quarrels) or, as in this case, the physical level--separation even from home.

I was not thinking of Florence at all when I wrote in Tuesday's forecast, "Escape may be sought through local, or more long-range, travel which reassures one that the variety of life has advantages, places to run to, if one is not a desperado."  In the case of Carolinians today, I would not call them desperadoes though their enforced escape, or evacuation, may feel desperate. Good luck to them.

Further, the moon is in the Via Combusta Tuesday through Thursday mid-afternoon, and the highest winds are expected to hit Thursday morning, and the moon will still be in Scorpio, sign of sometimes mayhem or death or serious re-constitution, Thursday evening when the storm is expected to hit the land.  "Via Combusta" may seem a misnomer since the danger here is not fire but wind and water, but the "burning" of the VC does not always indicate fire by any means, just a dangerous or confusing situation, "loss of morale" during a "cosmic reshuffling."

The long-lasting square between Mars and Venus, always disruptive, is exact within three degrees, and Mars now is in Aquarius, an air sign (and air carries the water, hence "the water-carrier), and Venus in Scorpio, a water sign--wind and water, too much of both in the Carolinas, one whipping the other.  At the personal level, couples (Mars and Venus) may feel their relationship under strain because of the storm's pressures and disagreements about how to deal with them. For everyone, everywhere, people feel pressured, with too much to do, too much pressing on them, and so tempers can be short.

I also wrote for Tuesday:  "One may be on the offensive, which is felt as a means of defense. If others have been aggressive one will not give up but continue to maintain one's position until victory." And so Tuesday the New York Times' chief headline reads: "Fight to Retake last ISIS Territory in Syria Begins American-backed forces moved  against the last slice of the Islamic State caliphate in the Middle East"

Wednesday:  Someone may pretend to have all the answers, but when reality hits he or she seems an ostrich with head in sand.  "A house-raising" suggests helpfulness in difficult situations. It can be done despite differing or competing methods.

Indecisiveness at a crossroads may seem normal, yet somehow, within oneself, one knows what to do. One counts the cost of everything and hopes that one's financial dealings or speculations will prove profitable.

Some individuals sound like parrots when they mouth things they don't quite understand.  Others are leaning to "play the game" and express themselves within a context which does not have to be fearful or upsetting if they strike the right attitude.

The constant changefulness of everything may seem disorienting, and then one may become a "pilgrim" sitting beneath a tree and pondering things to get a better hold on life, as well as to let go of inessential worries.  You love people but you are disillusioned by the aspects of them which are unfit, awkward or inappropriate.  You find that what has supported your living and your consciousness in the past can continue to do so: "The ancient Mother's kind familiar things" (Sri Aurobindo).
