Mercury rules the nervous system, and is retrograde, so the term "unnerving" is eerily appropriate!
What then should we be doing during this period? This morning I kept looking at a blotch on my carpet. It has been there for weeks but today I couldn't stop looking at it. It was "unnerving." Then I said to myself, "I am going to get rid of that as best I can. I'll work on it today." We can REpair or REnovate things during Mercury's retrogradation. We can REbegin projects we had thought we had abandoned. Do you work on machines or cars or computers? Do you draw or paint? Do you compose music or perform it? Do you write or wish you would? Maybe now is the time to take up some old project (something you "projected") and get on with it. It could REstore your faith in yourself and your abilities. It doesn't matter if the results seem poor or scanty. You will be REdeveloping and REnewing some gift within yourself which does not have to lie fallow. You are not doing it for immediate results or to show it to someone tomorrow. You are doing it for yourself and your self-manifestation. It may not be clear until Mercury turns direct, or until the next BHE in September, what you have done, but it will be worth attempting. When Mercury goes backward, we can go back to kindergarten! The immediate results of tinkering or trying are valuable in themselves.
Saturday: Sisyphus kept rolling the stone up the hill and it kept rolling back down. Some aspect of your life may seem like that, yet we have a New Moon and so by considering your natal horoscope you might find your way.
You have an affinity for someone who teaches the true inner knowledge. Of course each guide does that in a particular apparently limited way, but if you have the link with a teacher her or his influence will be enormously helpful.
Your underlying orientation to certainties you can rely on is upholding you. On that basis you may yield to some naive childlike impulses which are modes of self-discovery. Children don't try to be great but play and find wonderful things happening. The danger might be yielding to impulses too impatiently aggressive so that you get ahead of yourself. Persuasion will work better than force.
The indecisiveness of the time may be overt rather than covert, that is, you arrive at wonderful internal realizations which are hard to manifest in an external manner. You look in several directions, look again, and are not confident that the one you choose is really best, but it is what it is for now. Associations with others who have attained something you aspire toward could be your boost upward, or a magnetic rope lifting you higher.
