Message for Friday 10 August 2018

^Youthful Hope is Patient^

Moon in Leo

In the forecast for Thursday I said,  Why do people go to prison? Because they have somehow imprisoned themselves in self-centered views and beliefs which estrange them from others and erode character. Then the society estranges itself from them by locking them up. We need to overcome self-imprisonment (as well as reform unjust sentencing and unjust prison conditions, different but important issues).

From Politico, August 9:  Good Thursday morning. The president is still in Bedminster, New Jersey. The only item on his public schedule is a prison reform roundtable with state leaders this afternoon.

I don't think I need to point out the correlation between the forecast and what the President is doing on Thursday. This is common; it happens a lot; I don't mention it but maybe it is time for me to point out that I am not a lunatic fringe pseudo-astrologer but a serious researcher. In this instance, I hope Trump is serious about prison reform in a good way. (If he is, maybe it's because so many of his cronies may end up there? Well, probably not . . . Harsh sentences are for the poor and destitute, it seems.)

Friday: Young people seem to have many issues threatening them, and yet they are protected as if by a magic spell or fairy godmother-godfather.

People bond "around a campfire" or in a congenial grouping. They may recall those who are gone from this world.

Indecision remains a puzzler, as if one were delaying meeting issues or not even aware of what the real issues are. Not only Mercury but five other planets are retrograde (from geocentric perspective). And today is the last day of an Old Moon, the New (which also happens to be an eclipse) coming Saturday at 2:59a PT | 5:59a ET | 9:59a UT. The cosmos is giving you permission to be slow and thoughtful.

Foolish obstinacy is a threatening tendency. When nothing seems to work one asserts one's will even if it is contrary to public opinion or consensus and that could lead to disgrace. So patience is required. (Even technological, computer or internet problems seem to require extra patience, with annoying waste of time.)

At times like this we can look to something durable and sustaining, such as a spiritual tradition. All of these teach that when life seems unfortunate and troublesome one can keep one's faith throughout the privation or lack of opportunity, and so be ready for better things when they come. Even such teachings can show us how to remain happy within limitations.

There is a subtle playfulness within everything if we are peacefully open to it when we stop worrying.
