^Manful Activity, Restorative Rest^

Moon enters Sagittarius at [Tuesday 10:57p PT] | 1:57a ET | 6:57a UT
|Karmically challenging or sobering third| of this week continues (until Friday morning)   * |

Only one star because the challenges could be intense. It's a "manly" time, a time to manifest the manly virtues (women know how to do that in their own way). The protesters in Oregon are doing that. I am with them, at least from what I have read about the situation so far. They seem to be accomplishing nonviolent protest in much the way that Thoreau recommended. But the East Coast media, citified and isolated from rural life, seem to deliberately not-understand their grievances. Sending two ranchers to jail for four years for very minor non-offenses, which were necessary to protect their livelihood at least from their own point of view, is in fact government oppression, no matter what the New York Times and other citified briefcase-carrying tie-wearing pseudo-liberals might say. A real liberal would try to understand their plight and their needs. In fact, it is partly because they know that the national media do not sympathize with them or understand their problems that they had to take to drastic action to get their message across!

It is Mars in Scorpio square Mercury in Aquarius in a big way. The male-planet is in his own sign, therefore strong, and squared by Mercury retrograde, which can be misunderstanding and confusion. I would say at present that the confusion is on the part of much of the public and the media rather than on the part of the ranchers.

Mercury is in Aquarius, a sign of mutual respect at its best, and often of male (or female) camaraderie. The sun conjunct Pluto in Capricorn is a signal of concern about governmental power overreaching itself. We have that going on in Saudi Arabia also, and doubtless too many places to mention. It is intensified because both those planets are almost exactly squared Uranus, the planet of freedom. "Don't fence me in!"

As Venus gets closer to Saturn, a sort of resigned loneliness sets in. People may feel sad that someone is leaving or has left, that is, through moving or travel. Yet if one has faith one realizes that one has been alone in the past and come through it with renewed friendship or partnership. So it shall be again, even as early as January 25 when Venus and Mars begin a serious flirtation or something even more serious, lasting through February 19. Cupid is not dead, just asleep!

Those traveling or about to travel may have mixed feelings about it, although if it is necessary it is necessary. There are some good omens connected with it; or that could be an interest in international relations.

Study and research could go well today, some of it career-connected. The sun's forming trine with Pluto in earth signs shows that we have our feet on the ground when it comes to money and job. We almost enjoy keeping up with things. Rest, of course, is equally desirable, with the moon, Venus and Saturn all square Neptune, a sort of Morpheus planet sometimes. So if we alternate between appropriate, clear-cut action, not dawdling, and serious rest or meditation at the other pole, we should do well. Some of this could be shared, since the Part of Fortune is in the house of friends. That would probably be a side effect rather than something sought directly.
