If you want me at my most boring but most reliable and responsible: It's a good day to hunker down and get things done which have been postponed.

I'm writing on Tuesday, the first day of the Dark Hermetic Epoch which began about three hours ago. Even yesterday there were signs of what this means. We go back, back, to recapitulate and review things. Yesterday in the news I saw:

The Amanda Knox trial rebegins in Italy! This is so absurd and so destructive of my image of Italy that I doubt I will every visit that country should I ever go to Europe. They deserve a full boycott by Americans for what they have done to my country-mate and city-mate Amanda. They are trying her again for a crime everybody knows she did not commit! Brilliant. So typical, however, of the stupid side of the Dark Hermetic Epoch.

The U. S. government is shut down! Brilliant timing; the DHE triumphs! 

And I see this, which most people probably don't even know about:  "Amid escalating threats from North Korea, U.S. and South Korean defense officials will meet over the next few days and discuss whether to extend America's wartime control over the South's armed forces, 60 years after a truce ended the Korean War."  ABC news, 9/30/13 Sixty years later! Yes, the DHE is the time when we are forced to review our lives, experiences, choices . . . it is a time to figure out one's karma, perhaps . . . and apparently the world's karma from the Korean War is not finished. Sri Aurobindo insisted at the time (late 1940s) that it was essential for the Americans (or somebody) to defeat North Korea and unify the country. Apparently he was right indeed! The problem drags on and on. (By the way, he also said that India and Pakistan needed to be united, another 60-year-and-more problem, and this week we also have discussions between those two about various issues.)

The DHE continues until November 27, the day before Thanksgiving, when a new Bright Hermetic Epoch will begin. Until then things may be interesting. Keep your nose clean and a stiff upper lip!

As I write I hear strange voices in my apartment complex and the fire alarm is going off, but everybody knows there is no fire. Typical again of DHE sorts of events. (And the moon is also void-of-course for another half hour as I write.)

From the Wall Street Journal: In the early hours of [health insurance] enrollment, some of the online marketplaces, called exchanges, experienced delays. Minnesota officials still were testing software and postponed their exchange's launch until the afternoon. Maryland's marketplace asked consumers to return at noon, citing "connectivity" problems. And some people attempting to tap into the federal government's marketplace were asked to "please wait" due to heavy traffic.To be expected, of course, on the first day of the Affordable Care Act. Those reading these reports might have noted that the moon was void-of-course this morning and postponed their attempt to get insurance until later--if anyone at all reads these reports or uses them, which I often doubt.

Wednesday:

Pressing for your own advantage is important. This can seem absurd, of course, as the imbroglio in Congress: orangutans fighting. Still, you could get your way in some things at least if you are dexterous. Not all is gloomy; there can be a spirit of colorful association and connectivity among people of various types. 

Surrendering to fantasy is not good unless you are able to link that with a more realistic surrender or orientation to the general social trend. Then your faith has wings but also a body (conformity to a greater reality). Abstruse studies which orient you to even larger, immortal realities are also highly profitable.

You can capitalize upon your understanding. What do you understand so well that it is a feather in your cap or a jewel of value? You could use that in an inconsequent or careless manner. Or you could use it as an x ray to show you what is coming or rather how to benefit from a probable estimate of what is coming. (Sorry for the mixed metaphors but they might give clues.)

The sun's exact square with Pluto has a lot to do with the Congressional battle which shut down government functions. Says Robert Pelletier of it: "You seem to have a chip on your shoulder and to be on the prowl looking for adversaries." " You alternate between being receptive to worthwhile suggestions from others and expecting their complete submission to your demands." You may find something here to reflect upon as regards your own behavior. It is not well to let yourself become rash and violent before you realize it has happened. Powerful music could help put you in a mood which is strong yet not overbearing nor productive of conflict.

An aspect many would ignore is Saturn now sextile Pluto. But it is very solid; a common-sense aspect. That is what can  save the nation at this point. In your life it is a realistic assessment of what you can do and how you can do it, so that you build success carefully rather than fly into wild-eyed schemes. Insecurity can be solved by developing security intelligently, taking account of all which promotes it. Even those who have gotten themselves locked up by circumstances (such as Amanda Knox seven years ago) can find a way out if they are patient and persistent.

People are being linked together in subtle ways even if in conflict in other ways. It is a process. They need to expand their self-expression, and if that is through mini-conflict at the beginning, that is just the way it has to be. Your creative abilities are challenged to come forward in ways somebody or other will appreciate. If that seems impossible, and there is darkness everywhere (end of the lunar month, Fortuna in 12, Confinement), you can keep believing and expressing yourself even if that is challenging.

The audacity of people! Maybe it is reassuring. In the game of life, if you know people are acting in their self-interest aggressively, you know how to estimate your own moves. Something like that is going on. You could conciliate people, directly or indirectly, through your efforts at adjustments. That is a part of the game which makes it fairer, less disturbing. There is plenty of dissatisfaction to be ameliorated, and some of that can be done in a dramatic, almost playful way which gets applause.

Things may be considerably more confusing when the v-of-c period begins, so it could be well to heed that and get important things, especially if they involve others' consent, done before then. It's hard to understand where you partner stands, if anywhere, because things, feelings and attitudes are so changeable. Information you get from some secret or little-known publication or document, perhaps religious in nature, could be amazing and beneficial. 

You have a magic lantern to use--your mind. It spews forth a genie who will grant requests, so you need to scheme for the right things rather than those which will make you sick. You might sense that someone has been a slanderer. You ought to deal with that according to ancient wisdom you have absorbed from study, rather than from irritation.

You may feel someone has been unreliable and treacherous. This is hard to bear, and could bring on turbulent inharmony. Someone seems superficial and inconsequent, so why deal with that? Well, you can extemporize, using things as they are cleverly and resourcefully. (Getting drunk is not usually resourceful {Mars opposite Neptune and both square Venus}). You could spend time in and enjoy a place where everyone extemporizes.

The harshness of things devolves from everybody wanting to get his own way (e.g. Congress but look for it in your own situation). It is wise to continue with something which does not require all that much cooperation from others, something which is your own and brings out your care and willingness to toil patiently. Then you will eventually attract cooperation indirectly.

Social pressures bring out a need for psychological adjustment. Yet this is starting to seem easier than it has in a while. You can be watchful, but not paranoid, considering perhaps your home and alternate homes you might visit. You feel noble but also sensuous and physical in your attractions even if they go nowhere outwardly.

Amusement and fun are possible, even if under pressures described above. You may see how people get linked, married, or united in a drama, movie or TV show and through that sense something about your actual or latent partnerships. You could be hopeful and prophetic as you consider such possibilities.

Self-sacrifice, struggling on to make things better for someone forlorn, is a noble trait and you may find you have more of it in you than you had suspected. Both males and females are capable of this. It can be leadership, carrying some toward impossible goals against the odds and succeeding after much suffering. You could be imperturbable in this, caring nothing for your personal honor or what people think of you so long as you succeed at this cherished attempt to make things better.
