And eccentric. For what shall he be remembered?
A deed which got the headlines once. Yet in himself
He feels like a lonely lamb looking toward its dam,

Wanting someone to love or cling to. Fame is tasteless
To one without filial affection. Who has come upon
This scene without a mother? In time, life's providence
Rewards simple industry, foresight, gentle care,

So that an old man cuts grapes of prudence in
A vineyard Octobrine. His fruits are shared with
Younger folk. A youth holding a lighted candle
To cheer the autumn gloom has found transcendent
/
Ties with universal life, and sheds enthusiasm upon
The world while relying on an elder's gracious boon.
