Because planets are moving slowly, or retrograde, degree-symbols from recent days are repeating. Appropriately, we may still feel like "a man wading through mud knee-deep; the opposite bank toward which he is struggling is enveloped in fog." We had this symbol on Labor Day when thousands of Burning Man participants were mired in mud quite literally. We may need to be patient with painstakingly slow progress in some areas of our lives.
"A naked infant, exposed, is sleeping in an open and dreary place. Around and above that helpless form are birds and beasts of prey. But, by some strange power unseen, this embodied picture of innocence is protected." "A simple, unassuming person, little noticed and no special favorite of anyone, has been treated cruelly. Yet he is saved from the power of malice. 'No weapon formed against him shall prosper.'" It can be devastating to feel utterly abandoned, and yet like the "naked infant" we are eventually, somehow, fully protected.
For a long time while Venus has been motionless, now moving ahead but very slowly, she has been at the degree "Tufts of grass on a jutting rock hold a thin but certain existence." The keyword is Constancy, and we are trying to "determine the right thing to do and accomplish it through resolute striving." A snail's pace now could change to a more confident clip beginning by the 15th or 22nd of this month.
Meanwhile we have "a blazing fireplace in a deserted home." This symbol always feels comforting and nostalgic to me, evoking the change of seasons when for the first time we turn on the heat or light an actual fire. Yet the picture could suggest, at worst, "a witless dismissal of all affairs to their own devices." That's why the keyword is Guardianship. Why is the home "deserted"? Mysterious. Are some of its denizens missing? Yet it shall be re-occupied when they return, to a toasty-warm living-room.
