Sowing in the wind, we dissipate our fortunes
Or spurn the orienting fitness of things
Till we sit at a table with right angle and plane
To draw up plans of justice and fraternity.
A woman, dejected, covers her naked breast
With her hair, deserted, betrayed, sorrowful.
But a flock of wild geese, insouciant, seeking
Freedom through caprice, re-inspire her.
She climbs a rock in the midst of a fierce storm,
Flashes of lightning revealing character-force.
The summit attained, she sets her feet on an interminable
Road through a long and happy life.
Sanctified plans seem like goose-flight non-plans
Until independence wings with cosmic favor.
