~Prospects for March~

The Russia-Ukraine situation continues to occupy attention and so I shall deal with it as well as I know how rather than construct the usual daily forecast-meditation.  Of course I am not giving a detailed analysis of it because it is very complex, and one thing we are learning from the crisis is how little the average person knows about Russia, Ukraine, SWIFT, the relations between the ruble and the dollar, the geography of Ukraine bordered by Russia, Poland, Belarus, Romania, and Crimea, and so on.  (Are such matters being taught at all in our schools, or just how boys can become girls and girls become boys?)  

Some may wonder why I use, here, the sometimes fanciful, sometimes questionable, degree-symbols (three systems for 360 degrees, a total of 1080).  Simple answer:  They work!  Complex answer:  They work but in mysterious ways.  Further answer:  They, by their accuracy yet seeming fancifulness, challenge us to open our minds to see things in a more complete and rewarding manner.  

In 2020 I wrote here about the degree 12-13 Pisces which is the degree occupied by Venus, and perhaps both Mercury and Venus, in the birth-chart of Qasem Soleimani, an Iranian major general assassinated by the United States (via a drone strike in Baghdad).  He was known as a very bad or dangerous dude, among his own people, and feared or despised by many.  Here is what Charubel in the 1880s said about that zodiacal degree: "There is no symbol to this degree.  But I perceive that it is charged with evil, and wickedness of the most diabolical nature.  The nature will be subtle but plausible in appearance.  Destitute of one spark of REAL sympathy.  One who will ever prove dangerous to those who take him into their confidence.  . . . This is liable to modification, but under the most favorable circumstances such a person will find very strong leanings to injure his fellow men rather than to do them good."  Now note what was going on at the beginning of the Russian incursion into Ukraine.  Jupiter was at this very degree from February 21-24, and on the 24th Putin began his strikes in Ukraine.  We might assume that decision and preparation were going on, among Putin and his cohorts, in the three preceding days, under the influence of this "most diabolical" influence.  

I will not speculate further about this, but felt it important to point it out.  And this:  Over the years I found it important to include Jupiter, but not Saturn or the other "outer planets," in the daily degree-symbol-readings.  However, lately I have focused only on Venus, Mars, and the sun (V and M are closest to us, and the sun's position is really a representation of the earth's motion around it).  Had I been looking at the Jupiter symbol I might have been more perspicuous in pointing out dangers in the past week (though I would not have known, probably, that Russia and Ukraine were involved).  Finally:  The sun will occupy this degree on Wednesday this week, just for that day (and early Thursday). That happens to be the beginning of Lent, Ash Wednesday.  I make no prediction.  We should "examine our hearts" to be sure we are not semi-consciously "injuring" anyone.

Yesterday we looked at February as a calendar month, using the aspects and symbols for February 1.  Here is a little of the same agenda for March:

Is it better?  Yes and no.  We need optimism, so I shall point out some of the promising features and not dwell on the ugly ones.  The ugly ones are meant to be overcome, of course; even Cinderella's ugly sisters might enter upon a plan of self-reform.  Mercury, moon and Saturn very close together are in degrees Charubel gives as: "A naked man with a serpent coiled around the lower part of the body" -- filthy habits; "conquer thy evil nature" -- "A man on crutches," unfortunate -- and "A man at a desk with account books; he has dark hair, projecting eyebrows and keen dark eyes."  This suggests early attention to tax returns or other accounts, or maybe in this era digital equipment such as computers and phones.  Since Mars and Venus are together in Capricorn, perhaps relationships will be involved with career matters (I know one couple of whom this is true).  

Whereas Mars was in the degree "A butcher" (suggesting at present Putin to most people, but having other applications) in February, in March it is "Two men running a race" suggesting that the Russia-Ukraine situation, with its Russia-Western nations implications, may be less harsh and more like manageable rivalry or competition along some lines.  This can also be the perpetual Biden-Trump contest as continuing whether anyone likes it or not.  Pluto is tightly with the Venus-Mars conjunction and its symbol is "An indescribable scene; chaos, confusion, dissolving views" and Charubel says this could be insanity or idiocy.  Some will think this might apply to Biden or Putin or both, but it might be more important to see how it applies to oneself in one's weaker moments, or those with whom one is associated.  Ukraine is not the only place where there could be "chaos, confusion, dissolving views."  

Last month Mars was the high-focus planet and this month Venus.  That seems good.  Less warlike proclivities, let us hope, and more desire to cooperate.  However, Venus is in the degree "Too revolting to be given" according to dear Charubel -- "indulge not in stimulants; keep out of bad company; seek to develop thy higher nature."  It seems we are being toughened up, or it is the tough who win out, with six of the ten planets in Saturn-ruled signs.  We do have, however, the sun with Jupiter while both sextile Uranus and that is liberating at some level.  Jupiter: "A field of ripe corn ready for the sickle.  A cloudless sky and brilliant sunshine."  Says Charubel: "Health of body, peace of mind, a most happy disposition, prosperous in all worldly transactions."  Let us hope.  

Looking ahead, July and August (by this calendar-month method) stand out as the happiest, by planetary pattern and aspect, in the near future.

Guys, it's not easy being (or trying to be) Cosmic Piper.  Astrology, as you know, is extremely complex.  And methods of prediction are not fixed and established, but experimental, no matter what anyone may say.  And so I experiment, and have done so for several decades.  Would it be a sign of failure to admit that I am still investigating predictive methods, and am not sure which are the best or perfect ones?  Then perhaps I am a failure.  However, I have learned a lot and maybe some day I will be able to write a book about what I have found.  

A long time ago I found that just using the calendar months for predictive work seemed excellent.  That is, use a chart for the positions of the planets at midnight Greenwich Time (Universal Time) for the first of February, first of March, and so on, to see what is going on for the coming month.  Too simple?  Too conventional?  Aren't new moon charts better?  Or full moon charts?  Or ingress charts for when the sun enters each sign?  I have used all of those methods, and all work!  Does that not show that astrology is arbitrary?  If everything works, then nothing works?  No, because all these methods interact or interlock, and a very brilliant mind (the Mind of God, or what Sri Aurobindo calls the Supermind) could see why and how it is that each is valid and all are valid.  Yet for ordinary humans and ordinary astrologers, that is TMI, too much information, too much to deal with.  And so I have veered from one method to another as each seemed specially pertinent.  

Weeks such as this last one are devastating (the Ukraine war, the trucker convoys in Canada and the U. S., battles over the virus and vaccination, serious questions about who is lying and who is telling the truth).  Yet for a predictive astrologer they are helpful because one can ask, "Do your methods show this mess and cast light on it? If not, surely they must be wrong!"  Well, some are working better for the past week or two, and some not as clearly.  One that stands out is the simple calendar month method, for the chart beginning February 1 has both the sun and the moon with Saturn in Aquarius, a Saturn-ruled sign, and all three square to Uranus, the ruler of that sign.  This is very difficult. And so it is turning out.  But for war we ought to have also a Mars indication, and indeed in this monthly chart Mars is in high focus, the leading planet in a bundle-shaped mass of the ten planets.   Further, when we look at the symbol for Mars's position in that chart it is, in Charubel's system, "A butcher clothed in his working dress conducting a sheep into the slaughtr-house."  Today in the Wall Street Journal an opinion piece is titled "Putin's Slaughter-House."  Fairly or not, Putin's present image is that of a butcher.  Another symbol (for Jupiter) denotes "a practical business person, one who readily aligns himself with the world's ways, and with ordinary matters in general.  A little cantankerous and not one of the pleasantest companions.  One never short of expedients."  Even Putin's friends must agree that this describes him; and, as a commentator in the New York Times said, "We are all in Putin's world now."  So the international "community" (if such it be) is now seeking "expedients" such as sanctions to deal with Russia. 

Another Charubel symbol for the month (Saturn's) is "a vessel rolling in the trough of a rough sea."  It "denotes one who will ever live in a state of uncertainty, subject to many changes and severe trials; his career will be a struggle for existence."  This is what Zelensky and many of his Ukrainian compatriots are experiencing.  It is what many suffering either from Covid or from the vaccines are experiencing.  

There are other more pleasant symbols in the February chart, which one might think about on this the final day, such as "a tastefully furnished room with a large candle on a round table in the center."   This is ordinary comfort and elegance in one's home, or temporary homes should one be traveling. "A farmer's horse and cart, with a man driving" indicates "one who is quite contented with his lot; unambitious."  This could be a clue to calm down and accept "what is" rather than struggle intensely toward "what is not."  It might be, in contemporary terms, the truckers "driving" their "carts" or trucks.  It is sad that the Putin imbroglio is taking attention away from that important protest.

I've been reading and listening to experts concerning the Ukraine incursion by Russia and all that is certain is that nobody knows exactly how to deal with it.  Is Vladimir Putin an "oriental-rug dealer"?  He wants Eurasia to be carpeted for him so he can pass through Ukraine to Crimea (let us hope not by "carpet bombing").  "Bubbles in the air" could be pointless fireworks to scare people, or the insubstantial-seeming yet possibly disastrous "hacking" for war purposes we are hearing about, with Russia either victim or perpetrator. The Ukrainians may be able to make all this "a pilgrimage" for themselves, that is, by facing it valiantly-wisely turn it into progress for the world.  Such an outcome is not easy to discern at this point but we can hope and pray. "The world order" needs rectification not through armaments but through soul-growth.

We entered a new Bright (fast, facilitative, progressive) Hermetic Epoch, based on the relations among Mercury, the sun, and the earth, last night at 9:26p PT | 12:26a(Th) ET | 5:26a(Th) UT (lasting until April 26)

"A cross lying on rocks" suggests pangs of conscience chiding one for having abandoned one's spiritual ideal or Saviour.  "A woman entering a convent" has realized that dedication and self-sacrifice are what will make one happy  

"A niche containing a lamp and a book or missal" fits the moon's position in Sagittarius, a seeking sign.  We want some satisfying philosophic, religious or spiritual underpinning.  "A tankard set upon a table" is what we enjoy in lighter moments when free, frank companionship is our privilege.

War rumblings in the Eastern Hemisphere and convoy rumblings in the Western have indeterminate results.  I am with the truckers and their complaints against any mandates which would force probably toxic substances into their bodies.  The evidence of the dangers of the so-called vaccines (really experimental gene remodelers) is increasing by the day and more and more observers and experts are suspecting actual fraud or criminality in those who have foisted them on humanity.  "A swimmer struggling for life is thrown a lifebuoy and finally rescued."  We are more than bodies, and when the fog is low and dense on the physical plane we may find sunshine on the spiritual plane, which we desperately need to awaken from the "virus" nightmare.  It becomes more and more evident that the real virus is fear, plus the coercion it pretends to justify.

~The Brits are Free, Why aren't We?~

I try to avoid politics here but I have been very involved in reading about and posting about the vaccine mandates, which I oppose.  As for the vaccines themselves, I understand that people have differing opinions about their efficacy and their danger.  I veer to the side of considering them dangerous, but choose not to promote that viewpoint too fervently here in these forecast-meditations.  However, I am stirred up and excited by the People's Convoy which is getting started in California today, moving east to Arizona, then Oklahoma, Texas, eventually Indianapolis and Ohio and then on to NEAR Washington DC by March 5.  The organizers want to avoid any confrontation right in the capitol city itself, but who knows what might happen. 

It might be fortunate that it is beginning right at the beginning of a Bright Hermetic Epoch (February 24, this Thursday, until April 26).  The organizers seem to be very efficient and on top of logistics.   They hope to set out from Barstow tomorrow, Wednesday, when the moon will have left Scorpio and gone into Sagittarius, a good omen.  

As for today, we have "A general accepting defeat gracefully" and I wish that were Justin Trudeau but probably not yet.  "A church bazaar" shows the good will and friendly, almost party, atmosphere of the Convoy already assembling, which indeed has many religious participants.  "Three men advancing arm in arm" gets the flavor of it almost exactly.  The trucks or heavy vehicles themselves could be represented by "a plow" which is intended to plow up the public consciousness toward rejecting the mandates and plumping for personal bodily freedom.  

I posted to the Telegram site of the Convoy, just before writing this, "The Brits are free.  Why aren't we?"  Because under the leadership of Boris Johnson all mandates and restrictions have been removed in the U. K.  Vaccination, while recommended officially, is voluntary and not enforced.  So simple, and so obviously what we need to do here.  The situation is made more complex in that the states of our nation have each their own right to determine many laws affecting health, yet it seems to me and many that our Constitution guarantees bodily freedom unhindered by any state or federal law or regulation.   

A final symbol for the day is "A black pall, a man looking at it despairingly, finally mastering courage to lift it and enter a dark passage conducting him into the light of a glorious day."  This is self-explanatory and may apply, with the symbols previously mentioned in this report, to various aspects of your own situation, as you may see if you ponder them.

~Near Turning Point~

It doesn't seem that I can ever write about the Dark Hermetic Epoch too often.  We tend to forget it is going on.  If you are reading this you are in the .000000001 per cent of the earth's population who know about it.  Congratulate yourself! and use the knowledge.  Its duration this time was and is from December 29 through February 23, another five days.  I used to hope that we feel things getting easier toward the end of the period, but now I think that there is a quantum leap from the Dark (Slow) to the Bright (Fast) Epoch.  That will come in five days on Thursday February 24.  

I continue to find things very slow, delayed, sometimes distressing, requiring much backtracking every day.  I do things in an 'out of pattern way' and sometimes this is okay, sometimes disturbing, but always seems to be unavoidable.  I am speaking for myself because I am not you, but I believe you must be going through the same thing.  As for the world at large, one could point to the Biden-Putin-Ukraine imbroglio, which goes backward, forward, and nowhere by the day, and the vaccine mandate mess, which seems to get better, then worse, then marginally better, or to the Canadian truckers who have a legitimate grievance but no easy way of getting relief, and so on and so on.  (Joe Rogan flip-flopping is a good example--Do I go forward or backward, or forward, backward and forward?)  I am moaning again about all this because it definitely helps, rather than hurts, to know about it, and realize that one is not going crazy, nor senile, nor bonkers, nor are one's friends and neighbors going nuts, and that perhaps there could even be some hope for political matters getting better in a few days or more.  

Meanwhile, our spiritual development can continue and even be facilitated during the DHE when the "inner" seems often to trump the "outer."  

I applaud those who keep on working and pursuing their tasks, ambitions, or missions during this difficult period.  They have a lot to contend with, and grow stronger by facing the strangeness with as much perspective and courage as they can summon.

We may be feeling a little more calm because the sun has entered Pisces, though five planets remain in the (seemingly) obstructive, delaying, difficult Saturn-ruled signs Capricorn and Aquarius.  Spring comes, technically, in a month and by later this week most will sense that things are moving more smoothly in a more clearly defined direction.

As the moon increases in light and apparent size, 'boys and girls are in gymnasium suits.'  They and we are animated to keep in motion whether physically or mentally.  This could be in supervised group effort or individual effort to rise toward higher estimation by others. Any drag on energy is a temporary adjustment.  Venus and Mars together sextile both Jupiter and Neptune give a decorative or aesthetic turn to things, so there is 'an ancient pottery bowl filled with violets.'  It is 'ancient' because Venus and Mars in Capricorn appreciate history and herstory, traditions sustaining our present consciousness.  

Those very sextiles, happily on Valentine's Day, with two planets in Pisces the sign of the dance, bring out 'a stout person of good proportions and round, rosy features, looking very merry and dancing grotesquely.'  Everybody can dance, letting the body animate itself in merry self-expression.  For awhile 'the present is all.'  Yet later one might be more thoughtful and be 'a Standard-bearer,' a leader or reformer in a small way (Uranus is still square Saturn).

There is a desire to get a lot done in a short span of time, as the moon waxes, and 'a man is riding at high speed upon a well-conditioned horse.'  At the mental level this could be instructing, or being instructed, for the horse symbolizes wisdom.  There is joy in efficient mental activity.  Then when at rest one may enjoy 'a stately mansion surrounded by trees in an expanse of pastureland.'  One's dwelling, whatever its size, is there to be deeply refreshing.  One might share it with visitors through pleasant, frank, broad-minded companionship.

It seems crucial to orient ourselves to the remaining portion of the Dark or Slow Hermetic Epoch.  Here is the pattern:

December 29 Dark Hermetic Epoch began . . . [January 14 Mercury turned retrograde . . . February 4 Mercury turns direct] . . . February 24 new Bright Hermetic Epoch begins (until April 26 when another Dark Hermetic Epoch begins, lasting until June 20)

The coming twelve days offer a chance to REthink what has been going on for the past month and settle our minds a bit, to get our bearings, realizing that we are going through a REcalculation or REestimation of what we are doing or trying to do.  (The DHE is all very much like the central MR period at its center, though not quite as intense.  Sometimes, however, it can be at least as intense.)  

I'll talk about my own experience a little so you can compare it with yours.  First, the shadowy, unsettling portion:  I have had much delay through technological matters.  Today my computer was working much slower than usual, for no reason known to me.  Pages took forever to load, it seemed.  Last night I had trouble with a streaming service and contacted its customer support, only to find that the chat person didn't understand my question and wasted about 20 minutes of my time not-giving me an answer, though finally I figured out what was wrong and fixed it myself.  Not everything technological goes wrong during the MR or DHE, but enough does to make these periods difficult at times, like walking on chewing gum or through ankle-deep mud.  I forgot twice to buy coffee when I went shopping and so spent a week making do with some tea bags I found.  Not a tragedy but typical of the period.  One can forget things.  Things get out of pattern.  Contacts with people, whether by phone, in person, mail or email, seem oddly askew, though sometimes they can be lucky, and sometimes they appear to be almost miraculous, as though the universe were trying to put you in touch with some individuals, or keep you from others, by odd coincidences.  (Right now, as I type, the screen does not move up when I get to the bottom and I have to do it by hand so I can see what I'm typing.  This is way out of pattern.)  

On the positive side, there is a quest for the unusual, the new, the 'pleasingly out of pattern.'  This is mixed with an interest in the past.  There is both REsearch toward the new and REcollection of the old, sometimes mixed together.  For example, for at least 50 years I have found that during the MR or DHE periods I find myself reading about UFOs or flying saucers.  Or about psychic phenomena of some sort.  This time, just two days ago, I found that Joe Rogan had interviewed Travis Walton (abductee) in one episode, and Bob Lazar (whistleblower of government possession of and study of anti-gravity crafts) in another.  Fascinating stuff, and I recommend the Bob Lazar interview (if you have Spotify just type his name in Search and you will find it).  Mercury retrograde does not mean that everything you hear about is wrong or questionable but that it is frequently unusual or surprising, REquiring REvised thinking to comprehend.  

But that can be quite exciting.  A pitfall can be getting involved in scams or questionable or sham negotiations or purchases.  Use your credit card abstemiously!  One wants to try 'out of pattern' things and that can be good but it can also be expensive or dangerous, or else just fatuous.  

Fatuous?  Not everything that seems useless is really so, I think.  What good does it do me to know about Bob Lazar and Travis Walton?  If I were to spend all my time getting involved in UFO research and diving down those Saucer-covered rabbit holes, that could be hurtful to me or to my proper destiny.  But getting a taste of those things could be stimulating and exhilarating.  It's a matter of proportion.  This also applies to old movies or TV series one feels like seeing again.  

Conspiracy theories, or conspiracy facts?  Those too are likely to turn up in a big way during MR or DHE.  I appreciated learning a lot from Rogan's interview with Dr. Robert Epstein, for example, though he does not have good things to say about Google, on which and through which I post these reports.  Will Google censor me if I keep writing about Epstein?  Not so far as I know, but such twisted complications and suspicions are likely to come up during the MR and DHE.  

On the good side, there is the Supreme Good, G*d.  That is, your spiritual path, whatever it may be, becomes deeper and more illuminating during the DHE, which might seem paradoxical unless we REmember that much deep meditation, and many REvealing dreams, come with the night, and that when the sun is absent one often (even if only through reading or watching streaming video) seeks inner light more assiduously.  

We could speculate more extensively about what all this means.  Are there really two different kinds of time, or two different dimensions of experience, one during the DHE and one during the BHE?  I tend to think so.  I leave such speculation to you.  I hope this REport helps you navigate the next ten days more consciously and peacefully. 

[From the February 9 report]:

It doesn't seem that I can ever write about the Dark Hermetic Epoch too often.  We tend to forget it is going on.  If you are reading this you are in the .000000001 per cent of the earth's population who know about it.  Congratulate yourself! and use the knowledge.  Its duration this time was and is from December 29 through February 23, another twelve days.  I used to hope that we feel things getting easier toward the end of the period, but now I think that there is a quantum leap from the Dark (Slow) to the Bright (Fast) Epoch.  That will come in twelve days on Thursday February 24.  I am finding things very slow, delayed, sometimes distressing, requiring much backtracking every day.  I do things in an 'out of pattern way' and sometimes this is okay, sometimes disturbing, but always seems to be unavoidable.  I am speaking for myself because I am not you, but I believe you must be going through the same thing.  As for the world at large, one could point to the Biden-Putin-Ukraine imbroglio, which goes backward, forward, and nowhere by the day, and the vaccine mandate mess, which seems to get better, then worse, then marginally better, or to the Canadian truckers who have a legitimate grievance but no easy way of getting relief, and so on and so on.  (Joe Rogan flip-flopping, etc.)  I am moaning about all this because it definitely helps, rather than hurts, to know about it, and realize that one is not going crazy, nor senile, nor bonkers, nor are one's friends and neighbors going nuts, and that perhaps there could even be some hope for political matters getting better in a couple weeks or more.  

There are some promising indications:  Beginning Tuesday-Wednesday, the  15th-16th, Venus will take the place of Mars as high-focus planet (in the transiting configuration).  Mars has been strident, accenting intense disagreements whether political or otherwise.  Venus should make things smoother and more sociable.  And beginning Friday the 18th the sun will enter Pisces, so that the grip of Saturn on the planets is decreased, for Pisces is ruled by Jupiter (and Neptune).  Some shackles may be removed. 

I applaud those who keep on working and pursuing their tasks, ambitions, or missions during this difficult period.  They have a lot to contend with, and grow stronger by facing the strangeness with as much perspective and courage as they can summon.
